    Thank you very much for all your help.

    I was truly overwhelmed by the many wonderful paintings displayed throughout the property. The collection of rare vintage wines in the cellar—such as aged Romanée-Conti and Château Margaux—was also very impressive. After dinner, I took a walk through the garden and returned to my Room, only to realize my smartphone was missing, so I hurriedly consulted the front desk. Even though it was late at night, the staff worked hard to search for it, including in the restaurant that had already closed and deep into the garden. In the end, they also advised me to use my Apple Watch’s location feature, and we were able to safely find it where it had fallen into a gap between chairs in the entrance area. I sincerely appreciate all of your staff for their quick thinking and kind, warm support. It was a truly wonderful stay.

    It was a wonderful Hotel.

    While planning a trip to a remote island, I came across this Hotel. A Hotel on an uninhabited island? The mystery made the journey exciting. I had made a Reservation for dinner at 19:30, but at check-in I was told it would be earlier, so it was changed to 18:00. If I had known sooner, I would have planned accordingly and arrived hungry, so I would have appreciated advance notice. From the restaurant’s large windows, we had an excellent view of Mt. Fuji. Its appearance changed moment by moment with time—so beautiful it left me speechless—and we were able to watch the sun set at dusk, so in the end an earlier dinner time was actually perfect. The meal offered a wide variety of dishes with refined flavors and was truly delicious. Mt. Fuji could also be seen from the Room balcony and bath just as from the restaurant, and the magnificent scenery and quietness were deeply soothing. Although the space is sophisticated and high-quality, thanks to the staff’s thoughtful attention to detail, it also felt welcoming and relaxing throughout our stay. Next time, I’d like to visit in a different season.

    Next time, we’d love to bring our grandchildren along too.

    Although I was worried about highway traffic during the Obon holiday period, the drive went surprisingly smoothly and we arrived at the Hotel before 2:30 p.m. We were shown to our Room right away, then waited for the bar to open at 3:00 and enjoyed a welcome drink. At just the perfect moment, Mt. Fuji revealed its beautifully defined silhouette all the way to the summit, and we relaxed while taking in the view. After admiring the many artworks subtly displayed throughout the property, we enjoyed a full-course dinner for the first time in a while, served with beautiful tableware and cutlery. For some reason, only the final coffee/tea cup felt like something from a station-front Business Hotel, which surprised me a little. After dinner, we listened to a wonderful live piano performance in the lobby, making for an exceptionally calm stay. The staff—from seasoned professionals to younger team members—were attentive without being intrusive, which was truly comfortable and gave us a delightful mini-resort feeling. I’m impressed by how thoughtfully maintained and designed everything is so guests can enjoy this spacious property at an unhurried pace without any waste. Even though it was only for a short time, switching to a boat as part of the approach made me imagine how happy my grandchildren would be. Next time, I would love to visit with our whole family.

    It was great, and the food was delicious.

    Stayed with family The French course meal was well prepared and delicious. The open-air bath felt right next to the sea, and it was wonderful to be able to see Mt. Fuji. There were also live music performances, and the Hotel staff were extremely kind. It was better than expected, and our child said they want to come again. The building had a unique, bubble-era feel with lots of furnishings, but it’s large and seems like it could be used in many ways.

    An extraordinary island Hotel getaway that’s easy to reach even from the Tokyo metropolitan area

