This was my first stay here, and it felt far more fulfilling than you’d expect from just one night and two days. From the warm welcome on arrival, everything was handled with great care. The staff’s hospitality left a lasting impression, and throughout my stay they were attentive to even the smallest details. From start to finish—including the send-off at departure—I felt genuinely well looked after. Rather than feeling formal or scripted, it truly felt like each guest was treated as an individual. The Room had a calm, relaxing atmosphere, and best of all was the private open-air bath attached to the Room. Being able to soak in an Onsen at my own pace whenever I wanted was a special luxury, and it felt so good I wanted to go in again and again. Enjoying the open-air bath while taking in the garden and surrounding nature helped me forget everyday fatigue. The meals were also carefully prepared dish by dish—delicious not only in flavor, but also in presentation and seasonal touches. I enjoyed them so much that mealtime itself became one of the highlights of the trip. The overall atmosphere of the Ryokan is wonderful as well—quiet, serene, and naturally calming just by being there. Everything is beautifully maintained down to the smallest details, making it an ideal space for a true escape from daily life. Even though it was a short stay of one night and two days, by checkout I was surprised at how much lighter I felt both physically and mentally—I was able to fully recharge. This is a Ryokan that honestly makes you think, “I want to stay here again.” If you’re looking for Accommodation in Hakone, I highly recommend staying here at least once.

An Accommodation nestled in the Kasugayama Primeval Forest, about a 10-minute walk from Kasuga Taisha Shrine. This is an even older Accommodation than Nara Hotel, originally established as a venue to host the Governor of Nara Prefecture. I had a wonderful stay at this Accommodation. The building shows its age, but everything—from the floors to the private hinoki bath—was beautifully polished, whether waxed or wiped with rice bran, and it felt spotless and very pleasant. You can really see the steady care and effort of the staff. The highlight is the food. Every dish had an elegant, gentle flavor, and the pacing was calm and unhurried. The simmered dishes in particular were outstanding—I was truly impressed by their depth of flavor. We often hear about Kyoto kaiseki; perhaps this could be called Nara kaiseki. All staff members were attentive without being intrusive, thoughtful about small details, and consistently pleasant. Their teamwork also seemed excellent. A deer even greeted us near the entrance. If you don’t require full barrier-free access or a Room that looks brand-new above all else, this is an Accommodation I highly recommend.

We stayed here as a family. Inami is known as a mecca for traditional woodcarving artisans, and this Accommodation—renovated from an old kimono shop—perfectly matches the unique atmosphere of the town. Only one group per day. As others have commented, the Room, garden, and bath were all truly impeccable. What stood out most was the chef, who also served as our concierge. He was incredibly knowledgeable and taught us so much about the ingredients, the town’s history, and more. I was deeply moved by how learning about the cuisine and ingredients while dining made the meal even more extraordinary—it reminded me that food is also an encounter in itself. Thank you very much. Hearing about their experience after the Noto earthquake was heartbreaking, but we could also feel how people in Hokuriku are moving forward with determination. We would love to stay again.

I stayed here for sightseeing in Kanazawa. Although I took a bus from the station, it was a very convenient Hotel—Higashi Chaya District, the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, and plenty of lunch and dinner options were all within walking distance.\nIt was my first stay, but my friend who stayed with me chose it right away after saying, “Nono is recommended.” The Room was easy to use, clean, and I was very satisfied. The large public bath was also very clean.\nI also enjoyed the late-night soba and was extremely satisfied. Next time I’d like to try the buffet. I will definitely stay again, and I would love to recommend it to other friends as well.\nThank you very much for your hospitality.

I stayed in Room 103. The Room was very spacious, and the original traditional materials have been preserved, creating a wonderful, out-of-the-ordinary space where I could relax and unwind. The bath was also a hinoki cypress bath with a gentle cypress fragrance that was incredibly soothing. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, and the staff kindly explained the carefully selected Chichibu ingredients, which made the meal even more enjoyable. This is a Hotel I definitely want to stay at again!

