I stayed here during my summer vacation. The moment I entered the Room, I was captivated by the warm, wood-filled space. The view of lush green trees through the wooden-framed windows helped me forget the busyness of everyday life, and I was able to relax in quiet comfort while lying on the cushioned sofa by the window. The view from the semi-open-air bath was also beautiful and incredibly relaxing. It truly was a Room with an outstanding view. I enjoyed both Japanese and French cuisine, and both were delicious with gentle, wholesome flavors. The rice balls prepared as a late-night snack were also excellent. All of the staff were kind and attentive, and I truly appreciated that they even delivered an item I forgot after checkout to my home. This is an Accommodation I would love to visit again!

I stayed for one night during the Obon holiday period, and it was a truly wonderful stay. With only 10 Rooms, the Accommodation was very quiet and private, and I hardly ran into other guests during my stay. The Room was spacious and spotless, and the open-air bath in the Room was very relaxing, allowing me to unwind at a leisurely pace. The food was also excellent, and I was extremely satisfied.

With warm smiles and heartfelt hospitality, a beautiful space blending Japanese and Western styles, and gentle Japanese cuisine made with local ingredients, our stay was truly wonderful. The Room is comfortable, combining a Japanese-style room overlooking a beautiful Japanese garden with a cozy bedroom. Thank you for such an exceptionally relaxing time, as if wrapped in a soft, gentle atmosphere.

We stayed here for my husband’s birthday trip. Our Room faced Mt. Fuji, and the view was amazing—we could see Mt. Fuji clearly even from the open-air bath. The meals also included Mt. Fuji-themed dishes, which we enjoyed with all five senses. There was a fireworks festival at Lake Kawaguchi, and the hotel prepared special seating on the rooftop so we could watch comfortably. We were also able to make a Reservation for a surprise birthday cake through the website, and it was served at our requested time. The service was excellent, and we would love to stay again.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. There was only one reason I came to Shirahama: To stay at Kuroshio Sou. When people think of Shirahama, many picture the sea and resorts. But what I found here was Wakayama itself. What moved me most at this Accommodation was not only how outstanding the food was. It was Head Chef Etani’s exceptional skill, and his deep respect for the producers who support every single dish. Fishermen. Farmers. Brewers. Roasters. And the artisans who continue to protect Japan’s fermentation culture. The moment I saw the map of producers introduced alongside the meal, I understood what this Accommodation truly values. Through the cuisine, you encounter not only ingredients, but also the people behind them and Wakayama’s climate and character. I was especially impressed by how delicious the soy sauce and Kinzanji miso were at dinner. When I asked about them, I learned they were from Horigawaya Nomura—a producer with over 350 years of history that still preserves traditional craftsmanship using firewood-heated iron kettles—making both their soy sauce and Kinzanji miso in that way today as well. I had originally planned to visit a different soy sauce brewery, but heavy rain made it impossible. Sometimes, the places you cannot reach end up guiding you to the story you were truly meant to find. For me, Kuroshio Sou was exactly that kind of place. The wonderful Onsen gently healed not only my body, but my mind as well. The quiet comfort throughout the building, Chef Etani’s cuisine, and the hospitality of all staff— together they quietly express this Accommodation’s philosophy in everything it does。 As a former chef from Tasmania, there is something I felt deeply: True hospitality is not just serving delicious food; it is helping guests connect with the people and culture that sustain a place。 I now have one more reason to return to Wakayama。 Thank you again from my heart.

The round-trip Shuttle Service was available, which we really appreciated. It’s in a quiet location, so we were able to relax. All the staff we met were polite and provided excellent service. As others have mentioned, the meals were the best we’ve had among all Kyoritsu Group properties we’ve visited. Since spiny lobster was unavailable due to the closed season, abalone sashimi was served instead—everything tasted great, and the portion was surprisingly generous. One small concern: right after check-in, at the open-air area of the rock-bath public bath (toward the back), there were quite large dead insects (beetles and moths). Given the natural surroundings it may be unavoidable, but I’d appreciate it if that area could also be checked more carefully.

