Stayed here during a motorcycle trip to Wakayama. I usually stay at business hotels or rider houses, but this accommodation offered breakfast and dinner at a great price, so I decided to try a traditional inn for the first time in decades. The accommodation and room are not modern, but they have a warm, nostalgic feel like visiting your grandmother's house. The shared bath is not an onsen, but it’s spacious enough for one person to stretch out comfortably. Towels were also provided. Dinner included fresh sashimi, fried dishes, and various small side dishes—more than enough! As expected from Owase, the sashimi was incredibly fresh and delicious! Breakfast was the quintessential Japanese morning meal—absolutely satisfying. The accommodation itself is perfect; however, if you rely on Google Maps for directions, it might lead you through unnecessary mountain paths and guide you to what looks like farmland in front of the inn. It’s better to call ahead and confirm the parking location beforehand. Especially if you're riding a large motorcycle like me—it can be extremely difficult to make a U-turn in such areas!

Close to the sea and local shops, it was a joy to stroll through the quiet village and truly relaxing. Dinner—appetizers, Agu pork shabu-shabu, and zenzai for dessert—was all delicious. Breakfast was wonderful as well. The warm smiles of the owner and his mother (?) made it even more special, turning this into an unforgettable trip. I fell in love with Ikei Island. I’d love to visit again someday.

I stayed on a weekday. The outdoor barbecue while listening to the sound of the stream flowing nearby became a special memory.

Due to the age of the facility, adjusting the shower temperature in the bathroom was difficult, and the bidet toilet did not provide warm water. However, the room was clean, the meals were delicious, and the accommodation cost was reasonable and satisfying.

I had business in Kure City, but there were no vacancies anywhere, so I stayed here for a Multiple Night Stay. I understood it was a dormitory-style accommodation, but it was beyond my expectations with mostly international guests. I also knew it was mixed-gender Rooms, but the ratio seemed to have more women, which made me feel a bit apologetic. If I were younger, I might have enjoyed some international exchange as well.

This was our first trip to Hakuba with my daughter, and we were very satisfied with this accommodation. With only four rooms, each uniquely designed, we chose the "Condo" room this time. The room featured beautiful interior design, offering a luxurious and private experience. My daughter was delighted as well. For us, the enjoyment of a trip heavily depends on the accommodation's room and meals, and Kunugi exceeded all expectations with its hospitality and cleanliness. One of the highlights was the bath facilities—three options including indoor baths and an outdoor Asian-style bath that required a reservation. The outdoor bath had a tropical resort vibe where we could relax while enjoying views of the garden. It was so pleasant that I ended up using it twice—once in the evening and again in the morning. Dinner consisted of a full-course menu featuring fish and meat dishes that were casual yet delicious. The French toast served at breakfast was also excellent, which made my daughter very happy once again. Having stayed at many hotels or ryokans before, I believe accommodations like Kunugi—with its originality and exceptional hospitality—are rare to find. While winter is likely their peak season due to increased demand, visiting during off-season periods like now through autumn offers more reasonable rates. Summer in Hakuba feels like experiencing Japan’s traditional landscapes—a truly unique region worth visiting. We will definitely return for another stay! The owner was incredibly kind—a wonderful host—and even provided shuttle service for us. Thank you so much for making this summer trip such an unforgettable experience!

The staff provided very kind service, and the Room was the closest to the front desk. Despite arriving early, we were allowed to check in, and since we brought our own food and drinks, we could enjoy a barbecue from an early time. The sunset view from the oceanfront was breathtaking. The Room was also cute and stylish, making it a very satisfying stay.

I was a bit anxious traveling solo during Golden Week, but I had a very comfortable stay in the spacious Room. I enjoyed both the Fu Chanpuru set dinner and breakfast, and the rice was especially delicious. With the beach and village nearby, my morning walk felt wonderful. There were face masks in the Room, which were gentle on my sunburned skin—I really appreciated the thoughtful touch. I was also glad to be able to borrow a muumuu. I’d love to come again.