As mentioned in the reviews, the staff at the accommodation were very considerate, and the accommodation itself, with its 100-year history, provided a relaxing and leisurely experience. Meals were served in the room with a variety of dishes, all of which were delicious. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed them. However, the "Sennin Bath" being mixed-gender made it uncomfortable for women to enter. As noted in reviews, there seemed to be men lingering near the entrance, which was disappointing. On the other hand, we appreciated being able to reserve a private bath that was spacious and enjoyable.

We chose this place because we wanted to travel as a couple before our baby is born. The view from the Room was truly one of a kind and very calming. The service was excellent, and they responded quickly to our requests, which was a great help. The meals were also delicious, and we were very satisfied. Receiving energy from the thousand-year-old olive tree, it was a wonderful trip that refreshed both body and mind. Thank you very much. This was my second stay. It was a Multiple Night Stay, and I really appreciated that complimentary water was included along with the replacement towels. Many places don’t offer that these days. The building was clean and comfortable to stay in. However, the hallway felt a bit too dark.

This was my second stay this year, and I visited with my mother. My mother is nearing her 88th birthday, but she still has a great appetite and finished everything, even having seconds from the rice tub. I visited long ago with my mother and grandmother as well, so I feel truly happy to have an Accommodation we can return to across three generations—my grandmother, my mother, and me. Unfortunately it rained this time, but thanks to that the signature stones and garden trees were gently wet, letting us enjoy a different kind of beautiful scenery than usual. Thank you again for your warm hospitality. I look forward to visiting again.

For our annual summer trip as a couple, we made a Reservation at this Accommodation, which we had long wanted to visit. Although the Accommodation is surrounded by the sea, it was calm with very little ocean scent, and the sea breeze felt fresh and pleasant. There are only four Rooms, and after researching in advance, we Reserved a Room close to the deck and the sea—exactly the location we loved. Inside, there was a faint woody aroma. With features like a raised tatami area and subtle variations in the wood grain flooring design, it was simple yet extremely comfortable. It’s a small detail, but I was also happy that they had a high-quality hair iron available. For activities, we tried SUP and the sunset cruise. Even though it was cloudy, it wasn’t too hot—which actually made it easier to enjoy both experiences fully. My husband also enjoyed listening to records on the audio system in the lobby (I think). We had planned to watch the stars by a bonfire after dinner, but unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate. However, one of the staff kindly prepared sparklers for us instead, and we were able to enjoy them quietly. The meals were course-style dishes that reflected glimpses of unique ideas from the local-born head chef. It was fun even imagining what would come next just from reading the menu. Everything was thoughtfully prepared and delicious; perhaps because of their background in Japanese cuisine as well, I found the dashi-based soup especially outstanding. Also, although everyone working in the kitchen seemed young, they created such a pleasant atmosphere—and each person appeared well trained in their specialty. It was a short trip, but we enjoyed an escape from everyday life and felt refreshed. I think we can go back to work with renewed energy. It was such a wonderful Accommodation that we’d love to return again in another season.

We stayed here for the first time to celebrate my husband’s birthday. The space was incredibly comfortable, and we’d love to come again. The welcome drink and baked treats won us over right away, and the Accommodation itself was wonderful. The sauna was available as much as we wanted from 6:00 to 22:00, and 90°C was just perfect. The cold bath water felt silky—you could tell it was rich in minerals and iron. There were plenty of towels, the herbal tea in the fridge was delicious, and the loungewear felt amazing on the skin. If I had to mention one thing, the OSAJI? amenities—toner and emulsion—had not been replenished. When I asked, I was told they weren’t available due to import circumstances, so it would have been even better if we had been informed in advance. (There’s a convenience store nearby, so we went to buy some.) The food was very tasty—especially the shabu-shabu and seafood, which were fresh and delicious. It did need a bit of reheating, but it was great being able to enjoy it indoors without worrying about others around us. Thank you very much. Next time we’d like to stay at hanare!

