I was impressed by the staff’s drive to improve. I was especially amazed by the chef’s thorough attention to detail—even down to the choice of serving dishes. I was also struck by the president’s wonderful spirit when I previously stayed at Takinami, and it’s simply incredible that an even more upgraded Accommodation has been created. I would love to visit again and enjoy your outstanding, carefully crafted cuisine. Thank you very much.

I couldn’t forget the Onsen that moved me last year, so I stayed again to fully enjoy its wonderful waters. The spring quality was unchanged, and the silky feel on my skin was exceptional. The open-air bath in Room 88 was also incredibly comfortable, and the cuisine had been upgraded—I was completely satisfied. I also enjoyed the chef’s creative dishes with a literary flair once again. It’s a bit far from Tokyo, but I’d love to stay again to be soothed by this outstanding Onsen.

The weather wasn’t great, but the view from the window was wonderful, and I had a comfortable stay. The meals looked beautiful and tasted great, and I really enjoyed them. I was surprised by the afternoon-tea-style presentation. Towels are provided at the Onsen, so you can go without bringing anything. You can wear the samue anywhere in the building, which makes it very relaxing. The samue is comfortable to wear, and it has pockets so you can carry your phone with you.

I stayed for one night and two days. Rooms & Amenities → The in-room open-air bath was clean and very relaxing. Hospitality & Service → I was warmly welcomed from check-in, and the staff responded pleasantly whenever I needed anything, which made me very happy. Onsen Baths → The large public bath was spacious, and the outdoor open-air bath area was also clean. I also appreciated the service of having drinks and towels available in front of the sauna room. Dining → I only had breakfast, but it was delicious.

I visited Niseko to see Mt. Yotei. Unfortunately, it was raining and I couldn’t see it, but the delicious meals made up for it. Thankfully, the next day was sunny and I was able to see Mt. Yotei in all its glory. The Italian set course was excellent—each dish was delicious, and the flow of the course felt natural and very well put together.

The hospitality was outstanding. From check-in to check-out, the staff were consistently attentive. Especially at checkout, they even wiped the car windows. It had rained the night before, so the windows may have been dirty, but this was the first time anyone has ever done that for me—I was truly impressed. Both the quality and quantity of the meals were very satisfying. Dinner featured a duck hot pot as the main dish, along with plenty of extras such as sashimi and Kasumi crab (benizuwai crab). Everything was delicious. If I had to mention anything, it would be that the Ryokan’s bath is small and it’s a bit away from the center of town. Personally, I enjoyed walking around while exploring and visiting different public baths, and they also said they could drive guests there upon request. As for the small bath at the Ryokan, I think it works well if you make use of the public baths too while still enjoying what’s available on-site. I would definitely like to stay again. The Room was a beautifully renovated guest room with an open-air bath, and I was happy to be able to relax and enjoy the Onsen in the Room as well. The staff were very courteous, and we had a comfortable stay. Dinner was delicious, featuring mainly seafood. We also really enjoyed watching the explanation and live demonstration of Oga Peninsula’s specialty stone-grilled dish. Breakfast was a buffet, and everything was tasty—we were completely full. It was a bit of a long trip, but we made wonderful memories. Thank you very much.

I had a very comfortable stay. Both the property and the Room were clean and well maintained, with thorough housekeeping. The meals were delicious and served in just the right portions. The staff’s service was naturally friendly and made me feel at ease. The only disappointment was that I was looking forward to a beer after my bath, but there was no shop or vending machine, so I had to wait until dinner. That said, this is a rather indulgent request given how well stocked the drink bar in the lobby is. It was an Accommodation I would like to visit again.

I think this is a very satisfying Accommodation. Although it is not an Accommodation within Kamikochi, if you are trekking from Taisho Pond to Kappa Bridge, I would recommend this Accommodation even more. We were able to park until 3:00 PM the next day, and it was also possible to use the Onsen for a day trip after the trek. The staff’s smiles were delightful, and it was a wonderful, relaxing Accommodation.

The riverside open-air bath was closed, but we used the outdoor Onsen reached by going down 300 steps. The staircase is so narrow that only one person can pass at a time. We were told it’s open until 11:00 p.m., but we were worried about our footing at night, so we went in the evening and again in the morning. While soaking, we enjoyed the river’s flow and the mountains, listening to the sound of the water. The stairs were tough, but I truly felt glad we came. The semi-open-air bath down about 20 steps was also wonderful, with a clear view of the mountains right in front of you. The temperature was perfect for me. I didn’t expect much from the indoor bath, but it had large windows and felt very pleasant; there was a jacuzzi, a reclining bath, and a hotter pool where we could relax comfortably. Everyone at the Accommodation was very kind and welcoming. Dinner came in many small dishes. The beef and the meatballs in the hot pot were delicious. Even simple items like the beef sauce, hot-pot broth, and pickles were all excellent. The portions were just right for us as a couple. I think you need to be fairly fit to visit an outdoor Onsen that requires going down 300 steps—but I’m really glad we did. This isn’t about the Accommodation itself, but both the bus driver from Nasushiobara Station and the person at Shiobara Onsen Terminal who explained a map of Shiobara Onsen were incredibly friendly, which made our memories of this trip even better. Thank you very much!

