Both dinner and breakfast were very delicious, with just the right portions and well-timed service. We enjoyed a comfortable stay.

I had a very comfortable stay. Both the property and the Room were clean and well maintained, with thorough housekeeping. The meals were delicious and served in just the right portions. The staff’s service was naturally friendly and made me feel at ease. The only disappointment was that I was looking forward to a beer after my bath, but there was no shop or vending machine, so I had to wait until dinner. That said, this is a rather indulgent request given how well stocked the drink bar in the lobby is. It was an Accommodation I would like to visit again.

Thank you very much for your prompt and kind support when my wife’s condition suddenly worsened and required emergency assistance. We are also truly grateful for your thoughtfulness in preparing a breakfast box for us when we returned from the hospital. The meals, the Room, and every other space were all wonderfully comfortable and relaxing. There was a great selection of books—many older titles in a variety of bindings, as well as plenty of new ones—so for a book lover like me, it felt like heaven. We were three women traveling together, and at night we didn’t even talk—we each quietly read our own books until we fell asleep. It was the best time. Next time, I’d love to do a Multiple Night Stay and fully immerse myself in reading, so I’d be happy if prices don’t go up too much or if there’s a good-value Multiple Night Stay Plan! The food was also delicious, and the Onsen Facility was excellent: non-slip flooring in the large public bath, a stone sauna, and private Onsen baths. The staff were also very kind and welcoming with warm smiles. Thank you very much.

We stayed here to express our everyday gratitude to my parents-in-law. The facilities offer a quiet, understated luxury, and the staff provide thoughtful, seamless hospitality. My parents-in-law were deeply moved by this first-time experience, and it reaffirmed that choosing this place was the right decision. Although it wasn’t for an anniversary or any special occasion, it became a wonderful day that reminded us how precious time like this can be. Thank you very much.

The Facility, meals, and staff service were all excellent. However, the only issue was the shuttle bus. We chose the full-course dinner starting at 7:30 PM. We took the bus from the Annex building and arrived at the restaurant on time, but we were kept waiting—perhaps because the previous seating ran over—and the course progressed very slowly. When we tried to take the bus back to the Annex building afterward, shuttle service had already ended. A wagon was arranged for us so we could return, but I felt bad and apologized repeatedly as I got out of the car. I wonder if it was our responsibility to confirm the time of the last bus and inform the restaurant in advance, but I do hope there can be more consideration for guests staying in the Annex building (for example, not accepting a 7:30 PM Reservation from the start). The morning cheese was especially delicious.

This was my first time staying at this Ryokan, and I loved the atmosphere and the view from the Room. The staff were wonderful, and the hostess’s hospitality was especially impressive. Every dish was delicious; my favorite was the clear soup, which I would love to enjoy again if I have the chance.

We stayed as two adults. We were able to enjoy a variety of alcoholic drinks in the lounge, and it felt like a quiet, sophisticated space. You can have a truly wonderful time here. The Room was very clean and comfortable. The meals were also delicious, and we could dine at a relaxed pace; there was a great variety of ingredients that felt nourishing for the body, which we really appreciated. If we have the chance to visit Tateshina again, this is a Hotel we would definitely like to stay at.

In winter, you get out of the car before reaching the Accommodation and walk the last few minutes to it. It surprised me at first, but the moment the sound of cars fades and only snow and the river remain is truly memorable. Rather than feeling inconvenient, it feels like a quiet shift away from everyday life. Inside the building, water keeps running to prevent freezing, reminding you that people are living here deep in the winter mountains. There were even a few insects that had woken up from hibernation, but they weren’t causing any trouble—it felt like they were simply part of this place. The Onsen is more comfortable if you let your body adjust before soaking rather than rushing in, and the fine sand on the bottom of the bath felt fresh against my soles. Unlike an overly polished Onsen, it really makes you feel immersed in nature. The tofu served at night had a gentle flavor, but the freshly made tofu in the morning had a slight bitterness that actually stayed with me. It felt like tasting the local water and soybeans as they are. At breakfast, they also shared a recommended way to enjoy tamago kake gohan: mix only the egg white first, pour it over rice, then place the yolk on top—trying it was a fun moment. I found myself wondering how long it had been since I last laid out my own futon; I was surprisingly good at it and felt quietly satisfied. Even using an unfamiliar type of Room key felt refreshingly different. When you turn off the lights it becomes truly pitch-dark; even waiting for your eyes to adjust feels pleasant, and in the morning I naturally woke up to light filtering through shoji screens. This time it was about a five-minute walk from where we parked; if I’d left my smartphone in the car too, I might have experienced an even slower sense of time. Many guests were not only families but also solo travelers, which made it especially memorable that I could relax comfortably on my own. In everyday life there aren’t many chances to remember this kind of pace—but once you visit, it’s a place that somehow feels easy to settle into.

