It had been unbearably hot for so long that I didn’t feel like going anywhere, but I thought a hotel staycation would be enjoyable, so I decided to make a Reservation. The chilled hand towels on arrival and the ice-filled ice bucket provided during turndown were thoughtful touches—especially appreciated in summer. It was also my first time trying lounge hopping, and I miscalculated by eating too much and ending up uncomfortably full at dinner… Still, I enjoyed strolling around the garden inside the Hotel and had a very satisfying stay.

Until now I had always chosen Old Karuizawa, but this was my first stay at Mikage Yosui. 1. Service: As always, very dog-friendly. Not only are the staff wonderful, but communication among guests also feels natural and pleasant. 2. Dining: The French dinner is thoughtfully composed—for example, the appetizer salad combines fresh vegetables with dried fruit for a great change in texture. The French toast available to order separately at breakfast is outstanding. The yogurt is so delicious you’ll want to order it again for home delivery. The freshly baked bread is also excellent. 3. Facilities: Aside from the private garden, the rooms feel simple, with a similar layout and orientation. Because everything is tiled, even if a previous guest’s dog had an accident, odors don’t linger and it doesn’t bother you. As other reviews mention, access to the waterway and the parking area is convenient as well. At the Old Karuizawa property there is heavy traffic on the road in front, so you need to be careful when walking your dog; here you can stroll along the waterway instead. Unfortunately it rained that day, but with light rain there’s an advantage—the trees help keep you from getting wet. Overall, this is a well-balanced property that I highly recommend.

We had a truly wonderful stay. Not only the Room, but also the bathroom and balcony were spacious, allowing us to relax at ease. The hinoki bathtub had a lovely fragrance, and the public bath was just the right size for unwinding comfortably. We enjoyed delicious offerings during afternoon tea and aperitif time, and the Western-style dinner made excellent use of quality ingredients with wonderful seasoning—every dish was satisfying. We would love to visit again just for this dining experience. Thanks to the attentive service from the staff, we truly felt this is a superb Hotel. Thank you very much.

I stay here frequently. I always feel relaxed thanks to the hospitality, meals, Room, and Onsen. The meals are very delicious—so much so that I end up overeating. The Room is also great: it’s comfortable for working and comes with an Onsen, making it perfect for a refreshing break. I will definitely stay again.

I stayed again last month—this must be around my fifth visit. Thank you as always. It’s such a quiet inn that I can truly relax. I usually book the plan without dinner. Lately I’ve been eating only a little in the evenings, so I don’t add it, but if there were a simple hot-spring “healing” set meal (something like soup and three small dishes), I’d love to try it (a bit of a luxury request). It was a stay-at-the-inn trip, but this time my room supported Netflix (maybe it did before as well?), so I was able to watch an entire drama series I’d been wanting to see!! That was really appreciated. I love hot springs and travel several times a month around eastern Japan—from Aomori down through Nagano and Yamanashi—and this place is by far my favorite right now. You can really feel how sincerely this inn is run (maybe that’s because I’m a business owner myself). Everything is extremely clean, and I heard the baths are cleaned daily. The rooms are old but renovated, the bathroom areas are comfortable, and of course the hot spring water is free-flowing. There’s plenty of it too—such a luxury. Since I try to visit during quieter times, the large public bath is often empty as well, which makes for an incredibly soothing and peaceful stay. I’m grateful for these rates while maintaining this level of quality. Breakfast also offers many healthy-looking items including local specialties. There are homemade dishes from the inn mixed in too—I love that. Many of the staff are from overseas, but everyone is very pleasant—honestly much better than some poorly trained Japanese staff at other hotels. The location/access is excellent as well, making it easy to come on short notice. Whenever I think “I want to soak in an onsen,” I end up booking right away (lol). I’d like to visit again often—before ski season gets busy. Thank you very much.

I sincerely apologize for my late thank-you. This was our second stay. The front desk location had changed since last time, so I was a little confused at first. After we arrived, you upgraded us from Room KOURAI 202 to Room NOMATSU 403, which was an unexpected and wonderful offer, and we were truly delighted. As it’s the most popular among the staff, it was very spacious, with a beautiful view of the garden from both the bath and the Room—an exceptionally comfortable and calming place to spend time. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, and since there was only one other group besides us, we were able to dine in a relaxed atmosphere as well. We also enjoyed visiting nearby Japanese sweets shops—it was great fun. We were deeply moved by how beautifully you filled in our travel memory book too. Done—we will definitely be back again. Thank you very much for taking such great care of us.

We stayed in the Force Room. Thank you for accommodating our last-minute Reservation.\nAlthough the Room is a separate building with a thatched roof, it is not an old traditional house; the interior has the latest facilities, so we were able to stay as comfortably as we would at a city Hotel.\nFrom the Room, we could see the thatched roofs of other rooms, and it felt like we had traveled back in time to another world.\nWe used the spacious open-air bath in our Room; the hot spring water was slightly cloudy with mineral deposits floating on top, and it was wonderful.\nThe large public bath is also right by the river, offering an open, airy feel and an excellent location.\nHighly recommended Accommodation.

