The Room was “Mangetsu.” There are four Rooms, with over 20 tatami mats across the main tatami area and the bedroom. With a total of over 97 m², it felt like a truly luxurious space. The furnishings and Room coordination were wonderful. The hinoki bath was very spacious, and because the added hot water was quite hot, we could soak without it cooling down. In the garden, there was even a discreet box with straw sandals inside, and there was an annex that remained closed—both adding to the atmosphere. Service: The front desk staff were kind. They accommodated two changes to our dinner plans. It was also fun hearing local stories. Meals: Breakfast was delicious. Dinner was at a local sushi restaurant. The grilled isaki (grunt fish) was plump and tasty, enjoyed together with its crispy skin. The sushi portions were very generous as well. If I had to ask for one thing, I would have liked a few more vegetable dishes.

We stayed for two nights, using this dog-first Accommodation as our base for exploring Shiga and Hyogo. The Room had a wonderful atmosphere, and even with five adults it didn’t feel cramped—we were able to relax comfortably. Having a convenience store right in front is very handy, but since the street out front has quite a bit of traffic, light sleepers may notice the noise. The bedroom was on the second floor, and the stairs were steeper than expected. With a small dog you can probably carry them up, but if you’re bringing a medium-sized or larger dog that sleeps with you upstairs, it might be a bit challenging. Our dog was happy relaxing downstairs, so it wasn’t an issue for us. We also wanted to visit “Juunintoiro” with our dog, but we ended up getting back late from watching the Inter-High games and couldn’t make it—such a shame. Next time we’d love to come in a cooler season, enjoy Omihachiman at a leisurely pace, and stop by Juunintoiro during our walk!

At the entrance, we were welcomed by motifs of Tentoki and Ryutoki. The stone garden “Yusentei,” Aizen Garden, and Tosentei were wonderful after the rain. The Onsen was natural, but unfortunately the open-air bath was too dark to see well. The carbonate spring bath was out of order and could not be used. The shojin-ryori (Buddhist vegetarian cuisine) was very delicious. The morning service was easy to join, which was nice. What was disappointing was that some guests speaking Chinese did not bring towels into the bath at all; they then left without drying off, leaving the floor soaked. They also brought canned beer and similar drinks into the shojin-ryori meal area to drink. In addition, they talked loudly on their phones with friends while using the Wi-Fi for a long time and seemed to take up most of the bandwidth, so it could not be used properly. The staff’s response was good; even if they were not Japanese, there were no problems as long as you spoke with them. Finally, I was surprised that the Room key is secured from inside with a simple latch/bolt. In terms of security, it felt like self-management is expected.

This is a private rental of a renovated traditional house, very spacious, and overall we had a comfortable stay. The bedroom was cozy, and the bathroom and vanity area were especially large, which made it convenient for two people to get ready at the same time. The lighting was bright and easy to use, insect control indoors was well handled, and we were able to use the Facility without any issues. When we consulted in advance about the check-in time, they kindly accommodated an earlier check-in, which was very helpful. There is also Shuttle Service available, making transportation very convenient. On the other hand, there are two points we would be happy to see improved. First is the height of some beams. For someone around 175 cm tall, a beam sits just above eye level, making it easy to miss—I hit my head several times. Since I hit it quite hard once, for safety it would be reassuring to have warning stickers or signs. Second, in the first-floor bedroom we could hear some road noise from passing cars at night. The second floor was relatively quiet, so those who are sensitive to noise may prefer sleeping upstairs. Other than that, everything was very comfortable and we enjoyed the unique atmosphere of a traditional house.

