Atagawa Heights

We stayed in a 12-tatami Japanese-style Room with an open-air bath for a family of four (a couple and two children, ages 6 and 2). We also stayed here last summer and were so impressed by the views from the in-room open-air bath and the dining area that we came back.The top recommendation is definitely the in-room open-air bath. Even with four people, it’s spacious enough, and the view—lush greenery and the ocean—is outstanding. There are no man-made structures in sight as far as you can see, so you can truly enjoy nature. The Room itself is also plenty large. There isn’t a washing area in the outdoor section, but there is an indoor bath where you can wash.Meals are a reasonably priced buffet typical of this kind of Accommodation; there wasn’t much that felt uniquely “Izu,” and the selection was fairly standard. Since our trip was mainly for the kids, it was more than enough for us. The adults enjoyed the all-you-can-drink alcohol option.The large public bath is very spacious with an open-air bath as well, plus a sauna, reclining baths, and more—there’s plenty to enjoy. The pool is clean with amazing views too, which is a big plus for families.One tip from experience: since dinner is a standard buffet, if you want something that feels like Izu, I recommend ordering the add-on “Simmered Kinmedai (Splendid Alfonsino).” It’s very reasonably priced yet impressively large, and our family could share it.I also recommend checking in early. There are dining areas on both the 4th and 5th floors; the 4th floor has spectacular views while the 5th floor doesn’t really offer them. Seating location/time are assigned in check-in order. The same applies to reserving time slots for free karaoke rooms—these are also first-come, first-served at check-in.One thing I’d like improved: there is a clear acrylic panel-like barrier standing by the open-air section of the large public bath, but it’s dirty (possibly water stains), so you can’t enjoy that incredible view while soaking at all. If it’s meant as privacy screening, I wish they would keep at least the ocean-facing side clear—or remove it—because this could easily be one of Izu’s top scenic baths otherwise. It was exactly the same when we visited a year ago; I’ve seen this pointed out repeatedly in Review posts since then along with responses from Facility staff saying they would address it through cleaning or similar measures—but unfortunately nothing had changed this time either. It really feels like such a waste.Overall though, considering what we paid to stay here: staff were pleasant, cleaning was thorough throughout، and I think this Accommodation offers excellent value for money. We’d love to return again next summer.

I stayed here solo on a weekend drive trip. I’ve stayed at various Itoen Group properties, and this Accommodation is the best for me. The front desk staff were efficient and pleasant. The Room was spacious, with a fairly good view. The guest age range seemed higher than at other group properties, and there also seemed to be quite a few solo travelers. Perhaps because of that, it didn’t feel noisy or crowded. The Onsen was very large and relaxing. The meals are what you’d expect for the price, but as long as there’s an all-you-can-drink option, I have no complaints.I’d like to stay again.
