    A Charming Highland Hotel

This elegant highland Hotel lifts your spirits from the moment you step inside. The lobby, staircase, and the entire building are wonderful. The Onsen was so relaxing that I went in many times. The food was delicious, and the service was flawless, making for a truly pleasant stay.\nIf I had to mention one drawback, it would be that our Room faced the parking lot, so the view felt a bit too realistic (laughs).\nI was able to relax and unwind at this highland Hotel I had always dreamed of staying at. Thank you very much.

    I was truly impressed.

I was impressed by the hospitality, the in-house services, the meals, and the breathtaking scenery that looked like a painting wherever I looked. I’m truly glad I chose this Hotel for my first stay in Hakuba. Next time, I’d love to visit this Hotel again during the autumn foliage season.

This was our third stay. We love this Hotel for the view of the Hakuba Sanzan from the Room. All the meals were delicious and the portions were just right, but I have a very sensitive stomach and Western-style dishes upset it. On the second night, you kindly prepared grilled fish that wasn’t on the à la carte menu, and I was able to enjoy my meal—thank you very much. Since Japanese-style meals were available in the past, we would appreciate having them again for a Multiple Night Stay. Due to the weather, we couldn’t do the Happo Pond trek on our middle day. Instead, on day three after checking out, we did a Happo Pond hike. As guests we received an Onsen voucher, so it was wonderful and much appreciated to freshen up and wash off our sweat after hiking.

    We had a relaxing stay.

It was a calm, classic Tokyu-style Hotel. Unfortunately, the clouds prevented us from seeing the Hakuba mountains, but we were able to relax quietly in the courtyard and the Onsen. The staff provided thoughtful, understated service, and both our Room and the facilities were kept very clean. Thank you very much.

    Great location.

As the property has been renovated, we were able to spend a meaningful time without feeling its age. We had the kaiseki-style French course, but the dinner portions felt insufficient. The breakfast was excellent.

    It was the best Accommodation.

The garden is wonderful, and having coffee while looking out over the Northern Alps is the best. The Facility as a whole feels very elegant, and I want to visit again and again. It was a truly excellent Hotel—it's hard to choose between Kamikochi and Hakuba Tokyu.

A relaxing stay with heartfelt hospitality and soothing views of the Northern Alps

We stayed to celebrate my partner’s birthday. When I consulted the Accommodation in advance about a celebratory meal, they carefully confirmed everything—from the cake size and the message on the plate to the number of candles. Every exchange felt so warm, and I had never looked forward to a trip this much even before arriving. I was disappointed that I couldn’t thank the person who helped us beforehand in person on the day, but their thoughtfulness was clearly passed along, and at the restaurant they were truly attentive—even down to perfect timing for serving our meal and cake. It felt like genuine hospitality from top-class Hotel staff whom you can trust with an important occasion. From our Room, we had a panoramic view of the Northern Alps. We could enjoy the scenery while soaking in the bath, relaxing on the balcony, or even lying in bed. Outside the lobby there was a seating area with sofas and chairs where you can stay comfortable without getting wet in the rain; we spent unhurried time indoors as well—watching the fire pit and relaxing in a hammock. It was such a wonderful Accommodation that we wished we could stay longer, and on checkout day we even delayed our departure by quite a lot. The Onsen was also outstanding. With water quality said to be over pH 11, my skin immediately felt silky-smooth right after getting in. I loved it so much that I went twice again in the morning as well (in addition to at night), even around breakfast. Breakfast was delicious too—especially memorable were croissant waffles made by baking small pieces of croissant dough in a waffle maker. It was delightful to enjoy them freshly baked while looking out at the mountains. The grounds were beautifully maintained, and it was charming to see an automatic lawn mower working from morning until evening—it really showed how carefully everything is managed. Although it rained off and on during our stay, we still had such an enjoyable trip to Hakuba thanks entirely to all of your staff. It was a wonderful anniversary stay with unforgettable views, Onsen, food—and above all, thoughtful care from everyone on staff. We would love to visit again.

I’d love to stay here again.

This was my first stay at Hakuba Tokyu Hotel, and the staff were extremely courteous, making my entire stay comfortable and pleasant. The meals were delicious, and I was especially happy with the thoughtful birthday plate—it made the stay truly memorable. It’s a wonderful Hotel that I would love to visit again. Thank you very much!