    Aug 7–9, 2026: Two-night stay for a mother and two children (3 guests) We took the Shinkansen from the Tokyo metropolitan area to Mishima Station. It was about a 30-minute ride on the Hotel shuttle bus to the port, then we boarded a boat right away and arrived at Awashima. There was lounge service with wine, juice, and coffee—perfect for anyone who enjoys alcohol. Dinner was French on the first night and kaiseki on the second. Both were beautifully prepared and truly delicious. The pre-dinner drink was complimentary; the sparkling wine was excellent. The meat in the French course was tender, and the Ise lobster sashimi in the kaiseki meal was outstanding. After dinner, we used drink vouchers given at check-in to enjoy cocktails at the bar. Breakfast is buffet-style, with carefully made dishes using many local ingredients. Even something as simple as ham tasted homemade and delicious. Champagne is also served in the morning, and the staff kindly came by to refill our glasses several times. Morning champagne while looking out over a beautiful garden—amazing. The open-air bath has an incredible location with views of Mt. Fuji across the sea right in front of you. Unfortunately, during our stay there were clouds around it somewhere each day, so we couldn’t see Mt. Fuji’s clear silhouette. We took a walk around the island; you can make a full loop in about 30 minutes. The water surrounding it is very clear, and we could see colorful fish. The aquarium next to the Hotel is small but has a warm, homey atmosphere. The explanations about each tank were fun, and we enjoyed seeing seal/sea lion/dolphin shows up close. It was also surprisingly interesting to watch frogs eating crickets at the frog exhibit. Every member of staff was very kind and provided heartfelt service. From Atami it’s just one more Shinkansen stop to Mishima—an easy trip from the Tokyo area as well. On our way home we stopped in Numazu (one stop from Mishima) for seafood to eat (and buy), making this a very satisfying trip overall. Next time I’d like to visit during a colder season when Mt. Fuji looks crisp and clear from the open-air bath.

    Enjoy nature

    A Hotel on a remote island. It’s quiet with beautiful views, and you can truly relax. The hospitality and service are solid, so you won’t feel stressed. We stayed for two nights, and both the French and Japanese meals were delicious, with just the right portions. The children’s meals also included many kid-friendly options, so our child enjoyed eating. The aquarium on the same island also has kind and attentive staff. You can watch dolphins before opening early in the morning and see many birds, making it easy to fully enjoy nature. We were very satisfied with the Hotel, but we have two comments. First, depending on the type of boat, there may be no luggage storage area, and large suitcases cannot be placed by your seat. When boarding, some Hotel staff helped with suitcases while others did nothing; unfortunately we encountered one of those staff members first, which made for a disappointing start. Second, in front of the women’s bath area—perhaps by coincidence—a fishing boat stayed there continuously, which we wished could be addressed. To enjoy a truly relaxing stay, we recommend staying at least two nights.

    As I had informed them in advance that it was my birthday and I wanted to see the wine cellar, they kindly arranged a wine cellar tour. The Room was a sea-facing corner Room, and at dinner I received a birthday message on my dessert, making it a truly wonderful stay.

    Long-established Resort Hotel

    Although it was during a typhoon, we also had some clear skies and the view was wonderful. The French dinner had a great atmosphere and was absolutely delicious. The staff’s kind service was excellent, and we truly enjoyed the wine you recommended as well. Next time, we would love to return for dinner featuring kaiseki cuisine. Thank you very much.

    It was an experience that exceeded my expectations.

    I stayed here 30 years ago for a company event. My wife said she wanted to see Mt. Fuji, so I suddenly remembered this place and made a Reservation. The building felt just as it did back then. The moment we entered the Room, my wife let out a joyful cheer. Mt. Fuji was hidden by clouds at first, but it showed itself the next morning—goal achieved. It was my 70th birthday, and being able to make my wife happy became the best gift of all. We had an excellent table for dinner, too. At breakfast, the staff promptly cleared empty plates and even brought a spoon before we asked. It turned into a wonderful anniversary trip.

