    Would this be a good fit for us?

    It’s not too far from home yet still feels like a resort, so this was our second stay. This summer we visited again with three generations—grandparents, our daughter and her husband, our 3-year-old granddaughter—and our white Shiba. As always, the cottage was clean and comfortable. It’s also convenient that you can check in and out via the panel without going through the front desk. One disappointment this time was the BBQ dinner we ordered. Last year there was a proper stand grill and a griddle plate, so we could cook additional items we brought. This year there were two Iwatani outdoor tabletop stoves instead. They came with what seems to be a yakiniku-style plate, but you can’t make yakisoba on it, and there were no cooking utensils such as frying pans. Also, there was only one plate per person. There are plenty of glasses and mugs, but simply not enough plates. If possible, I’d also like to have plastic wrap and aluminum foil available. Reheating cold food is also difficult—you basically have to heat everything on the stove again. Since the weather wasn’t great this year we ate indoors, but because the stoves can only be used outside, I really wished there had been a frying pan. I asked at the front desk just in case, but the response wasn’t very helpful—this could use some improvement as well. The fridge is well stocked and the food is delicious; that’s why it feels like it only needs a little more to be perfect. My son-in-law really likes this place, so we’ll probably stay again next year. Lastly (on a personal note), I was disappointed that the toothbrushes were no longer wooden.

    New and spotless

    It was new and very clean, but I would have appreciated having a frying pan and some basic cooking utensils… I managed with the microwave, though… In midsummer weather, it started raining from the evening, and the scenery looked like a painting.

    The night view was wonderful.

    Being able to check in and out via smartphone was great, as it made the process easy and stress-free. We stayed for two nights in a dog-friendly Room, and it was very clean both days—we were extremely satisfied. The night view was also beautiful, though the trees blocked it slightly; considering the property is surrounded by nature, it was acceptable. Overall, we were very satisfied, but if I had one suggestion, I felt breakfast could have been a bit more filling.

    I’d love to stay here again.

    The Room was clean, and the bathroom and amenities were well stocked. We were happy with the fireworks event.\nIt was a little inconvenient that there were no cooking utensils, but there were dishes available and a good selection of complimentary drinks, so we would like to stay again.

    Large windows are a standout feature.

    The Room looked just like the photos, and the view from the large windows was beautiful. Unfortunately, the sky was cloudy during our stay, but we still enjoyed the scenery. Even with the windows open, the screens were unobtrusive, making it feel airy and open. The sauna was also a private space; although the humidity was on the low side, it was hot enough that it was easy to adjust to a comfortable level. There were a few points we noticed. Perhaps because there were not many guests, only one of the two saunas was operating. Also, many insects were floating in the pool; a net for removing them was provided, but it wasn’t in a condition where we felt comfortable getting in. When we turned on the lights to have a barbecue on the terrace after sunset, a large number of insects gathered, making it difficult to eat outside. If you plan to use it after dark, choosing a meal Plan other than barbecue may be better. After dinner, we placed our dishes in the container and left it at check-in as instructed and put up the magnet as well, but they were not collected. We also felt there were quite a few self-service elements—for example, towels and chopsticks were provided exactly for our group size (so they needed washing for breakfast), and we had to cook our own rice for breakfast. Only one set each of barbecue tongs and cooking chopsticks was provided. On the other hand, local touches such as craft beer from nearby breweries, tofu, and cider were appealing and added to that special travel experience. Since you can spend your time with minimal contact with others, this Accommodation is recommended for those who value privacy.

    It was my father's birthday...

    We stayed as a family for my father's birthday, who loves saunas. The facility was new and beautiful, but there were some points that need improvement, so I am leaving this review. First of all, I must say the response from the service center was not satisfactory. Since we wanted to cook dinner on-site, we inquired about cooking utensils before our stay and were told there was an IH stove but no frying pan or pot, so we brought our own. However, they were actually available at the accommodation. There were no cutting boards or knives available though, so anyone planning to cook should bring their own. This only added to our luggage and gave us something to laugh about as a family. However, the next morning around 9:35 AM when trying to use the sauna, it was only 40 degrees Celsius and too cold to enter. When we called the service center, they said there should be a switch inside that could be turned on ourselves. We searched but couldn’t find it and informed them again; they said they would check and call back later. At 10:50 AM (10 minutes before checkout), a Japanese staff member called saying local staff would come over—but by then it was too late for us to use the sauna anymore so we declined their offer. When asked about where exactly this switch is located afterward—it turned out even the service center didn’t know its location! This left us feeling frustrated about their earlier response. On what should have been a special birthday morning spent enjoying time together in sauna wear outdoors instead ended up with everyone shivering & needing another soak back into hot water instead due lackluster communication/service quality overall here made things worse emotionally especially seeing how disappointed dad looked throughout entire ordeal altogether sad experience overall really. The facility also has pool facilities which seemed promising enough during summer months ahead potentially worth revisiting someday provided improvements are made beforehand though still undecided whether future stays via IKYU.com/Google Reviews might better inform decision-making process moving forward given past positive experiences elsewhere previously disappointing outcome here unfortunately tarnished expectations significantly compared prior visits other Hotels/Accommodations booked through IKYU always exceptional until now sadly fell short drastically missed mark entirely
