Family Trip
We stayed with a large group, gathering relatives from Ehime and the Kansai area. For our Konpira pilgrimage, the entrance had walking sticks, straw hats, chilled hand towels, and towels prepared, which was very helpful. It was also nice that our grandfather, who wasn’t going to Konpira-san, was allowed to use the lounge before check-in. The indoor bath also had a separate shower room, making it comfortable and relaxing even on rainy or cold days. The Room had a large window, a daybed, and two chairs, so we were able to unwind and relax. Breakfast was an irresistible selection for egg lovers—we really enjoyed it. The only disappointment was the dinner buffet selection. There were a lot of carbohydrates (maybe just local preference), but neither the meat nor fish dishes tasted particularly good, and there wasn’t much we wanted to eat. Still, we were able to relax with drinks again in the lounge afterward, so overall we were satisfied.

The Room is clean, but the meals are disappointing.
The Room had been renovated and was clean. The view from the open-air bath was lovely—when we opened the door at night and looked outside, the stars were beautiful. The most disappointing part was the food. We chose the upgraded private-room course, but there were too many hot pot dishes, and it felt like they simply bulked them up with wakame seaweed and bean sprouts. The dishes themselves lacked care or originality, so it was disappointing given how much we paid. Also, some of the small plates were dirty; when I wiped one with the hand towel, it turned yellowish, so I didn’t use it. Service during dinner was also poor: there was no explanation of the dishes or how to eat them (which sauce to use, how long to cook the hot pot before eating, etc.). The staff spoke in an overly casual manner, and when we ordered drinks their replies sounded annoyed. Compared with other Ryokan we’ve stayed at, both service and food quality were low. It may be fine for families looking for a lively trip together, but I don’t think it’s suitable for those who want a quiet, relaxing stay in a private room.

I had a wonderful time with my grandchild.
I have stayed here several times. I really enjoyed the breakfast. Since I was traveling with my grandchild, she was delighted to have plenty of soft-serve ice cream and fruit. She is an elementary school-aged granddaughter, and she loved the rose bath—the fragrance was wonderful. In the morning, we climbed up to Konpira-san. Since this Hotel is located along the approach, it was easy for us to make the climb. It might be a good idea to visit before breakfast. They also had children’s yukata available, and my grandchild seemed happy to choose her favorite one. I would like to stay again. Thank you very much.

Experience Premium Comfort
We stayed in the Hatsune Premium Room. The in-Room Onsen and the lounge were excellent and very satisfying. In addition, we truly appreciated your thoughtful attention for our birthday at check-in and being shown to a private Room for dinner—the service was wonderful. Thank you very much.

Room has no windows.
Given the level of the Accommodation, even though I paid this rate for the Room, it had no windows at all—only a small window like the kind used to let light into a bathroom. I have never stayed in a windowless Room without being informed in advance. I felt I was treated terribly. Even during meals, the staff kept asking noisy questions one by one, and it was tiring having to worry about giving unnecessary replies.

We were very satisfied.
From the warm welcome on arrival to our departure the next day, we were thoroughly satisfied with the consistently outstanding hospitality. The international staff were also wonderfully attentive, and our whole family truly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel. The meals and the Onsen were especially excellent. We would love to stay again.

Room with Sauna
We stayed as a family of three. The Room had a sauna and two bedrooms, so my husband took one bedroom for himself and was very satisfied enjoying the sauna to the fullest. At the dining area, cups were provided so we could take not only coffee but also soft drinks back to our Room, which I thought was an excellent service.

Kotohira Shrine
I visit Konpira Shrine every year, so I wanted to stay at a nearby Hotel, and this is my second time here. The service is excellent, the bath is great, and I am very satisfied. I would like to stay again.

I’m glad I stayed here.
The warm hospitality, the wonderful view from the Room, and the delicious dishes made with local ingredients were all truly soothing. In particular, Mr. M, the male staff member who served us at dinner, provided attentive service that went above and beyond and left a lasting impression. It was a lovely Hotel worthy of a celebratory stay. If possible, I think it would be even better if the quality of the items in the souvenir shop on the first floor of the Hotel could be improved just a little more. Thank you very much.

The ideal Hotel for attending Konpira Kabuki performances
I stayed here to attend Konpira Kabuki. The Japanese-Western style Room was compact, but it was calm and comfortable with a nice view. Since I had a Multiple Night Stay, they changed the menu for the first and second nights, which I really appreciated. The grilled kiji fish with salt on the second night was especially delicious. Breakfast offered a wide variety of dishes, and they even had oiri soft-serve ice cream. The large public Onsen bath was spacious and clean. There was also a model of Kanamaruza in the lobby. Watching Konpira Kabuki and enjoying delicious meals made for a truly wonderful time. Thank you very much.

It was a wonderful and memorable stay.
(1) Close to the approach to Kotohira-gu Shrine, (2) the open-air bath in the Room and its view were wonderful, (3) the Room was a comfortable size, (4) the cuisine was luxurious, (5) breakfast offered a wide variety of dishes, and (6) the price was reasonable—overall, we were extremely satisfied. On our way back from Kotohira-gu Shrine, I tripped on the approach and sprained my ankle, but the front desk and staff kindly prepared compresses and an ice pack for me; I was truly moved by their heartfelt care. This is an Accommodation I would love to return to.

