This was my first stay, and I was very satisfied. The hotel and the room were both very clean and comfortable. The staff were always smiling, which made me feel cheerful. The shuttle service to Kanazawa Station and the hotel’s dedicated lockers near the station were very convenient.

I stayed for one night with my parents. The room was very spacious and stylish, yet it felt calm and relaxing. We enjoyed the sauna and unwound in the large bath. The bed was wide and very comfortable. I had read in a Review that breakfast portions were small, but for older guests it was more than enough, and we really enjoyed the delicious freshly cooked rice. I would love to stay again.

How many times has it been now—another indulgent stay at Kasumi Onsen. Because my wife has a shellfish allergy, we avoid the Matsuba crab season, but during the spring and autumn Kasumi crab seasons we make a special request to have her crab portion replaced with nodoguro (blackthroat seaperch)—we’re truly demanding guests. I enjoy the crab, while my wife is served an unbelievably large nodoguro, perfectly grilled with salt (and I get to taste a bit of it too). Even though we’re asking for two different meals for two people, the staff not only welcome us with warm smiles, but also stop by for a chat when they have time and tell us about caring for their rice fields and plum trees. In short, while we’re here they let us do whatever we like freely—and whenever we need help, they come right away. As long as this hospitality continues, a stay at ICHIJO is guaranteed to be delicious, fun, and delightful. Top-quality ingredients, wonderful料理料理?

This was our 12th stay. It’s one of our favorite Accommodations as a couple. We love being able to relax in a quiet place with nothing around. The Room is spacious, clean, and comfortable. We would be happy if there were a small buffet, such as a salad bar, not only at breakfast but also at dinner. We had another very pleasant stay this time as well. We’d love to come again. A trip for a couple in our mid-60s: about 2 hours from Tokyo to Kanazawa by Shinkansen, then around a 15-minute walk from the station to the inn. From the warm and attentive welcome, we were served tea in the tea room before being shown to our room. The room was a modern 90 m² space. We were told that even the bathwater is brought in from a hot spring. For in-room dining, the kitchen is connected directly to the dining area in the room, so once everything was ready, we simply went there and enjoyed each dish. There was no need to move around at all, and we didn’t encounter other guests during our stay. We were truly impressed by the hospitality of all the staff. Nothing unpleasant at all—just a wonderfully happy stay. The next day, we walked to Kenrokuen Garden and Higashi Chaya District for sightseeing, then headed home from Kanazawa Station. Our only request: there were so many dishes that it was difficult to finish everything, and it was hard to pace ourselves without knowing how far along we were—so if possible, we would be happy to receive a menu after the meal as well. This time, I stayed for the fourth time to celebrate my birthday. I truly love this inn so much that I once gifted a stay here to my parents as well. The greatest pleasure of visiting is, without a doubt, the cuisine. Each dish is beautiful to look at and absolutely outstanding in flavor, and I’m moved every single time. Even my husband, who usually isn’t very interested in food, ends up saying “It’s delicious—this makes me want another drink,” and drinks a little too much (laugh). No matter how many times we come, it always makes us want to return just to enjoy these meals again. Since it was my birthday, they even arranged a wonderful celebration during dinner. The gorgeous presentation with gold flakes is apparently usually served with alcohol, but since I’m not great with alcohol they kindly prepared it with orange juice instead (first photo). They also gave me a celebratory gift and a commemorative photo—such warm thoughtfulness truly made me happy. And breakfast is exceptional as well. Not only dinner but breakfast is genuinely delicious; every time we are completely satisfied with every dish. Of course, everything beyond the food is wonderful too. The room is spotless and beautiful down to every detail, making it extremely comfortable. The room also has an open-air bath, which we love because we can relax and enjoy the hot spring together at any time without worrying about anyone around us. Meals are served at the same counter as other guests, but partitions are set between seats. Outside of meal times there are few chances to run into other guests, which makes it especially appealing for us to quietly enjoy unhurried time as a couple. All of the staff are always courteous, and thanks to their pleasant hospitality we can spend our entire stay feeling calm and relaxed. The cuisine, the room, and the hospitality—everything is excellent. It never disappoints no matter how many times we visit. Once again this birthday became an unforgettable and happy experience for me. I’m truly looking forward to returning. Thank you always.