The other day, I had my annual “crab day” at Genmyoan again. This time they prepared Taiza crab for me, and I was able to enjoy it. It was three hours of satisfaction—satisfied, satisfied, truly satisfied. They do not serve hot pot dishes like “crab suki” here, and I agree that turning such great crab into a hot pot would be a waste. That is exactly why I keep choosing Genmyoan. They said it snowed quite a bit this year, but on my visit there was only a little snow left along the roadside. Genmyoan sits halfway up the mountain, and I believe it may be the only place with this kind of view looking down over Amanohashidate. The location is outstanding. As shown in the photos, being able to enjoy scenery that changes with time from your Room is very appealing. On the other hand, when it snows heavily, driving up the mountain road can be difficult. When I asked the proprietress this time, she told me that during severe snow they will come to pick guests up at Amanohashidate Station with rubber boots in the car. Being able to change into them at the station would be reassuring. (They provide Shuttle Service to the Accommodation regardless of snow.) Also, once you are past 70—even if it’s a once-a-year indulgent crab day—you may worry about not being able to finish everything. It seems they can adjust portions if you request in advance. If they can reduce the amount without compromising quality, you can keep enjoying it at any age. Because this relates to IKYU’s website meal listings and pricing, I do wonder how flexible such arrangements can be—but I would appreciate continued consideration for guests’ convenience. Lastly, their breakfast is also delicious: even when you feel you ate too much crab dinner-wise, you still end up overeating at breakfast. The Onsen has been refurbished and is clean. There is a tasting corner for chilled sake (you can sample and choose before dinner), and there is now a coffee room as well. There is also a room lined with CDs/DVDs/books from the owner’s personal collection; you can bring them back to your Room and enjoy them there. It feels like an Accommodation where each guest can find their own way to relax and have fun.

Thank you for taking care of me on my solo trip. I was looking for an Accommodation where I could quietly relax and fully enjoy the Onsen and meals, so I chose Jinpyokaku. Even though it was a hot season, there was plenty of greenery, and the Room was clean, quiet, and truly private. It was extremely comfortable. In particular, the in-room semi-open-air bath with free-flowing natural hot spring water available anytime was outstanding. On the charming walkway to the dining area, I felt soothed by the courtyard while listening to the evening cicadas— a nostalgic feeling that’s hard to put into words. Dinner was served in a private room, and every dish brought out the best of each ingredient—I even found myself thinking how delicious vegetables can be. The shabu-shabu was wonderful as expected, and the deep-fried cod coated with buckwheat groats was especially delicious. The portions were more than enough, and I also really enjoyed the local beer. Above all, what impressed me most was the heartfelt hospitality of all the staff. Their manners were impeccable—almost too perfect—and their thoughtful care made me feel truly grateful. I wanted to rest both mind and body, and I thoroughly enjoyed everything. Thank you very much.

Thanks to the Diamond member benefit allowing us to stay until 1:00 PM, we were able to relax and take our time. The amenities and drinks were well stocked, and everything was comfortable with no inconvenience. The bath had strong water pressure and filled up quickly, which was a nice plus since there was no stress from waiting. Breakfast was delivered to our Room, so we could enjoy it slowly without worrying about others. However, it tended to cool down a bit over time, so better heat retention would make it even nicer. Also, the table in the Room was a little low, making it slightly difficult to eat comfortably. Those were the only minor points—overall, it offered great value for money and we were very satisfied with our stay. We would definitely like to use it again.

Everything was excellent, including the surrounding environment. The staff and the proprietress were all impeccable in their hospitality. Thank you very much. We will visit again in November to see the autumn leaves.

We stayed here as a family. It was our first time staying on a remote island, but the owner welcomed us warmly from the moment we arrived, so we were able to start our stay with peace of mind. The seafood shabu-shabu we had for dinner was truly outstanding, and we were impressed by how fresh everything was. It felt like an island-only luxury. They also kindly recommended places to buy groceries and some cafés, which made our stay even more fulfilling. Rather than simply staying overnight, we were able to truly enjoy our time on the island and in Ushimado. This trip meant a lot to our family, and we’re grateful to have made such wonderful memories. We’d love to visit again in a different season.

No unnecessary services—simple, clean, and comfortable. The staff are kind and very pleasant. Excellent value, especially at this price during cherry blossom season.

The satoyama scenery and the private bath reserved exclusively for guests were wonderful. This bath is not lukewarm like the one used by day-trip visitors. I was completely satisfied except that the Room does not have a toilet or washbasin, so I didn’t like having to fill the kettle with water at the washbasin in the shared restroom.