    A one-of-a-kind Hotel you’ll want to return to again and again

    This was our repeat stay once again. No matter how many times we visit, the view of Mt. Fuji from the men’s open-air bath is truly breathtaking—something you can only experience here. Unfortunately, it was cloudy this time and we couldn’t see Mt. Fuji, but that just gives us something to look forward to next time. The French dinner made great use of local and seasonal ingredients, and we were completely satisfied with both the presentation and the taste. The portions were just right for us, and it’s also a pleasure to enjoy different dishes each season. The breakfast buffet was equally well stocked with both Japanese and Western options, and we enjoyed everything down to the fruit and desserts. It was a little disappointing that the made-to-order omelets from before are no longer available, but it’s understandable if it’s part of efforts to keep the Hotel running for years to come. Most impressive of all is the hospitality of the staff. At breakfast, for example, they kindly introduced recommended dishes in detail—it really came through that they pay attention to each guest, and we felt their warm consideration throughout our stay. Many paintings and artworks are displayed throughout the building; I’m not particularly knowledgeable about art, but simply walking around inside is enjoyable. The building isn’t new by any means, but on this remote island I can’t help imagining how such a large Hotel was even constructed in the first place. I was also impressed that such extensive Facilities have been maintained for so many years in a harsh environment surrounded by sea. We’ve stayed at many Hotels over the years, but Awashima Hotel is one of those rare special places that naturally makes you think, “I want to come back.” I hope this wonderful scenery and warm hospitality will continue unchanged for years to come, so it remains a beloved Hotel for many people. We’ll be back again.

    Using the convenient...

    Using the convenient Shuttle Service from Mishima Station, we arrived smoothly at Awashima before 3:00 PM. The building feels a bit dated in places, but it was clean and we felt comfortable throughout our stay. The on-site aquarium is small and homey, which made it possible to see penguins and turtles surprisingly up close—refreshingly different from the large city aquariums. We missed the shows this time, but would love to see them on our next visit. At dusk, I walked around the island alone; it was a little thrilling and even a bit scary at times, but it was a memorable experience that let me fully enjoy the unique atmosphere of an isolated island. Our spacious Room was very comfortable: that evening we relaxed in the large public Onsen bath to soothe our travel fatigue, and the next morning we enjoyed a luxurious start to the day with an in-room bath overlooking the sea. Both the French dinner and the breakfast buffet were delicious. Since it was summer, clouds blocked the view and we couldn’t see Mt. Fuji, which was disappointing. We’d love to visit again in winter.

    Relaxing Time

    Although there were some unexpected issues such as a Room change, the staff handled everything politely, and above all, the wide variety of dishes and how delicious the meals were made us very satisfied. However, I was concerned that there was no deodorizer in the Room. I was also surprised when a rhinoceros beetle showed up on the balcony.

    A Hotel where you can enjoy a relaxing resort atmosphere

    Surrounded by the sea, you can see Mt. Fuji from the Room balcony, and the stylish furnishings give it a great Resort Hotel feel. Both the French dinner and the breakfast buffet were delicious and satisfying. In the evening, I enjoyed cocktails at the bar and spent an elegant time listening to a live concert in the lobby hall. It was disappointing that the shop is temporarily closed, and prices felt a bit high.

    It was a cozy Hotel.

    Even though it was the rainy season, we were lucky to see Mt. Fuji and the blue sea. The Room (Japanese-Western style) was spacious and comfortable. Having two sinks in the wash area was a nice touch for four women, and the in-room bath was also large enough to relax in. We couldn’t finish our dessert at dinner, but they kindly brought it to our Room—both apologetic and delighted at the same time. It’s rare for me to want to stay somewhere again, but I’d like to visit here again soon. There aren’t many Hotels this comfortable, and I hope it continues for a long time.

    Moved by the Japanese-style room with a tea room!

