This long-established Ryokan had a calm atmosphere, and the garden was wonderful. Most notably, the in-room rock bath was so spacious that it felt almost too much for our family of three, and with free-flowing hot spring water straight from the source, we lost count of how many times we soaked. The meals were also carefully prepared; everything was delicious, especially the tasty rice—so good that our son, who usually never asks for seconds, did. We would definitely like to stay again. Thank you very much.

I booked this Onsen with a scenic-view bath after it caught my eye while searching for an Accommodation. Since meals are served in the Room, I was a bit concerned about staff coming in and out, but they delivered the food outside the door, which made it much more comfortable. We also laid out our own futons, so no one entered the Room during dinner—this suited us well. It felt like that helped keep the price a bit more reasonable. Dinner had many dishes and was delicious, and we were even more satisfied with the tasty local rice. The bath was a good size and perfect for relaxing at our own pace. The Shuttle Service to the station was also very convenient. We’d like to stay again. Thank you very much.

Our family of four stayed in a room with a private open-air bath, and it was amazing—even putting it mildly. The meals, baths, and views were all excellent. The food was generous and delicious, and at night we enjoyed a sky full of stars. The bath left our skin silky smooth—especially the morning bath, which I highly recommend. This was our first stay, but it’s an Accommodation we definitely want to visit again. Thank you very much.

The grounds and building were more spacious than I expected. I was a little concerned about the many stairs to the baths, but this time we had a corner Room with a great view, and it was spacious, quiet, and very relaxing. The baths are simple, but I could soak comfortably, and the open-air bath felt wonderful and soothing. I would definitely like to visit again. Thank you for your hospitality.

We stayed here as a couple in August. It was very reasonably priced, yet everything was excellent overall. The meal included wagyu beef grilled on a ceramic plate, and even if it was cooked a bit too long, it was still very tender. The other dishes were also delicious. The portions were generous, and we were completely satisfied with both dinner and breakfast. The staff were friendly, and the building was clean. We’d love to use the bath again. If we have the chance, we would definitely stay again, and we would recommend it to others as well.

Koshika Onsen is wonderfully relaxing with its free-flowing natural hot spring water, and the aroma at the front desk is also lovely. This was my second stay, and I’m truly very satisfied! I was told the aroma is from Tomisako Shoten, so I even placed a personal order. The Room has its own Onsen, so I could enjoy it at night and in the morning and feel refreshed. The Facility is also kept very clean!

I have been staying here about twice a year for the past few years, and every time it has been completely satisfying. Dinner is French cuisine, and everything—from the meat and fish to the dessert—was delicious. The freshly baked bread was truly excellent, and I had seconds. There is also reasonably priced wine, so I had a very pleasant stay. Breakfast was delicious as well. The Room was luxurious and lovely; however, it was a bit disappointing that the refrigerator did not cool very well. The Onsen was wonderful too, with both an open-air bath and an indoor bath at just the right temperature for me, plus a sauna and a cold plunge—an excellent experience overall. I’m looking forward to my next visit.

Once again, I was very satisfied with the cuisine, the Room, and the service, and had a wonderfully relaxing stay. Dinner in particular was excellent and truly outstanding, including the salt-grilled ayu we ordered separately. One request: drinks in the lobby lounge end at 7:00 PM, but it would be appreciated if guests could have a drink after dinner, so I would be grateful if you could consider staying open until around 9:00 PM. In any case, I would like to visit again in a different season and look forward to enjoying your delicious food and sake. Thank you for your hospitality.

Thank you again for a wonderful stay. This was our first drive in our new car and also our first stay at Gora Kadan, but we were met with heavy rain. Even so, thanks to the warm welcome from all the staff, your help with loading and unloading our luggage, and your thoughtful care for my mother-in-law, all of our worries disappeared and we were able to enjoy a comfortable stay. We sincerely appreciate your attentive hospitality. We would love to stay again.

