We visited with five families of friends. We were very satisfied. Both the fire-starting experience and stargazing became wonderful memories.

We stayed as a couple in our 50s. Rather than a Hotel, it feels more like a charming pension-style place, which suits it well. The front desk gave the impression that they may be operating more efficiently than before, and that’s perfectly fine. The staff were all ladies older than us, so the pace was a bit relaxed—but in an endearing way. It felt warm and comfortable. The Room was spacious, with Lake Biwa stretching out beyond the window. Since this area tends to feel cold, even in April they had a heater and blankets prepared. We chose the Omi beef steak course. From the photos I wondered if it might not be enough, but it was very filling and satisfying. For breakfast, we were happy to be able to choose either Japanese or Western style. The curry was especially delicious! The bath is not an Onsen, but it was kept very clean. We went to see the Osaki cherry blossoms by the inlet. Next time, I’d love to visit again during the season when the metasequoia trees are at their best.

On the third day of my solo trip from Tokyo to Saga, I stayed at Shunkeiya in Takeo Onsen. It is located right next to the Romon Gate, and the building is very clean and beautiful. They prepared a 14-tatami corner Room for me even though I was traveling alone, and dinner served in the Room was wonderfully varied and absolutely delicious. The attendant assigned to my Room was also excellent, and the free-flowing natural hot spring water was superb. Even though I was on my own, they provided Shuttle Service to the station—an Accommodation where everything was thoughtfully taken care of. I love traveling and have stayed in many places, but considering how reasonably priced it is, I was satisfied with everything here. If it were in the Kanto area, I could visit often—it's a shame it’s not. Next time, I would definitely like to come again with my wife. This first solo trip became a truly wonderful memory for me.

Thank you for picking us up at the station despite our late arrival on the day. The food was delicious and plentiful. The open-air bath in the Room had just the right temperature, and we were able to enjoy it multiple times. We would love to visit again. Thank you very much!

This was my first visit. About a 20-minute taxi ride from Kibune, after passing through a peaceful satoyama countryside, you’ll find this culinary Ryokan by the Sanzen-in temple gate. Upon arrival, the staff welcomed us with attentive service and treated us to shiso juice. The Room faced the garden and was a calming Japanese-style space. They said they bring Onsen water from Sanzen-in, and I was able to relax and unwind in the open-air bath. The lounge area was well stocked with drinks and ice cream, which was great. Dinner starts at 6:00 PM, but since we had a late lunch, they kindly let us delay it by 30 minutes, which really helped. The dishes were beautifully presented, and everything was delicious. The appetizer featuring an Aoi Matsuri festival float decoration included Chinese lantern plant (hozuki), which made me feel the season. The pike conger (hamo) and sweetfish (ayu) were also beautifully plated and very tasty. Everyone at the Ryokan was truly kind, and their courteous service made me very happy. The Shuttle Service by bus was also extremely helpful. I’d love to visit again. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us.

There is an accommodation located just up the hill of Shiroyama at the eastern edge of the grid-like town. The narrow and steep approach road is one-way, so there’s no need to worry about oncoming traffic. Even large buses were able to make their way up. Although the entrance area of the accommodation is narrow, once you unload your luggage, valet service will take care of parking your car. Walking downhill from the accommodation leads to a main tourist spot, and it’s also conveniently close to the station, making it a great base for exploring. The interior is spacious with intricate design details. The staff are kind and attentive in their interactions. The room faces west with no tall trees obstructing the view, offering a wide panorama of the entire town that can be enjoyed both from inside and from the terrace with an open-air bath. (The view may vary depending on room orientation.) The private open-air bath in each room maintains an ideal temperature all day and night; it’s made of stone and spacious enough for a family to enjoy together. A shower room is conveniently adjacent. On our stay date, fireworks lit up Takayama city, which we watched for about an hour while leaning against the terrace railing. Meals are served in semi-private booth-style seating with sunken kotatsu tables. A quiet group of Western guests dined together in a large hall nearby.

When I asked for help planning my proposal, they kindly agreed to assist. They communicated with great care and even helped with the decorations. I truly hope to stay here again.

This was my third stay, and it was just as amazing as ever! In a wonderful space, we could truly enjoy delicious food, and the hospitality was outstanding—an Accommodation that makes you want to come back every year. In fact, we really do visit every year. Haha. We’re already looking forward to next year! Thank you very much.

