There were some good points, but I felt it would be difficult to visit again.
The meals were delicious, and I was especially satisfied with the seafood. I also appreciated being allowed to use the pool before check-in and being able to check in earlier than planned. There were also family-friendly touches such as light snacks and drinks in the lounge and a pool that children could enjoy. Although the weather was unfortunate, the view from the Room and the sound of the waves were soothing, which was a positive point. On the other hand, overall I did not feel fully satisfied, and I would not want to visit again. During our stay, it seemed that construction work was being done in a nearby Room, and we could hear construction noise throughout, so we couldn’t relax. Also, after breakfast it seemed that a breaker in our Room tripped; some lights and the TV stopped working, and we couldn’t charge electronic devices. My wife also had trouble because she couldn’t do her makeup. However, when we informed staff, their response was only along the lines of “Oh, okay,” with no apology or explanation of what was happening, which left us very disappointed with the service. Aging throughout the Facility also stood out. Under one of the sofa cushions in our Room there was quite a bit of hair on the floor, which made it feel like cleaning wasn’t thorough. The kids’ area also felt somewhat unhygienic; paint on parts of the pool had peeled off, and it was hard to tell whether what we saw was dirt or wear over time—overall it didn’t feel very clean. We were looking forward to using the jungle spa as well, but there was a strong unpleasant odor on the stairs leading there, so we decided not to use it. Lastly, I questioned why items in the kids’ area—such as an out-of-service carousel (currently closed), cotton candy/popcorn machines, and Plarail train toys—were paid services. Each time you want to use them you have to go to reception to pay beforehand; this system feels inconvenient for families with small children. There were good points such as meals and child-friendly services; however, if maintenance management of equipment/Facility areas (including cleanliness) improves—and if customer service during unexpected issues is handled better—I believe this Accommodation could become much more satisfying overall.

Kid-friendly
The restaurant staff, both Japanese and international, were very friendly, and we truly appreciate it. We were also grateful for their thoughtful attention. The pool, kids’ area, and playground were excellent—thank you very much.

We enjoyed our stay.
Years ago, a former colleague gave me a brochure for Katara Fukushima-ya as a recommended Accommodation. More than ten years have passed since then. The building felt a bit worn, and the deodorizer smelled like a restroom air freshener. Even so, I wanted to visit this Accommodation again—because it is doing its best despite its age. Our Room was a corner Room and was very spacious, which was great. The large public bath had an ocean view, which was wonderful. The water quality was excellent and kept me warm for a long time. The meals featured Shizuoka-style dishes and were very satisfying. For two people, two nights with breakfast and dinner included for under 90,000 yen, this was more than enough value. It’s close to the station, but the slope is steep, so they also provide pick-up and drop-off to the station. I’d like to go again.

Recommended for trips with three families
The building is old, but it was well maintained. We stayed in a special room with a living room as three families. The grandchildren were thrilled by how spacious it was. It came with a jacuzzi and a sauna. They had a great time eating snacks and ice cream in the lounge and playing in the pool. The sashimi was delicious.

It was cold.
The Kids’ Kingdom made the children very happy, and although the Room was old, we could relax with a great view. However, perhaps because it was a cold day, both the pool and spa had low water and room temperatures, so we couldn’t enjoy them much. At the very least, I wish the heating had been turned on. The staff’s service was very kind and excellent.

A Hotel that clearly shows it is making various efforts
A Hotel Kids Will Love There are lots of kid-friendly activities and amusements, so children will surely have an amazing time! (Parents are to blame, but) you can hear kids making noise and running around late at night, constant screaming, and some children even run around in the restaurant. The overall manners are poor. Towels also cost extra (probably because otherwise people would keep asking for more and more…). I also saw a few families where parents were throwing toys and play equipment… It’s a difficult time to run a business these days, but I hope they keep doing their best as a Hotel where kids can have fun. The staff work very hard, but it was hard to honestly feel like I want to come back.

The lounge was very convenient.
We stayed as a family of four. Since we booked our stay mainly to use the spa, pool, and kids’ area, we were very satisfied. We especially made great use of the lounge. Regarding service, we realized at check-in that our Reservation did not include the children, but the staff responded quickly and we were able to stay—truly grateful.

