I stayed here as a birthday gift for my sister. We were amazed the moment we entered the Room—not only did you prepare a Room with a view of the five-story pagoda, but you also gifted us sparkling wine to celebrate. My sister was absolutely thrilled. In the lounge, we enjoyed a wide variety of drinks and alcohol, along with visually stunning sweets and carefully crafted dishes. At night, we dined at the rooftop bar while taking in Kyoto’s night views. For breakfast, I chose a conger eel hot pot—something rare for a Hotel breakfast—and truly savored Kyoto’s summer flavors. We were also able to visit Kiyomizu-dera early in the morning when it was quiet and uncrowded, which made us very happy. It seems it became a wonderful memory for my sister as well. I stayed at this Hotel for the first time after wanting to for a long time. I stayed in a Room with a terrace, and it was spacious enough to relax comfortably on the terrace or sofa. The Room was also kept very clean, which I was happy with. Breakfast was delicious as well. I would like to stay again.

I was finally able to stay at Hotel Granvia, which I had long hoped to do, and I was very satisfied. Because of the heavy rain, I wasn’t sure if I could make it, but I arrived safely and was shown to my Room. It was an upgraded Room with a view of Kyoto Tower. Champagne and dinner in the Room, a whole cake, and a Japanese breakfast in the morning—everything was worth more than the price. The service was excellent!! With the perk of a 24-hour stay, this has become one Hotel I definitely want to stay at again next time I’m here. Thank you for taking such good care of me—I truly appreciate it.

This was my 8th stay at the FAUCHON Hotel Kyoto—my absolute favorite in Kyoto, which I love so much. I was visiting Kyoto for a friend’s grand opening celebration, and at the perfect time I received a birthday coupon from the FAUCHON spa. So I decided, “Let’s treat myself to a special birthday FAUCHON hotel stay!” I planned it with excitement—booking the towel cake I’d seen on Instagram and in Reviews on IKYU.com for the first time, along with the spa’s pink bubble bath that had made me unbelievably happy before. It was my third time staying in an East Higashiyama-view FAUCHON Suite, but the sofa and table layout had changed. The moment I entered the room, I couldn’t help cheering at how adorable the towel cake was—I took tons of photos and enjoyed it to the fullest! The handwritten “Happy Birthday” message on my key card, and the illustrated birthday card placed with the towel cake, became precious keepsakes that I brought home as treasured memories. The cute hand-drawn illustrations on both the full-length mirror and bathroom mirror also made me feel endlessly happy every time I saw them. I’m truly glad I chose to spend my birthday hotel stay in a FAUCHON Suite! Since my Plan included lounge access, I spaced it out from my spa appointment and enjoyed an early dinner and drinks. Along with my favorite champagne and umeshu, after enjoying the Shigaraki-ware bathtub in my room once, I topped up fluids and sugar with cola and sweets before heading to the spa. Even for the pink bubble bath at the spa—which I had been looking forward to so much—they prepared another towel cake with a heart. After having my tired feet massaged, I returned straight to my bed in the room and instantly fell asleep—I was blissfully happy beyond words. The next morning, I woke naturally before 4:00 a.m., watched dawn during magic hour, wrote myself a birthday card using one of the room postcards (and mailed it at a postbox at the end of my trip), enjoyed tea and coffee, and savored that Higashiyama view from by-the-window table. The steamed breakfast served in bamboo steamers at restaurant breakfast, as well as a birthday message cake after checkout—and even iced tea brewed by Grandy Master—everything was delicious. It was simply amazing. After buying souvenirs, even tag message attached to tote bag when they stored luggage were adorable too. Until leaving The FAUCHON Hotel Kyoto at last , this is best lingering feeling remained; It was best-ever FAUCHON hotel stay of mine! Kyoto offers many different ways to enjoy your stay depending on the area you choose and the character of each Hotel. This was my first time staying at this Hotel, and it is in a very convenient location just a short distance from Shijo-Karasuma, which can be considered the center of downtown Kyoto. It’s only a few minutes’ walk from the station whether you arrive by Hankyu Railway or the subway. Nearby are places like Goodman Roaster Kyoto and Unzen, as well as many wonderful cafes and coffee shops that have opened over the past few years—just visiting them is enjoyable in itself. Ogaki Shoten (Main Store), with its large and unique selection of magazines and books, is also close by, and Daimaru is within walking distance. There are also grocery supermarkets such as Fresco and Moritaya right nearby, making this a great area for spending time as if you live in Kyoto. Since the Hotel opened in 2019, both the Facilities and Room interiors still feel new and were very comfortable. The Room I stayed in wasn’t particularly large, but the layout was well designed so it didn’t feel cramped. It had a comfortable bed and a fairly large sofa, and the bathroom had a spacious bathtub, which made my stay very relaxing. I stayed on the 4th floor this time, and the view from the window wasn’t great due to nearby apartment buildings; however, that’s common for Hotels in central Kyoto and can’t really be helped. With that in mind, I felt it might even be fine to choose a Room on a lower floor. Breakfast didn’t have an especially wide variety of items, but everything gave me the impression of being properly prepared. I especially liked the large-bean natto. The staff at both reception and breakfast were very polite yet friendly. Overall, I found this to be a very satisfying Hotel. I was impressed that they maintain this level of service at this price point. In Kyoto I usually make hotels around City Hall or west of the Imperial Palace my regular choices, but I would like to add this Hotel to that list as well. Thank you again—I look forward to staying here again.

