My two classmates and I (three men, all 78 years old) stayed in the suite with a ceramic-style bath. The toilet was the same TOTO Neorest as we have at home, but the space around it felt a bit narrow. It would be better if the shower head holder in the bath were positioned lower. Dinner was delicious, but there was so much that we left quite a bit. Breakfast was a half-buffet; if possible, we would prefer a Japanese set meal. Everything was clean, and all of the staff were kind and courteous. We would like to stay again.

The Onsen was excellent. Reasonably priced and the meals were decent, it's a Hotel I would like to visit again.

I stayed in November, and the unique silky texture of the bath was pleasant, offering a warmth different from other Onsen. The meals were delicious, with flavors crafted by an award-winning chef, leaving me completely satisfied. This time, I stayed in a room with a bed. The Ryokan staff were kind and attentive, making my stay entirely satisfying.

The open-air Onsen bath in the Room was truly relaxing, and I used it many times. We chose the small-portion Plan for meals, but it was more than enough to leave us completely full. Both dinner and breakfast were very delicious. The thoughtful touches unique to a small Ryokan—such as a toothpick holder made from chiyogami paper—made the hospitality genuinely comforting. The proprietress and all staff were also very pleasant. Also, since I have trouble with my legs, I stayed in a barrier-free Room, but the shampoo and other amenities in the shower area were placed quite low. If possible, I would like them to be set a little higher. Thank you very much.

It feels wonderfully nostalgic. A true Ryokan atmosphere. The breakfast is delicious too. You can smoke, so no complaints!

The dinner offered a great variety and was delicious—we were very satisfied. Every dish was excellent. Of course, breakfast was also delicious… The property was clean, and we had a comfortable stay. We would love to stay here again.

We decided to visit Arima Onsen on short notice and made a reservation here as it was available. The building might be old, but the guidance, car assistance, and customer service were very polite. It was nice to enjoy in-room dining after a long time. This accommodation serves delicious meals! Everything tasted great, likely because the dishes were served hot and the broth was flavorful. We enjoyed both gold and silver onsens, and perhaps due to good timing, we had them almost all to ourselves for a relaxing soak. The location is convenient for strolling around the onsen town, and we’re glad we chose this place.

Although it is an old-fashioned Hotel, it was very clean, and the front desk staff provided clear explanations and excellent service. The meals were also delicious. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

Very convenient for skiers. Lift discount vouchers are available in the off-season in March. Unfortunately, I didn’t know about them on the first day and couldn’t use one. Many Hotels around here are like this, but it’s great that you can still take a bath after check-out once you’re done skiing. The open-air bath has excellent water quality, but it was a bit disappointing that after check-out only the indoor bath is available. The meals were more than enough, and I didn’t have room for the all-you-can-eat imoni soup and dessert. I wanted to have the imoni soup the next morning even if it was just reheated, but it seems it’s only served at night. I thought it would be nice if the foreign staff smiled a bit more, but since I train Hotel employees as a Japanese-language teacher, I tend to be overly critical. They are probably doing their best.

The room was very clean and provided a comfortable stay. The meal was a crab course, and there was more crab than expected, which made it very satisfying. It was an experience worth more than the price. We also received a pass for visiting public baths, allowing us to enjoy them even after checkout. I would love to stay here again.

The meals were a full-course Japanese cuisine and extremely satisfying. Breakfast was also delicious to the point of overeating. However, while there are five baths available and they were nice, access is on a first-come, first-served basis, making it difficult to use them at your preferred time. The private outdoor bath for two is enjoyable but gives the impression of being underutilized since it’s not always accessible.

Stayed on a weekday before the Obon holiday in August with the most affordable plan for 4 people. Despite some initial concerns, it was excellent value for money and an incredibly satisfying stay. The room was about 12 tatami mats in size, with a spacious hallway entrance and a wide sitting area by the window overlooking trees, comfortably seating four people. The bathroom had two sinks, and while there was a toilet in the room, there were also toilets located throughout the hallways and other areas. The bath was spacious with slightly sulfur-scented Onsen water that left my skin feeling smooth. Meals were served at tables in a large tatami-floored dining area. There was a menu provided along with explanations from staff members. While not extravagant, the dishes were creative and deliciously satisfying. For those wanting more luxurious options like beef or crab dishes, upgrading to another plan might be better suited. Tea and water were self-serve but made using tea leaves rather than tea bags, which made it taste better; even the water itself tasted great! After check-in, our luggage was carried to our room by staff who were kind and attentive throughout our stay. The building itself is impressive yet simple in design—clean with quick elevator access—and we enjoyed relaxing without any crowds at the baths or elsewhere around the Ryokan grounds. The road leading to this Ryokan wasn’t narrow either! One thing to note: they provide yukata robes but only one Onsen towel besides bath towels; so bringing your own pajamas or face towels might be helpful (especially if you find sleeping in yukata uncomfortable like I do). Would love to visit again!