Bus driver, please help with my suitcase! (T_T)
The bus driver did not leave the driver's seat at all. It was disappointing that they didn’t assist, especially since I had children and needed help getting on and off. The final impression was very unpleasant.

Perfect for families with children
The kids' space, though small, was creatively designed, and my 1-year-old son had a great time playing there. The pool floor was very slippery, and the stairs felt extremely unsafe. Since we visited on a weekday, the Onsen, pool, and dining area were not too crowded, making our stay comfortable. I found the lounge lacking as there was no coffee available for non-alcohol drinkers like me. However, my family enjoyed the snacks, ice cream, curry, and ramen provided. Dinner featuring seafood bowls, crab dishes, and tempura left us full every night! There were also plenty of options suitable for my son to eat, which was very helpful.

We enjoyed a family holiday even during the typhoon!
We visited Atagawa Onsen with our 2-year-old son. Although we couldn't enjoy outdoor sightseeing due to the typhoon, the hotel's activities were incredibly fulfilling. The heated pool had slides and plenty of play equipment suitable for toddlers, which made our son very excited. The room offered a stunning ocean view from the top floor. The Onsen, including both open-air and indoor baths, was set at a temperature safe for toddlers, allowing our son to experience his first open-air bath. The meals featured delicious seafood unique to Izu as well as a variety of Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes. We look forward to visiting again next year!

Lost items cannot be recovered. The desk by the window in the guest room had dust on it, and once I noticed it, I couldn't stop thinking about it (laughs). The children seemed to have a great time.

Repeat guest
Perfect accommodation for families with children. It would be great if dinner buffet times could also be reserved when completing the reservation. Not being able to secure 5:30 PM and having dinner at 7:30 PM might feel a bit late for those with young children.

We enjoyed it as a family.
It was a one-night stay in a Japanese-Western style room for three generations of our family. Since we had a one-year-old child, the shoji paper in the room was removed for safety, allowing us to stay worry-free. We also enjoyed the indoor heated pool and table tennis, creating wonderful memories.

Accommodation specialized for families with children
Families with young children may often worry about crying or noise. Our child is 2 years old, so we carefully choose accommodations with this in mind. At Katara, many families with children stay, so we didn’t have to worry and could enjoy our stay comfortably. It’s a very valuable accommodation. Our child had a great time playing in the pool and kids' room. The reason for giving 3 stars for the facility is that the stairs and hallway leading from the pool to the changing room were wet, which felt slightly unclean. It would be great if this could be improved. The meals were delicious, and overall, it was a very satisfying trip!

I stayed in a special Japanese-Western Room, but the sofa had noticeable stains, and I didn’t feel comfortable sitting on it. The sauna temperature was also not very high. I was looking forward to staying in this higher-priced room, so it was disappointing. I hope the stains can be removed at least. Additionally, the pool had an unusual smell. Regarding the restaurant service, I felt sad seeing a senior staff member scolding a junior staff member harshly in front of guests. Please handle such matters away from customers if possible. The meals were very satisfying.

Family Trip
The seafood bowl at the dinner buffet was delicious. The pool and jungle spa were slightly different from the photos, but the kids still enjoyed them. It was disappointing that many parts of the wooden deck on the balcony of the Room with an open-air bath were deteriorated, and there were few usable lockers in the pool changing room due to broken locks. Overall, we were satisfied.

The footsteps of children running around in the Room upstairs were extremely noisy.
The facility is old, but the cleanliness and staff service were excellent. The food was also delicious. The heated pool and bath were very enjoyable. However, the noise of children running around in the room above was extremely loud until around 10 PM on the night of our stay and from about 7 AM the next morning. I believe this is due to a lack of soundproofing in the floors because of the old facility, and I even considered filing a complaint with the front desk.

The attitude of all ...
The attitude of all the staff involved from check-in to check-out at this accommodation was highly questionable. The front desk operation was terrible, and the attitude of the shop clerk was equally bad. Even a business hotel costing 10,000 to 20,000 yen per night has better operations, which was surprising in many ways. Additionally, not only the hotel staff but also the taxi company’s service was poor; despite it being Golden Week, there seemed to be only one taxi available. Having visited various places in Izu before, my impression of Izu Atagawa has now become extremely negative.

