The location is simply outstanding. From anywhere on the property, I could see Mt. Bandai beyond Yairoku Pond, and I was moved again and again. In addition, the service, dinner and breakfast, open-air bath, cleanliness, and the lounge’s ease of use were all excellent and comfortable. I’m glad I chose Urabandai Kogen Hotel for my commemorative trip. The nature that changes with each season must be wonderful as well, so next time I’d love to visit in a different season. The Onsen water was excellent, and the meals were more than satisfying. Although this is a long-established Ryokan, it doesn’t feel overly formal, and the check-in guidance was efficient and pleasant. With a good balance between service, Facility quality, and price, I think this Accommodation can satisfy most types of guests. There are three main bathing areas, each offering different spring qualities with free-flowing hot spring water. I especially liked the bath called “Saru-no-Yu.” It’s a large Ryokan, but the Onsen is so good that even hot-spring enthusiasts should be satisfied. The dining area is also very spacious; we were told all 96 rooms were fully booked on our stay, but at the times we went for dinner and breakfast it felt relaxed, with only about half of the tables in use. There is also a wide selection of alcoholic drinks, so guests who enjoy alcohol should have plenty to choose from.

The Room also has a private Onsen bath, and there are four private baths as well—an impressive level of facilities for a pension. The meals offered many dishes, were beautifully colorful, and were very satisfying. We felt thoughtful attention to detail throughout. This is an Accommodation we’d like to return to. We requested an after-bath beer at check-in; we probably should have put it in the refrigerator. It would have been nice to have local craft beer, and we only realized later that we could exchange the in-house wear size, so we rated it 4—but overall it’s basically all 5s. We could also see Lake Inawashiro from the Room.

We stayed with my parents and husband—four adults in total. There was a complimentary alcohol service available until 10:00 p.m. (there was even beer in the Room refrigerator!), and the all-inclusive drinks with meals included a great selection of alcohol. We could even enjoy sparkling wine at breakfast—perfect for my father and me, as we both love drinks. Every summer, we stay one night at an Accommodation in Fukushima to coincide with my mother’s visit home, and my father really loved this place, saying, “Let’s stay here again next time—let’s make it our regular.” From the bath to the lobby to the Room, everything about the interior design and use of space was wonderful no matter where you looked. The staff were also warm and welcoming while still polished and professional. It was our first trip gifting my parents a stay, so it became a truly memorable experience for us. Thank you very much.

I have been staying here about twice a year for the past few years, and every time it has been completely satisfying. Dinner is French cuisine, and everything—from the meat and fish to the dessert—was delicious. The freshly baked bread was truly excellent, and I had seconds. There is also reasonably priced wine, so I had a very pleasant stay. Breakfast was delicious as well. The Room was luxurious and lovely; however, it was a bit disappointing that the refrigerator did not cool very well. The Onsen was wonderful too, with both an open-air bath and an indoor bath at just the right temperature for me, plus a sauna and a cold plunge—an excellent experience overall. I’m looking forward to my next visit.

As usual, I stayed here with my mother. It was very helpful that we didn’t have to walk much inside the Accommodation, and could use the elevator to get to the large public bath, dining room, and lounge. The interior has a calming feel, and the Room was comfortable to spend time in. The food was delicious; the buffet had a good selection without being overwhelming, and the freshly made tempura was excellent. It wasn’t too large, which made it easy for my mother as well. Since we had a long stay until 1:00 PM, we were truly able to relax. I’d love to visit again.

We enjoyed delicious cuisine and the Onsen, making for a fun and wonderful summer vacation. The 30-tatami Room we used for the first time was also impressive. We also enjoyed Aizu’s local specialties, including Kozuyu and dried cod (bo-dara).

