    Upgrade

It seems there was availability on the day, so our Room was upgraded.

    It feels unbalanced.

I used to really like this Ryokan, and it had a great reputation among locals as well. However, this time I was quite disappointed with everything except the food... We stayed in a room with an open-air bath, but the sideways-mounted metal toilet paper holder fell off, and I almost injured my foot. The place does show its age, but this should be manageable with proper daily maintenance... Also, the staff at the entrance. I mentioned the details during our stay, but these are the people guests interact with first upon arrival. With that kind of attitude, it would be better if they weren’t there at all. The food is excellent as expected—delicious and very generous portions. Overall, it feels like this Ryokan has become unbalanced. I hope to see improvements in the future.

    Not suitable for elderly guests.

The staff service was excellent, but the Facility is simply far too old. Also, there are no grab bars in the toilets, which I think is very inconvenient for elderly guests. In the changing area of the bath, sticky repair tape-like patches were stuck all over the floor. I stepped on one without noticing, and the adhesive stuck to my foot—it felt really unpleasant. In addition, the Room air conditioning was either cold when turned on or hot when turned off; it couldn’t be adjusted finely, and it was also extremely noisy. What shocked me most at the bath was a staircase with dozens of steps. This is not something an elderly person with limited mobility can go up and down, and I believe photos of those stairs should be shown on the website as well. I had been looking forward to the large public bath, but I had to give up because of those stairs, and I deeply regret choosing this Accommodation. I even blamed myself for planning this trip as a memory for my elderly parents—why didn’t I call ahead to ask whether there were stairs leading to the Onsen? I had never stayed at an Onsen like that before, so it never occurred to me that there might be stairs; I regret making that assumption. I don’t think we will stay again, but the food was delicious—the one positive point.

It was quiet, beautiful, and very relaxing.

Although it is a large Hotel, it was very quiet. The Room was spacious, and the bathroom was also very large, with an open-air bath and a sauna, so the facilities were excellent. The service was great, and the free Shuttle Service was truly helpful. I would like to stay here again.

    The bath is excellent.

The bath was spacious and very pleasant. We stayed in three rooms with six people, and it was great that they prepared our meals in a private dining room. The Facility is a bit old, but it was kept clean and we had a comfortable stay. However, the breakfast was not quite as good; we felt the Accommodation we stayed at the night before was better.

There were mixed Reviews, so I felt a bit uneasy before going, but after staying there, I found it to be a very warm and traditional Ryokan. The building feels old, but the guest room had no particular issues, and the bath was spacious and comfortable. The meals were delicious—so filling that I couldn’t finish everything. The service was also very polite. However, you have to go down stairs to reach the large public bath, which felt unsafe for my elderly mother. The Golden Week events were wonderful; we could really feel how much they wanted guests to enjoy themselves. It became a great memory for us. Thank you very much.

    Family trip for 8 people

We stayed as a group of eight, including our parents, siblings, and children. The large Room was very clean and spacious, and everyone was very satisfied. The building itself was also large, and the bath was spacious and clean. We were happy with dinner as well, but we especially enjoyed the breakfast buffet—there was a wide variety of options, all delicious. It was quiet and relaxing, and we were extremely satisfied. This is an Accommodation we would love to visit again.

    It was an excellent Ryokan.

I stayed at Rurikoh for one night from April 21 and dined at “Nisaburo” at Rurikoh. Before my stay, I emailed “Yorozuya Kanko Rurikoh Official” with a few questions, and they responded quickly and courteously. The large public bath, the atmospheric open-air bath, and the sauna were all excellent. Above all, the cuisine at Seasonal Dining “Nisaburo” was as delicious as rumored, and I truly enjoyed it. I visit Yamashiro Onsen once or twice a year and have also stayed at their sister property “Hawatari”; both are great Ryokan, but because the food at Seasonal Dining “Nisaburo” is so good, I plan to stay at Rurikoh again next time.

    I’m satisfied.

