Thank you for your flexibility.
Thank you very much for your flexible and thoughtful support during our stay. One member of our party required special consideration regarding meals, and when we contacted you by email in advance, you replied promptly and accommodated us as much as possible. We truly appreciated your kind response despite it being a busy season. The meal prepared for our family member did not look sparse or reduced in portion, was delicious, and above all, they were very happy with the care shown. Of course, any health impact related to meals is ultimately the guest’s own responsibility (I would like to emphasize this for the sake of everyone at the Hotel), but we were genuinely moved by how considerate your approach was. Not only at the restaurant, but also from the staff who welcomed us, at the front desk, and at the shop, your attentiveness and perfectly comfortable sense of distance made us feel at ease. We were able to experience the calm elegance and excellence of a prestigious Hotel with a long tradition. We are sincerely grateful. Thank you again—we would love to visit again.

A wonderful building...
A wonderful building that I hope will be preserved for years to come. Not only the main building, but also the lounge in the new wing is lovely. The large public bath is not an Onsen, but it overlooks Lake Towada and feels very clean. I love saunas, so it was great that you can also see Lake Towada from the sauna. It would be even better if there were chairs for outdoor cooling-off. However, the food was underwhelming. This was my first stay in about 10 years, and I remember the menu used to feel more distinctly Akita. In particular, dinner didn’t suit my taste and didn’t feel very Akita-like. It’s a shame, especially because the restaurant staff provided excellent service.

I thoroughly enjoyed it.
We visited for a family trip during the summer holidays. We drove there in a rental car from Kuroishi Interchange. The roads were quite steep and the drive was challenging. However, once we arrived, time seemed to slow down in the peaceful silence. The views of Lake Towada were beautiful, and the scenery from the large public bath was also wonderful. Dinner was delicious as well. We stayed in a Western-style room in the annex, but the main building is well worth seeing at least once.

Beautiful nature
Lake Towada and Oirase in summer are among my favorite places in Japan. Hotel Towada is perfectly located. The history, delicious food, and nature made for an incredibly relaxing stay. Thank you.

It is a wonderful building, and I was able to relax in a clean, spacious Room. The meals were all delicious, featuring local ingredients and seasonal dishes. The bath facilities were also excellent—the large public bath was very spacious, and amenities such as shampoo, conditioner, body soap, facial cleanser, and lotion were well stocked. There was also a lounge where we could enjoy coffee and tea, which was very comforting. From the warm welcome to check-in, the restaurant service, and seeing us off at departure, everyone at the Hotel provided outstanding hospitality and took great care of us. I felt refreshed both physically and mentally. Thank you very much.

Staff attitude
I stayed here because I wanted to experience traditional Japanese architecture. The Room and the bath were decent. However, the attitude of a male staff member ruined the trip.
Even though we were taking a commemorative photo at the Hotel entrance, he backed the Shuttle Service vehicle right up to where we were standing, as if to say, “Move!” Couldn’t he wait even a few seconds?
I felt this Accommodation was not worthy of being listed through IKYU.

The Good Old Days
The entrance to the main building, a designated Important Cultural Property, was beautifully crafted and truly captivating. I was deeply moved that such a wonderful structure has been preserved and maintained to this day. Check-in was handled with exceptional care and clarity, the guidance to our Room was courteous, and during meals they spoke briefly while still providing thorough explanations—everyone on staff was very pleasant. From the open-air bath, we could look out over Lake Towada and relax in the midst of magnificent scenery. The meals were carefully prepared using local ingredients and were delicious. The two of us finished everything at both breakfast and dinner. We were able to spend a peaceful time. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

It’s exactly one of those “whether it’s worth the price” situations.
As the Review said, if you ask whether it was worth the price... I can’t find any other words.

Style and tradition—an exceptional Hotel.
I was finally able to stay at Towada Hotel, an Accommodation I had long admired, using the Akita Discount Campaign for my trip to Lake Towada. With the great weather, I enjoyed a Room with a panoramic view of the deep-blue Lake Towada and an open-air bath. The old wing impressed me as well—the master craftsmanship of traditional carpenters can be seen throughout the building. The staff were truly top-class. Both dinner and breakfast service were flawless, and it had been a while since I encountered a Hotel where Japan’s spirit of hospitality was so thoroughly reflected. It was a stay that felt worth far more than the price.

37th Wedding Anniversary
As an architecture lover, this was a Hotel I had wanted to stay at for a long time, and it made our anniversary truly memorable. We were thrilled with the wonderful Room, and the meals were delicious—everything was very satisfying! My husband prefers hotter water and felt the large public bath was a little lukewarm compared to usual, but we really loved the bath in our Room... Thank you to all the staff for your thoughtful care and support.

