    We’re sorry to hear you were disappointed.

    I have stayed at Sunshine City Prince Hotel many times because it is very convenient, but this time was quite disappointing. From around midnight, there were very loud voices from the neighboring Room (it sounded like an argument), along with music and repeated banging noises, and it continued until about 4:00 a.m., making it impossible to sleep. I considered calling the front desk, but since it was late at night and I was staying alone, I felt uneasy about reporting it and endured it. As I had one more night booked, I spoke with the front desk staff, and they told me that the guests in the neighboring Room would be checking out that day, so I felt relieved. However, although it was better than the previous night, I still heard voices and banging noises from next door. Was it because this time my Room was small that the noise felt even louder? I have never been bothered by noise from neighboring Rooms before and have always had a comfortable stay here, so I felt disappointed. I would like to stay again, so given how many Rooms there are, I hope you can make some improvements—such as floor arrangements or other measures.

    No amenities provided.

    Despite being a Prince Hotel, there were no amenities other than toothbrushes. I was truly disappointed that there were none of the standard items found at most hotels, such as razors, body wash towels for bathing, and women’s shower caps. I believe it is essential to offer a service where guests can request necessary items at the front desk.

    The Room smells musty.

    Although it has been renovated and looks clean on the surface, there is a strong musty smell, and from the moment I entered the Room my nose became congested and my eyes started itching. When I went outside the Hotel, the symptoms disappeared; when I went back inside, my nose became congested again; and when I entered the Room, it got even worse. The unit bath still had a faint urine odor. When I lifted the bed pad, there was a yellow stain around where your hips would be. I understand it’s an old Hotel so some things can’t be helped, but I would appreciate it if it were a bit cleaner (in terms of health).

    Cleaning was inadequate.

    The Room was spacious and looked clean at first glance, but I found a false nail tip under the bed, which made me feel uncomfortable. I would like the cleaning to be more thorough. Other than that, nothing in particular bothered me.

    Excellent convenience

    There is no sense of luxury at all, but the convenience is outstanding. The airport limousine bus, Higashi-Ikebukuro Station, the Toden streetcar line, and Ikebukuro Station are all within walking distance. Most shopping can be done inside Sunshine City, and there are plenty of restaurants as well. More than half of the guests seem to be international travelers, but it does not feel overly rowdy. The rooms are definitely not spacious, but just within an acceptable range. In the Ikebukuro area, this may be the only choice.

    The Room is nice, but the breakfast is terrible.

    I stayed in a triple Room. The Room was spacious, renovated, and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was the worst. Scrambled eggs made with margarine. Terrible. Even a Business Hotel has better food. The manners of some foreign guests were far too bad. Cutting in line, not returning the tongs and tossing them onto plates. Drinking coffee while standing in line. Leaving a pack of strawberries bought outside on the seats. Eating bread without sitting down—unbelievable. I will never use the restaurant again. Japanese people behaved the same way overseas 50 years ago, but please learn proper manners before coming to visit as tourists.

    Noise

    Although voices echo a bit inside the room, I assumed the soundproofing was solid. However, from around midnight I could hear nonstop talking—like a TV—from next door (or maybe two rooms away). After 1:00 a.m., loud laughter joined in, and it didn’t finally quiet down until after 3:00 a.m., so it was too noisy to sleep. It may be cultural, but it was in Chinese. I know it may be difficult, but I would appreciate being placed on a different floor from overseas guests.

    Unfortunately, it was an unsatisfactory stay.

    Usually, I reserve Prince Hotels through their official website, but since the Twin Room was not displayed, I reserved through IKYU where it was available. At check-in, I used the self-check-in system, but due to a communication error, I couldn't display my membership number on the Prince app and was unable to earn points. I reluctantly asked at the staffed counter to have the points added, but was told it was not possible since the payment was already completed. This felt a bit unfriendly. The room had an air conditioning adjustment button, but only cold air came out, making it uncomfortably cold. The security box displayed an error code and could not be used. I believe this should be checked during room cleaning. I left a note in the room about it being unusable.