I found this site and, as a birthday gift for my wife, I splurged more than on our usual trips and made a Reservation for the “Shinshu Beef Tasting Kaiseki” on the Sky Comfort Floor. When we checked in, thanks to the Hotel’s consideration, we were upgraded to a Luxury Suite at no extra charge. It was truly eye-opening. That alone would have been more than enough, but dinner—the “Shinshu Beef Tasting Kaiseki”—was also outstanding: sweet and tender beef, a rich aroma, and exceptional hospitality. This has definitely become one of the Hotels we want to return to. Thank you very much. My wife was delighted as well. The open-air bath was also wonderful—just like in the photos on the site—and incredibly relaxing.

I love the calm atmosphere of Tateshina Tokyu Hotel and have stayed here several times. Its setting in the forest, the dignified yet unpretentious interiors, and the quiet time you can spend here offer a charm that is hard to find at other hotels. This time was no different, and it reminded me again how much I like this hotel. Also, though it’s a small thing, I really like the toothbrushes in the guest rooms. They’re comfortable to use, and I can feel the hotel’s thoughtfulness even in these details. I hope you will continue with the current ones. On the other hand, precisely because I’ve been coming for many years, there are a few things that disappointed me. The biggest one is that Japanese dinner has been discontinued since this year. On a Multiple Night Stay, we used to enjoy being able to choose “Western tonight, Japanese tomorrow” within the hotel itself. Especially for us—who prefer not to drive once we arrive and instead relax in the forest or inside—the option was very important. French cuisine certainly has its appeal, but having Western meals both nights makes it feel like a slightly different hotel than before. I would be happy if Japanese dinner becomes an option again someday. I was also sorry to hear that the garden pool, long loved by guests, has ended operations starting this year. I understand it was due to aging facilities (Facility), but combined with the end of Japanese dinner options (Facility), it feels as though some of what made Tateshina Tokyu special is gradually disappearing. One more thing I would love to see enhanced is the in-house library collection (Facility). This is such a quiet Hotel where you can relax while looking out at the forest—perfect for reading. The current selection feels lacking not so much in quantity as in curation quality. If there were more books that you’d want to pick up specifically because you came to Tateshina—on Shinshu’s nature and culture, mountains, architecture, travel writing, literature—it would make time spent at this Hotel even richer. I’m not asking for new facilities or services one after another. Rather, I hope you will continue cherishing and preserving what makes this Hotel unique. These comments come from someone who truly likes this Hotel—and I hope to keep visiting for many years to come.

My spouse and I stayed for two nights with our dog. Breakfast and dinner were buffet-style, and the selection was plentiful—everything was delicious. Because dining times are set at check-in, we didn’t have to deal with crowds or difficulty getting food. Dishes were replenished frequently, so we were very satisfied with the meals. The large public bath was also great. While the Facilities overall feel a bit dated, there are updated areas such as a sauna and a round single-person bath. Everything was very clean, making it a pleasure to use. Since it was summer, the pool in the garden was open. Families with children were using it; it’s quite large, with a small trampoline nearby and plenty of chairs poolside—both parents and kids should be very happy. The garden is adjacent to a sculpture park, which connects onward to Lake Tateshina. Over three days, we enjoyed walking our dog while viewing sculptures in the park and circling Lake Tateshina—we never ran out of places to stroll. As for the Room in the dog-friendly building: the interior is somewhat plain, but it was well cleaned, had a kitchen, and we stayed comfortably. It would be nice if you could provide towels for dogs. Lastly, everyone—from the front desk staff to the restaurant team—was warm and welcoming. This Hotel has wonderful surroundings (parks and a lake) and feels like one of the highest-potential Hotels in Tateshina. Even so, keeping prices lower than other nearby Hotels while maintaining that level of service and Facilities must take tremendous effort. I hope this historic Hotel continues for many years to come. We will definitely stay again with our dog. Thank you very much for taking care of us.

