The meals were luxurious and delicious, the Room was spotless, and the bath was wonderfully relaxing—there was nothing to complain about. The staff member in charge was very friendly and kind, so we felt completely at ease throughout our two-day stay. The massage was excellent as well; even though the weather wasn’t great, it didn’t bother us at all, and it turned into a truly satisfying trip. Thank you very much. We would love to visit again.

We were highly satisfied with everything—the Room, the Onsen, the atmosphere throughout the building, the service, and the meals. Since there were three of us this time, we booked a quadruple Room. Usually the third person ends up on an extra bed, but here it was a proper spacious bed, so we could truly relax. The entire building is covered with tatami mats, so you can walk anywhere barefoot or in socks and feel relaxed as if you were at home. It was also fun being able to choose a colored yukata. In addition, several types of pillows were placed in the hallway on each floor along with pillowcases so guests could choose—this really felt like exceptional hospitality. The process of taking the slope car to reach the Accommodation was enjoyable as well, and everything about how we were guided was smooth—we really felt how good the service was. The meals were delicious and thoughtfully prepared, making them visually enjoyable too. We also had a dedicated staff member who carefully explained that no allergens were included and provided detailed guidance about each dish—their attentiveness was outstanding. It was truly a wonderful stay.

We drove from Chiba. As an older couple, we chose this Onsen Accommodation so we could leave at a relaxed pace and truly unwind. It was a wonderful place that exceeded our expectations. The detached Room, the bath, and the meals were all outstanding. The meal included an impressive number of dishes, but each portion was thoughtfully sized, so even we were able to finish everything. The next day, we enjoyed the gentle Onsen three times and headed home unhurriedly. This is now on our list of places we definitely want to visit again.

It was a truly wonderful Accommodation where we could stay comfortable throughout our visit. Everything was impeccably clean, and from the moment we stepped into the Room, we felt at ease. The meals we had been looking forward to were outstanding in both presentation and taste for both dinner and breakfast, and we enjoyed them very much. The baths were also a highlight—not only the open-air private hot spring bath with its wonderful sense of openness, but also the cypress bath in the Room, where we could stretch out to our heart’s content while surrounded by the soothing scent of wood. Everything about our stay was excellent and became a great memory. We would definitely like to stay again. One last question: the towels smelled so lovely and were very relaxing! If you don’t mind, would it be possible to tell us which fabric softener you use?

As my parents have gotten older and we don’t know how many more trips we’ll be able to take together, I invited my brother and brought my daughter for a family trip. Because my mother has rheumatoid arthritis, we chose this Accommodation on the conditions that the Room had an open-air bath and that all five of us could stay in the same Room. It turned out to be far better than we imagined. We arrived late for check-in, but we were warmly welcomed and given a courteous explanation. Women can choose their preferred yukata pattern to wear inside the Accommodation. The lobby offered complimentary drinks including alcohol; I had a drink for the first time in 10 years, and it was delicious. There were also three kinds of cookies, all of which we enjoyed. Many of the staff were young, and everyone provided very polite service. Because the Accommodation is small and intimate, we rarely ran into other guests, which allowed us to relax completely. Every meal was excellent. Thank you as well for accommodating my child’s allergies. For breakfast, they served a Western-style option for children, so there were many items my child could eat, which made us very happy. Both the Room and the open-air bath seemed new and were spotless—there is nothing to complain about—but above all else, the view is outstanding. The river flows right in front of you, and you can enjoy it almost privately not only from the lobby but also from your Room. We were truly moved by it. We heard that peak autumn foliage is around early November, so next time I would like to make a Reservation around then if possible. If I may make one request: I would appreciate it if cleansing oil could be provided in the Room. When I asked at reception they kindly brought it right away so it wasn’t an issue in practice; however, some guests may use only the in-room open-air bath without going elsewhere, so I hope you will consider it. Lastly, thank you very much for helping us create such wonderful memories on this trip.

