I visited this auberge for the first time on a two-person trip with my daughter—I'm a serious Onsen lover, and she’s happy to come along as long as there’s great food. We were excited from the start. Since we’re the “stay-in and relax” type who don’t need sightseeing, this was the best Accommodation that met all my requirements, including an all-inclusive plan. The Room options by type matched our request perfectly, and I felt soothed in a space with a style I love. The food was, of course, outstanding—everything tasted new to me, and I was truly impressed! It exceeded my expectations so much that I was far too full to enjoy much of the after-dinner drinks in the lounge or the snacks and sweets, and I didn’t even make it to the cup noodles. I was also amazed by how many kinds of complimentary drinks were available, and there was plenty of beer and water stocked in the Room refrigerator as well. The amenities felt very luxurious. They were such good quality that there’s no need to bring your own. Because it was just us at breakfast, we were able to chat with one of the female staff members (I wish I had asked her name) and enjoy a wonderful time right up until close to checkout. They even had bread from my favorite bakery prepared for us—I was so happy. It’s a shame I can’t write about the Onsen experience, but instead we were able to enjoy another Onsen nearby, which I’ll take as good luck—and it also gave us a reason (and a promise) to come back for sure. I also feel sorry that you showed us such considerate care—it almost felt like too much. I’m grateful to have found an Accommodation in Yunogo that we’ll definitely return to. I recommend it for important anniversaries, and it has also become a special place as a reward for myself. Two wonderful staff members and an incredibly talented chef. I truly hope this place will be here for many years to come. Thank you so much!

We had a wonderful, relaxing time with our dog. The Room was clean and comfortable, and we loved being able to enjoy the private Onsen whenever we wanted. The staff were kind and helpful, so we felt at ease throughout our stay. Our whole family was able to unwind with our dog, making it a truly enjoyable experience. It also became a great summer vacation memory for our children, and we would love to stay again. Thank you for such a lovely time.

We stayed for one night and two days. The room was compact but very clean, with well-equipped amenities. The bedding was crisp, and the yukata provided in the room was made of sturdy fabric, allowing us to wear it outside comfortably. Each person received two sets of bath towels, along with a bathrobe and pajamas, so we had everything we needed. Since our room included a private open-air onsen, we could enjoy a relaxing soak anytime we wanted. As this accommodation is exclusively for no meals included stays, we were initially concerned about meals; however, its convenient location allowed us to dine out without reservations both in the morning and evening. Even during Obon season, staying here cost only 30,000 yen per person per night—affordable and made for an enjoyable trip!

A room with extraordinary spaciousness, high ceilings, and a private atmosphere as it is detached. The staff's hospitality was excellent, making it a facility I would recommend even to my most critical friends.

Dinner was enjoyed at the neighboring Hanamusubi, and we also used their baths in the evening, including both Kin-no-Yu and Gin-no-Yu. It was delightful to experience both types of hot springs in a single visit. Since it was just a short walk from Kotori, moving to Hanamusubi's main building was not inconvenient at all. The food was very delicious. Breakfast was served at Kotori, and we also used the private bath there. Despite the rain, we had a relaxing time until departure without any inconvenience. The tofu hot pot for breakfast was excellent. We would love to visit again!

The Asama Onsen district spreads across the eastern part of Matsumoto City, climbing up the foothill slope. The Accommodation is built on the hillside, and the road in front of the entrance is only one lane wide. After leaving your luggage at the Accommodation, you move to the parking area via a narrow alley-like passage about 2 meters wide. If you have a larger car, it seems better to enter from another wider road, park there first, and then carry your luggage. This is an old Accommodation; the furniture and fittings are also old but of good quality, carefully maintained, and immaculately cleaned. The hospitality feels heartfelt; while some younger staff may seem a little awkward, they are poised and dignified. You can sense the refined quality of a prestigious Accommodation. The Room—created by combining two rooms into one—has well-chosen furniture and furnishings. It is calming and comfortable. In the in-room bath, hot natural spring water flows directly from the source; unless you truly love very hot baths, you will want to add cold water to adjust it. For smaller guests, it is deep enough to soak up to your shoulders and long enough to stretch out your legs. Opening the large window facing the garden lets in wonderfully refreshing air. The large public bath and private bath are spacious with a comfortable temperature. The lockers are solid as well. A table adapted from a lacquered low dining table is paired with chairs that are easy to sit on. The dishes brought to your Room one after another at just the right timing are genuine gourmet cuisine—anticipation and satisfaction continue throughout. Allergy accommodations and requests regarding disliked ingredients were handled perfectly. Interestingly—and elegantly—the menu does not list the head chef’s name. There is a separate bedroom with very comfortable beds. It is quiet.