I stayed here on a trip to Arima Onsen. The parking lot is very far away, so it’s quite inconvenient without the Shuttle Service. The check-in and check-out locations are also separate, which was inconvenient, but the Facility is clean and Gin no Yu is within walking distance. It was great that I could walk to various places in the downtown area!

I was able to enjoy a quiet, relaxing Onsen retreat at my own pace. The host of the Accommodation was very kind, and the quality of the Onsen was excellent. I had also made a Reservation for next week, but an urgent matter came up and I can no longer go. I’m very disappointed. In the near future, I would like to make another Reservation.

Atsugi Nanasawa Onsen was wonderful. We were able to use two indoor baths and one open-air bath almost privately.

I had the privilege of spending New Year's for the first time at Kinjohro, one of Kanazawa's most renowned ryokan. With my mother being from Kanazawa and having spent six years studying in this city myself, it had always been a dream to welcome the New Year at Kinjohro. However, I hesitated for a long time, feeling that such a prestigious and traditional ryokan might be beyond my reach. This year, I finally had the opportunity to visit Kanazawa with my son and fulfill this long-held dream. The elegant architecture, refined furnishings harmonizing sophistication and grace, exquisite Kutani ware and Kaga Yuzen kimonos—everything exuded timeless beauty. The traditional Kaga cuisine featuring local specialties like yellowtail fish, crab, duck dishes such as kamo-jibu stew prepared with care using authentic ingredients—and even the osechi New Year’s feast—were simply exceptional. The room and bath filled with the soothing scent of cypress wood added to an unforgettable experience. Above all else was the heartfelt hospitality provided by staff who embody over 130 years of tradition in this historic city of Kanazawa. It felt as though we were transported back in time to experience the grandeur of Kaga Hyakumangoku culture. On New Year's morning after enjoying osechi cuisine, we joined other guests along with the owner, proprietress (okami), head chef, staff members and their families for a mochi-pounding event at the entrance. The friendly atmosphere shared among everyone under glimpses of blue sky through clouds made it truly special—the taste of kinako-coated mochi will remain etched in our memories alongside our stay at Kinjohro. Thank you so much to everyone at Kinjohro! I look forward to experiencing more seasonal delights from Kanazawa’s rich culture through future visits here.

Simple yet comfortable rooms, many of which have separate bathrooms and washbasins. Although there are no windows, the lighting creates a relaxing atmosphere. There is also a space on the floor where you can enjoy tea and unwind. Breakfast is served in two shifts, starting at 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM, with each shift lasting 30 minutes, which was surprising. It would have been helpful if this detail was clearly explained during the Reservation process. However, since there seemed to be plenty of seating available, we were not rushed even after the designated time had passed. Still, it made for a slightly hurried morning. The location is excellent with many tourist attractions and restaurants within walking distance.

The open-air bath on the balcony felt absolutely wonderful. When I soaked in the hot water at dawn, I could hear Japanese bush warblers singing. Being able to look down over the dam lake was perfect for someone who loves high places. The meals were also very delicious, but it would have been even better if there had been a dry white wine option. Next time, I’d like to come again during cherry blossom season. Thank you very much.

I chose an accommodation where we could relax in a private space for a gathering with old friends. The kitchen was equipped with cooking utensils and tableware, allowing us to enjoy making and sharing sukiyaki together. Outside the window, there was a beautiful snowy landscape, and the time spent enjoying warm meals was truly wonderful. At night, the clear air revealed a breathtaking starry sky when we stepped outside. Spending time with old friends in peaceful nature offered a special experience that is hard to find in the city. The room was spacious and very comfortable, making it perfect for a multiple night stay to fully unwind. SANU seems to have multiple locations, so I would love to visit again!

I surprised my wife, who loves the countryside, with a stay here. She was very happy and said she’d like to come back next time with her parents.

It was a truly wonderful Hotel. Not only the Onsen, but also the Room interior and the restaurant atmosphere blended Japanese elements with a touch of elegance, and we thoroughly enjoyed the luxurious setting. During our stay, we needed to visit a hospital, and the staff kindly found one for us and promptly arranged a taxi, which was a great help. Thank you very much. We would love to stay again.
