Hotel Obana

The location is close to Sarusawa Pond, making it convenient for sightseeing. Naramachi is also nearby, so you can enjoy dining and shopping as well. The Hotel itself is not new, but it has everything you need, and the Room size feels just right. The staff were kind and courteous, and they also helped with recommendations for places to eat. I chose the plan with breakfast included. It was buffet-style, and everything was carefully prepared—delicious and enjoyable. I looked forward to breakfast every morning. I arrived by rental car, but there is no dedicated Hotel parking lot. You can park at a flat rate in the adjacent (Mitsui) coin parking lot, but if it’s full you’ll need to find another option yourself. I spent the mornings exploring within walking distance and drove farther out in the afternoon, then returned in the evening to park again. At that time of day, it seemed like day-trippers were leaving, so it worked out well for me. This is a Hotel I’d like to stay at again when I visit Nara.

I stayed one night so I could visit the special exhibition at the Nara National Museum from the morning.The Facility and amenities are well stocked, and there’s a convenience store nearby, so I had no trouble.There were QR cards at the front desk and in my Room for nearby restaurants and cafes, which was very helpful since this was a last-minute trip and I hadn’t researched anything in advance.At the breakfast buffet, there was a wide variety of Nara dishes. Everything was delicious, and I really enjoyed trying local specialties.The Room was neatly prepared and very comfortable. I also liked that the lighting switches were simple and there wasn’t much indirect lighting.There were books related to Nara in the lobby, and a copy of the Kojiki in the Room, so I could relax with some reading. The Kojiki provided in the Room is easy to read.Considering how close it is to Nara Park—and that breakfast buffet is included—the price is truly appreciated. I’d like to stay here again when I visit Nara.(You may want to go early for the breakfast buffet. It didn’t feel like dishes were being replenished once they ran out...)
