    The Room key is difficult to turn.

    The Hotel front desk staff were pleasant and welcoming. I had read that having only one elevator can be inconvenient during busy morning hours, but given the size of the Hotel (number of guests), it didn’t feel like a problem. The issue was the Hotel room key. It wasn’t a card key, but a physical key (a cylinder key?). You insert it and turn it, but first it wouldn’t turn at all—and even when it did turn, I couldn’t pull the key out. After trying several times I figured out a sort of “trick,” but it was so hard to use that I wondered if it was broken. I didn’t see anyone mention this in any Review, but is that type of key normally supposed to open smoothly? Everyone traveling with me tried it too, and we all reacted with “It won’t open?!” After checking in we went sightseeing, stopped by a convenience store, went to the large public bath, etc., so we went in and out of the Room several times. Each time we ended up jiggling the key and saying to each other, “This doesn’t open easily, does it?!” The trip itself—Chita-Handa, Sumiyoshicho, Tokoname—was great, so this Hotel’s key is the only thing that left me with a bit of lingering frustration.

    I like breakfast.

    This is about my fourth stay. Since there is only one elevator, you may have to wait a bit during busy times, but otherwise it’s a standard Business Hotel. I always like the breakfast because it feels homemade, so I choose to stay here whenever I’m on a business trip to the Chita area. This time again, there were plenty of vegetables on the menu, and I was happy that the broth for ochazuke was piping hot.