My first time in Aizu-Wakamatsu! This Accommodation was high quality for the price. Unfortunately, it poured with heavy rain, so the stargazing open-air bath was a downpour. I must have made my Reservation too late, and could only book the earliest morning slot. This time we chose a package that included this bath, but the private-use fee of 4,400 yen felt a bit expensive. The meals were delicious, mainly featuring local Aizu cuisine. One small disappointment was that the rice I had been looking forward to was mushy and not very tasty. The staff’s hospitality was excellent. Overall, it was a good Accommodation.

My daughter, who lives far away, was able to come home during the holiday weekend, so we stayed on 9/20 during Silver Week. At first, we had booked another hotel because we planned to go grape picking in Fukushima and then travel on to Morioka. However, with the typhoon making the weather uncertain, we kept reconsidering until the last minute to see if we could make plans closer by. Then an opening came up for a room with a private open-air bath, so we quickly booked here. Since our family travels everywhere by car, changing our itinerary gave us extra time. We arrived early and were about to take a walk around the neighborhood when a parking staff member recommended some spots for us. The footbath was wonderful. The private open-air bath in the room doesn’t have a washing area, but it wasn’t an issue at all—just wash first at the large public bath or in the indoor bath in the room. Dinner and breakfast are buffet-style. When traveling as a family of four, we usually choose buffet accommodations anyway, so we really appreciate Itoen Hotel for its reasonable pricing. Some people have various opinions about the food, but if you search under the same conditions (a room with a private open-air bath), most places cost about twice as much as Itoen Hotel—or more. If you’re unhappy, it simply means you should increase your budget. The Moon Viewing Fair set and the bluefin tuna and roast beef sushi offered during Silver Week were especially popular. The ramen was also delicious—since this is Fukushima, maybe it was inspired by Kitakata-style soup? Because of the typhoon’s impact, we decided to relax at the hotel instead. We enjoyed soaking in the hot springs many times, eating until we were full, winning prizes at the game corner, and having fun playing table tennis—it was a great time. Since I booked in such a hurry, I caused some trouble due to my own mistake—I’m sorry about that. Also after checking out and leaving, my daughter realized something important to her was missing. When we turned back and returned to the hotel right away، they told us it had been found at the shop and they located it immediately—it truly helped us so much. The Onsen was incredibly relaxing, and I was able to unwind and enjoy a peaceful stay. I also appreciated that it is free-flowing from the source and available 24 hours a day. The water temperature was just right, and it left my skin feeling silky smooth. We had dinner on a riverside dining platform, and it was wonderful to enjoy the scenery and the sound of the flowing river while eating. The meal was delicious and had a great seasonal feel. The staff were courteous, which made the stay very comfortable. I would love to return if I have the chance.

It was busy because it was during the summer vacation season, but the bath was spacious, so it didn’t feel too crowded. The food was delicious, but I felt our table was a little far away. Overall, it was good!

The dishes made with local Aizu ingredients were truly delicious. Both the large public bath overlooking the river and the in-Room bath were very relaxing.

It was a very nice Room, and we enjoyed the meals as well. However, there was one thing that concerned us: when the toilet paper ran out, we tried to replace it with a spare roll but couldn’t. We were very disappointed, perhaps because some guests take it home.

As a travel-loving couple, we’ve recently been taking trips where we stay at a Hotel and eat at local restaurants, so this was our first Ryokan stay in a while. We were completely satisfied with everything—the Room, the bath, and the food—and were able to relax and take our time. The Room was honestly too spacious for just two of us, but every space—the Japanese-style room, Western-style room, and bedroom—had its own charm and was wonderful. The bed was also extremely comfortable, and we slept soundly. We also enjoyed the Bluetooth speaker in the Western-style room; it had great sound quality and created an atmosphere that felt like being in a bar. The open-air bath in the Room had continuously flowing natural hot spring water, so we could soak right away after arriving and truly unwind. Dinner featured locally produced Aizu cuisine, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The recommended sake was delicious as well, and it was nice to be able to ask casually for suggestions while choosing. The pricing also felt very reasonable overall. If I had to mention one thing, breakfast was slightly disappointing: refills of rice or tea had to be requested via the in-room phone, and they took quite a while to arrive—so it would have been better if tea had been left in a pot. We were happy with the service too, and would love to visit again if we have the chance.