Butterbur Shinoda rolls, vinegared dried taro stems, and the breakfast pumpkin soup—everything beyond the main dish was also delicious, with the chef’s kindness and sure touch coming through. The in-room dining service, delivered with just the right timing and a comfortable sense of distance (without over-explaining), is especially appealing. The Onsen in the Room was silky and seemed to cling to the skin; even after returning home, I felt my skin looked “whiter” and noticed a brightening effect. Highly recommended.

Both breakfast and dinner were exceptionally delicious, and we were completely satisfied. The view from the lounge was wonderful. From the in-room scenic bath, we could look out over the sea, and from the living area we could see airplanes up close. In the open-air bath of the large public bath, we could look up at planes just before landing, and were truly impressed by how powerful it was. We look forward to visiting again next year after the renovations are completed.

From the Kyoto-style entrance to the lobby, the calm atmosphere and smiling staff make you feel warmly welcomed. I stayed on the 5th floor of this five-story Hotel. There is a large public bath, and the artificial carbonated water bath feels gentle and soothing for tiredness. For breakfast, you can choose one main dish from four options, with the rest served buffet-style. Every menu item was delicious, and the overall food quality was impressively high. I also received a souvenir voucher, which was a lovely gift. This Hotel is conveniently located near Hankyu Karasuma Station and Shijo Subway Station. Kyoto touches are thoughtfully incorporated throughout the Hotel. I think it’s a perfect base for sightseeing in Kyoto.

This was my second stay. The moment I stepped through the entrance, it felt like a different world. The meals were delicious, the staff’s hospitality and manners were excellent, and our Room was upgraded—everything was taken care of. I would love to stay again. I’m also looking forward to trying the open-air bath next time. Thank you very much for such a wonderful experience.

Last year, I invited some friends and stayed here, and this year we were able to visit again around the same time because they really wanted to come back. I have visited several times for family events, and we were welcomed with the same warm smiles as always. As always, the meals were delicious, and the Onsen was gentle on the body with a perfect temperature. It was also my first time dining in a second-floor private dining Room, and the open atrium made it easy to appreciate the main building’s traditional architecture. However, this time the meal service was a bit disappointing: tea didn’t come unless we asked for it, and the explanations of the dishes were hard to follow. I understand they may still be inexperienced, but for an Accommodation that values its cuisine, I hope more care will be taken in how guests are attended to during meals. That said, it’s still an Accommodation I would definitely like to visit again.

The Facility was very luxurious yet refined and relaxing. The hospitality was excellent, and the meals were truly delicious. The Onsen water was clear and colorless, but it lived up to its reputation as one of Japan’s Three Famous Hot Springs, said to have been favored by Masamune Date. It doesn’t make you overheat easily and keeps you warm for a long time—an exceptional spring quality that warmed both body and mind and soothed me deeply. Next time, I would love to stay in a Room with a private open-air bath. I will definitely return.

This is a quiet, relaxing Accommodation overlooking the Tsugaru Strait. The meals were especially delicious, with each dish carefully prepared. The tableware also reflected the value and tradition of a Ryokan. With heartfelt service, it was a very comfortable stay. Thank you very much.