    Awashima Hotel is a Mediterranean-style Resort Hotel on an uninhabited island in Suruga Bay with views of Mt. Fuji, and reaching it by boat adds a wonderfully out-of-the-ordinary feel. The marble lobby is lavish and glamorous, with paintings and sculptures displayed throughout, and the Rooms are spacious suites with an elegant, refined atmosphere. I really enjoyed the Western-style suite I stayed in last time, but this time I chose the Japanese-style Room “Sazanami,” which comes with a tea room. I wondered if it might be too large for one person, but the tea room near the entrance takes up a good amount of space, and the entryway and wet areas (the bathtub is made of ancient hinoki cypress) are generously designed. As a result, the main living area—an 10-tatami Japanese-style Room plus an enclosed veranda furnished with chairs and a table—felt just right. The tea room is modeled after “Jo-an,” a National Treasure tea house built by Oda Urakusai. I didn’t expect anything this authentic and was genuinely surprised. Jo-an is said to feature elements such as a 2.5-mat layout with an offset hearth position; the “Urakumado” window made from closely spaced thin bamboo; an angled wall beside the alcove (a diagonal enclosure); a small triangular board-tatami at floor level called “urokoita” (designed for ease of service while also creating a sense of spaciousness); and “koyomi-bari,” where old calendars are used as wall covering at waist height. Here, however, that lower wall covering is plain rather than patterned—simple yet beautiful. There are many reproductions of Jo-an around Japan, and I can’t really tell all their differences—but being able not only to view this tea room but also to try entering through the crawl-in entrance, drink sencha while mimicking tea preparation movements, or even lie down inside was an experience that truly let me feel its three-dimensional scale in a way that’s rarely possible. I loved the Room overall, but Wi‑Fi was difficult to connect to (there was notice about limited connectivity; public areas were fine). It was disappointing not to be able to freely look up information related to both travel planning and enjoying such special features as the tea room. Awashima is an island formed by submarine volcanic activity. A walking path allows you to circle most of it on foot, making it a nature-rich geo spot where you can observe columnar joints as well as traces left by wave erosion (Shishi-iwa). At the summit stands Awashima Shrine, long revered as guardian deity of Suruga Bay’s seas; you do have to climb some steep slopes to reach it, but that effort makes it all the more rewarding. My stay at elegant Awashima Hotel—surrounded by abundant nature—let me enjoy delicious meals along with soothing Onsen baths and warm hospitality from the staff for an unhurried yet luxurious resort experience. I didn’t have enough time for Awashima Marine Park next door and had only a quick visit there, but its exhibits clearly reflect care and dedication from its keepers—I’d like to take my time exploring it on my next trip.

    A Memorable Hotel

    We stayed to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Although we hadn’t mentioned it to the Hotel, they arranged a birthday surprise with dessert at dinner. When I asked, the restaurant staff said they noticed our conversation and quickly prepared it for us. It was a wonderful surprise not only for my husband but for me as well—I was truly moved and nearly teared up. The food was delicious, too. Throughout our stay, the experienced staff kept the perfect distance while offering warm, thoughtful words, which made us feel very comfortable. The quiet time and beautiful scenery soothed our tired hearts. We would love to visit again. Thank you very much.

    A place to enjoy a luxurious stay

    We had a truly wonderful stay. We checked in while seated, with a careful explanation, and it felt special from the moment we arrived. We chose the Western-style meal; the carpaccio enjoyed while looking out at the sea had a generous portion of fish and tasted excellent. The meat dish served with warm bread afterward was also very satisfying, with a sauce that brought out the natural flavors of the ingredients. The open-air bath overlooking the ocean was absolutely amazing, and we could also see the sea from the bath in our Room, which felt wonderfully luxurious. Also, when I accidentally dropped and broke a bottle of wine I had purchased at checkout, the staff responded quickly and courteously. Finally, as we left the island by boat, a staff member saw us off with a deep bow. It was truly an indulgent and special experience from start to finish. We were extremely satisfied.