My daughter stayed with two friends she hadn't seen in a long time. They said the private bath was excellent. The breakfast was also very luxurious and delicious. The owner was very kind and recommended great restaurants for dinner since they hadn’t included it in their stay, making their experience even more enjoyable. They were extremely happy with their time here.

It was an accommodation beyond expectations. A luxurious space with the exclusivity of one group per day and a whole building rental, featuring a spacious room enhanced by exposed beam ceilings, and surrounded by Japanese-modern furniture, lighting, and decor. Both dinner and breakfast were not only delicious in taste but also visually stunning. We enjoyed these refined dishes on a solid single-slab wooden table. I wonder how many times I said "delicious" or "beautiful." The conversation with the owner-chef, who has a unique background, was incredibly interesting and enjoyable. Yunotsuru Onsen won first place again this year in the Hidden Hot Springs & Famous Hot Springs category for the Kyushu-Okinawa area at the Onsen General Election 2025. The hot spring water at Tsurunoya felt like a silky beauty serum that women would love. Moreover, it is luxuriously offered as free-flowing natural hot spring water in a cypress bathtub for you to enjoy. Additionally, guests can also bathe for free at nearby partnered accommodations' onsens—a delightful perk for onsen enthusiasts. Without TVs or clocks to distract you from daily life’s hustle and bustle, this stay offered an extraordinary escape into tranquility—making it an incredibly luxurious two-day-one-night experience in every sense. I hope to visit again soon!

I’d long wanted to visit Bessho Onsen. It had great Reviews on Google Maps, and when I searched IKYU.com for “solo travel” and “Western-style room,” I chose Midoriya—Done! I was a little concerned about the cutting-edge, tech-driven operation, but that worry was unfounded: the smartphone-based process was very smooth. It also made me feel this is something I should get used to—and that it may well become a new standard. This time I booked a breakfast-only Plan for a Multiple Night Stay, and during my stay I used three private Onsen baths a total of six times. What I loved was being able to experience different types of water depending on the bath and the day—clear, slightly greenish, milky white, or with soft yunohana drifting in the water. Each bath has both an indoor bath and an open-air bath, and I thoroughly enjoyed historic Bessho Onsen with its skin-beautifying qualities, gentle feel, and subtle sulfur scent. During my stay, I saw all kinds of guests—a mom with her baby along with her own mother, a young European couple, and solo female international travelers—and it was clear everyone was enjoying their time in their own way.

We stayed in the detached Accommodation. When we called in advance to confirm, we were told it would be possible to add one more set of futons in addition to the 7 people on our online Reservation, so we stayed with 8 guests. Even with 8 people, it was spacious enough, and we had a very comfortable stay. There were notes indicating areas that still use items from the former Ito Ryokan, and there were small decorative touches on the walls like kumiko-style woodwork—overall, the interior was more stylish and beautiful than we expected. It’s only a short walk to the main building, but there is also a Shuttle Service, which we really appreciated. The meals were delicious, and drink orders and other requests were handled promptly and efficiently, which left a great impression. The large public bath and open-air bath in the main building were both wonderful on both the first and second floors—each had its own charm—and we enjoyed using both at night and again in the morning. After letting them know in advance that we would be traveling with an infant, they prepared a diaper trash bin and baby soap in our Room. Our three-generation family had a truly pleasant stay. Thank you very much.

The renovated traditional building offers a modern Japanese-style Ryokan with friendly and helpful staff. The Onsen is available as a private bath, and you can use it anytime if it's vacant. There are three baths, each supposedly at different temperatures, but they all seemed to be the same temperature and quite hot. The much-talked-about breakfast was also delicious.

