We stayed with you on a weekend in late September. With the weather swinging between hot and cool, days of rain, and even a typhoon, it really feels like anything can happen these days. So we decided: go where you want to go while you can, meet the people you want to meet when you can, and eat what you want to eat when you feel like it. And that meant—let’s go to WATANABE and enjoy autumn! By the time dinner started at 6:00 p.m., it was already dark outside the window. Looking up at the night sky reminded me how last year felt like summer all the way into October, and how we only started sensing autumn around mid-October. This dinner was another wonderful “WATANABE Special”—a luxurious and delicious course (including abalone salad and live Ise lobster with bouillabaisse sauce) that made me genuinely happy from start to finish. Boiled Toneri shellfish in seawater Mehikari fish fritters Herb toast topped with kampachi prosciutto-style ham Gougère filled with tartare of kombu-cured shrimp Snow crab and mushroom cake salé Red bell pepper mousse topped with Hokkaido sea urchin and consommé jelly Steamed abalone tabbouleh (couscous) with celery salad Ayu confit baked in pastry with tapenade and cucumber sauce Local turban shell & brown mushroom bourguignon-style dish Pan-seared white tilefish with peanuts, lightly curry-flavored Lemongrass granita Live Ise lobster with bouillabaisse sauce (assorted mushrooms) Homemade whole-wheat bread Japanese chestnut Mont Blanc dessert Madam’s petit fours and tea Every dish was delicious—especially for someone like me who loves fish roe/innards and being able to enjoy whole fish. Thank you for the wonderful feast both evening and morning. I’m always moved by the chef’s cooking, and soothed by Madam’s gentle smile. Thank you again for such a happy time. Today’s discovery: Madam makes that wonderfully chestnut-filled base of the Mont Blanc herself—amazing!

The tea and sweets you gave us as we were leaving were absolutely delicious, and my husband and I went home extremely satisfied. This trip was to celebrate our wedding anniversary a little early. It became a truly special memory. Now that our children are independent, we’ve stayed at several places where we could comfortably travel with just the two of us and our dog, but the meals at Belle Equipe were in a class of their own! They were the best French dishes we have ever had—regardless of travel! We also truly appreciated how comfortable our stay was, and we are very grateful for the lovely gifts as well. Thank you so much! We can’t visit often, but we would love to stay with you again. When we do, we look forward to seeing you again.

Beyond the gates of Tayuta, a wonderful world opened up. Villas are scattered across a vast hilltop property, and from the stylish front desk and the restaurant building in particular, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Amakusa Sea with mountain ridgelines and islands stretching out before you. The villa itself is set in a lawn garden overlooking the expansive ocean—spacious, comfortable, and deeply relaxing. Every member of staff was full of genuine hospitality, eager to welcome guests. The cuisine was outstanding as well; each dish conveyed a true desire to share the best flavors of Amakusa, and we enjoyed every bite. For me, this was the best accommodation I have ever stayed at—completely satisfying in every way. Thank you very much. We look forward to returning again soon.

This was our first trip with our beloved dog (a black Mameshiba), and we really enjoyed it—the meals were delicious, and the private bath was very spacious, so we could relax at length. Our dog was also thrilled with walks through the pine grove and along the sandy beach. If we have another chance to visit Awaji Island, we’d love to stay here again.

This was my second stay. I stayed for one night with the goal of relaxing and unwinding away from everyday chores, work, and everything else. I really love the quiet, calming space—there’s everything you need and nothing unnecessary. The place is also very well cleaned, so I can stay comfortably without any stress. The meal (this time pork shabu-shabu) was very filling. This time I brought a little sashimi and some snacks, and had the somen noodles to finish the shabu-shabu as breakfast the next morning. The broth was incredibly delicious, and while both the meat and vegetables were great, the onions in particular were sweet and amazing. On the drive home, we ended up chatting excitedly about coming back again next autumn (laughs). In short, I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to spend a “luxury” getaway doing nothing but relaxing at a slow pace.

This is my favorite regular inn—my go-to place to reset both mind and body. This time again, the dinner I had been looking forward to was far beyond my expectations. The upgraded local fish sashimi was unbelievably fresh! I was especially happy that it included two rare types of local white fish: “Hoki-hata” and “Hige-dara.” The pleasant springy texture and rich umami of the Hoki-hata, and the refined, deep sweetness of the Hige-dara—I took my time savoring these special flavors that you can only encounter at this inn. The handwritten note listing the fish varieties also conveyed such warm hospitality. The napa cabbage macaroni gratin was outstanding—the homemade-from-scratch white sauce was perfectly balanced. Rich yet light with a gentle finish, it brought out the natural sweetness of the vegetables, and I couldn’t stop eating. The Izu seaweed soup also felt like it gently soaked into every part of my body. I feel fulfilled from within by the delicious food, then healed from without by the free-flowing natural hot spring water and suina massage therapy. Once you experience this luxurious private space, you truly become hooked. I left fully recharged once again—and I’ll be back for another boost!

We had a wonderful time in a very clean room with excellent facilities. The meal was also delicious—a meat-themed kaiseki course that felt refreshingly different from typical ryokan cuisine. The location, in the Higashiyama area, was another highlight, making it easy to explore around Kiyomizu-dera in the morning.

This is the most satisfying Ryokan I have ever stayed at. The hospitality was beyond anything I could have imagined. The owner, the proprietress, and all the staff were wonderful people, and their warmth truly touched my heart. The meals, centered on seafood, featured outstanding ingredients and careful preparation—I was completely satisfied. What deserves special mention is the owner’s 100% buckwheat handmade soba: its aroma and smoothness were exceptional. I live in a prefecture known as a soba mecca, but I have never had soba better than this. Even the breakfast vegetables were all pesticide-free and homegrown, made with real care. The Onsen water was a reddish cloudy spring that felt gentle on the skin and relieved my fatigue. The building has a dignified presence with a sense of history. In every way it was outstanding—an Accommodation that makes you want to return again soon.

