    An Extraordinary Experience

    I stayed for one night on November 12. I was able to make a Reservation for a Junior Suite at an amazing price. Some Reviews mentioned that the property feels a bit dated, but it didn’t bother me at all, and I felt like I was staying in an executive-level room. It seems the hotel will be rebranded as Grand Mercure, and I’ve already made another Reservation.

    Royton Sapporo - Final Day

    Stayed for 3 nights at Royton Sapporo before its closure at the end of January. This place holds many memories, including our wedding, conferences, meals, and countless farewell and welcome parties. The Room was spacious and comfortable, though signs of aging were noticeable in some areas. Looking forward to its new beginning as Grand Mercure Sapporo Odori Park from April. Thank you, Royton Sapporo!

    This was my first time staying at this Hotel. The staff were kind, and the Room was spacious and clean. I am satisfied with how comfortable my stay was for this price. I travel to Hokkaido every year, so I would like to consider this Hotel as an option next time. Thank you very much!

    It's old, but everyone worked hard.

    I chose this Hotel because of the good reviews about breakfast, and it was close to Odori Park, quiet, and convenient. The proximity to the subway station made it easy to get to New Chitose Airport. Although access to JR Sapporo Station was inconvenient, everything else was comfortable. There is no convenience store nearby, but it wasn’t too much of an issue. Breakfast during my two-night stay was excellent and something I looked forward to each morning. It’s clear that everyone is putting in great effort. Although the restaurant was closed, I hope the Hotel continues its operations successfully!

    If you saw this place on Instagram and are considering it, it's better to reconsider.

    I found this hotel on Instagram as it was featured in a popular post about "hotels with luxurious breakfasts" and made a reservation through IKYU. However, it turned out to be the worst hotel stay I've ever had. First of all, the front desk is too far from the parking lot. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a dimly lit interior and outdated decor, which immediately made me question if I was in the right place. The difference between the photos and reality was shocking. When I reached the front desk to check in, none of the staff even made eye contact with me. The dim lighting throughout seemed like an attempt at energy saving, but combined with unmotivated staff members, it created an unpleasant atmosphere right from the start. There was also a musty smell throughout that resembled mold. The room I was guided to was supposed to be non-smoking but had an unpleasant old odor lingering inside. The bed—a low double bed reminiscent of certain types of hotels—shook so much every time I moved that getting restful sleep was impossible. The sheets felt rough as if they hadn't been replaced for years; they seemed dirty and uninviting. The bathroom facilities were terrible: clogged drains that didn’t allow water to flow properly, mold growing in the bathtub area, and stains on furniture like dressing chairs added to my discomfort during my stay. It felt like this building has deteriorated so much that rebuilding might be necessary for continued operation—it gave off vibes of being close to shutting down entirely (the closed shops downstairs only reinforced this impression). The most disappointing aspect by far though? The breakfast buffet! Instagram posts promised seafood bowls you could customize freely in abundance—but what awaited us were tiny salmon roe portions alongside some salmon tartare and mekabu seaweed (laughable). After researching further online later on-site changes revealed recent downgrades yet no transparency updates reflected honestly via official website pages beforehand misleading expectations unfairly instead!     Arrived early and decided to wait in the lobby. Enjoyed a limited-time welcome drink with draft beer and sparkling wine, which was delightful. Although the sunrise was blocked by nearby buildings, I was provided with a spacious Room on a high floor. Wanted cold water due to the heat and requested ice, but was surprised to find out it wasn’t available and had to be purchased! Also disappointed that the bed quality was below average.

    Overall, the breakfast was excellent. I enjoyed plenty of melons. The Facility is old, but the service was decent.

    Not satisfactory.

    It used to be a famous Hotel, so I was attracted by the free parking and made a Reservation. The Room reflects the style of a luxury Hotel from the Showa era. The bed is low, and the springs are firm. The bathroom is an old-style unit bath from the Showa era with a musty smell. Although I thought it was convenient that parking was located in the basement of the Hotel, the elevator was at one end of the banquet hall, making it quite far from my Room. I regretted being drawn to free parking as I ended up using taxis to get around Sapporo Station area, which negated any savings on parking fees. In hindsight, I wish I had chosen a Hotel closer to the station. However, breakfast was enjoyable with options like seafood bowls at the buffet. Still, I don't think I'll visit again.