    A Wonderful Mountain Resort Hotel

This was my first stay. The moment I stepped into the lobby, it truly felt like a mountain resort! I stayed on the 5th floor, and the view from the Room was amazing. Late at night, I could clearly see the starry sky from the balcony. Dinner was outstanding—everything was delicious and really impressed me. By chance, there was live music as well, which made the atmosphere perfect. While walking on the lawn, I saw an autonomous lawn mower working hard like a Roomba. Checkout day happened to be my husband’s birthday, and when I mentioned it in advance, a staff member wished him “Happy Birthday” at breakfast—it became a memorable trip for us. I’d love to stay again when I have the chance.

The spacious layout and calm interior made for a very comfortable stay. The view of the Alps was stunning. I was also very satisfied with the dinner course. The staff’s hospitality was excellent.

    A Hotel with Delicious Meals

For our first stay in Hakuba, we chose the long-established Tokyu Hotel. There were many elderly couples, and we were able to relax in a calm, quiet atmosphere. Just as I had heard from an acquaintance, both dinner and breakfast were delicious—everything tasted great with no disappointments. We enjoyed breakfast on the balcony while feeling a pleasant breeze. In particular, the ketchup wasn’t store-bought and had a wonderfully homemade taste, and the waffles made by baking croissant dough in a waffle maker were also very delicious. The only downside was that the room lighting was dim—especially in the washroom—so I couldn’t do my makeup there. I ended up doing it at the desk where a magnifying mirror was placed, but even there it wasn’t bright enough for makeup with only a stand light next to it. The Onsen water quality was good and the large public bath was clean; however, since it’s an older Hotel this may be unavoidable, but I would have been even more satisfied if there had been an in-room bath supplied with Onsen water. On the other hand, perhaps because there is only a large public bath, there didn’t seem to be many inbound guests with tattoos.

    Cute lawn-mowing Roomba buddy

Thank you, as always, for a comfortable stay. The Roomba lawn mower zipping around the wide lawn is adorable. The Onsen was also wonderful. Your curry is rich and delicious. Of course, dinner was great as well. I also love the Train Park right next door, and this time I visited again and rode the model train. We will be back again—thank you in advance for your hospitality.

    A long-established Hotel never disappoints.

I had a very comfortable stay. The view from the Room was amazing, and dinner was even more delicious than I expected; breakfast was also excellent. It was disappointing that the large public bath was extremely crowded and I ended up turning back, but I’m glad I chose this Hotel when looking for Accommodation in Hakuba.

    An Elegant Getaway in Hakuba

I always stay here whenever I visit Hakuba. From the moment you step into this Swiss chalet-style building—befitting a distinguished guesthouse of the Japanese Alps—you are welcomed by tasteful furniture and décor. The clean, well-designed Room offers breathtaking seasonal views of the Hakuba Three Peaks and the surrounding Alps from its large windows and balcony. The French dinner and breakfast buffet let you enjoy Shinshu’s seasons with all five senses, and each staff member’s warm, refined hospitality brings everything together in perfect balance to create the “Hakuba Tokyu Hotel” brand. This time, dinner was a “Gourmet Journey,” a harmonious collaboration of French cuisine with Japanese elements using Shinshu ingredients. In the elegant atmosphere of the main dining room “Chamonix,” I enjoyed a luxurious menu including grilled kinki (rockfish) with pinecone-style scoring, grilled wagyu beef, bamboo shoot rice with Shinshu soba, and caramel mille-feuille. On my previous visit on November 1st, I enjoyed the combination of autumn leaves and the season’s first snowfall; this time, I was able to fully take in Hakuba’s lingering snow and the morning alpenglow. I believe this is an outstanding Hotel for anyone who wants to enjoy Hakuba throughout all four seasons. To all the staff members, thank you very much. I would love to stay here again in the future.

    I was very satisfied.