It was a very good Hotel.
I stayed here the day before trekking in Oirase. Above all, the main building made of Akita cedar is not only beautiful but also exceptionally well maintained—well worth seeing. I could really feel this Hotel’s tradition and pride. Since I left early for the trek, my stay was short, but I think you could relax and unwind if you took your time here. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious, and it was a Hotel with great value for money.

A bit difficult to access, but well worth the trip.
I had long wanted to visit after seeing a poster of the main building’s entrance, which is also registered as a cultural property. The main building has Japanese-style rooms, while the new wing has Western-style rooms. I stayed in the main building, and the view was wonderful. The main building features superb decorations throughout, with extensive use of Akita cedar, and I never got tired of strolling around inside. The new wing, which houses the dining venue and large public bath, was also a lovely building with a luxurious sense of space. It was very comfortable. The large public bath doesn’t seem to be an Onsen, but the view from the open-air bath is outstanding. There’s also an indoor bath, sauna, and cold plunge pool—I ended up going in three times during my stay. I made a Reservation for a Plan with breakfast and dinner included. Dinner offered many dishes; each one was carefully prepared, and it was fun just to look at them. Of course, everything tasted excellent. For breakfast you can choose Western or Japanese style; I recommend the Japanese set because it’s more elaborate and beautifully presented.

The architecture is worth seeing, but
They felt it wasn’t quite worth the price. The view from the Room and the open atrium entrance of the old wing were lovely, but…

As expected from Fujita Kanko—outstanding hospitality.
We stayed as a family of three (2 adults and 1 child). Since no Japanese-style Room was available, we reserved a twin Room. I don’t eat much, so when we book plans with two meals included, I often end up feeling uncomfortably full. With an elementary school-aged child, it was a huge help that our child could be set to No Meals Included, allowing us to share the dishes. Even though there was no charge for our child’s stay, there was also no Facility usage fee, and they kindly provided free juice, rice, and miso soup with refills. They also prepared towels and amenities in the Room for all three of us. The staff at the front desk, restaurant, and shop were all very pleasant. The meals were delicious. It’s true that some breakfast items seemed pre-made, but everything tasted good so it wasn’t an issue at all. We love Lake Towada and would like to visit again—when we do, we will definitely return here.

The accommodation was wonderful in terms of hardware, software, and location. However...
The accommodation was perfect in terms of facilities, services, and location. I would definitely like to visit again. However, as is often the case with mountain resorts, I was slightly concerned about stink bugs in the room. Details: Front Desk: The welcome and front desk service were excellent. Room: The room was clean and comfortable. The view of Lake Towada in the morning was stunningly beautiful. However, there were quite a few stink bugs—about five when entering the room and another five before going to bed, which I dealt with using tape. Additionally, some debris fell from the ceiling onto the bedding occasionally. Onsen: The open-air bath was wonderful with odorless and clear hot spring water of excellent quality. Meals: Dinner featured local ingredients and was both enjoyable and delicious. Other: A short walk to a nearby embankment offered an indescribably beautiful view of Lake Towada at sunrise—a truly breathtaking location. The ceiling design in the room is architecturally impressive but has an older structure that likely allows stink bugs to enter due to insufficient sealing throughout the room. If this issue is addressed, it would become a truly perfect accommodation!

The Hotel offers delicious meals.
The IKYU benefits, such as vouchers and additional meal services, were great. The meals were very delicious!! Although it was not an Onsen, the sunrise view of Lake Towada from the large public bath was beautiful. However, the Japanese spoken by the foreign staff at the front desk was difficult to understand and their guidance was insufficient. The bed mattress was hard and thin, making it difficult to sleep well. Additionally, the lounge service was poor, and I felt that the cost performance was not good.

Quiet and Relaxing Accommodation
I was looking forward to the main building, and it was truly worth seeing as expected. The dinner venue was nearly full, but I could enjoy my meal in a quiet and calm atmosphere. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious with just the right portions. The staff's hospitality was excellent, making my stay very pleasant.

Water outage!
There was a water outage during the night. The cause might have been that the water tank was empty...? While the situation itself couldn't be helped, the response was terrible. When I asked at the front desk (hotel staff), they answered my questions, but there was no explanation from the hotel side at all. With unusable toilets, what were guests supposed to do??? On top of that, during check-out, there wasn't even an apology like "We are sorry," which was truly shocking.

Well-maintained and clean.
The building has some parts that are historically old enough to be considered cultural heritage, but every area is meticulously cleaned and maintained, ensuring top-class cleanliness.

A Quiet and Fulfilling Stay
I stayed on Friday. I enjoyed a very relaxing time in a calm atmosphere. I was impressed by the wooden window frames in the room and felt soothed by the view of Lake Towada from the window. The lounge and library were also exceptional. Learning about the hotel's history and the craftsmanship of its builders made me want to stay again.