At dusk after arriving at the inn, I noticed one of the rear tires on our rental car was flat. There was no spare tire, and when I called the rental car office, they told me to drive slowly to a service station or similar place and have it repaired. When I asked at the front desk, the owner kindly listened and even arranged a repair through an acquaintance. As a result, it was fixed safely before checkout—and at a friendly price. Car trouble that suddenly strikes in an unfamiliar place can be stressful. For a moment I thought our sightseeing plans for the next day were ruined, but thanks to their help we were able to enjoy our trip as planned. I can’t thank the owner enough. Thank you so much. About the inn: it’s an older building, but it’s very clean and well maintained. There are lovely fresh flowers arranged here and there in the rooms and hallways. We used one of the private open-air baths—the larger corner bath—in the morning. The view was wonderful, and I highly recommend bathing in the morning! Most noteworthy is how excellent the meals were. The Shinshu Premium Beef for dinner had sweet marbling and was absolutely delicious—I strongly recommend choosing the “Luxury Meal Plan” so you can enjoy it! The sashimi included Shinshu salmon and char (iwana). Both dinner and breakfast featured many delicious local specialties. Thank you for such wonderful meals. We chose this inn somewhat casually for sightseeing in Obuse, but it became a truly great memory. Thank you very much.

They also stored my luggage before check-in. There was one washing machine in the women’s large public bath, so I felt comfortable doing laundry. The bread at the breakfast buffet was delicious.

Booked a twin room. The staff were great, and above all it was extremely comfortable. Most importantly, I didn’t notice any dust at all—my allergy sensor didn’t react even once. The bed wasn’t too soft and felt supportive, so even though I’m sensitive and usually can’t fall asleep easily, I slept well. I was also happy there was a small pillow (cushion?). The green bath additive had an amazing scent. With the ReFa hair dryer, my thick hair dried quickly. They make good use of the lounge—you can enjoy welcome drinks and have the breakfast buffet there as well. When I go to Osaka again, I’d like to stay at this hotel again.

We used this place for camping. All of the staff were wonderful. We also really enjoyed the hot springs and were truly satisfied. The campsite was clean and had everything we needed. We were a bit worried about animals because the forest is nearby, but it was fine. If we have the chance, we would like to visit again. Thank you very much.

The entire Accommodation is covered with tatami mats, making it exceptionally comfortable and relaxing. Some staff members speak English and Chinese, and they always greeted us with a smile while kindly explaining the Facility. The staff in charge of our meals were also very attentive and even helped us crack the crab. What impressed us most was that they remembered our faces and Room number right after check-in. At check-out, they promptly prepared our shoes and luggage. The meals were luxurious and delicious, and we thoroughly enjoyed high-quality seafood (crab) as well as beef. This time we chose two options—sukiyaki and shabu-shabu. Shabu-shabu is a bit more expensive, but it is well worth the price. The Onsen facilities were excellent: in addition to the indoor bath, the open-air area had a hot bath, a cold bath, and even a sauna—perfect. We were also happy that the hair dryer was ReFa! The post-bath lounge (relaxation area) offered various drinks, light snacks, and massage chairs. Personally, I think this is an outstanding Accommodation that rivals Hoshino Resorts KAI. While the building itself feels slightly dated, I found the quality of the cuisine to be far superior to Hoshino Resorts. Thank you for such a wonderful stay.

The hotel on Goat Island—said to have once been home to wild goats—had a wonderful view. The lobby is spacious, and there is a restaurant with great scenery. They offer “Japanese,” “Western,” and “Japanese-Western” meals. I chose the Japanese set, but I was surprised that the final rice dish was fried rice; I would have preferred plain white rice (haha). Overall, the portions were generous and everything was delicious. The pond had many fish in beautiful colors. The observation deck felt much more like an actual hike than I expected and was quite challenging, but the view was great and I’m glad I went up. The large public bath had an excellent view, and the open-air bath was very relaxing as well. It seems day-use bathing is also available, so I’d like to visit again if I have the chance. Perhaps because the building is old, there were a few spots where an odor bothered me slightly, but I hope they can continue improving.

The stay included a round of golf, and both dinner and breakfast were outstanding. The sunrise was beautiful, and we finished the ayu clay-pot rice as ochazuke. The nodoguro at breakfast was wonderfully meaty, and for dinner we grilled red shrimp and shellfish over charcoal—even eating the shrimp shells. We also had the open-air bath privately reserved both morning and night. Excellent value for money, so we’ll be back in November when crab season opens.

I stayed at Route Inn for the first time. Even though it was a bit late at night, the staff provided pleasant service. The Room and service were excellent! It's not as far from the station as expected, so it's also recommended for those not using a car.

We were worried that the earthquake might have caused damage, but when we asked in advance, we were told there was no particular impact and that we could feel at ease, so we decided to visit. The area around Aso was cooler than Kumamoto City and very comfortable. For the open-air bath in the Room, they showed us how to fill it with Onsen water when showing us around, and since it is available 24 hours a day, we were able to enjoy a relaxing soak at night and again in the morning. This time we chose a Plan with breakfast only, but there were many small dishes beautifully arranged and pleasing to the eye, and the rice cooked in a pot was also very delicious. This is an Accommodation we would like to visit again for a relaxing stay.

Although we chose quality over quantity for the meals, there was more than enough—so much that we couldn’t finish it all. Thank you very much for picking us up while the taxi line at the crowded station kept growing. We were able to spend a quiet, relaxing time away from the bustle of tourists.

It was my first stay in two months. Everything was clean, and I had a comfortable stay. The Room mirror had been changed to a different one than before, and it was very convenient for doing my makeup. Also, the gentleman at the front desk greeted me with a wonderful smile, which made me feel welcome. I’m planning to visit again in autumn.