Finding a Hotel when traveling with a dog can be quite difficult, but Shikisou was very dog-friendly and comfortable to stay at. We booked two Rooms, and it was very easy to go back and forth between them, which made our stay even better. We were surprised by how much food was served—more than we expected. Everything was delicious. As for the bath, which we were also looking forward to, it was taken over by day-use visitors, and we were met with some complaints. We went to bathe around 9:00 p.m., and I assume they were locals. Even though we wanted to relax in the Onsen after a long trip, it felt uncomfortable, so we ended up leaving early. That is the only reason for the lower rating.

The owner was extremely kind, and it was a wonderful Accommodation.

The owner was very kind and took great care of me. I visited solo on a motorcycle, and they even prepared a garage for me, so I could park safely with peace of mind. The interior is a typical traditional guesthouse, but it is well maintained and feels very comfortable. And the meals were truly delicious, full of local ingredients—especially the tempura made with Japanese pepper leaves (sansho). It was my first time trying it, and it was amazing! I was completely satisfied with both dinner and breakfast. As for bathing, there are many public baths nearby, which is very convenient. They also kindly lent me shampoo and soap—too kind! I was so satisfied that the value for money almost made me worry. Highly recommended!

This was our fourth stay. Ever since our first visit, we’ve been impressed by the delicious meals, the relaxing Onsen, and the wonderful hospitality of the proprietress and all the staff—an Accommodation that always makes us want to return. It also has a charming, nostalgic atmosphere, and the Room was spotless and beautifully maintained—nothing to complain about. We’re planning to visit again next year, and we’re already looking forward to it.

I made a Reservation for a meal course that included a boat-style sashimi platter. When I mentioned at check-in that I planned to try every bath, the front desk staff advised me not to overdo it because I might feel unwell from soaking too much. They were right—I’m glad I didn’t try them all. There were that many baths. For this price, the combination of the meal and the baths was excellent.

On a Multiple Night Stay with my elderly mother, the staff were very considerate in many ways, and we were able to spend our time comfortably. The meals were delicious, but for my elderly mother and me (over 60), the portions were too large to finish. We didn’t need lunch; snacks were enough. The Onsen water was great, and we could relax in the scenic-view bath, the family bath, and the steam bath. However, the bathtub in our Room was too deep, which felt a bit dangerous, so unfortunately my mother couldn’t use it. Since there is no elevator, I think guests with mobility issues should check in advance. The sunrise and morning glow from our Room and from the scenic-view bath—as well as the night view—were very beautiful scenery that we could have watched forever.

During this Go To Travel campaign, I stayed at about 13 properties, and the meals here were the best—just as you’d expect from a kaiseki Ryokan. Everyone should visit at least once.

I stayed for a Multiple Night Stay of two nights with breakfast included. Sometimes you get the same meals when staying multiple nights, but I was happy that the menu changed. There were many dishes and the portions were satisfying. The tableware was also lovely. The Ryokan has been renovated and both the exterior and interior are very clean. However, because the structure is an older wooden building, outside noise carries easily. More than voices, you can hear footsteps quite clearly. I stayed in a Room on the 2nd floor, and on the first night I could hear footsteps from upstairs until around 1:00 a.m., which was stressful. If you are sensitive to noise, it may be better to request a Room on the 3rd floor. When it rained, umbrellas and rain shoes were prepared at the entrance, so my feet didn’t get wet. Many people were walking outside in geta in the rain, but I was impressed by the rain-shoe service. The coffee, black tea, tea, and electrolyzed water service was also great. It felt like there were many younger staff members, but everyone was pleasant and helpful—and their English was fluent as well. It was a wonderful Ryokan where you can really feel attention to detail in everything from tableware and interior design to furniture and services. I would definitely like to stay again.

We stayed here with three households of our children to celebrate a 60th birthday. Dinner was served in a private dining room, and we were allowed to decorate it, so our family had a wonderful time together. They even lent us a red celebratory vest and prepared a festive ball for the occasion, which made the celebration truly exciting. They also took photos for us, and on departure they gave us not just one print but enough for each household—such thoughtful service in every way. The meals, the Onsen, and the service were all outstanding, making it a truly unforgettable memory. Thank you very much. We are very glad we chose this Accommodation.
