However, the room specifications are somewhat limited, and while the water facilities are clean, they are minimal. Kinosaki is known for its public Onsen hopping, which I learned later. The best way to enjoy this accommodation might be to explore the local Onsen and sightseeing first, then relax in the lounge afterward.

Because we’d mostly visited southern Onsen towns such as Zao, Akayu, and Kaminoyama, this year we decided to head north and went to Hijiori, Semi, and Ginzan. Hijiori had come up as an option before, but I had somehow assumed it was a remote, quiet, minor Onsen area. I was surprised to find it’s a rare Onsen town these days that still has real energy. While Zao and Akayu have largely turned into shuttered streets and feel like each place is operating separately for its own target guests, Hijiori Onsen has a welcoming style where the whole town hosts visitors together. The shops were lively too—I was truly moved to see that the best of the Showa-era Onsen town atmosphere still remains. I believe Yushin no Yado is family-run with additional staff; everyone was kind and warm in their service, so we felt at ease throughout our stay. And we were amazed by both the quantity and quality of the meals! It was so lavish I thought my stomach might burst—packed with mountain delicacies. I wished I had a bigger appetite. I felt bad leaving anything uneaten, and when I saw someone at a nearby table being served an enormous watermelon, I nearly despaired. However, they were clearly paying attention to how quickly we were eating; since I eat slowly, they switched mine to a smaller portion for me, which impressed me. As a couple who don’t drink alcohol much at all, strongly seasoned dishes meant to pair with drinks are delicious but make us need lots of water; if possible, it would be helpful to receive a pitcher of cold water once it’s clear we won’t be ordering beverages. The saltiness makes us thirsty—we end up drinking a lot of water and getting full before finishing the wonderful food. The private reserved Onsen in the annex offered as a guest perk had different water quality from the main bath area (which made it fun). It seems this Accommodation borrows the bathhouse of an older Ryokan that is no longer operating; because it didn’t lock properly from inside (no key), it made us nervous. Still, enjoying another type of spring water was great.

This Accommodation left a strong impression with its attentive hospitality and warm smiles, and the meals were truly delicious. The tasty, well-balanced dishes were a delight at both dinner and breakfast. If I have the chance to visit Kirishima Onsen again, I would love to stay here again. Weekday stay for a family of four in two rooms. The room was spacious and clean for two people. Dinner was luxurious, with enough sashimi to fill you up—highly recommended for seafood lovers. Other dishes like sukiyaki, soup, and chawanmushi were also very delicious. The staff provided friendly and attentive service with smiles, though having a menu would have been nice. For the bath, caution is needed as the large public bath's tub can be slippery. The outdoor bath was slightly lukewarm. Access to the rooftop open-air bath requires calling the front desk beforehand, so it’s best to make an early reservation as late-night or early-morning visits might inconvenience the staff (I regret not asking if multiple time slots could be reserved). However, if it's clear, you can enjoy stunning views of sunsets or starry skies from there—it’s refreshing! I’d love to stay again if I get another chance. Thank you!

The room was very clean. While sound could sometimes carry, it didn’t bother me much. The onsen was very relaxing, and I happened to use it when no one else was there, so I enjoyed it privately. Breakfast was hearty, and the rice was delicious. I am very satisfied with this accommodation at this price! If I may add one suggestion, the pillow felt too high and fluffy for me; a lower option would be appreciated. Even with that in mind, this is an accommodation I would love to stay at again!

I booked this Ryokan two days before my trip to Atami. It is located near Kinomiya Station, which is within walking distance from Atami. The location was excellent, especially being just a few minutes' walk to Kinomiya Shrine. The room was a typical Ryokan style, offering an authentic experience. Although the angle of the room was slightly awkward, I could still catch a glimpse of the sea. This Ryokan also has table tennis facilities, which provided some simple yet enjoyable entertainment. The onsen bath was small but gave a nice onsen experience. However, there were no facial cleansers available, which might be inconvenient for women. I added breakfast to my stay and enjoyed bread, bananas, boiled eggs, fruits, and drinks. While simple in variety, having breakfast at the Ryokan added to the travel atmosphere nicely.

The free-flowing natural hot spring water overflowed generously, and it was wonderfully hot and relaxing. It’s located a little away from central Kusatsu, but I’m sensitive to noise, so I was thrilled to sleep soundly in the quiet. They provided Shuttle Service to the town center, so I could enjoy a beer without worrying about driving or parking. The facilities were clean, and the meals were delicious—I was completely full!

We stayed here for a family trip with four adults. The bathroom had only a shower and was not very clean. Toothbrushes were not included in the amenities. The Room was divided into two separate rooms, which was convenient. Everything except the bathroom was clean. It was spacious and comfortable.