Family Trip During Golden Week
Stayed during the Golden Week for a family trip. The building is old, but there are features that children would enjoy. It seems especially enjoyable for preschool-aged children. This time, we reserved a room with an outdoor onsen bath, and the pricing seemed reasonable. Although the buffet had a wide variety of dishes, the taste was mediocre. Considering the low price, it might be understandable.

Memories of Youth
Over thirty years ago, during a family trip when my children were still small, one of them fell ill and we had to visit a hospital. At that time, the staff kindly guided us to a nearby hospital and even brought items like an ice pillow and rice porridge directly to our room. I still remember how touched I was by their thoughtfulness. Since then, I’ve always wanted to return. This time, I visited with my parents. The large public bath was spacious, and the open-air bath was incredibly relaxing. Being able to use the public bath until morning and enjoy both men’s and women’s baths at different times was wonderful. The Jungle Spa seems like a great place for kids to enjoy various types of baths as well. The food was delicious, and the view from our room was spectacular. Next time, I’d love to visit with my grandchildren!

We stayed as a family of four with our 6-year-old and 1-year-old. Our main purpose was to enjoy the pool and jungle spa, but both had leaks from the ceiling, which was unpleasant. On the first rainy day, the pool water was cold, making it uncomfortable, but the next morning was sunny with a comfortable temperature. Since it was a weekday, we had the place almost to ourselves and enjoyed using the complimentary rental float rings. The jungle spa's slide was so much fun that we went down it at least ten times; however, there weren’t many other highlights. Dinner included small portions of crab and seafood, while breakfast featured an automatic pancake maker that we found entertaining. We appreciated being able to give steamed vegetables to our 1-year-old son. We stayed in a suite room where our 1-year-old used the private bath instead of the public one; unfortunately, dust floated in the water after filling it up. However, we loved having multiple open-air baths on the third floor. The front desk staff were polite and helpful; however, some cleaning staff lacked friendliness. Our 6-year-old daughter especially enjoyed both the pool and trampoline and is already asking to visit again!

It was an enjoyable and satisfying stay.
Before my niece started elementary school, my mother, myself, and my brother's family of five stayed for 2 nights and 3 days. There was a pool, a SPA, and a kids' Room, which made my niece very excited. Even though my mother didn't go into the pool, she seemed to enjoy the Onsen. I, who usually don't soak much, found the water temperature and breeze just right, and I visited the Onsen multiple times. The view from the Room, overlooking the ocean with the sunrise and the beautiful starry sky, was absolutely stunning. The meals were fulfilling, and the seafood, especially the sashimi and crab, was delicious and very satisfying. If possible... I wish there were lunch options available, even for an additional fee. A buffet might be difficult, but perhaps a pre-order bento box style could be considered. Thank you for the wonderful time.

I had a great time.
First, the view of the sea and horizon from the balcony and the faint sound of waves heightened the sense of excitement. The baths, which alternated between men and women, were wonderful. I was pleased to find a sauna. My 2-year-old nephew was able to comfortably enjoy the various activities. The dinner and breakfast buffets were so diverse that it was hard to choose, but we were able to enjoy a well-balanced meal. (I apologize for my nephew dropping food on the floor... Thank you for cleaning it up immediately.) I gifted my brother a 2-hour massage for his birthday, and he returned very satisfied, saying the detailed professional treatment and advice were very helpful. Thank you. The shuttle service staff were also kind and helpful, making the journey to and from the hotel easier. One thing, while I understand the tradition, I would have preferred the futons to be laid out for us upon arrival at the Onsen. However, we enjoyed the experience of laying them out ourselves. We look forward to visiting again with our family in a different season. Thank you for your hospitality!

The sashimi was luxurious.
The building and rooms had an old-fashioned feel, but the children really enjoyed the indoor pool. They didn't even go to the hot springs and played in the pool the whole time. It was great that we could use it before check-in and after check-out. The meals were luxurious with sashimi, and the presentation was wonderful. We were full with snow crab and sashimi. We were very satisfied. We would like to use it again.

