I hadn’t visited Arima Onsen for quite some time since the COVID-19 pandemic, but if I was going to return after so long, I wanted an exceptional place for both cuisine and Onsen—so I decided to splurge on this Accommodation. I had known the name Kinzan for years, but everything was far beyond my expectations, and my mother was absolutely delighted as well. This time we fully enjoyed the live conger eel kaiseki along with the Onsen, and if possible, we’d love to visit again during crab season.

I stayed in a newly renovated Room and enjoyed a brief escape from everyday life, surrounded by the warmth of wood. Choraku is an Accommodation where you can enjoy both the gold and silver hot springs, so if you’re looking for a place to stay in Arima, I would recommend Choraku without hesitation. Flowers were beautifully arranged throughout the building, and their thoughtful hospitality was truly appreciated. The meal served in the Room was delicious, and I especially enjoyed the fun conversation while they explained each dish—I couldn’t stop laughing. The extra-large TV wasn’t working properly, but the front desk staff came right away and fixed it. Shortly after I returned home, I received a thank-you letter from Choraku. I travel often, but I have never stayed anywhere with such attentive service. I also booked through IKYU.com, and there was a surprise roast beef dish at dinner. I would like to take this opportunity to thank IKYU.com as well.

This was my first time visiting Arima Onsen. I booked a good-value Plan with a lighter meal, but there was so much food that I’m sorry I couldn’t finish it all. The Onsen tickets were included, so I could enjoy other Onsens as well—it was wonderful. The Shuttle Service to the bus stop was very helpful. All the staff were very kind, and I was truly impressed. I would love to visit again.

This is my second stay at Hanakoyado. I became a repeat guest because this is where you find the answer to whether high-quality Onsen and gourmet dining can truly be enjoyed at a reasonable price. The traditional wooden building and tiled bath are full of classic Onsen atmosphere. Even more luxuriously, the Kinsen flows continuously, and when you sink into the tub, the overflowing water swirls as it runs off. I also enjoyed a steam bath using the high-temperature source spring. The rice cooked in the okudosan is delicious, and the fish and meat carefully grilled over charcoal with radiant heat are more than satisfying. To top it off, curry rice is served at the end as well. There is an Onsen experience and cuisine here that feel wonderfully untouched by modern times.

This was my third stay. After arriving while it was still light out, I first enjoyed Goshobo’s semi-mixed Onsen and the large public bath with its golden Onsen. Since it was summer, even a short soak left me sweating nonstop. In the large bath, I shared the water with someone for the first time here; we had a pleasant chat and ended up soaking a bit longer. Dinner was a lighter, seafood-focused course. The chilled Awaji spiny lobster soup was a perfect match with Koshu wine. The highlight began with sashimi of meita-garei flounder and aged sea bream, followed by more Akashi-ura fish to enjoy. The charcoal-grilled Spanish mackerel and the Akashi sea bream acqua pazza were both seasonal specials you can only have here at this time of year. The broth in the acqua pazza was much lighter than last autumn’s filefish version. To finish, the cheese course left me fully satisfied in both quality and quantity—thank you for the wonderful meal. For breakfast, I switched back to the standard menu: milk, soup, vegetables—an all-around delicious plate—beautiful French toast, and yogurt meant to savor the jam and honey. Everything tasted exactly as good as expected. Even the mini breads were great; this time, the buttery croissant was my favorite. In my Room bath, I topped up little by little while letting it cool slightly, enjoying a pleasantly lukewarm golden Onsen. The breeze through the window felt wonderful: lush greenery everywhere, distant summer skies, murmuring sounds of life outside—and cicadas loud enough not to lose to them. Summer Onsen really is something special. After breakfast I alternated between the golden Onsen and the low-temperature sauna. It was an extremely satisfying holiday stay. Thank you very much. P.S. Thank you very much for a wonderful stay. The kaiseki dinner, in particular, truly moved me—it was the most delicious I have had in years. Each dish was carefully prepared, and both the flavors and presentation were outstanding. I would highly recommend it to everyone. My sincere thanks to the head chef for preparing such an exceptional meal. The Onsen was also lovely, with a great atmosphere, and I was able to relax and unwind. However, I was a little disappointed that the women’s bathing hours were only from 17:00 to 20:00. I would have been even happier if it had been available for longer. The Room was clean and comfortable, and overall it felt like a calm, private space that I really enjoyed. I would love to visit again. Thank you very much.
