This was a wonderful guest Room worthy of the “Special Suite Annex.” In particular, the Japanese-style Room facing Lake Shinji was a corner Room with a small Japanese garden, and we were able to relax while sitting on the veranda. It was unfortunate that we couldn’t go out onto the terrace due to the rain, but we were able to take our time soaking in the Onsen in the in-Room scenic-view bath while looking out over Lake Shinji. Each dish was excellent, and the sea bream rice at breakfast was outstanding.

I’d heard the rumors, and they were true: the setting, hospitality, and cuisine were all outstanding. I’ve always felt that the Tokugawa family helped shape the foundations of Japanese culture, and Shiraisi-ya is said to be an even older establishment with over 300 years of history. I felt as though I experienced the secret to its longevity firsthand. I’d gladly recommend it to friends.

This Accommodation was the final stop on our 3-night, 4-day summer trip through Okayama, Tottori, and Shimane, and it was truly a wonderful place to end our journey. Check-in was very courteous and smooth, and I was surprised—in a good way—that an attendant escorted us to our Room while explaining the building along the way, which is rare these days. They also carefully explained everything in the Room, and I was impressed by the traditional level of hospitality. The Room had great taste, and the open-air bath in the Room was free-flowing Onsen water. It was a bit hot, but adding some water quickly made it comfortable enough to enter, so we enjoyed it many times during our stay. With Rooms that have an open-air Onsen bath, insects often get into either the bath or the Room, but for some reason we had no such issues here and were comfortable throughout. Dinner was served in a private room; the attendant’s explanations were thorough, and everything tasted excellent. The final dish seemed especially delicious—my husband and son even asked for seconds. Breakfast was buffet-style. We went at a later time close to last order, but we were not rushed at all and could enjoy our meal comfortably until the end. We chose late check-out as well. Although there were hardly any other guests around at that time (at other Hotels with late check-out there are usually few staff members left and no send-off), they continued to assist us until departure—taking photos for us and seeing us off properly—which felt like outstanding service. In addition, there were foot reflexology massages as well as foot baths, hand baths, and even face baths. Our Plan also included lounge access—all of which we enjoyed. It is rare to find such a large Ryokan (Hotel) with excellent Facility offerings, ample staffing levels, great service, plus wonderful meals and Onsen. It really shows their dedication. We had a very satisfying stay. Thank you very much.

We visited Shimane Prefecture for the first time to go to the Izumo Taisha Shrine we’d long dreamed of seeing for our wedding anniversary. While looking for a Ryokan, we found a wonderful one in an Onsen town—though it was a bit far from Izumo Taisha—and decided to check it out. We were especially drawn to the amazing Plan offering 90 minutes of all-you-can-eat crab, so we made a Reservation right away!! The guest Room was very spacious—more than enough for two people—and it was very clean!! Every dish was truly delicious, and we thoroughly enjoyed the crab until we were completely satisfied. The other kaiseki dishes were also luxurious; the clam clear soup was of course delicious, and so were the meat dishes and sea bream shabu-shabu… Everything exceeded our expectations!! The Onsen was also excellent. I personally loved the open-air bath in particular. When I went in at night, I felt the water temperature might have been slightly on the lukewarm side, but in the morning it was just perfect—so I think the weather may have had an effect. It felt so good that I wanted to stay in both at night and in the morning. The next day my skin felt smooth, and I could definitely feel its benefits. The front desk staff were kind as well. Next time, I’d love to visit again on a family trip with my parents and my spouse’s parents. We’re very happy to have found such a great Ryokan that we can recommend to anyone.

It’s right across the road from Matsue Station, but you have to use an underground passage, which can be a bit inconvenient if you have luggage. The Hotel is clean, and amenities (including water) are available in the lobby for you to take what you need. The dinner and breakfast are buffet-style; the selection is neither too large nor too small, and felt just right. There are many dessert options, but I wished there were a bit more creativity—fewer choices with higher quality would be better.

This was my first stay at Dormy Inn, and I finally understood why my daughters always say, “This Hotel is great” whenever they use it on their trips. It goes without saying that it was quiet and the breakfast was delicious. What I personally loved most was the bottled water in the fridge—it was incredibly cold and felt amazing on my sweaty throat. Since it’s often left outside the fridge at other places, I was genuinely happy about that. There were also snacks provided, which helped satisfy a small hunger. Having a TV in the bathroom was a first for me, and watching a program while soaking in the bath was such a unique experience. The staff were all cheerful and efficient, which left a great impression. Thanks to this stay, I had a wonderful time in Matsue. As an aside, Dormy Inn’s character “Dormy Inko-chan” is adorable—it's rare to see a mascot with that kind of look (lol). Thank you for the sticker as well. I’ll be back again. Thank you very much.

We traveled from Aichi Prefecture to visit Tottori and Shimane. After sightseeing at Matsue Castle, we made a Reservation at this Ryokan. Even though it was the day of our trip, the front desk staff were very helpful, and the Room and overall environment were excellent.\n\nIf you’re heading from Matsue Castle to Izumo Taisha, I highly recommend this Ryokan.\n\nThe morning clam miso soup was delicious.\n\nI would love to stay again if I have the chance. Choosing a Room with a lake view was absolutely the right decision! It’s a wonderful Hotel, and the price was very satisfying!! They offer free bicycle rentals, so we could cycle to Matsue Castle and along the lakeside, and it became an amazing trip. The Onsen was also very relaxing, and I was impressed by the choice of shampoo and conditioner. We were also very satisfied with the breakfast buffet with a great view. All of the staff were friendly, and we had a comfortable stay. Next time, I’d like to visit to coincide with the fireworks festival. Thank you for taking such good care of us.