There is an accommodation nestled in a forested hill within walking distance from Nakatsugawa Station. The expansive grounds are lush with greenery and feature scattered traditional detached buildings, exuding the charm of a mountain retreat. Surrounded by garden stones, plants, and tea flowers, the landscaping is meticulously maintained. The historic buildings showcase aged materials and fittings that reflect their history and character but are kept impeccably clean. Each unit has been updated with a spacious unit bath equipped with a washing area and modern toilet facilities for convenient use at any time. One of the detached buildings houses large communal baths for men and women, each featuring rectangular stone bathtubs that can accommodate several people along with two washing areas. Large glass windows open fully to reveal views of the bright forest outside. While not an onsen, it offers an atmosphere reminiscent of one. The accommodation is conveniently located near Magome and Tsumago, attracting many international guests seeking its unique ambiance. Meals are served in private dining rooms within separate annexes where guests can enjoy dishes at tables with chairs. The cuisine features innovative rural delicacies inspired by tea kaiseki style, showcasing creativity and meticulous preparation in every dish. Pure rice sake available in the room's refrigerator pairs perfectly with these meals. Nights here are quiet, offering warmth despite being housed in old Japanese-style architecture known for its gaps between structures. The hospitality provided by the staff adds to this warm experience as well.

I stayed here as a solo traveler. It’s within walking distance of the Higashi Chaya District, and during cherry blossom season it’s a great place for a stroll! Since you can rent the entire house exclusively, I was able to relax and take my time. The bath was especially wonderful! The Facility and amenities were also excellent, with the latest appliances—almost too good for just one night. Next time, I’d like to buy local vegetables and fish and cook in the well-equipped kitchen.

Wanting to show my support for Fukushima as it continues its recovery, I stayed at this Hotel as a base to visit the Nuclear Disaster Archive, Ukedo Elementary School, Futaba Super Zero Mill, and the Reconstruction Memorial Park. When I called in advance, perhaps because it is a new Hotel, I felt a bit uneasy about the phone response; however, once I arrived, aside from it being hard to tell from the main entrance that the front desk is on the second floor, all of the staff were very smooth and helpful, and my stay was extremely comfortable. The amenities are excellent—I was happy to find ReFa hair dryers and shampoo. And the bath towels were so light and comfortable! I’ve never been impressed by towels at any Hotel before. Once I realized they were Zero Mill towels, it made perfect sense. I bought some towels thinking they would be for guests, but I’m going to start using them myself right away! The restaurant meals were also delicious. Dinner was so good that my sister even said, “Breakfast should be great too,” and looked forward to it. There was an Akabeko displayed with the local ingredients—cute and easy to understand—and everything tasted great. The Futaba bookshelf had picture books organized by theme as well… My stay was too short to take my time browsing (and reading), but with features like this and the spa as well—and with pleasant breezes and the sound of waves—it seems like an Accommodation you could really enjoy staying at.

Used for a New Year's trip to Kyoto. Conveniently located near Kiyomizu-dera with parking available. The view is amazing. The entire floor on the first level (even the kitchen!) is equipped with underfloor heating, making it very warm wherever you are. From the large windows, you can see the mountains towards Kiyomizu-dera, and at night, the illuminated trees from the balcony area were very beautiful. The bath can be enjoyed with the windows fully open both at night and in the morning, giving an open-air feeling. Overall, it was a very good property.

I stayed for one night. Not only was the facility excellent, but the warm hospitality of the staff could be felt everywhere, making it a very pleasant stay. I enjoy hotel stays and often use accommodations, but this has become my favorite place in Tokyo so far. Chill time on the balcony might become addictive! I will definitely visit again!

I stayed here while returning home during the summer holidays. Among the many traditional Japanese house accommodations, this one stood out for its elegance—originally a samurai residence, it has a refined presence. In particular, the garden is designed with a small stream running through it, giving charm not only to the building but to the entire property. Inside, fresh flowers of various kinds were arranged throughout, and despite being an unmanned accommodation, it felt thoughtfully cared for with attentive touches. The bath was not an Onsen, but there were so many other appealing qualities that it didn’t feel like much of a drawback. Perhaps because of its location it may be an area that’s harder for tourists to visit, but for travelers from Japan and abroad alike, this accommodation is well worth visiting with the stay itself as part of the purpose of the trip. I would love to return when I have another chance.

The ocean view that greeted us the moment we entered the Room, the stylish background music, and every flower and decorative touch were wonderful. Unfortunately, we had strong winds and rain, but spending a relaxing, luxurious time in such a lovely Room was the best. Also, having the chef cook right in front of us became an unforgettable memory for our children as well, even though they were a little nervous. We would love to come back to enjoy the different views in summer, autumn, and winter from this beautiful Room. All of the staff were very kind. Thank you for taking such great care of us.