We stayed here on the first night of our 4-night, 5-day trip to Toyama to celebrate my mother’s 88th birthday—Toyama is her favorite place. There were three of us (mother and daughters), and since we don’t eat large portions, we were worried about whether we could finish a full auberge course meal. We contacted them in advance, and they kindly discussed various options with us. In the end, my mother was thrilled—she even finished not only her share but mine as well, enjoying crab that had just come into season. Every dish showcased outstanding craftsmanship, and we enjoyed the food served on beautiful tableware passed down through generations from the owner’s father and grandfather. They also prepared an 88th-birthday red vest (chanchanko) and hat for her, and the photos we took are a wonderful keepsake. The glass-walled bath with its breathtaking view was amazing, and thanks to their carefully chosen bedding, we slept very comfortably. It was satisfying in every way beyond just the cuisine. The owners are a truly warm and lovely couple, and it felt like the entire auberge was wrapped in that welcoming atmosphere.

We stayed in a river-view room with a private open-air bath. Everything was outstanding, from the hospitality, open-air bath, and meals to the view from the room, the fresh air and scents, cleanliness, and safety. We have often stayed at hotels in the past, but this ryokan helped us rediscover the unique charm of a traditional Japanese inn. It was a wonderful stay where we could truly relax. We would love to visit again.

I stayed here for a concert trip this time. Because of the concert end time and traffic, I didn’t arrive until 9:00 PM, and I ended up getting to dinner very late, but you welcomed me with a smile and I had a wonderful time. Breakfast was also delicious, and since I had some time before checkout, I was able to take a walk in Kenrokuen Garden across the street. The location is excellent, and above all, every staff member was smiling and seemed genuinely happy—I would definitely like to stay here again the next time I visit Kanazawa. We’re repeat guests for the cats, delicious food, and the cozy comfort of having everything you need right in the Room. This time my husband came with us too. The kids were thrilled with the maisonette and the open-air bath. We also love the skincare amenities such as lotion—they’re from a brand we like. We were so happy to finally spend time with the cats again. Since this was our first summer stay, we were told, “You might find stag beetles on the balcony,” and there were so many (surprisingly)! We took some home and are taking good care of them. Thank you for all your thoughtful consideration. Dinner was served at perfect timing—hot dishes hot and cold dishes cold—and my husband really enjoyed how delicious everything was. For breakfast we chose Japanese this time; the clay-pot rice selected by a rice meister was outstanding. Our child asked for seconds again and again. Everything was perfect except that the children’s pajamas we borrowed felt smaller than expected for their size. Thank you as always for your warm welcome—it made for an amazing start to our summer vacation. We’d love to come back again.

From the outside it is a simple Western-style building, but once you step inside, it feels grand and luxurious. The location is excellent: Lake Suwa spreads out right in front of you, and every room comes with its own open-air hot spring bath with free-flowing natural spring water. The water quality is wonderful, and every carefully selected furnishing is of exceptional quality. I also appreciated the in-room massage chair, and the coffee setup was great—you can grind the beans yourself and brew a delicious cup while enjoying the aroma. I worried that such a fluffy bed might hurt my back, but it was truly comfortable. The feather pillow was perfect as well; I slept soundly and woke up refreshed the next morning. With your stay, you also receive complimentary bathing tickets for Katakurakan. In addition, there are free-flow drinks available in the 3rd-floor lounge—soft drinks, rooibos tea, and even wine (just a tasting portion). Dinner can be enjoyed as a full course meal, and they selected local wines for pairing; it was an outstanding experience. I was also touched when the chef came to greet us personally. They were very flexible with the course menu as well—we were able to choose different courses for each of us, which really showed how accommodating this hotel is. Car-wash service—which has disappeared at many places—is still offered here, which impressed me again. Seeing my car polished to a shine the next morning genuinely made me happy. I have stayed at many renowned hotels and ryokan over the years, but receiving this level of service at this price point makes this an easy choice for my go-to hotel from now on. There are so many more memorable moments that I could not possibly write them all here—but I hope everyone experiences it for themselves and discovers what makes this hotel so special. I’ve stayed at many ryokan and hotels, but this was the number one property for me. The baths were spotless and felt very clean. The amenities also showed thoughtful attention to detail. The meals were delicious, and the staff were polite, attentive, and very kind. It was one of the few places that truly made me want to come back again.