Changing the Room was absolutely the right decision.
I had secured the Hatsune Standard for a weekend, but I wanted a Room with a better view, so I checked for cancellations every day. Since availability rarely opened up, I adjusted my dates to a weekday and made a Reservation for the Hatsune Premium. The in-room open-air bath offered stunning views of both cherry blossoms and Sanuki Fuji. Dinner was the “dining venue selection left to the hotel” Plan, but we were shown to a private room, and the pacing of service was smooth, which was very helpful with children. However, it was disappointing that refills of rice and udon were not available, and that the adult dessert was only cut fruit. In my comment at the time of Reservation, I requested a Hollywood twin setup and mentioned that this trip was to celebrate my child’s kindergarten graduation. On the day, however, the beds were not pushed together, and there wasn’t even a simple “congratulations,” which made me feel like my note hadn’t been read. Because it was a weekday, the rose bath (baraburo), free massage chairs, and lounge were all quiet and easy to use. The fully blooming cherry blossoms seen from areas like the post-bath lounge were absolutely beautiful.

We were very satisfied.
This was my first stay, and I had a very pleasant time thanks to the Facilities, dining area, meals, hospitality, and the amenities after bathing. However, I was slightly bothered by noise from the neighboring room. Also, I’m sorry to say that the breakfast rice porridge tasted a bit too salty for me, so I left some. Since there were pickles as well, I felt it didn’t need added salt. Sorry about that. I also appreciated having a lounge where I could relax and spend some quiet time. The year before last, I completed the Shikoku Pilgrimage and now regret not staying here then. I would definitely like to stay with you again. Thank you very much for guiding me into an extraordinary experience.

We stayed in a Room ...
We stayed in a Room with a sauna and an open-air bath. It had two bedrooms and two toilets, and it was so spacious and spotless that it felt almost too much for just the two of us. However, when we tried to use the in-room open-air bath at night, there was very little lighting and it was extremely dark. Because we couldn’t see our surroundings well and the footing felt unsafe, we gave up using it at night. We used it the next morning instead, but since there wasn’t much time before check-out, we could only enjoy it once, which was disappointing. We would appreciate it if you could review the lighting so guests can use it safely at night. The food was delicious overall, but nothing in particular stood out.

This Accommodation is definitely one we’ll return to!
Three women stayed here. We booked a Room with lounge access, and it was great to relax and chat both in the lounge and in the Room. The Onsen was wonderful, and the food was delicious. We would definitely like to stay again.

The location was great, and the food was excellent.
I previously stayed at Kobai-tei and really enjoyed the breakfast, so this time I stayed for the first time at its sister property, Sakura no Sho. It is located by the 22nd step on the stairs to Konpira Shrine, and it is far from the lower parking lot, so I reserved Parking Lot No. 1 in advance (700 yen). The large public bath was a bit small for the number of Rooms, but it had two open-air baths and a sauna. The water did not feel like an Onsen (no silky feel or noticeable scent). The exclusive lounge offered beer (from an automatic dispenser), wine, sake, and snacks, but there were hardly any hors d’oeuvre-style small plates—perhaps because it was late—and there were only potato salad, cucumber, and tomatoes. I was able to relax while watching TV. My Room was a 4th-floor Japanese-Western style room with an open-air bath; it was listed as 30 m² but did not feel particularly small. It was clean, easy to use, and comfortable. However, the table in front of the sofa was too small; a slightly larger table would have been better for placing personal items. I had heard there would be many overseas tour groups that day, so in the morning I used the in-room open-air bath (ceramic), which was larger than it looked. Dinner was served in a private room that was spacious and comfortable. Both quality and quantity were very good. The appetizers were beautifully presented; sashimi included fatty tuna and abalone; and udon could be chosen from seven types. However, the meat for the mountain-and-sea teppan grill course was tough. Breakfast was buffet-style with many options, but I preferred Kobai-tei’s breakfast from my previous stay (it had more small sashimi bowls). It was nice that you could make your own udon as well—curry udon included.

It was a very nice accommodation.
All the staff were calm and kind, which made our stay very pleasant. We stayed in a Room with a sauna. The Room was spacious, and we enjoyed everything—the sauna, the cold plunge bath, and the outdoor bath. It was also great that we could play our own music in the sauna. We felt the service was worth more than the price.

This was my first time staying here.
This was our second stay in Kotohira, and this time we stayed at Sakura no Sho. There were three of us—my husband, my mother-in-law, and me—and we all agreed we’d like to come back again. The meals were delicious and could be enjoyed in a calm atmosphere. Breakfast was a buffet with a wide variety of dishes, and the seating areas were partitioned, which my elderly mother-in-law really appreciated. The baths were also great. Everything felt very clean and well maintained. Many of the staff seemed to be from overseas, but everyone provided very pleasant service, and it was clear they are well trained. We would love to visit again. Thank you very much.

