  The Room is newly renovated and clean.

  Traveling solo, I have stayed at almost every Accommodation in Hakone that offers Rooms with open-air baths, usually with two meals included for one guest. This time, I stayed for the first time at a new Accommodation within walking distance from Hakone-Yumoto Station. The Room was a twin with a bathroom and washing area. On the same floor, there was a private open-air bath that could be used free of charge whenever it was available, so I did not use the in-room bath and only used the private open-air bath. Aside from the view, the Room, the open-air bath, and the large public bath were all excellent. There was also a complimentary drink server near the front desk; I enjoyed cappuccino and carbonated drinks as well. The staff were foreigners, but their hard work in following procedures was very good. However, some had difficulty answering questions in Japanese. The disappointing part was the meals. Still, considering the price, it may be to be expected.

  It was comfortable.

  It was a very beautiful place, the food was delicious, and we had a very comfortable stay. If we had known earlier that the number of private baths differs between the lobby building and the Accommodation building, we could have enjoyed it even more.

  Honestly, I don’t want to tell anyone about it.

  When choosing an Accommodation, if a newly renovated one is on my list, I can’t help but go—I’m instantly intrigued. The Accommodation we stayed at this time, nehako, ranked far above the rest. Dinner featured delicate creative dishes that reminded me of Kyoto, and for the main sukiyaki we enjoyed plenty of melt-in-your-mouth beef. I found myself craving white rice, and when I requested it mid-meal, it was brought right away. For breakfast, the grilled tuna collar was so rich and tender—unlike anything I’ve ever had. I was truly moved by how wonderful the food was. There were also three open-air baths, all clean and beautiful. I don’t want to say too much out loud… so if you’re curious, please see it for yourself and experience what “amazing” really means. It was a truly lovely day. I’ll be back for the sukiyaki again. To the head chef and all the staff—your sense of style was outstanding. Thank you very much.