We stayed here as a couple.\n\nWe had been interested in this Accommodation for some time, and after actually staying, it exceeded our expectations. Above all, the milky-white free-flowing Onsen from the source was outstanding, and soaking at a leisurely pace felt truly luxurious. We also enjoyed the private open-air bath together without any worries, which became a wonderful memory.\n\nBoth dinner and breakfast featured carefully prepared dishes that made the most of local ingredients, and we were completely satisfied with both the taste and portion sizes. Everything at both meals was delicious, and we were impressed to enjoy freshly made dishes served piping hot.\n\nThe staff’s hospitality was warm, with thoughtful attention to detail throughout our stay, making it very comfortable. This was my first time staying here. Many of the staff are young and from overseas, but their Japanese is excellent, and I was amazed by how exceptionally polite and attentive their service was. Above all, you can really feel how hard they work. I had a very pleasant stay. In particular, the young woman who explained the meals and the man at the front desk during check-in—both were foreign nationals—and they were simply outstanding. The Ryokan itself has a wonderful traditional atmosphere, and I was very satisfied. We stayed to celebrate my mother’s 80th birthday, and she was delighted as well! Next time, I’d like to bring my daughter.

It was excellent. The meals were delicious. The Onsen was free-flowing from the source, and the water temperature was just right.

Since the full renovation, every facility has been spotless. I was satisfied with everything, but I was especially surprised at how spacious all four private baths were—and they were impeccably clean. The water was excellent, with no unpleasant chlorine smell overpowering the sulfur scent. The Nordic-style sauna was also very relaxing. The meals were delicious and just the right amount. This is a Ryokan I would definitely like to visit again.

We visited as three generations. The Facility, baths, and meals were all very satisfying, and it became a wonderful memory. Thank you to the staff member who took a photo for us as we were leaving on a busy morning. We look forward to enjoying the many autumn maple leaves. We will visit again.

There were lots of adorable cats, and they played with us using toys! When we left the Room door slightly open, they came in, which was incredibly soothing. We also had a child with us, and they happily played with the toys, so we’re really glad we came. Even our daughter, who usually spends her time playing games, didn’t play even once—it turned into a fulfilling day and we were very satisfied! She said she wants to come again, so we’ll check our schedule and plan to visit again.

We stayed on August 1–2, 2026! The Room (depending on the Plan, I assume) felt like it could have been a bit deeper and wider, but it matched the photos online. This was our first stay at Taoya as a family of four, including a second-year university student and a second-year high school student. We loved the all-inclusive free drinks (including alcohol) throughout our stay, plus the welcome dessert (the mini Mont Blanc was freshly piped on the spot). At dinner buffet, there were shake salads, freshly grilled and carved steak, and each table had a small burner for mini hot pots. There were also pasta and pizza, and even late-night snacks included in the Plan—everything was excellent in both taste and portion size. Breakfast was also buffet-style with build-your-own rice bowls, grilled fish using the tabletop burner, and freshly baked mini apple pies brought around to each table (they’re seriously piping hot, so be careful when eating). Our whole family was very satisfied. At dinner one night while we were taking a selfie with an outstretched arm, a staff member kindly offered to take our photo—an extra touch that made us even happier. The location was great too: easy access to Momiji-dani Suspension Bridge and the Nasu Highlands area, and Nikko is just over an hour away by expressway. Since it’s in the mountains we were worried about insects, but they didn’t bother us at all—we didn’t even encounter any during an evening walk (to the nearest suspension bridge), at the open-air bath on the 4th floor, or in our Room. The only insect we really noticed was dragonflies flying around the courtyard; little kids seemed to enjoy having them land on their fingers. Personally, I especially liked the courtyard bonfire! Thank you very much—we’d love to come again if we have another chance. (*Menus and types of insects may vary depending on season and timing.)

We drove from the Kansai area. After getting off the expressway, we went through several tunnels and felt excited, wondering what it would be like along the way—but when we arrived, we were first surprised by the beautiful entrance. Once inside, we fully enjoyed the all-inclusive offerings and were truly grateful for the staff’s kind hospitality. We made wonderful memories during Silver Week.

