    It was very good.

    I was looking for an Accommodation to stay with my one-year-old, but every Hotel’s Japanese-style Room was fully booked, so I gave up and made a Reservation for a Western-style Room at another Hotel. I kept searching on IKYU until the last minute, found this flooring Room, and decided to stay here. The Hotel had the feel of a long-established Western-style Hotel, but the Room had been renovated, so it didn’t feel old. What surprised me most was how thoroughly everything was cleaned—even the corners of the Room were spotless. Even when my baby crawled around, there was no dust at all. We felt completely at ease. Thank you very much. Having a microwave and kitchen space was also very helpful. The bathroom had a washing area and was easy to use. Everyone—both at the front desk and on the cleaning staff—was very pleasant. Thanks to your thoughtful care in many ways, we were able to enjoy our stay with peace of mind. I’m glad we chose to stay here. When we stay in Nagano City again, we would love to stay here again. Thank you very much.

    The Room was small, ...

    The Room was small, but the bed was comfortable. I also appreciated the 12:00 checkout time. The front desk staff were pleasant and helpful. However, the toothbrush bristles splayed after one use, so I couldn’t use it in the morning. It was very disappointing since the other amenities were good.

    I was able to spend ...

    I was able to spend a calm and slightly elegant time. The welcome drink in the restaurant and the slightly larger Room were great. It’s a bit far from the station, but that made it quiet and relaxing. I would like to stay here again if I have the chance.

    To attend the Flower Corridor event

    I stayed on May 3, 2026 to attend the Zenkoji Flower Corridor event. It was conveniently close to the venue. However, although I believe this is a historic Hotel, I think the Rooms should be renovated. It was a twin Room, but the bathroom was small, there were few power outlets, and the ceiling wallpaper was peeling. Breakfast was delicious and the staff provided good service, so it was disappointing.

    Wonderful Hotel

    Everyone, including the restaurant staff, welcomed us with warm smiles and friendly service, allowing us to relax and enjoy our stay. The food was delicious as well. We look forward to visiting again.

    Long-Stay Suite

    While looking for Accommodation for a visit to Zenkoji Temple, I was a bit nervous because the Reviews were not very positive. Still, I made a Reservation for the renovated Long Stay Suite and headed there.\n At check-in, I was told the drinks in the Room refrigerator were free, so I thought it was lucky—but when I entered the Room, I was amazed. There was an incredible selection: several kinds of beer, sake, red and white wine, plus plenty of soft drinks. The compact kitchenette even had a full-featured BALMUDA oven microwave, so my partner and I agreed we should buy something nearby and do some simple cooking. We left the Room again and shopped at a supermarket we found past the nearby shopping street. We asked the front desk to lend us the cutlery we needed, then cooked dinner, ate, and enjoyed drinks—an experience that’s rare for a Hotel in the middle of town.\n The layout is separated and easy to use, but the issue was the air conditioning. It seemed centrally controlled; even though it was still chilly in early spring, it felt uncomfortably warm inside. Cracking open the dining-side window made it just right.\n Breakfast was a set menu, but it was carefully prepared and delicious. The dining area was spacious as well, so it felt comfortable.\n It’s about a 10-minute walk from Zenkoji Temple and about 5 minutes by taxi from Nagano Station, so the location is quite convenient. Overall, choosing this Room worked out well for us—we were satisfied.

    I stayed here again ...

    I stayed here again for my visit to Zenkoji Temple. It feels reassuring. Next time, I’d like to come during the Tomyo Festival.

    Odor

    The moment I entered the entrance, there was a smell like drainage pipes, which was disappointing! The response was that it happened because there had been a banquet. When I tried to fill the bathtub with water, it felt rough and hadn't been properly cleaned, so I requested to change the room. Although staff checked the roughness, their response made it unclear whether they actually confirmed it or not. Is it impossible to address issues not covered in their manual? I was guided to another room, but this time the bathroom's ventilation fan wasn't working and it became steamy! At breakfast, crumbs were left on the table and hadn't been cleaned up properly, which was unpleasant. I had heard this hotel has prestige but wondered if they only value appearances—it was disappointing! It's unfortunate that this Accommodation I carefully chose turned out like this. I will be more cautious when making Reservations in the future.

    Very good Hotel.