We were able to stay as a family of three in the grass-roof cottage we’d been eyeing on Instagram. At the end of a slope winding through the trees, the cottage came into view, and our child was thrilled. The open-plan living room has large windows with soothing greenery stretching out before you. Our child ran up to the second-floor bedroom, dove onto the comfy bed, and excitedly declared, “I’m sleeping here tonight!” There were three bedrooms, each with two beds. When we went for a walk around the garden, countless flowers were in bloom and it felt like a small village surrounding a pond. There’s a Baby Troll house and a Yoshibo house, and you can even go inside. The stamp rally is fun too—collect all six stamps in the garden while checking the map, reach the goal, and you get a reward! At the back of the garden there’s also a wooden deck where you can relax at your leisure. Enjoy coffee slowly—or like me, unwind with a beer while taking in the view. While we adults took it easy, our child had little adventures around the pond—chasing dragonflies and butterflies, spotting fish in the water, even trying to catch frogs—and looked like they were having an amazing time. In the evening: BBQ! This time we brought our own ingredients and borrowed the BBQ set on the terrace. My wife and child were both delighted. At night, the garden illuminations were beautiful—and there was even a large glowing tree! If it’s this stunning in summer, winter must be even more magical. I can’t help imagining it becoming a romantic spot for couples on winter nights… just my own daydream (laughs). The next morning, we used our stay perk ticket to buy bread at Kanel Bread across from us and enjoyed breakfast on the garden terrace—such an indulgent moment! Inside this Accommodation there’s a kitchen where you can cook. It had that coveted BALMUDA toaster and kettle; plus tableware from Arabia—irresistible for anyone who loves Scandinavian style. Even small touches made us happy: Sekkisei amenities and a ReFa hair dryer—each detail was exciting. When we went to reception for check-out, we couldn’t take our eyes off all of souvenirs—we wanted everything as keepsakes. Our child chose a dwarf piggy bank. Everyone on staff was kind and thoughtful as well; thanks to them we could truly relax and enjoy some luxurious downtime without any worries. We heard that grass roofs change their look with each season: green from spring through summer, brown in autumn, then pure white when snow falls. We’d love to come back again in another season.

I made a Reservation because I wanted to experience life in Kyoto in a traditional machiya townhouse renovated from a 100-year-old historic building. Another deciding factor was the great location—just a 10-minute walk from Kyoto Station—making it easy to reach any sightseeing spot. After staying, I found it even more spacious than expected. It’s an Accommodation that preserves the charm of its century-old architecture while offering a functional, comfortable interior, and I was impressed by the balance of history and modern convenience. The access was, of course, very convenient, and the area around the Accommodation felt like a different world from crowded Kyoto—quiet and peaceful—which was an unexpected delight. Finally, the owner welcomed us personally and gave us welcome flowers and a letter; their hospitality made this stay truly memorable. They kindly shared recommendations for dinner and how to spend the evening, and even saw us off at check-out. Thank you for everything—we will definitely visit again.

We are a couple in our 50s traveling to refresh. We had a wonderful stay at this new Facility surrounded by nature. The Room was spacious, and the bed and pillows were excellent. We also appreciated the staff’s thoughtful service, which allowed us to truly relax and unwind. It is close to a roadside station as well, and we bought corn and blueberries to take home—everything was delicious. It would have been perfect with a bathtub, but the shower booth was large and comfortable, so we had no complaints. The shampoo was especially great and left our hair silky smooth. We would be very happy if it could be purchased at the Hotel.

We stayed with our 4-year-old and 1-year-old. Since it was both of their birthdays, you prepared a cake and celebrated with us, and when the staff took photos they used a sound-making toy to get the children’s attention, so we were able to take wonderful pictures. The large public bath can be used by children as well, and the women’s bath has a shallow pool, watering-can toys, and a chair for seating a 1-year-old. There was also a shower right next to it, so I could shower while watching them play. My mother passed away recently, so I brought her photo and placed it on the table. When we returned from the bath, dinner had been set—and in front of her photo you had placed rice, miso soup, pickles, tea, and even a meal for her. I was deeply moved. At breakfast as well, you kept an eye on us and quickly brought anything we needed; every member of staff was truly wonderful. For an Arima Onsen trip with children, this is the only choice.

It had a calm atmosphere, and I was able to relax and take my time.\nThey also kindly guided me on how to get to Amanoiwato Shrine and provided information about the Yokagura night performance at Takachiho Shrine, which was very helpful.\nThey even provided a Shuttle Service to the night performance and lent me a seat cushion.\nThe meals were delicious—I ended up having seconds and was completely full (laugh).\nThe bath was spacious and relaxing, and it soothed my tired body.\nOne point off: after checkout I realized I had left something behind and called, but I never received a return call, which was disappointing.