The riverside open-air bath was closed, but we used the outdoor Onsen reached by going down 300 steps. The staircase is so narrow that only one person can pass at a time. We were told it’s open until 11:00 p.m., but we were worried about our footing at night, so we went in the evening and again in the morning. While soaking, we enjoyed the river’s flow and the mountains, listening to the sound of the water. The stairs were tough, but I truly felt glad we came. The semi-open-air bath down about 20 steps was also wonderful, with a clear view of the mountains right in front of you. The temperature was perfect for me. I didn’t expect much from the indoor bath, but it had large windows and felt very pleasant; there was a jacuzzi, a reclining bath, and a hotter pool where we could relax comfortably. Everyone at the Accommodation was very kind and welcoming. Dinner came in many small dishes. The beef and the meatballs in the hot pot were delicious. Even simple items like the beef sauce, hot-pot broth, and pickles were all excellent. The portions were just right for us as a couple. I think you need to be fairly fit to visit an outdoor Onsen that requires going down 300 steps—but I’m really glad we did. This isn’t about the Accommodation itself, but both the bus driver from Nasushiobara Station and the person at Shiobara Onsen Terminal who explained a map of Shiobara Onsen were incredibly friendly, which made our memories of this trip even better. I made a Reservation because I was drawn to the title of this Accommodation, and it was absolutely the right choice! This is a simple, historic Accommodation, yet it feels spotless throughout. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warm smiles from the staff, and we were very satisfied with the quality of the Onsen water. The “Taste of Local Bounty” dining menu was especially memorable—above all, being able to bite into a whole river fish from head to tail was an experience you won’t find elsewhere.

This was my first stay. The atmosphere was warm and homey, and all the staff welcomed us with bright smiles. The Facility is a bit old, but it is well maintained and spotlessly clean. The meals featured locally sourced ingredients, were beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. The Onsen warmed me through to the core and left my skin glowing. I soaked in it many times. I felt refreshed for the first time in a while. I’m happy to have found an Accommodation I’d love to stay at again. Thank you very much.

I have stayed at TAOYA several times over the past few years. This was my first time at Kawaji Onsen, and although it was only for one night, I had a wonderful stay—the atmosphere was quiet and the meals were delicious. Some of the staff were from overseas, but everyone was very kind and provided pleasant service. It has become one of the Accommodations I would definitely like to visit again, and I will recommend it to friends. (Just one thing: there is a large stone on the bottom of the open-air bath, and at night it’s hard to see where it is, so I felt it could be a bit dangerous. For that reason, I deducted one star.)

Now that our family schedules finally lined up, we stayed at Yunishikawa Honkan again. The open-air bath is the perfect temperature for us, and this wonderful natural hot spring keeps our bodies warm until the next morning when we soak slowly and relax. We also always look forward to the Japanese meals, which are consistently delicious. The many dishes and the local sake tasting are excellent as well. The Onsen egg served with breakfast is outstanding, and this time too we ordered two packs to take home as a souvenir. For us as a parent and child who enjoy mountain stream fishing, this Accommodation is an important place to unwind, so even when it’s not for fishing we’d like to make time to visit again and enjoy the wonderful Onsen. This time we stayed in the Room at the very end of the 5th floor, and it was very comfortable with a toilet and air conditioning. We also enjoy hearing the owner’s stories every time—about hunting bears long ago, catching giant char, and gathering large maitake mushrooms. We are truly grateful to the proprietress emeritus, the proprietress, and all staff for their hospitality. We hope to visit again soon. Thank you in advance when we do.

The building isn’t very new. Some areas of the floor feel a bit soft, so please watch your step. I ended up checking in late and called to let them know my expected arrival time, and they kindly waited in front of the Ryokan to welcome me. The dining staff were also courteous, and the food was delicious. The Onsen operates on a rotating schedule, but it’s open 24 hours, so you can enjoy it multiple times. The hallways are quite winding, so it’s easy to lose your sense of direction. The rates are reasonable as well, so I’d like to stay again next time—hopefully without being late—and relax at a slower pace.