We stayed with a group of 7 at this accommodation. It is a nostalgic traditional Japanese house, but the owner's renovation skills truly stood out, making our stay very enjoyable. Although there were time restrictions, we had fun with outdoor BBQs and campfires at the outdoor BBQ area. The facility also offers indoor options like smokeless roasters for BBQs, hot pots, or takoyaki parties. We look forward to trying these during our next stay! The indoor camping space (kids' space) is designed like a sunken earthen floor area within the building, creating an open and spacious atmosphere with its high ceiling. Being an old-style house, we were initially concerned about drafts or cold temperatures indoors; however, those worries proved unnecessary. The large stove, kotatsu table heater, air conditioning units, and other heating facilities kept us warm and comfortable throughout our stay! If there's one minor point to mention—it was sometimes unclear where guests could access freely since there were no clear signs such as "Staff Only" or "No Entry." Occasionally opening doors led to storage areas or spaces under renovation. Overall though, it was a wonderful experience where we could relax freely without any concerns. Next time we'd love to try staying at their related accommodations YADO2 or YADO3 (scheduled for completion this summer).

We stayed here as a family. The exterior and interior were stylish, and it was very comfortable. We had two 1-year-old children who enjoyed running around. The location was excellent, with the beach just a short walk away. We also used the grill for a BBQ. It was nice that plastic wrap and aluminum foil were provided, but when we went to use the aluminum foil, it was empty. Other than that, we were very satisfied with our stay. It was very clean, comfortable, and a great stay. The kids were very happy to be able to play table tennis and darts. We have another trip next year, so we’d love to stay here again!

This was my first time staying at The Villa Hotels. The building was very clean, and all the appliances were new. I brought my own seasonings and pajamas in advance, so I had no inconvenience during my stay. Additionally, there was floor heating, making the room comfortable even on a cold day. We chose this Accommodation because smoking is allowed while sightseeing in Amanohashidate. Both the owner and his wife were friendly and warm, and the Accommodation in the detached building had a wonderful Room where we stayed very comfortably. There is a pine-lined path within walking distance, so we enjoyed an evening stroll at dusk, and the next morning we visited Motoise Kono Shrine before heading to Ine’s boathouses. Although our stay was short, we were able to forget everyday life and spend a relaxing time. It was such a satisfying trip that we would like to visit again in another season. Thank you very much.

We stayed here with our 2-year-old child and family for the Kushimoto Fireworks Festival on August 2nd! On this day, accommodations in Kushimoto and Shirahama were all expensive, and we almost gave up on attending the festival this year. But then we found this place and were amazed by its affordability! After reading high reviews on other sites, we decided to book here. We arrived early on the day of our stay, but they kindly allowed us to check in early! The room was cool with the air conditioner already running, spacious, clean, and comfortable! It had a refrigerator, microwave, and kettle in the room so we could heat up our bento meals right after arriving. To our surprise, the fridge was stocked with complimentary drinks like juice and tea—such a thoughtful touch ( ; ; )! After playing at the beach, we took a shower and used their drum washing machine for laundry—drying included—and then took a short nap before heading to the fireworks festival. Even though we returned late that night, they waited for us so that we could take another shower before falling fast asleep in bed. In the morning, they served bread, yogurt, meatballs, bananas, vegetable juice, and coffee for breakfast. We also enjoyed chatting with the owner—it was such fun! Later that day when friends joined us with their family car as well (which they kindly let us park), we went river swimming nearby. The river was beautiful; even locals came there to swim! Before leaving for home after taking group photos together with everyone there—we promised to come back again soon! For families traveling with young children like ours (2 years old), having a spacious Japanese-style room along with amenities like baths & washing machines made everything so convenient! The owner’s kindness truly stood out—we’ll definitely stay here again next time!

I stayed at the accommodation for the Anori Fugu course, and every dish was truly delicious and impressive. The service was excellent, and I was comforted by the kindness of the hostess. When leaving, they saw me off until my car departed and even prepared tea, which was a very thoughtful gesture. It was a warm accommodation that left a lasting impression, making me want to visit again.

We stayed here during Golden Week as a couple. The Room was very simple, in a traditional inn with no bath or toilet. The bath was relatively large for this type of Accommodation, with a washing area. Up to that point, it felt like a 3-star class Accommodation. But dinner was so impressive it made us forget all of that! Grilled Hida beef and salt-grilled char! Each person also had their own serving of sashimi, plus a full selection of tempura made with locally harvested mountain vegetables! There was plenty of delicious rice in the wooden tub, and we were served many other dishes such as yuba (tofu skin) and firefly squid! Breakfast was also beautifully presented on a traditional tray in an old-house style—overall, definitely 5 stars! We were very satisfied!