The Hotel building itself is old, but the interior did not feel dated. The guest room was spacious and very well cleaned. Dinner was a set course, and it seemed they limited the number of guests to ensure attentive service, which we appreciated. The baths were renovated at the end of last year, so they were clean and comfortable, and the hot spring water quality was excellent. It would have been even better if there had been a view from the open-air bath, but that seems difficult due to the location, which was a slight disappointment. They have planted moss phlox, and I would like to visit again next year when it is in full bloom.

I stayed here again after a long time. I heard it was renovated recently, and everything was very clean, including the Room. The classic atmosphere has been preserved as well. Everything was perfect—the bath and the meals included—and I was very satisfied. I’d like to stay here regularly again. The elevator buttons are fantastic.

Stay in the Top Floor Standard Alps Twin Room

We stayed here for skiing. The large covered drop-off area was a huge help for carrying lots of ski gear. Access to the ski lockers was easy, and there were small carts available for transporting equipment, which was very convenient. There is also a blower outside, making it easy to remove dirt from skis and boots. The view from our Room was amazing. The Onsen temperature was just right and very relaxing. The breakfast curry was delicious. This Hotel is ideal for adults who want to spend a quiet, relaxing time. It was very comfortable, and we’d love to stay again next year!

    I'll be back!

Stayed for one night on November 2nd during the holiday. We had been enjoying Iwatake Mountain Resort in the morning, but as light rain started, we decided to cut our plans short and check in early. Upon entering the room, everyone exclaimed, "Wow, it's beautiful!" The interior featured a lovely design with dark brown tones accented by red chairs. The glass wall facing the courtyard offered a stunning view of the garden that looked like a large painting right before our eyes, complete with a charming balcony. The yellow grass and golden autumn leaves glistened in the light rain, and we found ourselves captivated by the view from our room for quite some time. Later on, we stepped out into the courtyard from behind the hotel lobby on the first floor. Sitting by a wood-burning stove in cozy chairs, we watched with amusement as an automated lawnmower zipped around like an energetic puppy despite the rain. We also enjoyed gazing at snow-dusted mountains and blue-gray skies ahead while savoring this rare moment of tranquility. Both dinner and breakfast were absolutely delicious—especially memorable was a slow-cooked meat dish served at dinner that was simply exquisite! Live piano and double bass performances in the lounge added to an elegant atmosphere. For breakfast, large restaurant windows allowed us to admire views of autumn foliage while indulging in fresh vegetables, pickles, and rich-tasting Onsen eggs—all incredibly flavorful! The linen basket provided for carrying items to/from the public bath was perfectly sized and very convenient to use. It was truly a wonderful Hotel experience—thank you so much!

    Scenic Mountain Resort Hotel

Waking up and looking outside the room, I was greeted by the stunning view of the snow-covered Hakuba Sanzan mountains, surrounded by vibrant autumn foliage, offering a breathtaking scenery. It felt comparable to the Imperial Hotel in Kamikochi. The breakfast buffet was delightful with a wide variety of options, including many local ingredients. Having an Onsen was a great feature. Although the outdoor bath was under construction and unavailable, soaking in the large indoor bath warmed me to my core. I would love to visit again in summer for a refreshing escape from the heat.

    Sauna Temperature

A stylish space reminiscent of a Swiss Hotel, the terrace fire, and a delicious dinner made for a relaxing stay. However, the sauna temperature was only 80°C even when waving towels around—I would have preferred it to reach 90°C, which was slightly disappointing. But the next morning, I was moved by the sight of the Alps briefly turning bright red in the sunrise. A picturesque view right in front of this Hotel's garden—it alone made driving an hour from Azumino worthwhile. I would love to stay here again if I have the chance.

    Guesthouse of the Japanese Alps

I always stay here when visiting Hakuba. The Swiss chalet-style building exudes the elegance of a mountain resort hotel, featuring a fireplace with burning logs, stylish wooden furniture and decor, and tasteful guest rooms with large windows offering views of the Alps and Hakuba's seasonal landscapes. The French cuisine, which harmoniously blends classic and nouvelle styles while emphasizing local ingredients, allows you to fully enjoy the essence of Shinshu in autumn. The Onsen is serene, clean, and relaxing. Above all, the warm and refined hospitality of each staff member creates a perfect balance that defines "Hakuba Tokyu Hotel." During my stay, there was a mini jazz concert held in the lounge in front of the main dining area "Chamonix," making my time even more luxurious. With convenient access to Hakuba Station and Happo-One Gondola Station, this is truly an ideal hotel for those who want to enjoy Hakuba throughout all seasons. Thank you very much to all the staff members! I look forward to staying here again in the future.