We stayed for one night on a family sightseeing trip. As there were six of us, we wanted a spacious Room, which often ends up being expensive, but this time we were able to stay at a reasonable price. It’s a large Ryokan with a scale that recalls the bubble era, but perhaps to save electricity, some corridors were dimly lit, and you could feel the passage of time in parts of the Facility. The Room seemed to have been renovated, and the in-room bath and toilet were relatively new. Our female family members especially appreciated having two sinks. The staff were all polite and responsive. The person who guided us to our Room was from overseas; it was a little awkward at times, but they explained everything courteously. Breakfast was buffet-style, and we felt there was a sufficient variety and quantity. There is a complimentary drinks corner next to the front desk where you can have coffee, tea, and more for free—but once you relax in your Room, it can feel like too much trouble to go get them (that’s just me being picky). Recently many Onsen areas have been declining, but the Yamashiro and Yamanaka Onsen area is still an Onsen destination where you can fully enjoy visiting different baths. If I have the chance, I’d like to spend several days here next time.

    Thank you for your support.

I have stayed here several times in the past. Regarding amenities, for rooms with a private open-air bath, I would appreciate it if you could provide multiple bath towels rather than just one set.

Thank you for your continued support this year.

Thank you again for providing such highly satisfying service, following on from last year. The Room with an open-air bath, the delicious meals, the comfortable lounge, and the clean public bath made this trip even more enjoyable than our previous visit. Breakfast was also delicious, but personally I preferred last year’s buffet with plenty of seafood. We look forward to visiting again next year.

    Solo Onsen Trip

The weather was expected to be stable, so I made a reservation the day before for my knee recovery. I was guided to my room, and all the staff were very kind. The onsen was spacious, and for breakfast, I was seated by the window where I could enjoy a relaxing meal while gazing outside. Thank you very much.

The staff were all very pleasant, and the service for foreign guests was excellent. Since it was during the New Year, it would have been nice to have a few more events, but I had an enjoyable stay and thought it was a great accommodation. Thank you very much.

It was a very disappointing accommodation.

This was the first time we spent over 100,000 yen for one night for two people and experienced such an accommodation. <What was good> - The shuttle service driver's prompt and courteous response, including excellent hospitality. - Access to the lounge. - Enjoying an onsen in the room. <What was bad> - During check-in at reception, a foreign staff member handled it slowly and inefficiently while three Japanese staff members were managing guests efficiently. At least during busy periods, capable staff should be assigned to reception. - We arrived on the 1:50 PM shuttle bus, but check-in starts at 3:00 PM. Since many guests are waiting, wouldn't it be better to start guiding them about 10 minutes earlier? There also didn’t seem to be enough employees available to guide everyone simultaneously at that time. - A tour guide from Club Tourism loudly announced before check-in time that "the rooms for Club Tourism guests are ready," which was very unpleasant for us as we wondered when we would be guided to our room—eventually after 3:00 PM—and it left us feeling quite dissatisfied. - Dinner on the first day made us question if this is what you get for this price range; however, dinner on the second day was excellent—what explains this inconsistency? - Breakfast buffet had three shifts: from 7:00 AM–7:50 AM, from 8:00 AM–8:50 AM, and from 9:00 AM–9:50 AM. It took a long time just to enter or line up at the buffet counter with only fifty minutes allocated per shift—it felt like being in a training camp! Meals during travel should allow more leisurely enjoyment of food. - We are not here just visiting nearby attractions; as tourists who have spent money on transportation fees and accommodation costs among other expenses with high expectations of enjoyment—you seem out of touch with how your guests feel. We will never return—not here nor anywhere in Kaga Onsen again!

    Felt reassured.

The Room was wonderful, and the private open-air bath in the Room was lovely. I would like to stay again. However, during dinner, the miso soup served with the final dish of arajiru was incredibly delicious, but when I asked for a second serving, it was declined! While I understand it might be just miso soup, I wish they could offer it even for an additional charge. Although there was information about adding dishes in the Room guide, you wouldn't know what you'd want until you've tried the course meal. It would have been nice if additional orders were possible at the dining area as well as drinks—this part left me slightly disappointed. That said, this is my only concern. The large public bath has towels provided and is accessible all night and into the morning! It's fantastic.

    Stayed at the Hoshi Villa.