Dinner was delicious as well—an unusual style of half-buffet with robatayaki grilling—and the large public bath with an open-air bath was very relaxing. The staff were courteous and attentive, which we really appreciated. The Facility is a bit old, but we chose this Accommodation in Tateshina as the place to commemorate reuniting with my wife for the first time in 50 years, and we were very satisfied. We stayed here for a family ski trip. It seems to be a hotel condominium type of accommodation. If it suits your purpose, it’s an excellent choice. However, if you are looking for full services (such as staff guiding you to your room or room service), this might not be the right option for you. Interaction with hotel staff is mostly limited to check-in and check-out. The staff were polite and kind, which even made our child say, "He was such a nice man." The accommodation is almost like a 2DK (1LDK) apartment with a regular kitchen included. There’s no gas stove but an IH cooktop instead. As mentioned in the hotel's guide, basic tableware and cooking utensils are provided, so you can prepare most meals if you bring your own ingredients. However, please note that there are no seasonings available, so make sure to purchase them along with other groceries if needed. For those who find cooking troublesome, there is also an oven microwave available for heating frozen foods. One downside is that there are no supermarkets or convenience stores nearby; you'll need to drive about 20-30 minutes by car to get groceries. That said, this could also add some charm to the travel experience for those who enjoy such adventures. Overall, my family had a very positive impression of our stay here and would love to use this place again when we visit the area in the future!

We stayed here again this year, following our visit last year. Last year it was very cold even during the day, perhaps because of the rain, but this year we were blessed with great weather and it was almost hot when we arrived. As the sun set and it was time for dinner, it became wonderfully cool, and the meal was absolutely excellent! After dinner, we stepped outside and looked up at the sky—there were so many stars it felt like they might fall from above, and we even saw a shooting star. It was the best night sky! This is a quiet pension where time seems to slow down and you can truly relax. Thank you very much.

I love wild boar and travel around to enjoy it. The miso soup with plenty of mushrooms was incredibly delicious! The sashimi and salt-grilled char were also excellent. I came for lunch as well, and the soba noodles were tasty (soba is also served at night). There are two baths, and since there was only one other group of guests, I could use them whenever I wanted—lucky me! It was very relaxing. The futon was fluffy, allowing me to sleep soundly and recover from fatigue—it was perfect. Besides basic amenities, the bath area had many items that seemed like forgotten belongings from other guests. There were few power outlets in the Room. For sightseeing, a waterfall is within walking distance; arriving early to relax might be a good idea! Perhaps because my Room was in the back, the Wi-Fi signal was weak. Overall, I had a wonderful time here! I'd love to visit again!

Even during extreme heat, the property is located in a cool area, so you can stay comfortable and feel refreshed. For travelers who mainly cook for themselves or eat out, the kitchen utensils and tableware are provided—just bring your ingredients and enjoy meals on your own schedule.

We checked in around 9 PM after watching the Tateshina Lake Fireworks Festival. The gracious master warmly welcomed us. Looking at the wall, there was a jazz live poster. It was a pity that we missed a major artist's live performance by just one day. It's wonderful to have such a big band come to a pension, which is quite charming given the location. We used a room for four people with just the two of us, so it was very spacious. The beds were two single-sized ones, very comfortable with excellent cushioning and performance. The bath was a unit bath like in a regular household, with water replaced for each user, and there were two of them. There was plenty of hot water, which was nice. The toilet was shared, but it had a washlet, so there was no inconvenience. For example, there was no trash can or tissue in the room, but there were high-quality paper towels in the washroom. There was also a free lounge with a refrigerator, microwave, and various tableware that could be used freely, making it a very convenient system once you got used to it. It was a cold night with temperatures dropping below 10°C, but the room heater quietly and comfortably warmed the space. Breakfast was served by the owner couple on a single plate, but the salad with plenty of local vegetables was very fresh and delicious. The bread was all-you-can-eat, so those who want to eat a lot are welcome. Considering the price, I think it's a property with excellent cost performance. Next time, I would love to stay for the live performance. I wish the owner couple continued health and success.

This Accommodation is in a very quiet location surrounded by nature, perfect for a relaxing stay. We made a Reservation for a dog-friendly Room, and it was wonderful to spend time in nature with our dog without any worries. The sauna is private, so you can enjoy it as many times as you like at any time. The outdoor relaxation and cold plunge in the forest air felt amazing. Check-in was self-service. After you complete guest registration via the URL sent by email in advance, you will be able to check your Room number and check-in code. Next time, we’d love to come back for a Multiple Night Stay and enjoy some unhurried time with our dog!