We stay here every year around this time. The calm atmosphere remains unchanged, the food is delicious, and the staff are wonderful, so we are always very satisfied. Until now, we have visited as a couple, but this year we brought our two children and came as a family of four. Our children also had a very fulfilling time and were extremely happy with their stay. We would love to return next year as a family of four.

Because we moved our trip home forward at short notice, we ended up making a Reservation the day before. From welcome to farewell, everyone at the Accommodation greeted us with warm smiles throughout. The meals—both dinner and breakfast—were just the right portions for us as a couple in our 60s, and everything was delicious. We especially enjoyed the local cuisine, steak, local sake, and local wine—it was wonderful. The younger staff also chatted with us while explaining the dishes, and our Room was quiet and relaxing, making it a great memory. If I had to mention anything, it would be nice to have two Room keys, and I would have preferred a lighter down comforter. Thank you very much.

Stayed with my dog. Due to my mistake, I had made a Reservation for a different Room than intended, but they kindly helped me change it, which was a great relief. Both the Room and the in-room open-air bath were wonderful. The large public bath was spacious with excellent water quality, and I enjoyed it many times. The meals were excellent in both quality and quantity for both breakfast and dinner, and I thoroughly enjoyed them. It seems the owner will be changing, but I hope everything will continue just as it is now.

We were completely satisfied with everything—the Room, the meals, and the Onsen! We truly appreciated all the accommodations made for my nephew’s allergies. The kids also found lots of stag beetles and made wonderful summer vacation memories. It looks like this will become an annual tradition.

Although the sky was unfortunately overcast, it was the perfect season to comfortably soak in the lukewarm natural spring water, and it felt wonderful! The meals are delicious and full of healthy options, and combined with the Onsen benefits, I feel better every time I stay. Perhaps because I kept coming back, my frozen shoulder has completely healed! The summer à la carte fried rock oysters were especially delicious—I’d love to have them again next year! This was my first Saturday stay, and I enjoyed listening to a jazz piano performance. It matched beautifully with the mysterious flicker of the bamboo lights in the garden and was incredibly soothing. There were familiar tunes and summer songs, and in the second half they even took requests, so there was a great variety of music and it was truly enjoyable. Ending with “Cradle Song” was also a stylish touch. I’m looking forward to visiting again in autumn.

If I had to mention something, the parking lot was far away and there were only stairs, so getting around was a bit difficult. Above all, I truly admired the staff’s warm and courteous service.

Last time I was deeply moved, thinking, “What an incredible Accommodation,” and on this visit that feeling only grew stronger. A sense of unhurried calm and quiet fills the entire property. The Japanese paintings and seasonal tea flowers displayed along the corridors are beautiful, and tasteful touches can be felt everywhere. The Room is spacious and impeccably clean, and even the furnishings reflect the owner’s refined aesthetic and excellent taste. I was especially captivated by the small sewing kit, letter box, and other thoughtfully placed items—each one quietly charming. Rather than emphasizing luxury outright, I believe this Accommodation’s greatest appeal lies in how much care is devoted to every detail. I originally found this place while looking for an Accommodation where I could truly enjoy the cuisine, but even among similarly priced culinary Ryokan featured on IKYU.com, the food here feels a level—or two—above. Not only are the dishes crafted around seasonal ingredients; everything is outstanding: the choice of tableware, presentation, and even the dashi in each soup bowl. There is no end to what I could write—every single dish moved me. The staff member who introduced each course (perhaps the young proprietress) was also wonderful. It wasn’t just an explanation of what we were eating; it naturally stirred our imagination, anticipation, and appetite even before we began. This too felt like hospitality unique to Toryukan. This time as well, I traveled with my elderly parents. Each trip with them carries a quiet thought that it may be our last together someday, so we cherish every moment we can share. We were truly grateful for how warmly all of your staff treated us—it remains deeply in my heart. Thanks to you all, we once again spent a wonderful time together as a family and created unforgettable memories. I feel Toryukan is not simply an Accommodation where you stay overnight to rest—it is a place that lets you savor time itself as it flows there. Beautiful surroundings, exceptional cuisine, a quiet and comfortable atmosphere, warm hospitality. We would love to return again to enjoy each season’s beauty—and its cuisine. This was my second stay. Last time, due to an unexpected matter, I couldn’t have breakfast, so this time I stayed until just before checkout. Even though it was a weekday, the Accommodation was almost fully booked. However, I was able to use the private bath with hardly any waiting. The in-room bath also had a green sulfur hot spring with mineral deposits floating in it. At first the bathwater was very hot, but you adjusted the flow of the water for me, and after that I could enjoy it comfortably. Thank you very much. I would love to visit again.

I stay here once a year for a relaxing trip with friends. We chat, drink, and eat, enjoy the luxury of doing nothing, and take our time soaking in the Onsen to feel refreshed. I’d love to stay again next year. The meals and service are excellent, and my friend said she’d like to come back on a parent-and-child trip.