Thank you for warmly welcoming us despite our late arrival after 8 PM (we had a breakfast-only plan). The room and onsen were very comfortable, and we felt completely refreshed. The breakfast was plentiful, and the staff provided excellent service. The water pressure in the bathroom faucet was weak, and it was difficult to adjust the temperature, so it would be great if this could be improved. While some of the facilities feel slightly dated, everything else was fine, and we had a very pleasant stay. We would love to stay again if we have another opportunity.

I stayed here on a trip to Arima Onsen. The parking lot is very far away, so it’s quite inconvenient without the Shuttle Service. The check-in and check-out locations are also separate, which was inconvenient, but the Facility is clean and Gin no Yu is within walking distance. It was great that I could walk to various places in the downtown area!

It was truly amazing! The staff were wonderful, the Room was clean, and the Onsen was fantastic! Nothing to complain about!

The night view was wonderful. The river-side Room was furnished in a Taisho-romantic style, beautifully coordinated, and the scenery was amazing. It felt like stepping into a mysterious world. Dinner was delicious as well. And the breakfast imoni soup(?) was really tasty. We also had lunch at Shirogane the next day, so it was a very filling trip. It’s a bit of an uphill walk, but the Onsen at Ginzanso was great too! You can hear footsteps and voices from the next Room or upstairs quite clearly. For me… it bothered me a little (well… quite a lot, haha). Ginzan Onsen is wonderful.

Full of Showa-era charm, both dinner and breakfast are delicious. The onsen is a natural hot spring with free-flowing water, making this accommodation perfect. Family-run, we had an enjoyable stay.

It is very quiet as it is slightly away from the main street. Although it was fully booked, the number of rooms was just right, providing a calm atmosphere unlike large hotels. The room was well-cleaned. The meals were delicious and satisfying, leaving me full. It would be nice to have an option for smaller portions. The bath had excellent water quality and ambiance. It was an accommodation I would like to stay at again.

There are some things that make you think "a bit off" as mentioned in the reviews, but considering the cost performance and being able to stay with my beloved dog, I personally think this is the best accommodation! It’s definitely one of the accommodations I’d love to visit again.

You can enjoy a view of Mount Yufu from the semi-open-air bath in the room. Although it was partially covered by clouds, it was still beautiful. The wooden parts of the room's floor showed some signs of aging, but everything seemed clean. We chose the most basic meal course and honestly didn’t expect much, but it was very delicious. The only disappointment was that only bottled beer was available; draft beer would have been a nice option.

In conclusion, we stayed with two meals included, and it was absolutely the right choice. This is Hoshidare Accommodation. From the compact exterior, you enter using the password sent in advance by email, and you’re greeted by a wonderful entrance with white gravel! There are handwritten message cards from the manager everywhere, and although you don’t meet anyone in person, it really feels like a warm welcome. The Room was just the right size, and it also had a washer-dryer and a humidifying air purifier. Amenities included loungewear, yukata robes, and bathrobes—and it was my first time ever having two bath towels per person. Meals are self-serve for heating and plating, so we fumbled a bit at first, but preparing everything while chatting was fun too. The presentation was gorgeous, and there was more than enough food. I was worried about how many drinks would be available, but there were plenty as well. They even put a name label on our bottle of sparkling wine. I was impressed by how delicious the tap water was—smooth with no harshness at all. The bath is an alkaline hot spring with free-flowing source water; it was so amazing that I went in again and again. The hair dryer is Dyson—definitely exciting—and they also provided various face masks and lotions. The good-quality ice cream after dinner was pure bliss. Even the main dish at breakfast—the homemade Sendai beef stewed curry—was incredibly delicious... Overall it was fantastic, so I’d absolutely like to stay again. If I had to mention one thing: the pre-stay email arrived late morning on the day before check-in, which made me worry whether my Reservation had gone through—but since the site clearly says they’ll email by the day before, it’s not an issue. Also, I wasn’t sure which plate to use for curry—I hesitated over that one! I definitely want to come back again.

I traveled with my son, and we were completely satisfied with the hospitality. If you have time, there seem to be various activities you can enjoy after check-in. (We checked in after 5:00 p.m., so we didn’t use them.) The restaurant food was excellent. It’s a buffet, but it covers most of Yamagata’s local specialties. The main dish—wood-fired Zao beef—really lets you taste the meat’s natural flavor, and it pairs perfectly with red wine. All-you-can-drink wine from Takeda Winery and Woody Farm was included, which was amazing. Even beer (Asahi and Heartland) was all-you-can-drink—what a surprise. Next time, I’d like to stay with my whole family. Thank you very much!
