A calm Accommodation in a quiet, secluded area with hardly any traffic noise, where you can truly feel time pass peacefully. The meals weren’t overly large and the number of dishes was modest, but each one was carefully prepared and delicious. It was an adult-oriented Accommodation where you can genuinely relax and unwind.

This hotel truly embodies exceptional hospitality. The service is attentive, courteous, and thoughtful—and the same goes for the dining. Not only are the flavors and ingredients outstanding, but it’s rare to encounter cuisine prepared with this level of care. I also loved the comfortable room, the hot stone spa, and the atmospheric semi-open-air bath. At all times, you can enjoy a pleasantly private space as well. By the way, on long drives the windshield tends to get dirty and obstruct your view, and although it bothers you, you often end up leaving it (maybe it’s just me?). I was impressed time and again by thoughtful touches like having it quietly wiped clean before departure. So-called “popular inns” often raise expectations too high before your stay, so in reality they can be disappointing more often than not. However, this was a rare hotel that made me want to visit with the stay itself as the purpose of my trip.

Every season, I’m moved by the nature, the cuisine, and the hospitality. This time, even the rainy scenery felt mystical. Even a single dish reflects its history and background and its connection to the region; together with the staff’s gentle warmth and the atmosphere, it feels like something unique to this place—carefully preserved over a long time. At dusk after arriving at the inn, I noticed one of the rear tires on our rental car was flat. There was no spare tire, and when I called the rental car office, they told me to drive slowly to a service station or similar place and have it repaired. When I asked at the front desk, the owner kindly listened and even arranged a repair through an acquaintance. As a result, it was fixed safely before checkout—and at a friendly price. Car trouble that suddenly strikes in an unfamiliar place can be stressful. For a moment I thought our sightseeing plans for the next day were ruined, but thanks to their help we were able to enjoy our trip as planned. I can’t thank the owner enough. Thank you so much. About the inn: it’s an older building, but it’s very clean and well maintained. There are lovely fresh flowers arranged here and there in the rooms and hallways. We used one of the private open-air baths—the larger corner bath—in the morning. The view was wonderful, and I highly recommend bathing in the morning! Most noteworthy is how excellent the meals were. The Shinshu Premium Beef for dinner had sweet marbling and was absolutely delicious—I strongly recommend choosing the “Luxury Meal Plan” so you can enjoy it! The sashimi included Shinshu salmon and char (iwana). Both dinner and breakfast featured many delicious local specialties. Thank you for such wonderful meals. We chose this inn somewhat casually for sightseeing in Obuse, but it became a truly great memory. Thank you very much.

We stayed at Nadeshiko no Ma. The staff were welcoming and attentive, the Room was spacious and spotless, the in-room bath with free-flowing natural hot spring water was excellent, and the meals were truly delicious. This is an Accommodation we will definitely return to.

This was my third stay at a Mercure, and a repeat visit to Mercure Nagano Matsushiro Resort & Spa. Last time we booked a breakfast-only plan, and each family member happily piled their plates with their favorites, saying how delicious everything was. This time we chose the plan with both breakfast and dinner. Dinner had a different feel from breakfast and was very tasty. We were also happy about the all-you-can-eat Shine Muscat grapes. For breakfast, I remember being able to choose from about three types of miso last time, but this time there was just one prepared miso soup. Still, there were so many great options that even after two nights we couldn’t try everything we wanted. We even said as a family that we’d like to stay for about a week. We’ll definitely be back again—thank you in advance.

I visit Sugadaira every summer, so I check early, but I can never get a Reservation. This time I happened to get one, so it was my first stay. The area around the Hotel is very quiet, and the view from the Room is wonderful. After soaking in the Onsen, my skin stayed moisturized for a while. Everyone—the front desk staff and restaurant staff—was very pleasant and welcoming, and I had a truly enjoyable time. The buffet made great use of fresh vegetables and was thoughtfully prepared rather than relying on cheap pre-made sauces. It was delicious. Since it’s so hard to secure an Accommodation Reservation here, I’d come just for the meal alone. There were also many thoughtful touches: a sheet listing the names of the mountains visible from the Room window, places to hang clothes throughout the Room (probably for winter ski wear), a towel for wiping around the washbasin, and a cube-shaped power strip with five outlets. It’s a Hotel with great attention to detail. If I can get another Reservation, I would definitely like to stay again.

I had previously visited for a day trip to the Onsen and loved both the Onsen and the scenery, so I decided to stay overnight. The meals were excellent, the view from the Room was wonderful, and my stay was very comfortable. Unfortunately, the outdoor bath in the morning was so cold that it hardly felt like an Onsen.\n\nAs it is currently off-season, there was no shuttle bus on weekdays, which made things difficult. Even one round-trip Shuttle Service would be very helpful.

The baths are simply excellent. The Rooms and building are somewhat old overall, but the baths are truly wonderful. The meals aren’t flashy, but they taste good and come in satisfying portions, so we were pleased overall. We were able to set off fireworks in the parking area a short distance away, and the kids seemed to really enjoy it.