Although slightly dated, it was a lovely Hotel. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, and even though it was outside regular hours, they kindly gave a ride to the station for one person who had to leave early. The only disappointment was not being able to use the open-air bath with a great view. The baths switched between men and women the next morning, but I couldn't use it due to lack of time in the morning.

Overall, it was excellent.

In conclusion, we stayed with two meals included, and it was absolutely the right choice. This is Hoshidare Accommodation. From the compact exterior, you enter using the password sent in advance by email, and you’re greeted by a wonderful entrance with white gravel! There are handwritten message cards from the manager everywhere, and although you don’t meet anyone in person, it really feels like a warm welcome. The Room was just the right size, and it also had a washer-dryer and a humidifying air purifier. Amenities included loungewear, yukata robes, and bathrobes—and it was my first time ever having two bath towels per person. Meals are self-serve for heating and plating, so we fumbled a bit at first, but preparing everything while chatting was fun too. The presentation was gorgeous, and there was more than enough food. I was worried about how many drinks would be available, but there were plenty as well. They even put a name label on our bottle of sparkling wine. I was impressed by how delicious the tap water was—smooth with no harshness at all. The bath is an alkaline hot spring with free-flowing source water; it was so amazing that I went in again and again. The hair dryer is Dyson—definitely exciting—and they also provided various face masks and lotions. The good-quality ice cream after dinner was pure bliss. Even the main dish at breakfast—the homemade Sendai beef stewed curry—was incredibly delicious... Overall it was fantastic, so I’d absolutely like to stay again. If I had to mention one thing: the pre-stay email arrived late morning on the day before check-in, which made me worry whether my Reservation had gone through—but since the site clearly says they’ll email by the day before, it’s not an issue. Also, I wasn’t sure which plate to use for curry—I hesitated over that one! I definitely want to come back again.

The bath and meals were excellent, but dinner is scheduled quite early. The only start times were 5:30 pm or 6:00 pm, and we were strongly pushed toward 5:30 pm. If we had known from the beginning that dinner would start at those times, we would have planned lunch accordingly. Since we ate a late lunch, we asked for a later time, but it wasn’t possible. At breakfast, while some guests were still eating, staff asked if anyone wanted more rice and then quickly began clearing the tables. We like to relax when traveling, so the rushed pace stood out. Aside from that, the food was delicious, the staff were all kind, and the location in the center of the Onsen town was great.

Conveniently located near Yubatake. The hot spring water was excellent, and I fully enjoyed Kusatsu. Thank you!

I stayed on a weekday. There was no wait at reception, and I was able to go to my Room smoothly. The Room is old, but it was properly cleaned and tidy. Amenities in each Room were limited to a toothbrush, towels, and a yukata, but there seemed to be more available in the Onsen changing room. Wi-Fi works, but when I ran a speed test the download speed was around 8 Mbps. Since it was about this fast on a quiet day, I wouldn’t expect much on busy days. For dinner, I chose the charcoal-grilled seafood set. It included crab, scallops, salmon, squid, vegetables, and also sashimi. Since there was udon included I didn’t ask for it, but it seems rice is provided as well. You can also order additional dishes or sake tasting sets for an extra charge. The Onsen felt like it was privately reserved just for me. It’s a great Onsen, and being able to use one of that size alone might actually be a rare opportunity. I think I saw other Reviews mentioning cold shower water; if it’s nearly private-use only, the pipes may have cooled down due to low usage. For about one minute only cold water came out, but after that it worked normally. The sauna did not seem to be available due to COVID-19 prevention measures. Overall, considering the Accommodation Fee level (value for money), this Hotel offers high satisfaction with dinner, breakfast (included), and the Onsen—great cost performance/value for money overall. The Facilities are somewhat dated throughout which is slightly noticeable; aside from that point my satisfaction level was high.