    A Hotel That Enriches Your Life

    It was a wonderful Hotel. Even for us as a couple who travel almost year-round, it’s rare to find a Hotel this flawless—truly something special. From the breathtaking location with panoramic views of Mt. Fuji from nearly every spot, to the refined guest rooms, satin bed sheets, and lavish cuisine, we were thoroughly satisfied. The staff are all seasoned professionals and very elegant. Even the Onsen right by the sea is full of thoughtful touches, making time seem to slow down. Everything—from the wallpaper choices to the colors of the furnishings—is chic and tasteful. The entire property reflects the personality of the Hotel’s first owner, giving you an intimate feeling as if you’ve been invited to someone’s private villa. It feels as though the island’s origins and the Hotel’s history themselves become an irreplaceable charm that welcomes guests. However, perhaps because I read too many Reviews beforehand, I was disappointed that the Shuttle Service bus from Mishima Station was not customized to match the Hotel’s character as it apparently once was; instead, it was just a small, narrow, worn-out standard minibus—which really dampened my excitement at first. Still, having station Shuttle Service was exactly why we chose this Hotel in the first place; whether or not this service is available is a major deciding point. Aside from that one detail, everything about their hospitality was impeccable—it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say it became one of our life memories. And I felt that this wasn’t only thanks to the building itself as a “property,” but also largely due to the older staff who carry on its spirit. The unhurried time at dinner—watching through those large restaurant windows as sunset approached and before it sank into the sea—remains an irreplaceable moment we will never forget.

    The luxury of having nothing—an adults-only relaxing Hotel

    Overall, the staff were very attentive, and I am especially grateful for the wonderful service from the breakfast team and the experienced staff. Breakfast had a limited selection, but items like the warm vegetables and pickles, black soybean yogurt, and several kinds of muffins were particularly delicious. Even on a Multiple Night Stay, I never got tired of it. The morning champagne also had a crisp, refreshing taste; it felt lower in alcohol and was easy to drink. Above all, it was a happy morning with a great atmosphere. I was disappointed that there weren’t many types of salad vegetables, and I would have been even more satisfied if there had been cheese, cereal, or an egg station. Dinner featured elegant seasoning that made the most of high-quality ingredients; it paired well with sparkling wine and wine and was very enjoyable. However, the tables were placed too close together to relax comfortably. The sukiyaki beef also felt slightly tough, and overall I felt the portions were somewhat modest. As for the Room, stains on the carpet stood out, and it was inconvenient not to have power outlets around the bed area or on top of shelves, as well as no full-length mirror. That said, because it was a corner Room with a spacious balcony on the bedroom side, we could enjoy a sky full of stars; from the living room side we could see both the ocean and Mt. Fuji. The sound of waves was soothing, and occasionally large black kites perched on the balcony railing—we could observe them up close from inside the Room, which was a great experience. It truly became a wonderful stay that will remain in my memories. Since this is an Hotel on an uninhabited island with nothing around it, I would have appreciated a better-stocked shop or lounge—having light snacks or ice cream available would have been nice. Although staff offered assistance at times,the footing atthe pier is poor,the handrail is incomplete,andthe boat rocks,making boardingand disembarking somewhat dangerous even without luggage. At check-in,I requested only amenity replacement for our Multiple Night Stay,butthe next morning there were several phone calls confirming whether cleaningwas needed... I expected items like loungewearand toothbrushes to be replenished,buton thenight only towelsand waterwere provided. Therewas no explanation about dinneron our final day,and whenI asked laterat reception,the staff member remained facing their computer without explaining times,and simply asked,"What time would you like?"... The smile felt awkward,andthe conversation lacked warmth—overall,a disappointing response. If those aspects of service were smoother,I thinkit would have been an even more comfortable stay. Precisely because this is sucha rare Hotel unlike any other,I hope to see further improvements going forward.

    Everything is wonderful!!!

    I chose this Hotel to celebrate my birthday, and it felt like a wonderful legacy of Japan’s bubble era—a resort full of glamour and atmosphere. From the location and views to the gorgeous, carefully designed lobby, gallery, lounge, library, bar, and the spacious Room, everything was impressive. The Room layout—especially being able to enjoy the sea up close from the relaxing bathroom—was better than any Hotel I have stayed at before. The open-air bath downstairs let me gaze at Mt. Fuji while feeling as if I were soaking in the ocean itself. For dinner, I enjoyed a French course where each dish reflected the chef’s creativity, and I was truly touched by the complimentary sparkling wine for my birthday celebration. Breakfast was buffet-style, and we also enjoyed a morning champagne service on the terrace. The hospitality from the senior staff was impeccable as expected, and the younger staff worked very hard as well—I received truly satisfying service overall. Learning about Awashima’s history and this Hotel’s many eras and twists along the way was deeply moving, and I would definitely like to stay again in the near future.

