I booked this ryokan for my in-laws’ trip, as I had previously given it to my mother as a gift and she absolutely loved it. They said everything was outstanding—the beautiful interior, the meals, and the baths. In particular, my parents-in-law live relatively nearby, but they were amazed to discover such a wonderful ryokan so close to home. We will definitely stay here again when visiting Shimane. Thank you once again for a truly wonderful time!

Though it is a small inn, everything was perfectly arranged with nothing lacking—truly wonderful. The hot spring was always at the ideal temperature no matter when we entered; thank you to the bath attendant. Thank you as well for kindly accommodating our requests. The meals were excellent, and the attendant was experienced, making us feel comfortable leaving everything in their hands. We would love to return. Thank you very much.

We stayed here on a birthday trip to Kusatsu. We chose this ryokan for its proximity to Yubatake, the in-room open-air bath, and the delicious meals—and it exceeded our expectations! All of the staff were consistently courteous and made us feel truly welcome. Thank you very much. As for the baths, we were able to enjoy three different hot springs in the private open-air baths, and we had a wonderful time just the two of us. All of these open-air baths were spotless and thoughtfully designed. Personally, my favorite was the open-air bath in our room—the cool outside air and warm hot spring water were perfectly balanced, and I ended up soaking for a long time. The room was bright and cozy with sunlight streaming through the large windows. Everything was impeccably clean—not a speck of dust or litter anywhere. The futon bedding was fluffy and fresh, making me want to stay in bed forever. Every dish was delicious—exactly what you’d expect from such a place. We started the morning feeling great and completely satisfied. My favorites were the Japanese rolled omelet (atsuyaki tamago) and grilled Pacific saury with sweet soy glaze (sanma kabayaki). One of the best parts of Kusatsu Onsen is strolling around Yubatake in yukata, and I loved being able to choose from three different yukata styles—it really lifted my mood. They also lent us sandals that were comfortable enough to wear outside, so we could explore without getting tired. It was incredibly helpful. Staying at such a wonderful ryokan full of hospitality became a truly special memory. Thank you very much.

My wife and I stayed here as a reward after work. Everything was wonderful—the butler service, the food, and the atmosphere. The early evening with a hint of autumn and the refreshing mornings were both amazing. Staying for about two nights would be perfect. Next time, I’d like to try another Room as well. Thank you—my wife was very satisfied too. The meat miso we received was so good we couldn’t stop eating rice.

I stayed here during a temporary return to Japan from overseas. It’s a wonderful property surrounded by nature. The staff’s hospitality, the room, the bath, and the meals were all excellent, and I was able to truly relax for the first time in a while—it was a very comfortable stay. We even had a surprise visit from squirrels on the terrace. Highly recommended, and I’d love to visit again.

We stayed here on a family trip to celebrate my husband’s 70th birthday. The room was more than spacious enough, and the furnishings were lovely. The in-room bath was also very large, and with the windows wide open it felt like an open-air bath, so we could soak and relax at our leisure. The food was delicious across the board, but the salt-grilled ayu (sweetfish) and the wagyu beef fillet cutlet were especially outstanding. One member of our party has allergies, and they asked for details in advance and prepared alternative dishes for the items concerned, so we could dine with peace of mind. After letting them know about the birthday celebration, they were very considerate regarding both the dining setting and menu, and staff members also offered congratulatory words—my husband looked truly happy. We were able to unwind completely throughout our stay, making it a wonderful celebration. Thank you very much to all of the staff.

Each of the five private open-air baths has its own unique charm, and I managed to try four of them. The lush green trees viewed from the open-air bath were truly rejuvenating. The buffet meals were also delicious. I’d like to visit again when I have time.

Unfortunately, it was raining, but towels were provided in front of the front desk, and I was impressed by how thoughtful that was. The hotel is close to the station, and the bath was great. After bathing, I enjoyed some ice cream while taking in the beautiful view. The late-night soba was excellent, and breakfast was also very delicious. I would love to stay again if I have the chance. Located by the harbor, the detached guest Room was quiet and relaxing. The open-air bath in the Room was also very comfortable. The cuisine was excellent and truly enjoyable, starting with deep-fried tuna collar. We could also feel the staff’s attentiveness, and we had a pleasant stay.

We’d been looking forward to staying here because of its great reputation for food. Every dish was carefully prepared, and the homemade sweet bean paste in the dessert was lightly sweet and delicious. We wanted to eat it again, so we made a Reservation for November. At the large public bath “Kawa-no-Yu,” you can enjoy natural hot spring water while watching goldfish. There is also a private bath on the 3rd floor of the main building. You can also use the private baths at the annex Tamaya, making this Accommodation perfect for amazing food and Onsen!