I stayed in the Hoshi-no-Tou room with an open-air bath. The room was relaxing, and there was a massage chair, which made me very satisfied. In the lounge exclusively for Hoshi-no-Tou guests, I enjoyed free drinks served in Kutani ware cups. The meals were delicious and filling. At night, there was a Japanese drum performance that became a wonderful memory. However, there were some disappointing aspects as well. First, the private bath in the room. I have difficulty walking and specifically searched for a room with a private bath to avoid slippery public baths. Yet, getting to the bath involved many steps without handrails, making it very challenging. Considering that people may choose rooms with private baths for various reasons, such details should be clearly stated on the website. Additionally surprising was finding pigeons right next to the bath area. They were quiet at first and only noticed them while bathing—it felt unpleasant enough to make me leave immediately. Even in the morning, they remained in the same spot as if they had settled there permanently. Another issue was with towels—all of them seemed reused after washing repeatedly. The face towels especially were worn out and had an odor; they felt like something one might repurpose as cleaning rags at home. While some services were excellent overall these discomforts left me feeling disappointed—so much so that I don’t think I would return again.

The private Onsen open-air bath in the guest room was excellent.

The facility is overall old, but there are both free and private lounges, and the room with an open-air Onsen bath felt reasonably priced and a good deal. The temperature of both the large public bath and the in-room open-air Onsen was just right. The lounge only offered drinks in the morning, which felt a bit lonely. The souvenir shop was well-stocked. The white rice at breakfast was incredibly delicious.

    No towels provided

No bath towels for the room's bath. No towels for the washroom. It seems they expect you to use paper towels to wipe your face. I will not be using Rurikoh again.

It was a highly satisfying trip.

【Basic Plan】Enjoy Onsen and the Blessings of Kaga - Rurikoh Standard Plan 【Hoshi Wing, Open-Air Bath, Type A】Suite Japanese-Western Room (Japanese-Western Style) for a one-night stay starting October 28. The room included an open-air bath but was not humid inside. The layout separated the water area from the living space, and the bedroom had a thoughtfully designed sliding door with a bamboo blind style that provided privacy without feeling confined. For two people, the room was more than spacious enough, and we didn’t even use the sofa. The open-air bath and washing area were separated by glass doors, so even during this season, it wasn’t cold while washing up. Dinner offered many dishes in a semi-private dining space where we could relax and enjoy our meal. Being on the 5th floor provided great views with adjustable privacy screens that allowed us to enjoy Onsen comfortably. If I may point out minor issues: it was impossible to watch TV from the bed due to its angle, and there wasn’t a small table between beds for placing items like smartphones or water bottles—adding such a table would have been ideal. For these reasons alone, I rated my stay 4 stars instead of 5. I particularly loved the beanbag cushion in our room but regret not noting down its brand or product name before leaving—it’s something I wish I had done! Thanks to all hotel staff for their courteous service; we returned home feeling refreshed and satisfied. Thank you very much!

Following last month, this month as well

Visited again this month at my mother's request, this time with my brother-in-law, making it four of us. Our Room was upgraded to one with an open-air bath, which was amazing. The food was absolutely delicious, and we were very satisfied as we chose different main dishes to share and try various options. The Dobin Mushi was also delightful. My brother-in-law mentioned wanting to come back again, which made me happy. Thank you very much!

    Suite?

I was hesitant to write this review, but I decided to share the facts as they are. I booked a suite with an open-air bath in the Hoshi-no-Tou, which I understood to be the highest-grade building at Rurikoh. Having stayed here once before with a good impression, I booked the same Hoshi-no-Tou open-air bath suite (Suite A) this time. However, I seriously question whether this facility understands the meaning of "suite" or if they are aware of what they are advertising online. The moment I was shown to the room, I thought, "What? Is this the same grade of room as last time?" The room was particularly shabby, covered in dust as if it hadn't been cleaned, with broken furnishings left unattended, furniture with damaged corners, and floors stained all over. From the moment I entered the room, I felt nothing but anger and regret, thinking, "Is this really a room they call a suite?" I felt ashamed of myself for choosing this facility. There is so much I want to say, but I have no choice but to consider it an expensive lesson and move on. Please check the photos for yourself. The meals also had many issues, such as the odd order in which fish and meat dishes were served. Frankly, whether it's called Hoshi-no-Tou or a suite, I do not recommend it. It is all the more disappointing because my previous experience was good, and this family trip ended in regret. I sincerely hope Rurikoh will make improvements so that other guests do not have the same experience.