The meals are very healthy, using locally sourced ingredients. However, many dishes require guests to cook for themselves, such as shabu-shabu and skewered fried items, and they felt like dishes we could make at home. In other words, there didn’t seem to be many creative or unique options. Using freshly harvested vegetables and eggs, I would like the head chef to offer a few more elaborate dishes. The Room and bath were wonderful, and we were able to relax while fully enjoying nature. This time, extra towels were brought free of charge upon request, but since we bathe in the Onsen multiple times, it would be appreciated if two towels per person were provided from the start. While preserving the traditional machiya atmosphere overall, the Accommodation has been thoughtfully renovated with a focus on key areas such as the bathroom and kitchen—spacious, spotless, and highly practical. It was a comfortable space with an excellent sense of balance. Unlike a typical Hotel stay, it offered an experience that blends into the neighborhood, and I felt as if I were spending my very first day after moving in. There are many lighting fixtures, and being able to fine-tune them to suit different situations was very convenient. The complimentary local drinks—such as roasted green tea and cider—were a delightful touch that added to the travel mood. Everything from the teapot and cups to the tray and even the hair dryer had a refined design that was pleasing to look at. It was a wonderful Room combining quality with functionality. Under normal circumstances this would unquestionably be a 5-star stay, but this time I am rating it 3 stars. The guests upstairs ran around for minutes at night and again the next morning like shuttle runs, even falling loudly at times. It was noise at a level that would feel excessive even in an ordinary Hotel—and all the more so in a machiya-style place like Komado. Even if our floors were reversed and I were staying upstairs, it would still have carried through. It was extremely difficult to endure. I wanted to raise this through staff, but neither the main phone line nor the emergency contact number could be reached around 7:30 p.m. I believe this Accommodation’s core appeal is its high-quality feel that blends seamlessly into everyday life in town, so it was deeply disappointing that such noise is fundamentally incompatible with that experience. That said, if you are not paired with guests like we had this time, it will surely be an outstanding stay without complaint. Being able to look out onto the courtyard was also fantastic; it is illuminated at night and offers scenery different from daytime—I never got tired of it!

We stayed here to celebrate his birthday. I had long dreamed of visiting this Accommodation, so I was truly looking forward to it—and the experience exceeded my expectations in every way. Personally, I’m not usually comfortable with the atmosphere of a traditional Ryokan, but Hanamurasaki pleasantly changed that impression. The Room was a refined, modern space, yet it also felt warmly relaxing. Even down to the amenities and small details, everything matched a contemporary sense of comfort while still offering the calmness and attentiveness unique to a Ryokan. Above all, the view from our Room was breathtaking. Watching the scenery slowly change over time—accompanied only by insects chirping and the sounds of wind and water—felt incredibly luxurious. I even forgot about my smartphone entirely and was able to savor unhurried time and conversation, which became a cherished memory. The in-room Onsen was also wonderful: an unexpectedly spacious bath with an exceptional sense of openness. From soaking while taking in the view to simply enjoying the moment, it truly felt like pure indulgence. Dinner was served as a course meal, enjoyable not only for its flavors but also for its beautiful tableware and presentation. We could fully appreciate local tastes and seasonal touches, and we were very satisfied. Thank you as well for kindly accommodating ingredients I don’t eat. Another highlight was the hospitality from all of the staff. It never felt excessive—always natural—yet their thoughtful attention could be felt throughout our stay. Beyond the sophisticated space and cuisine, I believe this Accommodation’s greatest charm is also its human warmth. A modern, polished setting combined with warmth that only a Ryokan can offer—the two coexisted so comfortably that “a place where you can experience a new value in what a Ryokan can be” felt like exactly the right description. This trip was chosen to celebrate his birthday, but before I knew it I had completely fallen in love with Hanamurasaki (laugh). I’m truly glad we chose it for such an important occasion. Thank you for such a wonderful stay beyond expectations. It has become an Accommodation we’ll treasure—and one we’d love to return to in another season.

I stayed here for sightseeing in Kanazawa. Although I took a bus from the station, it was a very convenient Hotel—Higashi Chaya District, the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, and plenty of lunch and dinner options were all within walking distance.\nIt was my first stay, but my friend who stayed with me chose it right away after saying, “Nono is recommended.” The Room was easy to use, clean, and I was very satisfied. The large public bath was also very clean.\nI also enjoyed the late-night soba and was extremely satisfied. Next time I’d like to try the buffet. I will definitely stay again, and I would love to recommend it to other friends as well.\nThank you very much for your hospitality.