Not only were the baths great, but the food—while not flashy—was delicious, and it has improved a lot compared to long ago. The view from the room is still wonderful. All of the staff were kind as well.

We were a family of five and had booked the Touji building, but thank you for arranging a nearby Room for us. The toilet was a bit far, which was slightly inconvenient, but considering the price, it didn’t bother us at all. The meals were more luxurious and delicious than we expected. The staff in the lobby were also kind and helpful, which made us feel at ease. The Onsen, of course, left our skin feeling smooth, so it was well worth traveling all this way.

This was our second stay at Sekiyo. We were upgraded from Taikan and were able to stay in Kangetsuan. It was our first time in a detached guest room, and it was very quiet. From time to time, small birds came to the tree by the window, and my spouse and I were able to relax at a leisurely pace. We also fully enjoyed both the indoor bath and the open-air bath. The meals were wonderful—there were so many dishes that we couldn’t finish them all, and everything was delicious. The attentive service from the room attendant was excellent as well, and we would love to visit Sekiyo again.

We visited Kinosaki Onsen on a family trip. Since it was a special occasion, we stayed at Mikiya to experience the atmosphere of Naoya Shiga’s “At Kinosaki.” The location is a bit deeper into the Onsen town, and the roads from the station to the Ryokan are generally narrow, so if you are driving, extra caution is needed during busy pedestrian hours. Compared with the lively street outside, the Accommodation itself was quiet, and we had a very relaxing time. The indoor bath is compact, but I personally found it very comfortable. You can also enjoy the public baths around town, so I recommend trying several. The meals were delicious and just the right amount. The staff were attentive as well—overall, it was a wonderfully quiet Ryokan with great character.

For those used to city life surrounded by man-made structures, the sweeping rural scenery and the gentle fragrance of seasonal flowers feel like a feast for the heart. This is how “luxury” quietly spreads through every part of you. Above all, the greatest luxury is meeting the wonderful staff. From welcome to farewell, their flawless yet heartfelt hospitality soothes you in every moment—it’s true healing. We always look forward to our conversations with everyone here. Before each stay, it has become our tradition to visit Niutsuhime Shrine—a UNESCO World Heritage Site about five minutes away by car. This time, we joined a talk held from 5:00 PM in the lobby lounge about Niutsuhime Shrine. The storyteller shared fascinating behind-the-scenes stories that only someone closely connected to the shrine could tell; before we knew it, around 30 minutes had flown by. The next day after checkout, we visited Niutsuhime Shrine again and also explored nearby historic spots we learned about during the talk. It allowed us to worship from a completely new perspective—and we discovered power spots we never would have found on our own. The traditional house café near the shrine that was recommended to us was also wonderful, making this trip even more meaningful than ever! We heard these talks will continue on an irregular basis—if one happens during your stay, we highly recommend joining. We also heard that on some days there is a guided visit starting at 7:00 AM (meeting at the lobby lounge) for worship at Niutsuhime Shrine. No matter how many seasons pass or how much time goes by, this is a place we want to return to again and again. It’s truly a blissful hotel—so full of happiness that it feels impossible to find anywhere else!

We had a wonderful time in a very clean room with excellent facilities. The meal was also delicious—a meat-themed kaiseki course that felt refreshingly different from typical ryokan cuisine. The location, in the Higashiyama area, was another highlight, making it easy to explore around Kiyomizu-dera in the morning.

Thank you very much for having us. The Accommodation was spotless, and everything—from the beautiful pool and dog run to the sauna—was perfect. There were plenty of toys for our dog to choose from, and he was thrilled. It was his first time using a pool, but there was also a life jacket for dogs, so he could make his debut in a safe environment. Above all, the owner was incredibly pleasant and supportive. We requested a BBQ set at short notice, and they kindly accommodated us. They also recommended nearby markets, which helped us enjoy our meals as well. Even though it was only one night, it was a very satisfying stay. Early check-in and late check-out are rare at other places, so that was extremely helpful. Most of all, seeing our dog relaxed and happy throughout made us truly happy. We would love to stay again! Thank you very much.

We stayed here as a couple. The entire concept is centered on enjoying alcohol, and it was immensely satisfying. From the moment we arrived, everything was explained at the bar counter while we enjoyed a welcome drink, which immediately built our excitement. Dinner was wonderfully composed using local ingredients, and the drinks to pair with each course were thoughtfully presented alongside the menu. We fully enjoyed both red and white wine as well as sake to our heart’s content. After dinner, we took a walk to Yubatake, and then at the bar we had a nostalgic Bowmore and an espresso martini for the first time—an excellent digestif. The hinoki in-room bath (hot spring), outstanding drinks and cuisine, and our first trip to Kusatsu became an irreplaceable memory. We would love to visit again.