I stayed with the No Meals Included plan. As it was the off-season, I was able to stay at a very reasonable price. The building is old, but it has been nicely renovated. Since it was a discounted Room, I could hear some plumbing noise, but if you just want to enjoy the Onsen and sleep, this Accommodation is more than satisfactory.

The open-air bath at 6:00 a.m. was amazing. The clear weather was wonderful too. Being wrapped in morning mist—like bathing in the clouds—was also incredible. We’ll definitely be back.

This was our first time staying here. They offered a welcome drink, and we chose the BBQ—everything was made with excellent ingredients! At night, the starry sky was beautiful, and it became a wonderful memory for our whole family. We’d love to come again.

Two private hot spring baths, available 24 hours when open, are exceptional. One is an outdoor bath and the other is indoor. The outdoor bath is a bit small, so it might feel slightly cramped for two people, but the atmosphere is fantastic. The water flow is abundant. It's also convenient that you can check the availability of the baths from your room. The room had a private bathroom and toilet, but with only seven rooms in this accommodation and two private baths available, having a bathroom in the room might not be necessary. It would be nicer if that space were used to make the room larger instead. The room features a large TV with BS channels and thoughtfully placed USB outlets throughout—likely added later—which are very convenient. Meals have standard portions and variety but stand out for their excellent seasoning and creative presentation. Ingredients seem carefully selected as well. The wine selection appears to be sourced internationally by the owner; even as amateurs, we found both red and white wines delightful. The owner enjoys chatting with guests, making it enjoyable for those who like conversation. For those less comfortable with interaction, there's no overly intrusive approach typical of some accommodations like pensions. Pricing is reasonable, offering high overall satisfaction—a wonderful accommodation worth revisiting. One question: Is ordering at least one drink mandatory during meals? If so, it might be better to clarify this policy upfront since some non-drinkers may feel uncomfortable finding out on-site—even though soft drinks are available.

This stay became a truly memorable experience. The staff welcomed us with warm smiles, guided us around the Accommodation with great care, and showed thoughtful attention to every detail—service that naturally made us want to return. We felt comfortable throughout our stay. The Onsen was, simply put, outstanding. Our Room had a private open-air bath that we could enjoy all to ourselves. The water temperature was perfect, and from the moment we stepped in, it felt as if all the tension left our body. Soaking slowly while looking out over the beautiful forest was pure bliss, and we enjoyed it many times during our stay. The amenities also had a wonderful fragrance and quickly became a favorite. We chose the sake tasting Plan, and each selection had its own character and was fun to compare. As a sake lover, I was especially happy to be able to order Hiroki Aiyama separately—an exceptionally rare bottle—so finding it on the menu genuinely thrilled me. It paired perfectly with Aizu dishes such as herring marinated with Japanese pepper leaves. Being able to enjoy such precious sake while traveling is a truly luxurious memory, and it felt like something unique to an Accommodation in Aizu. They also lend inflatable rings for the Onsen. At first I thought, “An inflatable ring in an Onsen?” but after trying it, I was honestly amazed by how comfortable it was. Floating effortlessly while soaking lets you relax even more deeply than usual. It made me appreciate both their creativity and their playful desire for guests to fully enjoy the Onsen experience. The inflatable ring left a strong impression—I could soak almost face-down in complete relaxation. The cuisine, Onsen, and service were all excellent; this wasn’t an Accommodation where only one aspect stood out—the entire experience was consistently high quality. Thoughtful care could be felt everywhere, and the whole place overflowed with genuine hospitality. People say travel is defined by where you stay, and this visit truly proved that saying right. From the superb Onsen and heartwarming service to the eye-opening inflatable ring experience, it became a wonderful trip filled with great memories. We would love to visit again in another season—thank you very much.”