    I chose this hotel f...

I chose this hotel for its beautiful views. I selected a spacious room and planned to enjoy the scenery during my multiple night stay, but the view from the window was of a construction site and parking lot, which was disappointing. I requested to change rooms, but my request was denied. I decided to give up on enjoying the outside view. For multiple night stays, they mentioned that they would make adjustments to the meals for the following day. While I was satisfied with the meal on the first day, on the second day, dishes like simmered komatsuna greens and taro dengaku as appetizers and vegetable tempura rice bowl as a main dish felt lackluster and made me regret staying multiple nights. As for the bath, it felt quite small. The in-room bath was so cramped that it didn’t feel worth using even though it was provided.

Sewer odor in the guest room toilet

At check-out, I forgot to mention this at the front desk, but the sewage smell from the toilet was so strong that it woke me up in the middle of the night. This is something only a guest would notice, so I recommend inspecting it for future improvements.

I reserved a room on the Alps side with a view of nature. Although I was worried about the weather, I enjoyed the beautiful scenery and had a wonderful morning! It was excellent.

It was my first visit from Kanagawa to Hakuba. The usual highway traffic jams and construction delays extended the estimated arrival time on the navigation system, and while it didn’t take double the expected time, it took longer than anticipated, leaving me quite tired. Upon arrival, the front desk kindly upgraded us to a larger Room as there was availability. Lucky! Unfortunately, the outdoor bath was under renovation during our stay. The indoor bath had frosted glass windows that blocked any view, which was disappointing; however, the quality of the hot spring water was excellent. Given its location, I assume most guests use the restaurant. The special French cuisine we had there was absolutely delicious and left us very satisfied. The service at both the front desk and in the restaurant exceeded expectations—it felt more like staying at a City Hotel rather than a Resort Hotel. With so many attractions nearby, I would love to visit again!

Solo Travel for the Baby Boomer Generation

Stayed for one night after exploring the Tsugaike Nature Park, which I visited with my family about 40 years ago. Enjoyed a relaxing solo trip with highlights such as the open-air bath that soothes tired bodies, a dinner featuring French cuisine paired with local ginjo sake, and breakfast while watching wild monkeys roam the garden.

    Enjoyed the Resort Hotel.

I occasionally visit Hakuba, but during my younger days, it was mostly for ski trips. This was my first stay during this season. I thoroughly enjoyed the Resort Hotel. Although the cloudy skies prevented me from seeing the mountains, I relaxed by the fireplace in the spacious open lobby and listened to piano performances in the lounge after meals. The food and bath were also excellent. It was a hotel that made me want to come back again. However, when my wife entered the room, she noticed handprints on the table and doubted whether it had been properly cleaned—this part was disappointing. Also, I felt that alcoholic beverages at the restaurant were slightly overpriced.

    As a mountain resort

Revisited Hakuba Happo-One, my ski home ground since student days, at the age of 80. It was my first time staying in a hotel, but the mountain resort atmosphere was excellent. The shuttle service to the station and gondola was convenient. However, it would be better if dinner options included not only classic French cuisine but also Japanese dishes as standard choices.

    The food was delicious.

The room was a bit small, but the view, location, meals, atmosphere, and large public bath were excellent overall—definitely 5 stars. Relaxing by the fire of the wood stove after dinner was absolutely wonderful. We upgraded our dinner to French cuisine, which was incredibly delicious. Initially planning for a 2-night stay, we extended it by one more night after hearing that the menu changes daily. For our third night, we stayed in a spacious concept room with a great ambiance. However, I felt that some of the foreign staff could use more training as there were some questionable moments at the front desk and breakfast venue. Other staff members were very polite and attentive. Special thanks to the person who gave us wine recommendations during our second dinner—the wine made our meal even more enjoyable! Thank you so much! We had a wonderful holiday and would love to visit again in the future. Also, there was an adorable small automatic lawn mower running around in the garden—it seemed secretly popular among guests!
