In the wonderful space created by the owners, we were able to spend a truly relaxing and restorative time. Enjoying their thoughtfully prepared dishes—down to the seasonings—paired with local sake and served in locally made tableware was a real luxury... The journey there, transferring between local trains and buses, also became a memorable part of our trip. We would love to visit again someday in a different season. Thank you very much for such a lovely time.

This is a perfect Accommodation no matter when you visit. It was Kyoto in extreme heat, but thanks to your thoughtful care in many ways, we had a wonderful time. The pike conger is a must in this season; it is an additional-order dish, but highly recommended. We are planning to visit again in autumn.

The female staff member at reception during check-in impressed me with her proactive, exemplary hospitality. I stay at Hotels for a change of pace, and this Hotel made me feel at ease in every way—facilities, staff, and overall comfort—with no small discomforts. It was part of the Plan, but I gladly took them up on it and stayed for 24 hours. At reception, they said, “Please let us know if there is anything you need,” showing a positive attitude. At the restaurant as well: “Please relax and enjoy your stay.” They even asked, “Did you sleep well?” You don’t often hear that elsewhere. It had been a while since I stayed at a major international chain Hotel, and their training truly showed. The Room design is also charming. I can see why it’s popular with guests from both Japan and abroad.

I chose this Accommodation for my boyfriend’s birthday trip. It was my first stay here, and it far exceeded my expectations. Above all, the staff’s service was truly outstanding, and I was moved by every thoughtful gesture. The property has the charming presence of a grand traditional Japanese house, and the garden is beautifully maintained. We enjoyed a luxurious time dining at a relaxed pace while looking out over the garden. The basashi (horse sashimi) in particular was the best I’ve ever had—absolutely unforgettable. The Room was spacious and spotless, very comfortable, and the view from the window was wonderful. The building also has delightful surprises and playful touches that even first-time guests can enjoy, which kept me excited throughout our stay. They also offer an excellent selection of sake, so I especially recommend this Accommodation to sake lovers. It was one of the most memorable places I’ve ever stayed—completely satisfying in every way. I will definitely return.

This is my fourth stay. I love the semi-open-air bath in the Room, and the food is flawless. Above all, what’s truly wonderful is that every staff member welcomes you with a genuine smile. Their words feel warm and heartfelt, never routine. The perfectly renovated interior is spotless, with stylish Scandinavian-style furniture—pure relaxation at its best. I definitely want to come back again next year.

Although it was my first time trying zazen meditation, sutra copying, and morning prayers, the clear guidance helped me ease into everything smoothly. The thoughtfully prepared shojin ryori (Buddhist vegetarian cuisine) was truly delicious and deeply moving. The Room and Facility were also clean and comfortable. I felt refreshed by the soothing atmosphere that embodies the spirit of Japan, and even now after returning home, I still feel renewed.

We stayed here as a couple during the Obon holidays. Even though it was the hottest time of midsummer, Tenkawa Village was wonderfully cool—a top summer retreat in Kansai where we could stay comfortable without using the Room air conditioner and without breaking a sweat. We had long admired the charm of Dorogawa Onsen and had wanted to stay there at least once, and choosing Hanaya Tokubei was absolutely the right decision. The whole town has a lovely atmosphere, but Tokubei stands out for its especially distinctive and tasteful building. Because there are few guest Rooms with private indoor baths in the area, we stayed in “Higashi no Tenku” with an indoor bath. The view is mostly of the courtyard, so if you are used to resort-style Onsen facilities it may not exceed expectations. Still, considering this is traditionally an Accommodation used by ascetics, we felt it was a true luxury and enjoyed it. The meals were delicious Japanese cuisine featuring plenty of local ingredients, with thoughtful touches throughout that kept our Multiple Night Stay from ever feeling repetitive. We were completely full but couldn’t bear to leave anything behind—and finished every last bite. Spending time on the veranda at dusk with a beer in hand while watching people pass by was simply wonderful. After sunset, strolling around the area in yukata is also great fun. Wherever you walk, the lantern lights feel magical, and Tokubei lends out portable lanterns as well. It was like stepping back into a period drama. There were also foreign staff members, and they were genuinely kind and attentive—we truly appreciated it. This is an Accommodation we would love to visit again. Highly recommended if you are sightseeing in Dorogawa Onsen.