Thank you very much for everything. The staff welcomed us with smiles, and it was a wonderful Accommodation that made us feel warm from the very beginning. Although meals were served in a large hall, it still felt private like a private room. There was a wide variety of dishes, all delicious—we were very satisfied. We stayed in a Japanese-style Room in the main building; while it had a sense of history, it was spacious enough for three people and we spent our time comfortably. The large public bath was also spacious, and the open-air bath was excellent as well. A walk through the well-maintained garden was lovely too—the moss was beautiful. The value for money surprised us in the best way. We would love to visit again.

We stayed in a two-room suite with a view of the townscape roofed with Sekishu tiles. The view itself wasn’t great—more like looking at the neighboring house—but it was more than made up for by the hospitality and the food. This wasn’t typical Ryokan cuisine; the dishes were thoughtfully prepared using local ingredients. Hot items were served hot and freshly made. We stayed on the day of the fireworks festival before Obon. After taking a bath, we lay down until dinner, watching the sunset and listening to insects—it felt wonderful. We went to Yakushiyu before dinner, but it was hot while waiting there, and since the Accommodation’s bath was so good, we wished we had used the Accommodation’s bath in the evening and gone to Yakushiyu early in the morning instead. In the hallway, as part of their hospitality, there was a refrigerated case where each guest could choose one drink—beer, juice, or water. That made us happy. And about the fireworks: we expected a small rural display, but it kept going for nearly 30 minutes without getting boring—it was very well planned. We’d like to stay again around this time next year before Obon.

The staff were friendly, and the Room was clean and comfortable! This time as well, we enjoyed seasonal cocktails at B1F (Bar Anchor).

This was my third stay, and each time I leave thinking, “I’m glad I stayed here—I’ll come back.” It’s a Ryokan where the artwork in the lounge and the amenities in the guest rooms are all wonderful traditional tools that showcase Japanese craftsmanship, and I’m happy to discover different pieces each visit. I was a little worried after hearing the chef had changed, but it was completely unfounded—the flavors and menu were both excellent. Since we stayed the day after my birthday, they prepared a beautiful dessert plate for me. I was impressed by the skill of the young pastry chef. The wine pairing was also great. Breakfast was thoughtfully arranged as well, and I think I’ll always remember how delicious it was to grill Onomichi ingredients over a hibachi. Every member of staff is pleasant, and I truly appreciate how they stay close while keeping just the right distance. We’ll be back in winter—thank you in advance.

This was my second stay. The moment I stepped through the entrance, it felt like a different world. The meals were delicious, the staff’s hospitality and manners were excellent, and our Room was upgraded—everything was taken care of. I would love to stay again. Perhaps because we stayed on the Sunday after the Obon holidays, the price was very reasonable. It was close to the station, and the Room had a large sofa, so we could relax and enjoy our stay. If I had to mention one issue—partly because we hadn’t properly completed our Check Reservation—our booking was listed as one male and one female instead of two females. We informed staff at check-in, but the loungewear prepared in the Room remained set for a male and a female. Even if it wasn’t needed, I would have appreciated it being checked. (Since we didn’t notice until bath time, my daughter slept in her clothes for the next day.)

I stayed here on my first solo trip after turning fifty. Although I didn’t stay long, everything was thoughtfully taken care of and very comfortable. The breakfast buffet after a walk to Nanzen-ji Temple was especially wonderful. Thank you very much.

Although it was a stay at the end of summer, it became the perfect finale to our summer vacation. The Accommodation was spotless, the Room was spacious and comfortable, and the view of the Tenryu River from the Room was outstanding. The meals were also highly refined: themed as “Tenryukyo Jukyo,” inspired by “Tokachi” in Tenryukyo, they offered a richly satisfying course in both quality and quantity—from soba at the start to grilled eggplant, snow trout sashimi, broiled carp, ayu sweetfish, filet meat, and shiso sorbet. It rained on the day we stayed, but it held up somehow by the next morning, so we took about an hour’s walk along the river before breakfast. The scenery from the suspension bridge is an irreplaceable beauty. I felt this was an exceptional Accommodation in every respect—Facility, service, food, and location. Next time I would like to visit during the autumn foliage season.