The Room was very clean and lovely, and I had a comfortable stay. The windows open fully, so you can really enjoy the riverside atmosphere. In the morning, I could even see boats collecting clams. It’s also close to the bus stop, making it convenient for getting anywhere. Everyone at the front desk and the cleaning staff were kind and helpful. The bathroom was clean as well, and it was very pleasant to use. One downside was that there was no luggage rack. Since I have back pain, I placed my luggage on the desk with permission, but then I couldn’t use the desk, which was disappointing. Also, not having a clock by the bed was a small inconvenience. If these points are improved, I think it would be an even more comfortable stay. That said, it’s a wonderful Hotel. I’d definitely like to stay again if I have the chance.

We were welcomed at the entrance, completed a seated check-in, and when we arrived on our Room floor, the lovely aroma (bergamot) made us feel wonderful. Our Room was upgraded for us. The open-air bath in the Room was spacious and very relaxing. The large public bath was also excellent. Dinner was delicious from start to finish. The Shimane wine as an aperitif was so good that we also had a glass of white wine—and the tasting of three local sakes was outstanding. The meal included wagyu simmered in wine, simmered nodoguro (blackthroat seaperch), Shimane wagyu shabu-shabu, and unameshi—all incredibly tasty. I was completely full and thought I could only manage dessert, but I ended up finishing everything. So full! Breakfast was also wonderful—the freshly grilled overnight-dried conger eel was amazing. And my favorite treat, the shijimi clam miso soup, had large clams and a light flavor; it naturally made me let out an “ah,” like something out of Bakébaké-style folklore. All of the staff were polite and kind, and we felt very comfortable throughout our stay. It turned into a great trip, and we would love to visit again. Thank you very much.

After entering, you take off your shoes, and since the entire Accommodation is tatami, you can walk around barefoot, which was great for children. The lobby and Room were spotless down to every corner, and everything—from the facilities to the Onsen—was impeccably cleaned, making it very comfortable to stay. At night, we could enjoy free late-night soba, and after bathing there was complimentary ice cream and more. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety of options and was delicious. We were completely satisfied with this Accommodation! The staff were consistently pleasant and welcoming, so I’d recommend this Accommodation to everyone visiting Shimane. It’s an Accommodation that made us want to come back again. Thank you very much.

I stayed for one night with dinner and breakfast included. The meals used local ingredients and were lightly seasoned, letting the natural flavors shine—everything was delicious. The Onsen was fed directly from the source, and my skin still felt smooth the next day. Despite the homey atmosphere, I could really feel their hospitality. I also appreciated that they served our meal quickly so we could go see the fireflies.

The building feels a bit old, but the Accommodation is clean and well maintained throughout. The front desk staff were all polite and kind. Because it was hot, they kindly let us into our Room earlier than the check-in time, which was a big help. We had a beautiful view of Lake Shinji from the Room. The Onsen was very relaxing, and dinner was delicious—we were able to enjoy it at a leisurely pace. We also made a Reservation for the private bath, and it was truly amazing. A must-try! Everything was wonderful, and it’s an Accommodation I’d love to stay at again.

The Onsen had wonderfully pleasant water with a silky, skin-clinging feel.

The town itself isn’t very large, but the street where the Accommodation is located has a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere—perfect for anyone who wants to slow down and unwind. The bath is amazing. Even during the hottest time of year in the city, it’s a bit cooler here, and in the morning you can open the window and let in a refreshing breeze. Not only the bath, but also the wooden building was wonderful—the gentle scent of wood as you move around felt incredibly soothing.

We thoroughly enjoyed both the dinner and breakfast buffets. At dinner, the Shimane Wagyu roast beef and sweet shrimp were especially delicious. For breakfast, in addition to making our own seafood bowl, we also loved the Shimane Wagyu beef stew, which was hearty with plenty of meat. The garden was beautiful, and all the staff were kind and helpful. Thank you very much.

This is a long-established Hotel located at the foot of Kunibiki Bridge near the station. I ended up staying for three nights, and the interior had been renovated, so it was comfortable. The self-serve style of picking up necessary amenities from the front desk is common these days, but they also had small snacks here, which was a nice touch. There was a good selection of welcome drinks, and breakfast was delicious with a wide variety of side dishes.

The miso soup at breakfast, always generously filled with shijimi clams, is excellent. Thank you. The batteries in the Room lighting remote control were running low, so please replace them.

The Room was very spacious, and the children were thrilled as soon as we arrived. During dinner, one of our children suddenly felt unwell, and we really appreciated how quickly you brought towels, a bag, and a chair so we could sit in the hallway. Once they felt better, our child said they want to stay again. Thank you very much.

Our first family trip in seven years. As the kids have grown up, it has become harder to coordinate schedules for all five of us, so we decided at the end of last year to make time during this summer vacation and planned this trip. We were very satisfied with the Room size, service, and meals—it felt like a shame that one night wasn’t enough to fully enjoy everything. We especially loved the seasoning of the dishes, Shimane-grown Koshihikari rice, and the local sake. We were extremely satisfied. It became a wonderful memory. Thank you very much.
