LONGINGHOUSE Old Karuizawa・Suwanomori

I stayed here in early June. Tucked away behind Karuizawa Suwa Shrine, the lush and quiet surroundings were truly soothing for both body and mind. The friendly staff and the warm welcome from the large bear in the lobby made me smile, and the clean, spacious Room was comfortable and relaxing, with thoughtful attention to detail including amenities. Breakfast featured delicious vegetables, with a choice of mains that felt nourishing and wholesome. I enjoyed it so much that next time I’d love to try dinner as well.

We stayed multiple nights in a Kitchen Suite.Just a few minutes’ walk to Kyu-Karuizawa Ginza. Perhaps because Suwa Shrine is right next door, it’s quiet, and when you open the window, the only sound is pleasant birdsong.The staff keep a comfortable distance—not too close, not too far—and you don’t need to leave your Room key when going out, so you can relax as if you were at home. The private family bath is also a must!Since we chose a Plan with no breakfast or dinner, the price was relatively reasonable. With a kitchen included, we enjoyed shopping at the supermarket and making full use of the oven and microwave.We stay here 4–5 times a year, and thanks to the location, pricing, and overall comfort, this Hotel has become an essential base for sightseeing, shopping, and leisure—one we’ll continue to rely on every year.