Good Hotel
This was my second stay. I already knew it was a great Hotel from my last visit, and it truly is. The Facility has been renovated and is kept very clean. The meals also featured plenty of local specialties, which I really enjoyed. All the staff were kind, so I felt comfortable throughout my stay. I would love to stay again if I have the opportunity.

I was very satisfied.
I stayed here for a special occasion, and even though I didn’t mention it in advance, the Hotel kindly surprised me with a thoughtful gesture—I was truly happy. A great location, just a short walk to the approach to Kotohira Shrine. The view from the Room was also great!! It was a cold day with snow in the air, but the Onsen bath in the Room warmed me through and helped relieve my travel fatigue. I wanted to use the lounge, but I didn’t have time, which was disappointing… The massage chair in the large public bath was excellent.

Rooms with open-air baths are exceptional.
I stayed in a room with an open-air bath, and thanks to the window resembling a shoji screen, I could enjoy the bath comfortably without being directly exposed to cold wind. The dinner was excellent, incredibly delicious, and showcased the chef's remarkable skills. The breakfast offered a wide variety of dishes and felt very luxurious. I had an amazing time. Thank you very much!

Stayed in premium accommodation for two rooms with four people on January 3rd. Initially made a reservation for the exclusive villa course meal, but upgraded to the special course meal with an additional fee due to New Year's. Was looking forward to the "harmony of fish and meat" as described, but neither the fish nor meat featured in the photos were present during our stay. Uncertain what the photos used in the meal description represented. While it may be said that photos are for illustrative purposes only, the difference was too significant and disappointing. Felt similar to a basic course meal. Thank you for hosting us for one night regardless.

Overall, it was excellent.
The room was a standard "Hatsune" Room and quite ordinary. It was clean and well-maintained. The public bath had face towels and bath towels readily available, which was very convenient. The bath area itself was also very clean. The dinner buffet felt a bit cold, but it featured many local ingredients, which was great. Breakfast was delicious. Many staff members were from overseas, but their service was very polite and excellent. Overall, this is a Ryokan I would like to stay at again.

Positive Points: Sta...
Positive Points: Staff The staff, both Japanese and foreign, greeted us with smiles and provided courteous service, making our stay very pleasant. Positive Points: Meals Although it was a buffet style, the dishes were prepared with care and suited our taste perfectly. We were very satisfied. However, my child was a bit disappointed as there was no "beef steak," which is their favorite (laughs). Positive Points: Location This was my sixth visit to Kotohira Shrine, and the location of this accommodation near the approach path was the best so far. Negative Points: Noise from Upstairs Guests This is not necessarily the hotel's fault, but we could hear footsteps from guests staying on the floor above us—likely small children running around—which bothered us a little. Negative Points: Breakfast Seating Arrangement For dinner, we appreciated being guided to a semi-private room in consideration of our accommodation plan. However, for breakfast seating was on a first-come-first-served basis, leaving only spaces without any view available for us. It would have been nice if breakfast seating could also be allocated based on plans to provide better views during meals. Since it was New Year's Day when we stayed, there was a slight sense of higher pricing; however, compared to other hotels or ryokans we've stayed at before, this facility ranks high in overall satisfaction! It became another wonderful family memory for us. Thank you very much! We hope to visit again if we have another opportunity!

Thank you for your patronage.
I stayed here over the New Year. The Room, food, and service from all the staff were excellent. However, it was a bit disappointing that during breakfast, people constantly passed by right behind my seat, making it hard to relax. Additionally, while using the private bath in my Room, I couldn't fully unwind due to loud voices from children in a nearby room. Overall though, I am satisfied. Thank you very much!

Hatsune Premium
We stayed as a group of three, celebrating my mother's 80th birthday. The thoughtful gift for my mother and the special dessert with an 80th birthday chocolate plate during dinner were truly appreciated. All the staff were incredibly kind, making our stay both relaxing and heartwarming. It was wonderful to find an accommodation that provided triple beds for three guests (excluding extra beds). The room with a private open-air bath was absolutely perfect.

Excellent, but...
Thank you for your hospitality. During my Shikoku pilgrimage, I chose this Hotel as the best option for a solo stay in this area. Overall, everything was very good. If I may point out one downside, the area around the massage corner on the fourth floor was so noisy that I couldn't relax at all. I mentioned "it's noisy" twice to the staff performing the treatment, but it was ignored. It seems massages could also be done in the Room, so it was my mistake to request it at the massage corner. Additionally, at the entrance of the bath area, there was a staff member who said "One ice cream per person" and "One cup of sake per person." I wondered what would be best in terms of balancing her labor costs with making these items completely free to enhance revenue and customer satisfaction.

Convenient accommodation for visiting Kotohira Shrine.
The hotel's location was in a unique environment with narrow roads and steep slopes. In the exclusive lounge for Hatsune Premium accommodation guests, it was nice to have unlimited alcohol like beer and whiskey, but I found the snacks to be underwhelming. It would have been great to have options like cheese or salami, as having only rice crackers as snacks didn't pair well with the drinks.
