The three of us—my 86-year-old father, my brother, and I—stayed here. When I mentioned during the Reservation that my father is elderly, they kindly upgraded us on the day to a Room with a private indoor Onsen bath fed directly from the source. My father was delighted and said he could truly relax and enjoy the Onsen. Everyone at the Ryokan, starting with the proprietress, was very kind. Their service was warm yet respectfully unobtrusive, which we really appreciated. Our Room was a traditional-style Japanese-Western suite inspired by an old farmhouse; it was spacious and luxurious, and we couldn’t help but admire the impressive beams. We were shown to a private dining room for our meal, which we had been looking forward to. The dishes were served at our pace, allowing us to savor delicious food and drinks in complete comfort. It was a wonderful Accommodation that made us want to return again after quite some time away. Thank you so much to the proprietress and all staff for your exceptional hospitality!

We stayed in Room 401 with an open-air bath. The deep, expansive views, delicious food, and Onsen were all wonderful, but above all, we were most impressed by the warmth and kindness of the staff. Even among Accommodations in the same price range, many do not see guests off, so we truly appreciated it. It made us want to come back even more. Thank you very much.

All of the staff were very pleasant. There was also a complimentary drinks area, which we enjoyed. The meals were especially delicious, and each dish was thoughtfully prepared with great attention to detail. The service staff’s explanations and hospitality were professional and excellent.

I found this Accommodation while looking for a place where I could truly relax on my own. After completing my Kannon pilgrimage, I visited Kitamuki Kannon and Zenkoji to pay my respects. After reading the Reviews, I wanted a proper dinner, so I skipped lunch and held out until 6:00 p.m.—and it was worth it (laugh). Dinner was served in my Room, so I could enjoy it slowly without worrying about others. Breakfast was served in a separate venue, but they had seating for solo guests as well, which was very considerate—and everything was delicious. At night, the Onsen boiler broke and the shower stopped producing hot water. However, they contacted me to say that because it is free-flowing from the source, bathing was still possible. They also gave me a free pass to an outside bath, so I unexpectedly got to enjoy that too—actually a lucky bonus. The Facility feels old, but it has been renovated. It’s like a maze, but that was part of the fun. Their thoughtful touches were wonderful—water after bathing, miso soup service, and welcome drinks. Depending on the Room type, staff may bring meals or lay out your futon bedding for you. If you prefer hotel-style privacy with minimal interaction, this may not be the best fit. The futon is thin as well, so if you’re used to beds your back might hurt. The other guests were pleasant too; people naturally greeted each other and chatted. At the outside bath, locals even offered me their spot and told me to take my time—I felt reminded of Japan in its good old days. The hospitality was comfortable and nostalgic—like staying at a Ryokan on family trips when I was a child—so for those of us from the Showa generation it felt especially heartwarming. I also appreciated both the joy of solo travel and how good Bessho Onsen’s water quality is. If I have another chance, I’d love to visit again.

This time I visited with a friend. I have stayed here before with my family, and bringing my friend this time made me very happy. My friend is not comfortable with large public baths, so having a bath in the Room was a big plus. They also enjoyed the meals, and we truly had a wonderful, relaxing stay. We will definitely come again.

I stayed one night in the Main Building 8-tatami + 6-tatami Room. The charming covered corridor and the surrounding gardens were wonderful. I imagine it offers a different atmosphere with each season. Various hanging lanterns are lit along the corridor, making it even more atmospheric in the morning and evening. The lighting in the lobby, library, and Room was also enjoyable in its own way. Each of the three large public baths had a distinct character—the marble bath with stained glass, and the open-air bath with greenery all around. One downside is that, due to the Onsen minerals, the floors can be slippery. As this is an Onsen Ryokan, it was relaxing to spend time inside wearing yukata. All staff were kind and had lovely smiles. It was also fun to see that outfits differed depending on who assisted us—and sometimes even between morning and evening for the same person. Because of the building layout—Rooms connected like separate annexes via covered corridors—some areas inevitably feel almost outdoors. If you dislike insects or mosquitoes, you may want to take precautions. The meals were not overly elaborate, but seafood and other dishes were prepared deliciously, and I was satisfied with the carefully selected tableware as well. For the price, this Accommodation offers a truly luxurious escape from everyday life—I highly recommend it.