    A long-established hotel in Nagano City with a wonderful atmosphere in areas such as the lobby and restaurant. The local families are fans of the Japanese restaurant "Kigen Saryo," and I also visit it with my family when I return home. This time, I stayed for the first time as an accommodation before a memorial service. During the three-day weekend, even simple business hotels in Nagano City were quite expensive (sigh). While thinking it was wasteful just to sleep, I found that Saihokukan offered their usual price plan (joy!). Not only was I able to save on travel expenses, but I also enjoyed a relaxing stay in a lovely room, making it feel like a true getaway. The complimentary welcome drink upon presenting the room key was delightful, and the plum tea provided alongside green tea in the guest room was soothing after a day of travel—high points for this thoughtful touch. Additionally, they kindly accommodated our requests such as luggage storage after check-out and preparing a room for changing clothes after lunch. Their attentive hospitality is truly characteristic of an established hotel. While there were moments when water pressure from bathroom faucets felt weak depending on the time of day—showing some signs of age compared to newer hotels—I look forward to future facility updates. If someone asks me about accommodations in Nagano, I can confidently recommend this hotel. Thank you very much for your excellent service!

    Good.

    I stayed at this accommodation 35 years after admiring it as a child when I used to pass by the hotel every day on my way to school. Although it's an old hotel, the room was clean and well-maintained. The dinner course was personally as delicious as a French restaurant in Ginza Six. The double main course had just the right portion size, perfect for me. Next time, I’d like to stay for two nights instead of just one. Thank you for the delicious meal!

    I visited Obuse and Zenkoji. It’s about a 10-minute walk from Zenkoji. The approach to the temple was lively and enjoyable. The Hotel has an old charm but is clean, quiet, and comfortable. The Mikimoto amenities were also excellent. Breakfast was not a buffet; you could choose between Western or Japanese style and enjoy it at your own pace. I would love to stay again!

    A tranquil Hotel with less convenience.

    About 15 minutes from Nagano Station. Located between Zenkoji Temple and the city center, slightly away from the bustling area, so expect a few minutes' walk to the nearest convenience store. While it is an old Hotel, it is clean and offers excellent service. The guest rooms feature a classic design with a charming atmosphere recommended for women. The Facility feels somewhat outdated, which may cause slight inconvenience. For example, there are no power outlets near the bed, so you can't charge your phone overnight and use it immediately upon waking up (laughs). Basic amenities are provided.

    Comfortable Stay

    The hospitality of the front desk and other staff was excellent, allowing us to relax and recover from the fatigue of walking extensively at Togakushi Shrine. Although the Facility shows some signs of aging, we were able to spend our time very comfortably. The welcome drink along with the ordered snack set was delicious, and we would love to have dinner here next time. The location being midway between Zenkoji Temple and Nagano Station made it convenient for walking to both places.

    Enjoy a fulfilling time...

    This is a historic and highly admired hotel. The deciding factor for choosing this plan was the "Western-style course meal exclusive to guests," which seemed very appealing. I was especially looking forward to the Shinshu wild venison. The course started with a delightful dish, and each item was carefully prepared and elegantly presented. The flavors were well-balanced, allowing me to savor the meal at a leisurely pace. Not only in the restaurant but throughout the hotel, all staff members were courteous, making it a very comfortable stay. The hotel itself is located in a quiet area away from the hustle and bustle, yet it offers excellent access to Zenkoji Temple and shopping streets, all within walking distance—a location I truly appreciated. Highly recommended as an accommodation near Zenkoji Temple!

    We had a relaxing stay.

    I reserved two rooms with my sister and her spouse. From the front desk service, I felt it was a very nice hotel. Perhaps because it was a weekday and not crowded, we enjoyed welcome drinks leisurely on the terrace and were recommended an izakaya that seemed open even late at night. The room was spacious, the bathroom was large, and everything was comfortable. For breakfast, we chose between Japanese or Western cuisine during check-in and could make detailed choices during the meal. The restaurant had a quiet atmosphere with a great ambiance. It received high praise from my sister and her spouse as well; I would love to stay here again if given the chance.

    The meals were delicious.

    The dinner was more delicious than expected. The dishes were impressive, with cold items served cold and warm items served warm, even down to the plates, which is not always the case at many places. It was disappointing that only the bedding for the bed was old.
