On August 26, we stayed for one night for two people on a great-value Plan (JPY 4,800) through a Yahoo Travel promotion, including both breakfast and dinner. The Room was a 10-tatami space with an enclosed veranda area furnished with a table and chairs. The wallpaper was new, everything was spotless, and it felt very comfortable. The Onsen we had been looking forward to did not disappoint—the large public bath was spacious and relaxing. The open-air rock bath was also very large and truly soothing. And then dinner—the buffet we had been waiting for! There was a wide selection of Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes, all delicious. In particular, the high-quality beef could be enjoyed as sukiyaki or teppanyaki-style grilled on an iron plate—and seconds were unlimited, making it the best dinner ever. Soft drinks, ice cream, desserts, fruit, and more were also plentiful; considering how inexpensive this Plan was, we honestly felt almost sorry to receive so much. Breakfast was equally impressive: all-you-can-eat salmon roe along with tuna and squid for luxurious seafood bowls. There were so many other options that we couldn’t possibly try everything. Items were replenished immediately when they ran low—truly attentive service in every way. We were simply amazed throughout our stay. Every staff member worked efficiently and professionally; it was a pleasure to see. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us.

Since retiring, I’ve been enjoying Onsen trips with my wife. We had already stayed at the Livemax Group properties in Kawaji and Kinugawa, and this was our first time at Appi Kogen, which we found on the website. Many Reviews were quite harsh, but after staying there, the value was so good that I almost felt guilty for paying so little, and we were able to fully enjoy a relaxing time. Dinner was a buffet; the selection isn’t large, but it was more than sufficient. I sincerely hope the sukiyaki and domestic salmon roe will continue to be offered in the future.