We stayed at this Accommodation on our first trip as three generations of our family because in-room dining was available. It’s close to the station, and both the exterior and the lobby were very clean, giving us a great impression at check-in. The proprietress and all the staff were truly kind and provided warm, thoughtful service. The Room, meals, bath, and service were all excellent—we were completely satisfied with this Hotel. Above all, the hand towels had such a wonderful fragrance that we even asked the proprietress about it at check-out. It was a deeply relaxing trip that we enjoyed immensely.

It was a truly satisfying day in every way. All four private Onsens were wonderful, and we enjoyed them right up until one hour before check-out. We were also happy with the wide variety of complimentary drinks available at any time. Of course, every dish was delicious, and we especially appreciated the strong local character of the cuisine. This is an Accommodation we would love to visit again as soon as possible.

We stayed as a couple with our 0-year-old baby. From check-in, they took a photo of the three of us and provided toys for our child. At dinner, our child got sleepy, and when we asked for a floor cushion, they kindly brought one right away. During the koto performance, they even played children’s songs, and our daughter seemed to really enjoy it. Traveling with a child can be challenging from the very start when choosing an Accommodation, but everyone was truly kind to us. Thanks to them, we had a wonderful time. Thank you very much.

We returned to Koyokaku for the first time in a year. When it comes to Ureshino, Koyokaku is our favorite Accommodation as a couple. This time we stayed in a twin Room with a private indoor Onsen bath, and being able to enjoy the Onsen anytime is truly luxurious. For dinner, we enjoyed grilled Saga beef, colorful salads, and sashimi until we were completely full. After that, we took a relaxing walk together—something we don’t often do in everyday life—and realized again that this special time was possible thanks to this Accommodation. We were able to rest comfortably as well. Breakfast was just as wonderful: Onsen tofu, salad with roast beef, grilled fish, an Onsen egg, and rice porridge with six different toppings—such a luxury, and everything tasted amazing. This trip was another fantastic one. Thank you very much to all the staff for your kind hospitality again. We will definitely visit again.

The Onsen water has a silky, soothing quality and feels wonderful, but above all, the kids’ room was fantastic. Our 3-year-old grandchild loves it and had fun the entire time again on this visit. Seeing that happy smile is the best gift for us grandparents. This is our third stay this year, and we also have a Reservation for December 31 at year-end.