    The room initially seemed small and uncomfortable based on the photos, but it turned out to be a pleasant stay. The view from the room's window was likely one of the reasons for this, as it felt open and not claustrophobic. The bathroom and toilet were indeed small and not very comfortable to use. However, there were no malfunctions, and as expected, the toilet had a bidet function. I'll give it full marks for that reason alone. It might be worth upgrading the showerhead to something better since this is not a Business Hotel. Adding an odor-eliminating feature to the toilet could also improve things further. A slightly larger TV screen in the room would have been better since it's not very clear when viewed from the bed. I used my own DVDs with a DVD player provided in the room and watched Saariaho's "L'Amour de Loin" and Pergolesi's "Adriano in Siria." The soundproofing of the room could be improved as some ambient noise from outside was audible, though it wasn't overly disruptive—just enough to keep my volume low while watching movies or listening to music. The room was clean with a comfortable bed, offering no major inconveniences; however, overall it felt comparable to a Business Hotel standard. Some high-end Business Hotels even offer better rooms than this one—with more functional TVs, air purifiers readily available, or accessory trays provided. For its price point, I found the room somewhat lacking; however, what truly stands out about this hotel is its excellent location—it’s directly connected to Sunshine City shopping complex! The hotel's interior design is stylish overall; having well-stocked convenience store items nearby adds value too! The view from my upgraded higher-grade Room (thanks due-to availability) especially shines at night-time scenery-wise! Elevators are plentiful so waiting times aren’t frustrating either! Breakfast buffet quality-wise rates average yet unique inclusion like buckwheat galettes stood-out positively amongst offerings! In conclusion: While pricing may lean towards expensive-side relatively speaking—this accommodation excels primarily thanks-to unbeatable location alongside stunning nighttime views

    The service was excellent.

    Self-check-in was available, making the process very smooth. The staff kindly provided helpful guidance, which was much appreciated. The bed was also very comfortable to sleep on.

    After all, Sunshine Hotel was the best.

    The day before, I stayed at Tokyo Dome Hotel and went to see the Sumida River Fireworks Festival with my grandchild after hearing that an acquaintance had completed a condominium near Komagata Bridge. However, the elevators at Tokyo Dome Hotel were small and inconvenient, so the next day we stayed at Ikebukuro Sunshine Hotel. My grandchild loves Sunshine Hotel, and it’s convenient for shopping in both hot summers and cold winters. The parking lot allows us to put purchased items directly into the car, which my wife and daughter also love. Tomorrow, we will stay again at Ikebukuro Sunshine Hotel with the same group. We plan to take my grandchild on a Toden streetcar from Higashi-Ikebukuro to Waseda and have a meal at Regal Hotel. However, the restaurants in Sunshine Hotel are not great; only "Sky Garden" stands out among them. Still, for accommodation, Ikebukuro Sunshine Hotel is our choice.

    Felt outdated.

    Felt quite old. The toilet space was narrow. The Room was spacious but felt like there was a lot of wasted space. The night view was amazing!

    It felt clean.

    The room was clean, and being on the 32nd floor, the view was great. It would have been nice to have a razor (even a T-shaped one) and lotion among the amenities. Perhaps I should have booked a more luxurious room, as the bathtub felt small. The bathroom facilities felt like those of a standard Business Hotel. The front desk staff seemed inexperienced but their dedication was evident and left a positive impression. Keep up the good work!

    Very convenient accommodation

    Traveling from Haneda by limousine bus reduced fatigue. However, the lack of printed materials might not be suitable for couples in their 60s.

    It was a comfortable stay.

    We were allowed to enter the room before the scheduled check-in time and were upgraded to a higher-ranked room. Although our stay in the room was short, we were able to enjoy a quiet and comfortable time. Thank you for your hospitality.

    The elevator error sound is difficult to understand.

    I didn't know how to use the elevator. When I got into either the high-floor or low-floor elevator and pressed my floor, a voice said, "This floor is not accessible." I kept going back and forth, wondering if I should use the low-floor elevator or the high-floor one. At the front desk, I learned that if you hold your room key up to the panel inside the elevator, it will automatically light up your floor and stop there. I used the self-check-in machine, so if I had checked in with a person, I might have received an explanation about this. I was in a hurry, so I didn't notice, and it was frustrating. The solution is clear: the error message should be changed to "Please touch your room key."

    We stayed to celebrate her birthday. I had flowers delivered at the last minute and they were placed in the room, but I thought it could have used a little something extra.