This was my second stay at this Hotel, and once again everything was perfect. The hospitality is outstanding, and every member of the staff is truly impeccable. The interior design is tasteful, the meals are delicious, and I highly recommend this Hotel. Having lived abroad for many years and stayed at many top-class Hotels around the world, Kinugawa Kanaya Hotel is one of my favorites.

I was truly comforted by the General Manager’s thoughtfulness and the warm hospitality of all the staff. Thank you very much. The only disappointment was at checkout: I purchased two packs of seaweed salt that I had enjoyed with my meal as souvenirs, and they were bagged for me, but ginger miso was inside instead. It was my fault for not checking the contents, but I only noticed when I got home and opened the bag, hoping to enjoy the seaweed salt and relive the wonderful meal.

It was truly a wonderful stay. Both breakfast and dinner were outstanding and delicious, and because all of the several hot springs are private-reservation only, you can relax and enjoy them at your own pace. With the all-inclusive plan, you can have as much as you like of sake, local craft beer, whisky—pretty much any drink you can think of—along with light snacks. There were also oden and roasted sweet potatoes that I sadly couldn’t eat because dinner was so filling (and so good). Their hospitality really came through, with so many thoughtful touches that made me think, “Even this?” “There’s more?”—in the best way. What made me happiest most of all was how exceptional every staff member’s service was. Thanks to their warm welcome, I felt truly relaxed for the first time in a long while. Thank you very much for such a lovely time. I would love to visit again.

I was immediately captivated by the rural scenery from the Room. We stayed in a Room with an open-air bath, and we also used the private open-air bath. Every area was spotlessly cleaned, making it very pleasant. The in-Room amenities were thoughtfully prepared, and there was nothing missing—I felt you could arrive empty-handed and still enjoy a comfortable stay. I was especially impressed to find single-use packets of laundry detergent among the amenities; it really showed how considerate this Hotel is.

From the moment we arrived at the bus stop until we entered our room, we received truly first-class hospitality. After that, needless to say, we enjoyed a wonderful room, delicious cuisine, and relaxing hot springs. The staff were polished and professional, and it was clear that the in-house training is of a very high standard. The private open-air bath in the room was perfect for unwinding while looking out over the rural scenery, and it completely melted away our everyday fatigue. On the bus ride home, I was already thinking about when I could come back next. Thank you for such an exceptional and restful stay.

Although we arrived in rainy weather, we were warmly welcomed by many staff members, making for a wonderful start that almost felt more than we deserved. The building, designated as a Tangible Cultural Property, has a rich sense of history, yet it is meticulously maintained throughout, allowing us to relax in complete comfort. In addition to the pleasantly warm and soothing Onsen, the cuisine was truly outstanding. On departure, they even took a complimentary commemorative photo and later sent it to our home—such a thoughtful gesture that made this an unforgettable memory. Everything was exceptional, including the hospitality, and this is an Accommodation we would love to stay at again. Thank you very much.

The location was outstanding above all else. The in-room bath was an Onsen, and the view was so incredible that I could have stayed in it forever without wanting to leave. The Room was a perfect size and felt very clean. The meals were excellent, and I was very satisfied with both breakfast and dinner. There wasn’t any particular dress code inside the property, and it was fine to dine in loungewear, which made for a very relaxing stay. We joined the optional stargazing guide tour, but unfortunately Mt. Onidake—the planned observation spot—was covered by clouds so we couldn’t observe there. However, the guide quickly took us to another location, and we were able to see a wonderful starry sky. We enjoyed the Milky Way and summer constellations with the naked eye. The only disappointing thing was that there was a used tissue left in the pocket of the loungewear provided in our Room—apparently from a previous guest. I wonder if they didn’t check the pockets during cleaning… I also became curious about other Onko Chishin properties, so I went ahead and signed up for membership (lol).

There is no flashy reception area like a large ryokan, but you will be welcomed by a spacious stone bath in your room at a comfortable temperature. The water stays hot until check-out. Both dinner and breakfast are served dish by dish on beautiful Arita ware, each item carefully prepared with refined flavors. With fewer than about 10 rooms, this quiet seaside auberge is lovely—and one you will want to return to.