To be honest, I stayed without high expectations, but overall it was a very pleasant stay. The Room was spacious and clean, and the meals were delicious. The service was attentive. Relaxing in the Onsen helped me unwind and recover from daily fatigue. I would like to stay again if I have the opportunity. Thank you very much.

This was my first time using this accommodation. The facility is small, and the building is old, so the equipment is average, but I think it is well-maintained. The sense of security during the stay and the breakfast service met my expectations and were satisfying. If I had to point out something, it would be that the bathroom operates on a gender-swapping schedule, limiting usage times, and there is only one elevator, which can lead to waiting during busy hours. That said, there are restaurants and supermarkets within walking distance, making it a very convenient location.

It’s a small, quiet Onsen town with very little to walk around and see. The Ryokan is quite old and it’s hard to call it spotless, but it’s a great place to relax in a laid-back rural setting. Each dish is carefully prepared, beautifully presented, and truly delicious—wonderful meals overall. The bath water also has its own distinctive character; I liked it as an Onsen. In summer they keep it at a lukewarm temperature, so you can soak for a long time. The owner and staff were friendly and genuinely kind.

I had such a wonderful stay before, and since it sounded like more Rooms would be added soon, I made a last-minute Reservation before that happened. What was different this time is that an admission ticket to Hotelli Salo was included. It seems their baths may be members-only? I thought I might try it if it was included, but it turns out it’s not included with every Plan and is offered as an optional add-on. Since I can’t use the sauna, I’m completely satisfied with the Onsen at the Accommodation! Bath time can be reserved in one-hour slots until the next day; on the following day it’s separated by gender, and because there aren’t many Rooms on weekdays, you can relax and enjoy it quietly. The water is an artificial Onsen, but it has a lovely atmosphere—if you’re staying in Ueda, this is the place. I was happy to have the same Room as last time, and since it was just before summer, the terrace felt wonderful. You can see updates throughout the service, and you really feel how much they care about guests. They took care of me so pleasantly until the very end—this is an Accommodation I truly love and appreciate. After the expansion, it sounds like they will specialize in No Meals Included stays, but there are plenty of places to eat and shops nearby.

This was my first stay. It was very convenient, just a 1-minute walk from the station. The views were great, including the Shinkansen, the Bessho Line, and the mountains.

I always look forward to visiting, soothed by the Onsen waters of Bessho and the nature of Shioda-daira. This time as well, I enjoyed a relaxing stay with wonderful meals, baths, and the warm atmosphere of Nanjo Ryokan. Every dish reflected the best of the local area and was truly delicious. The building feels like time has stood still since the Showa era, which is very calming. I imagine it must be challenging to maintain such a historic Accommodation, but I think replacing the tatami mats in the Room would make it even more comfortable. I hope this Accommodation continues for many years to come. I will visit again!

This time, it was her birthday on the day of our stay, and the hotel kindly prepared a small mini cake plate for us, which was wonderful. Thank you very much. I would definitely like to use this accommodation again if I have the chance.

This was our first visit to Kakeyu Onsen. Nestled in the mountains, with the soothing sound of the river and views from the open-air bath, it was the perfect Accommodation for us as a couple celebrating our 60th birthday. Just be careful not to overeat—the meals are that good! We truly enjoyed every dish; there was a great variety and we were very satisfied. We would love to stay again.

The staff who assisted us at check-in were very pleasant and courteous. The Room was clean and felt spacious, so we were able to relax well. However, the bathroom had a lingering odor, so we kept the door open the whole time.