Family trip
The hotel itself was an old structure, but it was truly a blessing for families with children! We stayed for 2 nights and 3 days, and the facilities were so well-equipped with an indoor pool, spa, play area, and game center that we could spend an entire day just enjoying the hotel. The view from the room was also fantastic. The food was delicious both in the morning and evening, with a wide variety, and we were grateful that our child could have a proper meal. There were also children's plates, chopsticks, and aprons available, which was very helpful and perfect for families with kids. We definitely want to use it again! Thank you very much!

Dinner was a fish feast!!
I was drawn to the pool when I made the reservation, but I was surprised by the abundance of fish at dinner! The variety of sashimi was amazing, but the quality of the fish used for sushi was even better, and it was incredibly delicious, which surprised me. Also, the ceviche made with sashimi in small bowls at the salad corner and the seafood appetizers lined up above the salad corner were very tasty. I ended up eating appetizers and sushi endlessly, to the point where I don't remember eating anything warm. My son also enjoyed the curry, fruits, and tempura. Honestly, getting admission tickets to a nearby theme park and staying on a Saturday for three people for 40,000 yen is an incredible value for money!

Good for families, but there are some drawbacks too.
We stayed as a family of four during the summer vacation. [Positive Points] - The kids enjoyed the pool, morning and evening buffets, and the kids' space. - Welcome drink service at the front desk. - The view of the sea from the room was nice. - Shuttle service from the station. [Concerns (Improvement Suggestions)] - The welcome drink machine ran out of milk? Pressing for a café latte resulted in black coffee (there was a lot of coffee-like liquid in the nearby leftover bucket, suggesting others had the same issue). - No lifeguard (staff) at the pool. - The pool and lockers were far apart, and the passageway for moving between them was dirty without towels, etc. - Some kids' areas were unavailable because our stay was on a weekday during the Obon holiday (disappointing given the higher prices during Obon). - There was a dead cockroach on the room's balcony... - During the dinner buffet, our room was a bit far, making it difficult to get food, and 90 minutes passed quickly. - The place where everyone put their finished plates during the dinner buffet was full, and there was no place to put ours... We had to ask for them to be cleared before they finally did. - The building is very old, so I wouldn't recommend it.

This is a hotel where you can have fun all day even if the weather is bad.
I visited with my family during the summer vacation. I've lost count of how many times we've been here, but we've been repeating since my child was in diapers. Room The sunsets and sunrises over Izu Oshima viewed from the balcony are truly beautiful. Depending on the room, you can overlook the streets of Atagawa with rising steam, adding to the charm. Meals It might depend on the season or the supply situation, but the crab legs at dinner and the dried horse mackerel at breakfast were impressive. The vegetable dressing at the salad bar was very delicious, and I enjoyed plenty of salad every day. I hope they continue to offer this. As many have written, the menu is extensive, so you won't get bored even if you stay for consecutive nights. Also, there are many guests with children, and even if a baby cries, you can enjoy your meal with peace of mind as everyone is warm and understanding. The lunch menu is limited, but they do offer lunch service, and takeout is available. The portions are generous, which was very helpful for our family. Activities Even on typhoon days or snowy days, you can let the kids play to their heart's content in the spacious kids' room, indoor hot spring pool, and Jungle SPA. It's a bit chilly from the pool to the locker room, so it's a good idea to wrap yourself in a bath towel when moving. The distance is only a few meters, but you can stay comfortable until the shower. Around the hotel, there are beaches, foot baths, hot spring towers (where you can make hot spring eggs), and a banana crocodile park within walking distance. Atagawa has many slopes, so it's good to prepare your footwear properly. Hotel Initiatives Every time we visit, there are new initiatives, and I'm impressed with their corporate efforts. This time, a game machine for children (100 yen per play) was introduced in the "Children's Country," and we enjoyed making cotton candy at the festival event. However, the projection mapping was suspended in exchange, so I hope it resumes after the festival event ends. Additionally, two new coin-operated massage machines were installed, and they could be used 24 hours a day after a bath. Currently, in Atagawa, red lanterns are lit throughout the town as part of the "Atagawa Taiwan Lantern Project." The hot spring town, which becomes a bit lonely at night, allowed us to enjoy a stroll after a long time. The open-air bath also offered a different atmosphere with the lantern lights, and we had a wonderful time.