    I was able to spend a relaxing time.

    We could feel the charm of a classic Resort Hotel throughout the property. During our stay, there were relatively few guests, which made it especially nice to enjoy the baths at a relaxed pace. On the other hand, it was a bit disappointing that there were no amenities such as facial lotion in the bath area. The items provided in the guest room alone felt somewhat insufficient. For dinner, the Japanese meal stood out thanks to the attentive service from our server, allowing us to enjoy a pleasant dining experience. As for the breakfast buffet, it felt unfortunate that the selection was somewhat limited and that some of the fruit had dried out. We were also lucky with the weather, and walking around the island was very refreshing; overall, we enjoyed a calm and relaxing stay.

    An exciting trip where you can experience the thrill of staying on an uninhabited island

    The phrase “stay on a deserted island” really resonated with me, and that’s what made me decide to book. The Mt. Fuji view was also a big plus. The Facility is quite old, but it’s well maintained and very clean. The view, the bath, and walking around the deserted island were all truly one-of-a-kind experiences.

    As a senior with limited mobility, I was able to disembark comfortably thanks to the excellent support from the Shuttle Service boat staff. I love traveling and have stayed at many Hotels, but I was especially pleased with the many paintings and artworks here. The view from the Room was wonderful, and the Japanese kaiseki cuisine was truly delicious. (Thank you to all the staff.) We also took the Shuttle Service bus to Mishima, enjoyed some delicious eel, and then headed home. (Thank you very much to everyone at Awashima Hotel.)

    Everything is top-notch, but I wish there were an elevator to the bathroom.

    Everything is first-class in every respect. If I had to mention one drawback, you need to use the stairs from the second floor to reach the bathroom. An elevator would be helpful for guests with limited mobility.

    A Nostalgic Look Back at Japan’s Bubble Era

    While searching with only the idea of taking a drive trip toward Shizuoka, I happened to notice a beautiful photo of Mt. Fuji seen beyond the sea with the Hotel in the foreground—that was what prompted this visit. I didn’t even know the first thing about Awashima, but after staying here this time, I completely fell in love with it. Awashima Marine Park was developed around the time Japan’s bubble economy began to take off, and Awashima Hotel—built right in the middle of that era—must have been a luxury Resort Hotel constructed with no expense spared. Thirty-five years have passed since opening, and while signs of aging that likely couldn’t be fully addressed after the bubble burst are impossible to hide, even so I was able to experience an abundance of elegance and indulgence. It was also fun to imagine just how pristine and glamorous Awashima and Awashima Hotel must have been back then. The book “Awashima Story,” placed in each Room, is well worth reading—especially the final page, which I found particularly helpful. During my stay, besides Awashima Marine Park, I enjoyed touring the wine cellar; inside the building there were also Awashima Gallery, the music hall “Odyssey,” Awashima Onsen, and drinks in the lounge—so much so that I hardly had time to relax in my Room. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. The hospitality from everyone involved at the Hotel, including the manager, was excellent and made for a very comfortable stay. The duvet cover and sheets on the bed felt like satin (I think) and were very pleasant. It’s hard to organize my thoughts into a neat comment, but there were impressive points throughout that really stood out to me. Awashima Hotel used to be members-only; since opening to general guests it has become more accessible, and until recently it seems Accommodation Fees were quite reasonable as well—but it appears they will move toward a more upscale positioning going forward. If prices rise too much it may feel less approachable again; however, since I didn’t get to see Mt. Fuji—the main highlight—I’d like to find another opportunity to return.