We stay here every year when visiting family graves. It is directly connected to the station, and the Shinkansen exit is close, which is very convenient. Since it has a train view, it’s perfect for children and train lovers. Even if you forget to buy something, there are plenty of shops so you won’t have any trouble. The Room is compact but clean.

Even though I’ve walked along Teramachi Street many times, I never noticed this Hotel. It’s also very close to Sanjo Keihan, and it was easy to get there even in the extreme heat because I could walk through the covered shopping arcade. There’s a 7-Eleven downstairs, so there was no trouble at all with shopping or meals. The Room is compact but very functional, and I love that the bath and toilet are separate. The bathroom has a washing area and even a chair—everything you could ask for. There’s also drink service, and many international guests stay here; it seems everyone really appreciates the coin laundry. It’s also convenient for accessing the Tozai Subway Line, which helped me a lot on this trip. Despite all these services, the price is very reasonable. This may become my regular place to stay. Breakfast included eel, so I got a great nutritional boost first thing in the morning. And amazingly, there was an automatic rice dispenser where you press a button and it serves exactly the amount you choose—so impressive. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

I’ve stayed here several times since it opened (either solo or as a couple). This time, I booked without hesitation because I was going to see a play at Minamiza. It’s less than a 10-minute walk straight there. It was my first time staying in this Room type, and it was clean and efficiently laid out. The bathroom had a separate washing area and was very comfortable. Breakfast offered a good selection, and everything tasted great. I also used the lounge drinks service several times with no complaints at all. On top of that, the price this time was an excellent deal—so I’d give it a perfect score. It was quite hot outside, but another big plus is that once you go underground, you can get all the way to Kawaramachi Station without going back outside. I’d like to keep staying here in the future—thank you very much.

Whenever I visit Kyoto, I always stay at this Hotel. I’ve lost count of how many times it’s been. Once again, the consistently warm hospitality allowed me to spend a truly relaxing time. The only disappointment was that parking is now charged. I suppose it was surprising that it had been free for guests in that location until now (laugh), and I really appreciated it. I know it may be difficult, but I can’t help hoping it might come back again someday. Thank you again for taking such good care of me this time as well. Thank you.

The courteous service left the most lasting impression. In addition to the excellent location, the facility was well-maintained, clean, and comfortable. The amenity bar offered a wide variety of items, including cooling foot sheets and face packs, which were much appreciated. Complimentary coffee was available on the front desk floor. With traditional Japanese elements like tatami mats and shoji screens as part of the interior design, many guests were foreigners (mainly Westerners). During my stay, I heard more English than Japanese, which added a travel-like atmosphere even though I stayed for practical purposes. It was a hotel I would love to use again. Thank you very much!

I stayed at the Property to attend a live performance by my favorite artist at the nearby ROHM Theatre. Since it was Kyoto, I decided on this place based on my own image, and it was the perfect choice! On the day of my stay, the exterior was under construction, so I couldn't fully enjoy the wonderful appearance of the building. However, the owner, who was very considerate about this, turned out to be a lovely person. The interior was filled with a retro Showa-era vibe, and I had a fantastic two-day stay. The location was excellent, being close to the ROHM Theatre, and within walking distance of both Sanjo Station and Gion-Shijo Station. There was a Goemon bath, but since it was cold that day, I decided not to use it. If I had been able to, it would have made for another great memory. If I have the chance, I would love to stay here again. At the nearby Honzan Yohoji Temple, a pair of ducks live there, and I heard that in spring, you can even see the ducklings moving to a new home.

I had a wonderful time with my grandchild. I truly appreciated the thoughtful care of the staff.

We stayed as a family on New Year's Eve to escape the year-end hustle and bustle. The small hall was crowded with guests, but the front desk staff and attendants welcomed us warmly with smiles. The room was not very spacious but was clean and comfortable, equipped with coffee and mineral water. The silver shiny walls, full-length mirror closet doors, and compact yet renovated bathroom showed thoughtful design throughout. Although the public bath wasn't very large, I had perfect timing to enjoy it all to myself, which made me very satisfied. However, it might feel cramped during busy hours. The women's colorful yukata were stylishly designed, while the alphabet-printed yukata for general use featured vibrant colors and patterns that added a cheerful touch—especially contrasting against men's typically darker attire—enhancing the travel experience's charm. Meals were served in our room; dinner was flavorful and delicious. On New Year's morning, we enjoyed traditional osechi breakfast along with otoso (spiced sake), poured in order starting from younger guests as per custom—a refreshing moment to start anew. It was my first time trying Kyoto-style white miso soup with round mochi for ozoni; it marked a wonderful beginning to Reiwa Year 8. The location is excellent—just a short walk from Nishiki Market—with nearby sweets shops and cafes scattered around. Unfortunately, many stores seemed closed on New Year's Day itself. Surprisingly enough though, we couldn't hear any temple bells ringing at midnight but managed to sleep soundly right after welcoming the new year. While Kyoto has many hotels available, staying at a ryokan truly offers an exceptional experience!