The hospitality felt more like a luxury Ryokan than a temple lodging. Our Room was upgraded to a special suite, and we were able to relax in the spacious “Hojo” Room overlooking an expansive garden. The shojin-ryori cuisine was beautifully presented and delicious throughout. After dinner, we took a short walk (about 3 minutes) to Danjo Garan. With bonfires lit and the area illuminated, we caught a glimpse of Kobo Daishi’s mandala world through sights such as Konpon Daito, Saito Pagoda, and Kondo Hall. The next morning, we joined the morning service from 6:00 a.m., which felt truly solemn and moving. The Dharma talk by Archbishop Miyata explained Buddhism from a global perspective with humor, making it easy to understand. I strongly feel that Koyasan is best experienced with an overnight stay. Even though I don’t swim in the sea, I travel solo year-round in search of gourmet Accommodations near the coast (for the food and scenery). I was delighted to be upgraded to a sea-view Room. It was a Japanese-style Room, but it also had a leather sofa and ottoman, so I could stretch out and relax while gazing at the ocean. When I woke up around 5:00, I was able to watch a beautiful sunrise from the Room. There is a calm inner-sea beach right in front of the Accommodation, and there are showers as well—great for families with small children. The meals were outstanding, featuring an abundance of local specialties. My main goal was Wakasa-guji (tilefish), but it was even more delicious than I imagined—the Wakasa-guji ochazuke was exceptional. And the Matsunaga rice was unbelievably good (probably the best I’ve ever had). I didn’t use the public bath and used the shower in my Room instead, but I loved that the shampoo and conditioner were Hokurokusousui—one of my favorite brands—and it helped me relax. Recently there have been more Accommodations renovated from wooden buildings, but some noise—voices and footsteps—is unavoidable. You can often hear children as well. It’s not exactly quiet. However, more than making up for that, I felt each staff member’s hospitality and way of interacting with guests was wonderful. In particular: the woman with glasses who assisted me at check-in; the woman at breakfast (I’m sorry—I forgot your name); and one of the male staff members who kindly gave me helpful advice for sightseeing in Obama after check-out. Thanks to them, it became more than just an overnight stay—I had a chance to learn even more about Obama, making this trip extremely satisfying. I heard that midwinter is especially good for grouper, pufferfish, and Echizen crab. As transportation access improves from here on out, this will be an Accommodation you’ll want to visit even more. Next time it would be perfect if I could borrow a firmer pillow!! Please make that happen on my next visit!! (I can’t sleep if a pillow doesn’t suit me.) Relax in the Onsen, enjoy delicious meals, soak your feet in the footbath while drinking milk, and take your time admiring the stunning view through the large window from the Room. It was truly wonderful. The food was excellent; every dish was prepared with care by the head chef, and even the tableware was beautiful. The course meal came in just the right portions, and everything tasted great. The breakfast buffet was also all handmade with rich, thoughtful flavors. The Onsen was clean and well maintained, and I went in many times. The staff service was outstanding as well. Their spirit of hospitality showed even in the smallest details, and the service was excellent. My companion was very satisfied too. I felt it’s a Hotel where adults can relax and enjoy a luxurious stay. The 4.6-star rating wasn’t a lie. Unfortunately we couldn’t see Mt. Fuji this time, so I’ll visit again. It was also amazing to lie down and watch the clouds move through a picture-frame-like window. It really is a great Hotel.

I chose this Accommodation for its free-flowing Onsen, and when I actually visited, I was truly impressed to see the hot water gushing out in abundance. There are two baths, Kaki-no-Yu and Momo-no-Yu, with Kaki-no-Yu being more spacious. At the entrance to the open-air bath at Momo-no-Yu, stones are laid out underfoot, giving a stimulating sensation on the soles of your feet that felt pleasantly painful. The meals were also delicious, with some dishes clearly prepared with great care. Our Room was on the third floor, and I wished there had been an elevator—but perhaps it was good exercise instead.

We had a comfortable stay. There were fewer tourists than expected, so it was quiet and relaxing. The parking area was spacious and easy to use. Thank you very much.

We stayed here as three generations, traveling with my parents-in-law. Before our stay, I contacted the Accommodation twice to ask whether our Rooms could be on the same floor, whether we could dine in the same venue, and about meals for the children. Both times, the staff responded courteously, which made us feel at ease on the day of arrival. As this is a long-established Ryokan, the building is not new, but it has a calm atmosphere that suited my parents-in-law perfectly. Some wallpaper in parts of the Room was peeling, and perhaps due to a special type of wallpaper there was some fuzz that seemed to float around, but overall the Room was relatively clean. The meals were kaiseki-style and just the right amount; our family enjoyed them very much. The staff also explained each dish carefully, making it a truly pleasant dining experience. There was also an excellent selection of alcoholic drinks. When traveling with children we often end up choosing buffet-style dining elsewhere, so it was a great experience for them to enjoy kaiseki cuisine as well. In the lounge, perhaps because it is open to non-staying guests too, all seats were taken at first; once seats became available they called our Room via internal phone so we could use it. We were able to spend relaxing time together as a family. As for the Onsen, there is nothing to complain about—the water quality was wonderful and the large public bath was clean. Overall, I felt that the high level of hospitality from all staff members is what drives guest satisfaction here. The Facility itself may not stand out compared with other Ryokan in every respect, but their hospitality more than makes up for it. Thank you very much.

We visited on a three-generation girls’ trip. The Room had been renovated and was very clean. The meals were excellent, both in presentation and in quality. The meal for our 3-year-old child was also of a very high standard. Above all, the hot spring water left our skin feeling wonderfully smooth. This is an Accommodation we would love to visit again in a different season.