    The meals were Japan...

    The meals were Japanese cuisine, and the staff were kind; the portions were just right. Breakfast didn’t have a huge variety, but it had what we wanted and was more than sufficient. A staff member recommended sparkling wine, and we really enjoyed it. The Onsen was very convenient because we didn’t need to bring towels from the Room, but it would have been nice if there had been at least toner and lotion available. Also, my husband mentioned that it might be a little inconvenient that the men’s bath has only three washing stations. The Room was spacious and we were very satisfied, but around 1:00 a.m., some kind of noise started from somewhere and continued for about 20 minutes, which woke us up. Just as I was about to call the front desk, it stopped. What could that have been? Even so, it was a very satisfying trip. Thank you very much.

    Relax while enjoying views of Mt. Fuji

    We were blessed with clear weather and fully enjoyed the view of Mt. Fuji from our Room. The water facilities felt a bit dated, but the Facility’s grandeur reminded us of Japan’s prosperity during the bubble era. The marine park we stopped by on the way back was also old, but we could feel the staff’s care and it warmed our hearts.

    The Good Old Awashima Hotel

    This was my second stay. This time we were traveling with an infant, and we truly appreciated the wonderful hospitality and attentive service. We chose Japanese cuisine for dinner. Last time we had French, but every dish in the Japanese course was delicious as well. Centered on fish from Numazu, each plate was outstanding. Although it’s not shown in the photos, I love the breakfast at Awashima Hotel, and it’s one of the highlights I look forward to. The ham, sausages, and bacon were high quality, and the juices were carefully selected and very enjoyable. Staying at Awashima Hotel also includes access to Marine Park, which is a great bonus. Just as I felt last year, I was able to relax in the open-air bath as well. Thank you very much!

    It was extremely disappointing.

    I think I expected too much. This was my first time having an experience like this. There was just nothing... I can imagine it must have been amazing when it first opened. Paintings and artworks were displayed everywhere, giving the place a stately feel. First, I was shocked at the entrance—there were two heavy doors in a row, and even with luggage I had to put my weight into opening them by hand... The faucet in the Room was stiff and hard to turn on, and when turning it off it kept dripping for a long time and wouldn’t stop easily... The knob to open the cabinet where the refrigerator was located was also small and difficult to use. The Room itself was spacious with an ocean view, and luckily we could see Mt. Fuji—that was the only saving grace. The bathroom amenities were well stocked, but the loungewear was worn out. There were only two Japanese tea bags provided along with mineral water and a tea canister. There was no shop on site, so we went out as far as Marine Park looking for vending machines (only to find an “out of change” notice). Later we found a vending machine near where you head to the large public bath, but you wouldn’t know unless you went there—and there are only stairs up to the large public bath... According to my friend, Mt. Fuji is right in front of you from the open-air bath at the large public bath. I really wish they had mentioned at check-in that there’s only one vending machine available. And dinner, which I had been looking forward to... We were advised about what time would be best for beautiful sunset views and chose our time accordingly, but we were seated somewhere without a view—so it meant nothing. Well, due to the weather it didn’t really matter anyway, but there were seats with a view available... They used herbs in some dishes, but aromas are very much a matter of personal preference... There were no bread refills either, and drinks cost extra and were expensive. The breakfast bread didn’t suit our taste either; as soon as our plates started clearing they kept saying “Let me take that,” over and over—it wasn’t relaxing at all. Given that the price wasn’t cheap either, this stay—which I had high expectations for—was unfortunately disappointing; honestly it was a surprising experience unlike anything I’ve had before.

    About Your Stay

    The manners of some overseas travelers were disappointing. They were loud and disruptive in the restaurant. For large groups, I felt more consideration for other guests is necessary. The way the Onsen Facility was used was also disappointing; it is hard to identify who, but underwear had been thrown away in the trash can.