The staff member who welcomed us was outstanding, and the drinks and light snacks in the lobby were excellent, giving us the immediate impression that this was a top-class Hotel. The meals were delicious and high quality, and we were very satisfied with the thorough explanations and attentive service despite how busy it seemed. The location is great, with beautiful views of the Seto Inland Sea and a well-maintained building; it was comfortable, and because it faces west we could enjoy the scenery throughout without worrying about direct sunlight. The private bath was also spacious, clean, and comfortable. The late-night curry service was perfectly timed when we felt a bit hungry, which increased our satisfaction even more. If I had to mention anything, aside from the person who first assisted us and the staff member who served us at dinner, some others—while doing their best—seemed inexperienced; also, the building felt somewhat like a retreat facility rather than having more distinctive character.

Last time, we stayed in January of last year. Even in the freezing cold, having a BBQ while sitting under the kotatsu on the balcony was so much fun. This time, we returned at the end of summer with our senior dog. It was the best season, and we fully enjoyed the black-water Onsen both indoors and in the large public bath. The staff’s greetings as we passed by, their willingness to help when we needed it, and the front desk team’s smiles and efficient guidance were even more pleasant than before. The thorough cleanliness may also be thanks to considerate guests… Wherever you go, you can truly feel how comfortable it is. This Accommodation keeps evolving for the better every day, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit.

Thank you for taking care of us again in a Room with an open-air bath. The Room has beds, and at the back there is a spacious armchair where you can sit and relax while looking out at the garden. I was able to unwind there, enjoying tea and reading quietly. With the beds, it was also easy to lie down and rest right away, which gave me a reassuring sense of comfort. Last time we stayed over New Year’s with family, but this time it was wonderful to enjoy the garden as it shifted from summer into autumn while soaking in the open-air bath in the Room. Sanraku is also well known for its baths; in particular, the open-air baths are highly recommended, as you can feel even the natural breeze and soak amid beautiful mountain scenery. As for the cuisine, there has been a change of head chef, bringing a fresh new approach. While maintaining Sanraku’s original attentive Japanese cuisine that highlights seasonal ingredients, I could sense new ideas being introduced. Dishes were served freshly prepared, and it felt clear that great care is taken so guests never grow tired of what is offered. Our attendant provided detailed explanations of each dish and showed wonderful hospitality. An attendant who had looked after us previously also took the time to speak with us. The front desk and welcoming staff remembered our previous stay as well, making this an Onsen Ryokan where you can truly relax with peace of mind. I sincerely hope that such a hospitable Japanese Ryokan will continue its history for many years to come. As an IKYU Diamond member benefit, we received half a bottle of wine as well as shopping vouchers—great value tickets that could be used both for drinks at meals and for souvenirs. This is a Ryokan I would love to visit again.

We stayed in a detached guest room with an open-air bath, and the Facility, bath, hospitality, and meals were all excellent. The Japanese garden is also beautifully maintained—truly an outstanding Accommodation. It is well worth spending a little extra to stay here.

Although we only stayed for just under six hours on a day trip this time, it was a soothing space where we could relax and feel refreshed after a long time. The full-course kaiseki dinner was beautifully presented with a seasonal touch and was absolutely delicious. Next time, we would definitely like to return for an overnight stay.

From check-in to the room, everything went smoothly, and the Onsen, coffee, newspapers, breakfast, and parking were all free. There were also plenty of dinner options at the places you recommended, and we were very satisfied. We’ll be switching from other Business Hotels! During our 2-night, 3-day stay, we were able to truly relax both body and mind. Since we live in Saitama and this is Kagoshima, we can’t visit often, but we would definitely love to return. From the warm welcome to the delicious dinner… the treats of shochu and fireworks… I’m still thinking about how best to describe how wonderful it all was. The food was never flashy; instead, it was carefully prepared using freshly harvested vegetables and local fish and meat, and it felt as if I was becoming healthier from the inside out. Simply delicious! You can also feel the attention given to the tableware and presentation. The hot spring water… without a doubt, it was outstanding. We also felt completely at ease in our Room. Above all, we could sense kindness and care in every detail. The message written on a beautiful leaf, and the rice balls and rolled omelet you gave us to take when going out or returning—both were heartwarming and delicious. Thank you very much. Your warm hospitality—while maintaining just the right distance for each guest—was excellent in every way. This Accommodation reminded us of a gentle kindness that daily busyness had made us forget. Lastly… we hope that adorable pair of chickens stays healthy for a long time. Thank you for such wonderful memories. We would love to visit again for sure.