Great value for money! Just be mindful of the late-night dining options.

I stayed for two nights. The Onsen was spacious and very relaxing, and I especially enjoyed the open-air bath. It was also great to have 24-hour access to free drinks. I thoroughly enjoyed the taiko drum show as well. One disappointing aspect was the late-night dining spot, "Tsuki no Niwa." From the moment we entered, the service felt unfriendly, which dampened an otherwise pleasant experience. The beer tasted off (perhaps due to uncleaned servers?), and the five-skewer set of kushi-katsu all had identical fillings (minced meat?) that were different from what I expected, with a disappointing taste overall. Overall, it was a great facility, so improving the late-night dining experience could further enhance guest satisfaction. Thank you very much!

Celebration of Respect for the Aged Day

The room was spacious, and with the massage chair, both my mother and I were able to relax and relieve our daily fatigue. There was also a sauna where we could unwind and sweat it out, followed by delicious food and drinks, leaving us completely satisfied. My mother loved it so much that we made a reservation for next month as well. We are looking forward to it!

    Highly satisfied!

This was our second stay at Rurikoh. Perhaps because it was a weekday, we were able to enjoy a very relaxing time. The food was incredibly delicious, and we were extremely satisfied. The staff who attended to us were knowledgeable and attentive, which left a great impression on us. The bath was clean and at the perfect temperature, with the open-air bath being especially comfortable. We were also pleasantly surprised to find a massage chair in the Room. We would love to visit again with family members who couldn't join us this time.

    The bath is amazing!

The first impression upon entering the Room was an unpleasant smell. I couldn't identify the source, but it was noticeable (the toilet smelled better due to the scent of the toilet paper). The peeling and lifting wallpaper in the Room stood out, which was disappointing. However, the staff's service was polite and excellent. The bath was spacious and enjoyable, and I found great satisfaction in the atmospheric open-air bath at night. While my impression of the Room itself is very poor, I am overall satisfied thanks to the luxuriousness of the building as a whole, its services, and its baths. *Due to noticeable aging of the building, renovation is recommended.*

    The rooms are excellent.

The rooms were spacious and wonderful. Dinner was delicious, and we enjoyed it as a family. However, the breakfast buffet was designed in a way that required guests to line up in a single file, similar to a school cafeteria, resulting in unnecessary waiting times of up to 30 minutes. Additionally, even getting seconds required lining up again, which was very disappointing. Simply rearranging the food layout with better consideration for guest flow could easily solve this issue. Unfortunately, the same situation occurred every morning with long lines forming unnecessarily. We hope small improvements like this can be addressed for a better experience.

    Dinner

One-night stay with dinner at the 1st-floor restaurant featuring the chef's signature Japanese cuisine. Overall, the ponzu sauce was too acidic, and the seasoning overpowered the natural flavors of the ingredients, making it less enjoyable. The final dish was red miso soup and a sea bream dashi chazuke-style dish. Unfortunately, it felt a bit disappointing for a trip all the way to Kanazawa.

Great value and highly satisfying stay!

I stayed in the Hoshi-no-Tou A-Type with a private open-air bath. As a guest of Hoshi-no-Tou, I was excited to use the exclusive lounge, but I was slightly disappointed that alcohol service ended at 6 PM. The coffee options were also limited to just espresso and soft espresso, which was not what I expected. However, since there were few people using the lounge, it was nice to relax on the sofa. The room was spacious and had a sophisticated atmosphere—it was absolutely lovely. Above all, being able to enjoy an Onsen in the room was amazing! The meals were delicious as well. Being able to choose between fish or meat dishes added a nice touch. Thanks to early booking discounts and a Discount Coupon, I got an excellent deal and left completely satisfied!
