This was my first stay in Oku-Biwako. I was looking for a relaxing getaway close to Osaka and found this inn. The scenery of Oku-Biwako, which I was seeing for the first time, was truly soothing. Every dish was delicious, and I also enjoyed the beautiful tableware. I asked in advance whether ayu (sweetfish) would be included in the meal and was told it wouldn’t be available, but on the day they kindly changed part of the menu to grilled salted ayu, so I was able to enjoy it during my stay. The large public bath had clean face towels provided, so there was no need to worry about towels. From parking guidance to the dining staff, everyone worked efficiently and left a great impression. I’d love to visit again in another season to enjoy more great food.

I stayed here while doing the Biwaichi route, but it was such a wonderful inn that next time I’d like to visit with the specific purpose of staying here and enjoying the cuisine. The room was clean and spacious. The tatami in the living area felt great on my legs after a long ride, and it was easy to stretch out and relax. You can also watch the sunset from the bath; it isn’t a hot spring, but the jet bath was so comfortable that I was completely satisfied. Even small details—like the bathroom floor being gentle on your feet—made everything feel thoughtfully designed. The Simmons bed was very comfortable as well, and I slept soundly. Above all, though, what deserves special mention is the food. The course meal centered around lake fish caught that day was outstanding—each dish truly delicious and full of surprises. I had assumed freshwater fish might have a distinctive “fishy” taste, but I was genuinely impressed by how beautifully the natural flavors were brought out. Every dish reflected careful preparation and skillful cooking. While you can enjoy traditional dishes throughout, an unexpected dessert appears at the end: vanilla ice cream made with rice used for funazushi! At first I couldn’t imagine what it would taste like, but it turned out to be astonishingly good—an unforgettable specialty you can only experience here. Just one note: our room this time was on the second floor, so access was via stairs. If stairs are a concern for you, I recommend checking with them before booking. They also offer private rental accommodations (entire buildings), but since I didn’t see those rooms myself, I can’t comment on steps or layout inside. A comfortable room and cuisine that truly feels unique to this place turned one night along our journey into a cherished memory. I would love to return.

The timing for clearing the dishes was very poor. Although I had informed you of my buckwheat allergy, it was very disappointing that you still tried to serve buckwheat. The food was very delicious and excellent. Thank you very much.
