I felt this was a historic and luxurious Ryokan. I was especially amazed by the splendid, ornate convention hall where we had dinner and breakfast. The building itself feels like it has withstood many years of harsh weather, yet you can still sense its former grandeur. From the Room, we could enjoy a panoramic view of the vast Pacific’s rough waves and the cliffs of the Izura Coast that seem to carry thousands of years of history—it truly made me glad we came. That said, there were a few points that concerned us. The Room is based on a traditional Japanese-style layout with thoughtful touches for usability, but there is a large step between the tatami area and the space with the sofa set, so those like us with knee and lower-back issues need to be very careful. Also, because the entire Room temperature is controlled by an air conditioner in the tatami room, it felt difficult to adjust the temperature in the bedroom farther away. While many Ryokan have become increasingly digital recently, there were no complicated digital devices here, which actually made things easier for us to use. When we bought souvenirs at the shop and asked for shipping delivery service , we were told that shipping fees could only be paid in cash and that charging it to our Room was not accepted. We weren’t carrying cash, so we had no choice but to take everything home ourselves. There seemed to be various explanations given, but since this is something commonly available elsewhere, I hope you will consider improving this point. We really loved the meals. Many locally sourced ingredients were used, and every dish was deliciously prepared. In particular, the grilled dancing abalone was outstanding in freshness, size,, tenderness,,and flavor—everything about it was excellent.. The simmered red fish and shabu-shabu hot pot also had slightly richer,, sweeter seasoning that perfectly matched my taste.. I also enjoyed their unique breakfast dish where grilled mackerel is warmed in a small pot before eating.. The timing of serving each course was excellent as well,, allowing us to savor every dish one by one.. For access to public bath , walking down long covered wooden corridor from lobby lined on both sides with large glass windows felt open airy enjoyable . It was great bath experience . I don’t think there were any guest survey forms provided , but I thought it impressive how hostess visited tables during dinner greeting guests listening opinions naturally through conversation . All staff left good impression . The driver who took us station on departure day drove safely which appreciated . Thank you very much for your hospitality .

In many ways, an easy-to-use Hotel.

This Accommodation made me wish I could have extended my stay if I hadn’t had work the next day. From the parking guidance on arrival through to check-out, we received warm and pleasant hospitality. As it is a Ryokan with only a few Rooms, it felt very private, and we hardly ever shared the Onsen with other guests. It was a wonderful escape from everyday life and left us feeling refreshed. We would love to visit again.

This was my second stay. I visited with my parents, the three of us. The bath is on the small side, but the Onsen water quality is excellent—personally, I think it’s far better than most Onsen. Meals were the highlight for me, and the cuisine here is outstanding, on par with kaiseki in Tokyo. With plenty of seasonal ingredients, everything tastes wonderful and you can truly enjoy each dish. It was a very relaxing one-night, two-day stay.

We stayed in one of the few Rooms with a private open-air Onsen bath. The interior was very stylish and lovely! Because it’s not a large Facility, we rarely ran into other guests. The staff were also very friendly and made us feel at home. The meals were more than satisfying for us as a couple, and hot dishes were served at just the right time so they wouldn’t cool down. We’ve visited many Onsens, but the milky Onsen here felt so wonderful that we’d love to soak in it again. We were truly impressed to have found such an excellent Accommodation where we could fully enjoy the Onsen!

I stayed here with my daughter on a trip to Yamaguchi. We drove from Shin-Shimonoseki to the Ryokan by rental car. Right after arriving, we enjoyed the footbath, then the granite bath. After a walk around, we returned to the Ryokan for the open-air bath. After dinner, we used the bath in our Room. In the morning, we went to the hinoki-wood bath. After breakfast, we used the Room bath again. We really enjoyed all the Onsen. It may just have been how I felt, but when I woke up in the morning my fingers weren’t stiff like usual—maybe it was an Onsen effect. The food was delicious, the riverside scenery was beautiful, and there were few tourists, so it felt like a hidden gem. The staff at this Ryokan were also very welcoming and made it feel homey. The building showed its age, but that gave it character. The only disappointment was that the air conditioner in our Room didn’t cool well and it was uncomfortable. Maybe it’s an older unit? Also, there was a musty smell in the Room (different from sulfur) that bothered me. Still, I’d like to visit again if I have another chance, and if friends ask me for recommendations for a good Onsen getaway, this is an Accommodation I’d suggest.

This was a lovely Ryokan with a nostalgic Showa-era charm, conveniently located near Ryotsu Port. True to its name, “Lakeside Accommodation,” Kamo Lake spread out right in front of us, and we enjoyed the wonderful views. Seagulls and cormorants floated calmly on the lake, making time feel as if it were moving more slowly. The rooftop open-air observation bath had smooth, amber-colored water that wasn’t too hot, so we could soak for a long time and enjoy the luxury of gazing absentmindedly at the lake and sky. Our Room was upgraded, so it was much more spacious than expected—quiet and very comfortable. We enjoyed Sado’s local seafood and meat for both dinner and breakfast. We especially loved the abalone and Okesa persimmons, and we even bought Okesa persimmon sorbet as a souvenir. We don’t often get the chance to visit Sado, but if we have another opportunity, we would definitely like to stay here again.