The local cuisine was excellent—quite different from the typical tempura or branded beef often found at a Ryokan. There was a wide variety of dishes, and the delicate Japanese seasoning was well received even by my elderly mother. We were also impressed by the thickness of the matsutake mushrooms. After dinner, the traditional Japanese house across from the Accommodation was opened as a lounge, where we could enjoy complimentary self-serve wine, snacks, and coffee. We stayed in a detached annex. Although it looked old from the outside, the interior had been renovated in a modern style with low beds and Ryukyu tatami mats, making it very comfortable. The 800-year-old zelkova tree in the garden (as we were told by staff) was magnificent. The Onsen is free-flowing from its natural source. Perhaps because it was a weekday, there was no need for a Reservation for the private baths and no time limit, so my mother and I could relax at our own pace. My brother also tried both baths and said he didn’t encounter any other guests—it felt completely private. The water is clear with no strong characteristics; at 42°C without added water, it seems ideal for long soaks. However, it was disappointing that soap and shampoo are not allowed in the open-air bath attached to the Room—presumably for environmental reasons—so we could only use it briefly. As for service: there were hardly any staff around reception or near the entrance area, and even the lounge across the street was unattended. With limited staff who seemed busy, there were no lengthy explanations of meal courses or stories about this Accommodation unless you asked. When we did ask questions, they responded politely and kindly with no issues in service overall; however, guests who enjoy conversation with staff or more personal hospitality may find it lacking. Our family prefers unobtrusive service where we’re left to ourselves, so this Accommodation suited us very well. We would like to stay again.

Thank you for hosting us for one night starting August 13. Although the weather was unfortunate, we could really feel the attentive support from your staff—from guiding us in the parking lot upon arrival at the Hotel to check-in. Before dinner, we used the private bath to recover from our long trip. It was great that no Reservation was required, there were many types of tubs, and the water temperature was just right. After the bath, my skin felt smooth and silky, which made me feel wonderful. We were very happy that it was all-inclusive. The beer after the bath was amazing. For dinner’s kaiseki course, I chose beef tongue shabu-shabu; both the portion and flavor were outstanding. The gentleman who assisted us at the restaurant had exceptionally polite and wonderful manners. I was born and raised in Sendai, but I have lived away from my hometown for a long time now. Miyagi rice is something we can proudly boast about to The whole country. We enjoyed it very much. The eggplant miso at breakfast reminded me of my mother’s cooking. I had known since childhood that Naruko has many Accommodations, but I’m truly glad we stayed at Naruko Kanko Hotel. We would love to visit again. Thank you very much for everything.

I’m so glad I was lucky enough to get a Reservation at the Accommodation I’d been hoping to stay at when visiting Shodoshima! Thank you for emailing me in advance to confirm that my stay date fell on your Children’s Day, and for your very attentive support even before we arrived. The meals were excellent—we enjoyed plenty of Shodoshima’s local vegetables and fish, and we were completely satisfied. Thank you as well for the careful explanations of each dish and for adding a final message. The Onsen was private and wonderful. It was a shame that our timing didn’t work out, and in the end we couldn’t use one of them no matter when we checked… I also really appreciated the free drink service. We were too full to try the homemade fruit drinks or alcohol, so next time I’d like to come with more time (and room in my stomach), haha. Breakfast was delicious too—I finished everything! It was fun chatting about wanting to go to live shows, haha. I hope you enjoy your private time as well, so you can do even more wonderful work. One small thing: I wish the blind on the Room bathroom window could be adjusted. It felt like it might be visible from outside… haha Other than that, it was an incredibly relaxing space—perfect. Shodoshima is such a wonderful place. I’ll be back!

We stayed as a family of three. The Onsen was wonderful—smooth and silky, a truly great Onsen. The meals were also excellent. We chose the course with sukiyaki. Everything—sukiyaki, sashimi, tempura, miso-grilled chicken, and more—was carefully prepared and delicious. Breakfast was served in a different dining area filled with morning sunlight, and it was just as tasty. The building was very clean, the Room was spacious and spotless, hot water and cold water were provided, and the futon was very comfortable. Everyone at the Accommodation was kind and attentive, so we had a great time. It’s an Accommodation we would definitely like to stay at again.