The food and hospitality were outstanding. Adding Izu sweetfish to dinner was absolutely the right choice. All of the other dishes were also delicious. The butler’s hospitality was exceptional—they even put together a helpful list of recommended nearby lunch spots by category, complete with QR codes. Overall, it was a highly satisfying stay. This is my favorite Accommodation: the well-maintained interior always helps me feel refreshed both body and mind in the Room’s open-air bath, and I can enjoy a French course dinner in casual attire. I will definitely stay again.

Whenever I find some free time, I visit Sunset Susami to relax. But what impresses me most is the people who work here. No matter when I come, everyone is kind, and even the newly hired staff (including international staff) explain the dishes in Japanese—you can really feel how hard they are trying. From check-in to meals, they do their very best to provide warm hospitality, and it makes me feel grateful and comforted. There may not be flashy or luxurious facilities, but the rooms, lobby, and restrooms are always kept spotless and well cleaned. Whenever I stay here, I can always head home feeling refreshed. I didn’t get to see the manager this time, but please take good care of yourself.

This is a perfect Accommodation no matter when you visit. It was Kyoto in extreme heat, but thanks to your thoughtful care in many ways, we had a wonderful time. The pike conger is a must in this season; it is an additional-order dish, but highly recommended. We are planning to visit again in autumn.

This was our second stay, and even though we arrived nearly two hours later than planned, thank you very much for welcoming us so kindly. Both the Room and the bath were very clean. We were a bit concerned about mosquitoes given the season, but effective measures with a wonderful fragrance were in place, so we felt completely at ease throughout our stay. The sound system in the loft theater room was excellent—it truly felt like being in a movie theater. We were also shown to a private dining room, which allowed us to relax and enjoy the delicious food at our own pace, almost like in-Room dining. All of the staff were courteous from start to finish, and we had a truly wonderful time. We would love to stay again. Thank you very much for everything.

The antique-style room, the open-air bath, and the in-room dining were all truly wonderful! The service was very pleasant, and I’d love to come back for a discreet getaway with my partner. I ended up using the open-air bath about five times in one day (haha). Absolutely amazing!

In-room dining and a private open-air bath in the Room made it a completely private space. The meals were delicious. This Accommodation was great for families with small children, as you can relax and enjoy your stay without worrying about others. It was a bit difficult to do makeup, so having a handheld mirror would be helpful.

We stayed here as a couple to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. It was an even more wonderful hotel than we expected, and our stay—from arrival to departure—was satisfying from start to finish. As someone originally from Nagoya, the TV Tower has been familiar to me since childhood, though it has been 25 years since I left the city. I was truly surprised and moved that such a beautiful hotel had been created here. From the warm welcome on arrival, every member of staff was attentive and kind, and we felt comfortable throughout our stay. This time, we were upgraded to a larger room as a Diamond member benefit—what a lovely surprise! The welcome sweets were adorable and absolutely delicious. The view from the room was outstanding, of course. The art displayed throughout the hotel was also captivating, giving the entire property its own unique atmosphere. There were new discoveries everywhere we walked, and we thoroughly enjoyed the art tour as well. Searching for artworks together as a couple became a fun memory too (laugh). And the night view from the observation deck—an exclusive perk for guests—was truly breathtaking! We could take in all of Nagoya’s nightscape at once, making it an unforgettable moment. The hidden-door entrance leading up to the deck was incredibly stylish; its playful touch made us genuinely excited. Breakfast lived up to its reputation—delicious in every way—and we enjoyed a luxurious, happy morning while taking in the amazing view. My wife loved it too and said, “No.1 among all the hotels we’ve ever stayed at!” We’re truly happy to have found a hotel that satisfied both of us wholeheartedly. Thanks to everyone’s heartfelt hospitality, our 25th wedding anniversary became a wonderful memory we will never forget for the rest of our lives. Thank you so much to all of your staff for such an incredible experience. Whenever we visit Nagoya again, we would love to stay here again. This is an inn I had been curious about for about a year, and I was finally able to make my long-awaited stay come true. At check-in, you kindly explained the history and culture of Ise-Kawasaki in great detail, which truly moved me. The Ise tea and salted yokan served to us were delicious, and the warm, attentive hospitality of the staff member in charge left a lasting impression. The room was a charming space where you could feel the breath of history—spacious, spotless, and extremely comfortable. The beautiful garden view stretching out beyond the room was so captivating that I found myself gazing at it for ages. The amenities were also wonderful, including VMG’s familiar rice bran series and the “Ise Misogi-yu” bath salts. What impressed me most was breakfast. The dishes inspired by the tradition of “Shinsen,” offerings presented to the deities at the Grand Shrine, had deep, comforting flavors that reflected both craftsmanship and heartfelt care. It brought me a profound sense of peace and healing as I felt connected to the local climate and history. I also appreciated being able to enjoy Ise udon at breakfast—something I had missed during my trip—which was such a thoughtful touch. At check-out, you gladly took commemorative photos in front of the main building and warmly saw us off until we were out of sight; that moment remains vividly in my heart even now. It was clear that everyone on staff truly cherishes Ise’s history and culture. This stay reminded me of Japan’s precious sense of beauty—something easily forgotten amid everyday busyness—and made it an unforgettable experience. I would love to return again.
