Reading other reviews, I saw that the food was highly praised. Although I usually choose accommodations with no meals included to enjoy local cuisine, this time I stayed at Souan with dinner and breakfast included. The meals did not disappoint and were truly delicious. Since I often visit Hakone, my companion and I talked about trying lunch here next time. I'll definitely visit again!

Dinner was outstanding! The flounder sashimi came as a whole fish, incredibly fresh and nicely fatty—very satisfying. Above all, the abalone was amazing. You get a medium-sized abalone grilled with butter; it was so fresh (lightly grilled while still alive) and had absolutely no off smell from the innards. It may have been the best abalone I’ve ever had. The meat isn’t exactly premium, but it tasted great and exceeded expectations. The Room and Onsen are honestly pretty standard (lol), but for our family, being able to sleep comfortably is all we need—no complaints at all. Breakfast is a typical menu, but just like dinner, the ingredients are high quality, so we were more than satisfied. I’d recommend this Accommodation to anyone who’s mainly coming for the food!

It was an affordable stay, but it was disappointing that there was no TV.

A whole-house rental Accommodation in a designated Tangible Cultural Property. The place was spotless, the futons were fluffy and comfortable, and it was a relaxing space. It was very cozy. I rated the bath 3 because I didn’t use it. The bath seemed to have no issues at all in terms of size, but we love saunas, so we used a nearby day-use bathing Facility instead. It was a valuable experience that let us feel Japan’s good old days. Thank you very much.

This was my first stay here. I felt the room was well cleaned. As a Business Hotel, I would consider staying again next time.

The sashimi—super fresh abalone, spiny lobster, sea bream, and turban shell—was outstanding. It was sliced to order and incredibly lively! The simmered rockfish and deep-fried flounder were also exquisite. Even the rice was delicious. Every dish was perfectly seasoned, and the meal was a true feast that left us completely full.\n\nThe building has a charming retro Showa-era feel, and it was spotlessly cleaned throughout, which made our stay very comfortable. The TV, air conditioner, air purifier, hair dryer, and other appliances are all modern. The washroom and toilets are shared but clean and equipped with bidet seats. We were able to use the shared refrigerator in the hallway.\n\nThe bath was spacious and clean as well. The friendly proprietress—an active ama diver—chatted with us warmly, making our stay even more enjoyable. I’ve already recommended this place to friends and my siblings’ families. We would love to visit again. Thank you very much.

Pros: Great location for sightseeing, free parking, spacious Room, the air conditioning was turned on to match our check-in time, clean bathroom, and the steel-framed windows looked stylish. Cons: The light switches were hard to find, the refrigerator didn’t cool very well, the check-in process was confusing, and the bed was on the firm side. We could hear voices and snoring from other Rooms, but once we fell asleep it didn’t bother us. Since we brought bicycles, it wasn’t an issue that the convenience store was a bit far. It had a different vibe from a typical Hotel—fresh and comfortable to stay in.

I was looking for accommodation on the same day. The room had a retro Showa-era vibe. The entire town felt like a retro Showa-era setting, making it feel like I had time-traveled. It was the kind of room that could appear in a Tora-san movie. Thank you very much!

The extension cord provided was very helpful. There was plenty of parking, and having many shops nearby was convenient. Breakfast was a great value for the price.

We had an absolutely wonderful time. Both the grandchildren and our dog seemed to enjoy themselves, which made us very happy. The garden was spacious, the facility was clean, and everything was well-maintained. Staying at Hauoli was incredibly satisfying. Thank you so much! We look forward to staying again next time.

The wood-burning stove was a real winter highlight. With the seasonal snowfall, we were able to enjoy a truly magical atmosphere. The BBQ gazebo was very cold, but it was spacious and had sunken seating like a kotatsu, so we could relax and enjoy ourselves. The bed in the bedroom was comfortable, and it was nice to have a side table next to it. I gave the bath 4 stars because it felt a bit small—though that’s probably because I’m big; I think it would be fine for women and children. Also, on the last morning (maybe due to freezing), there was no hot water. Since I take a quick shower in the morning as well as at night, that part was a little disappointing. As for the Facility rating of 4 stars, I think it can’t really be helped: the firewood for the stove was quite thin, so we had to add logs frequently or it seemed like it might go out. Also, one of the gazebo cushions was thin (my hips started to hurt), while another one was large and thick—I wish they were both the same size. That said, everything else—the view, atmosphere, wood-burning stove, BBQ gazebo, and bedroom-was excellent. I’d love to visit again. Thank you!