Rather than just being near Miho no Matsubara, it felt like there was a Ryokan right within it. You can easily take a walk to Miho no Matsubara and the beach. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, and we enjoyed the scent of hinoki in the in-room bath. If I have the chance, I would like to stay again.

This was my third stay. Each time, I have stayed in a Japanese-Western style room with an open-air bath. The spacious in-room open-air bath is large enough for four people, and you can enjoy the golden hot spring water. There is also a shower room, and I feel the price is very reasonable. The service was courteous, and the front desk staff at check-in were especially friendly, with a bright smile that left a great impression. Also, the restaurant staff member from overseas spoke excellent Japanese and carefully cleared empty dishes without making noise. I have stayed at about four Itoen Hotels, but this Grand Hotel is my favorite. I will make another Reservation.

We stayed as three generations—parents and adult children. The sunset from the Room was truly beautiful, and we enjoyed the contrast between the sea and the setting sun. Every dish was delicious, and the portions were generous—we left completely full. Breakfast also featured many local specialties with a wide variety, so we ended up eating too much in the morning. The Room was kept clean and well maintained, and we never felt uncomfortable. The bath also offered a panoramic view of the sea, and we enjoyed it many times. One small downside—if I had to mention something—was that one of the locker doors in the changing room wouldn’t stay open (it wouldn’t hold in place when opened and would close on its own). Everyone at the front desk and in the restaurant was very kind, allowing us to spend our trip comfortably. It’s a Hotel we would definitely like to stay at again if we have the chance. A relaxing accommodation located at the foot of Mt. Sanbe with a fantastic location. The price is reasonable, offering great satisfaction. The meals are diverse and exceptionally delicious. If given the chance, I would love to stay at this accommodation again. Thank you!

I stayed here to watch Gujo Odori. The lobby and shared Facility had a retro Showa-era vibe, but everything felt clean, and the Room had been newly and stylishly renovated. There is no large public bath. It was a bit inconvenient that there was no door between the toilet and the washbasin area. The Shuttle Service by minibus to near the Gujo Odori venue was very convenient. Breakfast starts early, and checkout is also early at 10:00, which may be typical for an old-fashioned Hotel, but it did feel a little rushed. Thank you very much.

All staff were very kind. We had a great time. The view from our third-floor Room was excellent, and the meals were delicious.

The larger bed made my stay very comfortable. I’d like to stay here again.

As a self-employed person, it’s hard for me to take time off, but I was finally able to bring my elderly mother—who had been saying for so long that she wanted to visit an Onsen—for a one-night stay. I chose this Accommodation after reading Reviews, hoping we could relax more than at a large Hotel. Since we stayed on a weekday at the end of summer, the rooms were only about half occupied, which was also nice. The staff were all smiling and pleasant. We checked in early and enjoyed the Onsen before dinner. Dinner was served in private dining rooms with table seating. There were many dishes, but each portion was small enough to enjoy comfortably; everything was served warm at just the right pace, and the flavors and seasoning were perfect—we were very satisfied. The timing worked out well for the Onsen too, so we hardly ran into other guests and could take our time in both the indoor bath and the open-air bath. Staying during the autumn foliage season may be difficult due to crowds, but my mother said she definitely wants me to bring her again.

Choose a Hotel near the cable car entrance to the Alpine Route—it's surprisingly close, so we were able to depart at a relaxed pace.

Our couple in our 50s stayed for one night with our child’s couple in their 20s and our dog. The Room was spacious and pleasantly nostalgic, with a well-equipped kitchen, and the bathroom and toilet were spotlessly clean. The amenities were comparable to a Hotel. The staff were courteous, and we were able to relax completely. Since this Accommodation has no TV, it’s perfect for a digital detox! We wanted to do so many things—fireworks, stargazing, calligraphy—but ran out of time and left wishing we could have done more. This is an Accommodation meant for enjoying your time on-site. The stairs are quite steep, with the bedroom on the second floor and only one toilet on the first floor, which felt a bit risky for elderly guests or those with small children—so we rated only the Facility/equipment category as 4.

At first, the entrance felt quiet and almost lonely, but it seems the Accommodation is designed so guests don’t often cross paths; once you get used to it, it’s very comfortable. The baths were great, and the meals were excellent—showing the chef’s attention to detail and offering a wide variety of dishes. All of this was made possible by the warm hospitality of every staff member. It was a wonderful Accommodation.

The Facility has been renovated and is very well cleaned, with no pet odors or stains. The meals were delicious, and since it was a weekday there were few other guests, so we could relax without worrying. All the staff were kind, and we were touched to receive an illustration of our pet. They even saw us off until we were out of sight when we left, which made us want to come again. Weekdays are recommended! Thank you very much.

As it was summer vacation, it was much more crowded than last time. Even so, the staff were very courteous and helpful. I wish the lounge had been open without a break, and I would have appreciated it if the large public bath had been available until 11:00 a.m. Guests can use the parking lot for up to 30 hours for 500 yen, so we left our car there after check-out, walked to Nagahama Port, and took the ferry to Chikubushima Island. We had a wonderful time. Thank you very much.