    The restaurant and shop are closed except during breakfast hours. I only found out upon arrival at the Hotel through a notice. There were no dining options nearby, which caused significant inconvenience. It seems there is some disorganization due to an ownership change at the end of May, but there was no mention of this during the Reservation process. Had I known in advance, I would have chosen a different Hotel. Internal management issues should not affect Accommodation guests.

    As expected... Royton A city Hotel in Sapporo, I use renowned Hotels twice a month, and overall, this was the best so far. The water facilities were a bit lacking, but I was more than satisfied.

    This is my fourth stay at Royton, and as always, the Room was clean and spacious with no complaints. However, this time the toilet water didn’t flush initially, which was inconvenient, but it worked fine afterward. I would love to stay again.

    The high-floor and upgraded Plan, as well as the free parking Plan, were great. However, I was concerned about the toilet in the Room, as the flush handle was faulty and caused a slight issue with water flow. Additionally, there was a sweaty odor in the bathroom (likely from the curtain).

    About the Bathroom

    I have used this facility multiple times. The breakfast buffet is very satisfying. The Room was a twin used as a single, providing plenty of space. Thank you for the comfortable stay. However, during my recent stay on the 13th floor, I noticed an unpleasant smell from the bathroom drain and that the toilet did not flush well, which was slightly concerning. Although I didn’t spend much time in the Room, when returning and using the toilet, I noticed an odor and had to use air freshener frequently.

    It was comfortable.

    I had a pleasant wake-up in the Room with morning sunlight, and the interior was spacious and comfortable. I also enjoyed the night view, which was wonderful. I only had breakfast, but it was delicious.

    I stayed here for the first time during my business trip to Sapporo. On the second day, I extended my check-out time as I had work starting in the afternoon and enjoyed a relaxing morning. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of delicious options! I would love to stay here again.

    I stayed at Royton Sapporo for the first time. The staff's service was polite and appropriate, especially the breakfast venue staff, who were professional with their attentive care. Of course, the breakfast itself was excellent in both variety and quality—delicious. The facility is old but well-maintained and clean, making it comfortable. I felt that this is a hotel I would like to use again in the future.

    Always a relaxing experience.

    I have used this Hotel multiple times, and it is excellent. Check-in was smooth, and the Room this time was a standard twin, which was comfortable in size with beds of just the right firmness. I also had breakfast this time; it offered a wide variety, wasn’t crowded, and was delicious. I have already made my next Reservation. Thank you again!

    Stayed in a Junior Suite on the 19th floor. The view was great, and the space was sufficient, but the furniture and room design felt outdated and a bit dull. The bed was very comfortable, providing a good night's sleep. Skipped breakfast as I wanted to have lunch at the Chinese restaurant in the basement the next day, but I’d like to try breakfast next time.

    I used it because there was a training session in Sapporo. Is it about 1km from Sapporo Station? The beautifully decorated Hina dolls in the lobby had cute faces and were soothing. The Room was spacious, and the bed was comfortable. I hope you take your time to enjoy the breakfast. They are making efforts to bring out the best of the ingredients, and I was impressed by the high potential. The offering of rice balls was rare and went well with the miso soup. The sunlight was just right, making it an enjoyable time and space even while eating.

    I used the service again after a long time. Since it was snowing outside, we chose the Chinese restaurant in the basement for dinner. We were able to enjoy a variety of dishes, including dim sum. The seasoning in Hokkaido seems a bit salty to me. I hope they can consider adjusting the saltiness a little.

    Although my stays are mainly for business trips, I am grateful for the kind assistance provided. Recently, with the increase in Web meetings, using the window side of the Room at Royton as a background allows for conversations about the scenery, which serves as an icebreaker and livens up the meetings. Additionally, the breakfast seems to place a significant emphasis on local ingredients, with a rich variety of warm vegetable dishes, which I look forward to every time. I look forward to my next stay as well.

    The room had a very beautiful night view, and I was able to use a twin room by myself, making it a spacious and comfortable stay. I would definitely like to use it again. I knew it was a hotel loved by Keisuke Yamauchi, so I wanted to try it once. I usually use Hotel Gracery in front of the station, but from now on, I think I will use Royton for events.