I stayed for multiple nights. The room was undeniably old, but it was clean and I was able to stay comfortably. The customer service was impeccable, and they kindly answered even small questions, which was very nice. Regarding the hot springs, there were many times when the priority hours for guests felt like private times, and I thoroughly enjoyed them. However, during the hours when day-trippers also used the facilities, there were people constantly in the sauna, which made it difficult to use, and that was the only disappointment. As for the meals, I only used the restaurant once, so I will refrain from evaluating it. However, the service was good, the price was reasonable, and the food was delicious. What concerned me was that the WiFi either didn't connect at all or disconnected immediately after connecting, making it unusable, and the dilapidated state of the area outside the facility was quite noticeable. There seemed to be many areas around the golf course that were not being used, and perhaps they couldn't keep up with maintenance, as there were places where the grass was overgrown, making it look like a ruin, which is a shame. I don't mind such things, so I enjoyed it, but I wouldn't recommend it to others. It's a pity that there are no places to relax outdoors despite the beautiful nature, so I think it would be nice if it could become a small park or something. Also, although it's unavoidable, it's unfortunate that the hiking trails are closed due to bear sightings. Overall, it's perfect for those who come to enjoy the facilities, but those who also want to explore or hike should be cautious. I will visit again.

Although it is small, the family-run Accommodation offers friendly, welcoming service, and we felt very comfortable throughout our stay. It does feel a bit dated in places, but the renovated private open-air bath and the Room (with a large TV) were excellent, and the meals were beautifully presented—we were completely satisfied. It’s an Accommodation we’d love to return to. If I had to mention one thing, it would have been even better if we could use that open-air bath in the morning as well.

It was very good. Above all, the service felt warm and genuine. The bath was a little small, but overall I’m satisfied.

I chose this place as I needed to leave early the next morning. In one word: impeccable. From the prior communication to the meals, cleanliness, and every service provided, everything was handled with meticulous care. I had an extremely comfortable stay.

I stayed in the women-only dormitory. My bed was the top bunk of a bunk bed, and it was higher than I expected, so climbing up and down was difficult. If I could choose, I would have preferred a lower bunk. One thing that concerned me was that the shower room entrance was separated only by a noren curtain... I would have liked it to have a lock. Also, there was someone sleeping (a man?) in the free space right in front of the dormitory Room, and I couldn’t tell whether he was a guest or not, so I was surprised when I passed by late at night. All the staff were kind, which made my stay comfortable. Breakfast was very delicious, and I appreciated the free drinks as well. If I visit Furano again, I would like to stay here again.

The sunset and sunrise were absolutely wonderful. The Onsen was also very nice. Even after we got close to the Accommodation, we couldn’t find it and had to look around. Since the Accommodation wasn’t listed on our car’s navigation system, we asked a local and were able to find it.

We stayed with three families (seven people). It was very convenient, right in front of Kanazawa Castle and within walking distance of Omicho Market. There was a 7-Eleven and a bakery very close by, which we used for breakfast (the bakery was really delicious). The view from the Room was excellent, and we would like to stay here again when traveling with a large group.

Booked for a special occasion, attracted by the mist sauna. ① Both dinner and breakfast were very generous in portions and delicious. ② The four outdoor baths and the Löyly sauna were accessible when available, but the sauna was often occupied, which was a bit disappointing. ③ The staff at reception and during meal service were very polite and attentive. ④ The all-you-can-drink beverage bar available anytime was a great bonus. ⑤ The mist sauna in the Room was incredibly relaxing. Overall, there wasn’t anything particularly negative or unsatisfactory. Just lots of bugs due to midsummer—haha! It turned out to be a wonderful anniversary stay!