Satisfied.
This time, I made the reservation to enjoy the building, so I didn't prioritize meals. However, the food was delicious without any issues. The building was just as I expected and very nice. The staff were all very kind and attentive. If I may add a small request, it would be to slightly increase the amount of hot water in the mixed drink...

Impressed by the excellent work of the female staff.
First of all, I was deeply impressed by the hospitality of the female staff. Additionally, their excellent approach to maintaining an appropriate distance with guests in the restaurant was outstanding. The attitude of the female staff providing service appeared charming as well. However, I was disappointed with the meals. Although it was a cuisine upgrade plan and I enjoyed the Japanese dishes, I found it hard to describe my feelings about the Western dishes. I stayed for three nights, but on the last morning's Japanese breakfast, most items seemed to have been taken directly from plastic bags meant for restaurant use and simply plated, leaving me feeling disappointed as I left the accommodation. That said, what balanced my feelings were all of those wonderful female staff members—they were truly amazing! On another note, I felt a lack of energy among the older male staff members. Boldly speaking, if operations were handled solely by motivated women, this hotel could be revitalized! It had been approximately 23 years since my last visit.

It was my first visi...
It was my first visit to Lake Towada, and I was very satisfied with my stay at this Hotel. The only concerns were the occasional noise from the air conditioner in the room and that while the Japanese-Western fusion cuisine was delicious and served in just the right portions, it didn’t pair well with my choice of alcohol. Although insects came to the open-air bath, there was a bug net available, so I could use it without any issues. The Hotel has a long history and is old but clean, and the staff greeted us warmly, making me feel this is true hospitality. I’m glad I chose this place. There are vending machines and a shop on-site, so even without convenience stores nearby, I didn’t feel inconvenienced during my stay.

The building is solid and exudes a sense of history.
The Hotel itself was grand and wonderful, but I was dissatisfied with the meals. The seasoning was not to my liking, and I wasn't satisfied with the tableware either. While the staff's hospitality was good, there were no greetings from the cleaning staff. (In the morning, I greeted them with "Good morning" while they were cleaning, but there was no response.) During my previous visit to Oirase, I stayed at "Hoshino Resorts," which provided a more comfortable experience. I apologize for the critical comments.

Rare and Famous Ryokan
Since staying during a junior high school trip, this is my first visit in half a century. The main building remains beautifully maintained, and the atrium lobby was impressive, but it's a shame that it serves as a "viewing" area and is not actually utilized. I requested a Room in the main building, which was clean and well-kept, but the old charm was lost. Nevertheless, the breathtaking view of Lake Towada from the window never gets old. The large public bath also offers a wonderful view, and the glass is polished clean, providing a great view from inside. The open-air bath is nice, but a bit cramped, making it difficult for two adults to stretch their legs. At night, nothing is visible (laughs). The meals were decent. The steak and hot pot were delicious, but the flounder lacked flavor. Perhaps more use could be made of local products? The dining hall has a dignified atmosphere, and the view during breakfast is nice. The lobby also has charm, but it's disappointing that there's no morning coffee. The staff's response is generally hotel-like and straightforward. There are various minor issues, but for those who love classic hotels, this is a renowned Ryokan that should be your first choice.

I stayed with my mot...
I stayed with my mother-in-law and my real mother to celebrate her 88th birthday. We headed to the hotel through a tunnel of autumn leaves by shuttle bus from Towada Lake Yasumiya. After circling about half of Lake Towada and climbing the hill, the beautiful exterior of Towada Hotel comes into view. We were pleasantly surprised with an upgrade to our room at check-in, allowing us to stay in a spacious room. After enjoying complimentary burdock tea (which was so delicious that I bought some at the souvenir shop) and coffee in the lounge, we took photos at a spot recommended by the front desk staff. As expected from a hotel designated as a registered tangible cultural property, the library is also wonderful, and the beautiful architecture makes for stunning photos. The hot pot with kiritanpo dumplings we had for dinner was a first for my mother-in-law from Kyushu, and she said it was very delicious. The view from the room was truly spectacular, allowing us to fully enjoy both the sunset and sunrise over Lake Towada! I became a fan of lakeside stays.

The craftsmanship of the temple carpenters is magnificent.
I stayed at the classical Hotel Towada, a registered tangible cultural property, with the purpose of staying there. I thought it was facing Lake Towada, but it was located on a slightly elevated hill, and this location was quiet and very pleasant. From the Japanese-style room, I could see the trees and Lake Towada, and the bath was open and comfortable. There was a mark (a moon) for each room in addition to the room number on the entrance side of the room, which I found easy to understand. The meals used ingredients from Akita, allowing me to enjoy a leisurely time. It is a calm and nice hotel.