My wife, son, and I traveled from Nagoya with our dog. We followed the navigation via the Chuo Expressway, got off at Azusagawa IC, and after that there was almost nothing along the local roads—no gas stations—until we finally found one near the Accommodation. After arriving, we presented our dog’s various certificates at reception to check in. The staff were very kind. The first place we were shown was the café lounge: unlimited soft drinks, ice cream, and even alcohol (as much as available?!). There were also 4–5 kinds of dog treats prepared, which felt like a great perk for guests. Next to the café lounge there was also a pet shower room. What surprised me was that other guests also said they couldn’t smell any “pet odor,” and I hadn’t noticed it either—it really didn’t bother us at all. However, the smoking room is located around the center of the 2nd floor, and the cigarette smell inside that room was… quite strong. This time we stayed in a Japanese-style room because no Western-style rooms were available. At reception we were told that if our dog soiled any bedding we would be charged a cleaning fee, so we put our dog in diapers. Thanks to that nothing got dirty—but in an unexpected twist, my son got a nosebleed and stained the sheets. We weren’t charged anything, but I’m very sorry about that. Changing topics: Both dinner and breakfast were buffet style. For dinner we could choose 17:30 or 19:00; for breakfast 7:00 or 8:00. Everything was satisfying overall; alcoholic drinks are available for an additional charge. The bath is an Onsen open from 15:00 to 22:00, and in the morning from 5:00 to 10:00. There is an outdoor dog run with facilities and a washing area, plus towels for wiping paws. There is also an indoor one on the second floor. Stepping outside into such clear air helped me forget about work for a while, and we made wonderful memories with our dog and family. We’d love to come again! On the way back we headed toward Okaya IC on local roads before returning to Nagoya; from this Accommodation to Okaya IC the roads were well paved, and there are places like Suwa Taisha Shrine (Suwa Grand Shrine), Utsukushigahara Highlands (Plateau), roadside stations (Michi-no-Eki), etc., so it’s easy to make stops along the way. The route on our way there wasn’t as convenient—so next time we’ll come via Okaya IC. To Oedo Onsen Wanwan Resort Shinshu Ueda Team: Thank you for giving us such great memories.

This was my first stay, and I booked a Multiple Night Stay for two nights. The toilet is not equipped with a washlet, and the facilities feel old. My Room faced the Ueda Station rotary (on the 6th floor), but voices outside echoed so loudly it felt like the window was open. (As is common in regional cities, young people tend to hang around late at night.) That said, while I have several complaints, the staff are outstanding. Everyone was very pleasant and kind, more than making up for the drawbacks. The Accommodation Fee is also low. The front desk is on the 2nd floor, and there is a good izakaya on B1 as well. Overall, I think it’s a Hotel with excellent value for money.

I’d long wanted to visit Bessho Onsen. It had great Reviews on Google Maps, and when I searched IKYU.com for “solo travel” and “Western-style room,” I chose Midoriya—Done! I was a little concerned about the cutting-edge, tech-driven operation, but that worry was unfounded: the smartphone-based process was very smooth. It also made me feel this is something I should get used to—and that it may well become a new standard. This time I booked a breakfast-only Plan for a Multiple Night Stay, and during my stay I used three private Onsen baths a total of six times. What I loved was being able to experience different types of water depending on the bath and the day—clear, slightly greenish, milky white, or with soft yunohana drifting in the water. Each bath has both an indoor bath and an open-air bath, and I thoroughly enjoyed historic Bessho Onsen with its skin-beautifying qualities, gentle feel, and subtle sulfur scent. During my stay, I saw all kinds of guests—a mom with her baby along with her own mother, a young European couple, and solo female international travelers—and it was clear everyone was enjoying their time in their own way.

We stayed for 2 nights and 3 days during Golden Week with my daughters and our pet rabbit. The sound of the stream from Reisenji River in front of the room and the chirping of small birds created a refreshing atmosphere, allowing us to spend our time peacefully. The meals were delightful, featuring dishes like mountain vegetable tempura, homemade tsukudani, green onion sauce, garlic-flavored grilled chicken skewers, and the specialty rainbow trout somen fry. We enjoyed every dish so much that we emptied the rice container. Each dish was explained to us in detail, and we felt warmth from the hospitality provided by your family. The Onsen was slightly lukewarm, perfect for a relaxing soak that left our bodies warm afterward. The private family bath with free-flowing hot spring water had an abundant supply and was truly enjoyable. Additionally, we could use the public bath right across from the accommodation for free to fully enjoy more Onsen experiences. This trip came right after a busy first month of the new fiscal year for our family; it felt like returning to a relative's countryside home where we could unwind and recharge ourselves completely. With limited accommodations available that allow pets to stay together in-room with meals served there as well, this place is incredibly appreciated! We would love to visit again!

My family visiting from afar stayed at this accommodation. It is a rare and valuable place offering reasonable prices with one room per person. Although we only opted for breakfast, they were impressed by the delicious freshly cooked rice! While compact, the 24-hour flowing onsen and spacious rooms made their stay very comfortable. The presence of an elevator was also greatly appreciated by my elderly mother, who has difficulty with stairs. Thank you very much for your hospitality this time!
