    Affordable yet thoughtfully designed

    I felt you focus your time and budget on exactly the right things. I imagine the Room cleaning and maintenance, meals, and service are all thoughtfully managed with great care. I also really appreciated that the meal portions weren’t overly large. It doesn’t have everything like a luxury Ryokan, but if you simply want to relax at a slower pace, I don’t think you’ll find it lacking. This time I made a Reservation with a last-minute discount, but even without it, this is an Accommodation I’d like to visit again.

    The dishes, filled with the chef’s passion, were absolutely delicious! I have stayed at many Ryokan, but this one truly moved me. For the lobby’s complimentary drinks, I felt it would be even better if an automated machine were introduced so guests could enjoy them freely for longer hours. The male staff at the front desk during check-in were very helpful, and I felt at ease throughout my stay. I will definitely return soon. One unique feature is that the entire building is covered with tatami flooring; aside from a few stair areas, I was completely satisfied. If I had to ask for one more thing, it would be perfect if bath towels were available for guests to use freely.

    Silky-Smooth Hot Spring for Beautiful Skin

    I wanted to enjoy the Onsen anytime in my Room, so this time I made a Reservation for a Room with a hinoki bath Onsen. Since I prefer hotter water, they kindly raised the temperature of the in-room bath for me. The water is an alkaline simple Onsen, and its gentle feel blended smoothly with my skin—after bathing, my skin felt silky and smooth. Truly worthy of being called “beauty-enhancing waters.” The meals were excellent for both dinner and breakfast. Each dish was carefully prepared with extra attention and clearly well thought out. The portions were just right, and I was very satisfied. There were several international staff members as well, but their hospitality was outstanding, and it was clear they are well trained. It had been quite a long time since I last stayed in Izunagaoka Onsen, but this is an Accommodation I’d like to visit again soon. Thank you very much.

    The stay left me with serious concerns about cleanliness and safety.

    We stayed with 5 adults and 2 children, using two Rooms. We chose this Accommodation because it allows families with children and we could secure two Rooms, but the stay left us extremely concerned about hygiene and safety. We found multiple insects in the Room that appeared to be fleas, and family members were actually bitten. We contacted the Accommodation, but there were no staff on duty at night and only a security guard responded. We were told they could not provide an alternative Room or unused bedding, so we ended up moving the bedding from the affected Room to another Room. In addition, there were many mosquitoes in the other Room, as well as bees and ants, and we encountered bees again during our stay. There was also noticeable mold in the in-room bath, and we found a receipt from a previous guest on the floor, which made us question their cleaning standards and hygiene management. At checkout, we were initially told that they would deduct drink charges because of the insects; however, when we explained that one of the two Rooms was effectively unusable, they ultimately reduced the total by 100,000 yen. Even so, there was no sufficient explanation from a manager or person in charge, and we did not feel their response was satisfactory. We understand that some insects may enter due to the natural surroundings; however, having multiple types of insects inside the Rooms along with bite incidents—and being unable to receive an alternative Room or clean bedding—did not feel like an environment where families with children can stay with peace of mind. We had been looking forward to this family trip, so it was very disappointing.

    It was a great accommodation.

    Inside the building, there are many steps, gentle slopes, and staircases, so it may not be recommended for guests with limited mobility. However, the service, meals, and Onsen were all excellent, and even though the Room was spacious, it was very well cleaned. Our Room was quite far from the lobby, dining area, and baths, but since it had a private open-air bath, we were able to relax and enjoy our stay. The building itself feels old, but it has been thoughtfully maintained and kept clean, and we also liked its retro atmosphere. Although it must have been a busy time during Golden Week, the staff never showed any signs of that—everyone greeted us with warm smiles and attentive service. We would love to visit again.

    Honestly, I was disappointed.

    I was surprised that the front desk and dining staff were mostly foreign and didn’t understand Japanese. When I asked for hot water, they brought plain hot water, and when I asked how long it would take to get to a nearby golf course, they seemed confused.

    Hidden Retreat

    I visited with my mother. She loves kimono, and the photos on the website really moved her, so we decided to stay. We were amazed by the spacious 50-tatami Japanese-Western style Room. It was so large that we wandered around at first and couldn’t quite settle in, but the beautifully renovated Room felt elegant and very comfortable. Meals were served in a partitioned area that respected privacy, so we could relax. Dinner was also delicious—everything from appetizers and sashimi to yuzu-salt hot pot, burdock takikomi rice, roasted chicken, fish balls, and more. We thoroughly enjoyed plenty of local vegetables, meat, and fish and were completely satisfied. My mother ate heartily too. The Onsen had the perfect temperature. Since we came from chilly Gotemba, the warmth soaked into our bodies even more. The entire Accommodation is covered in tatami—not only the hallways but even inside the elevator—which is something you rarely come across. The staff were very kind, and it truly came through how much they value their guests. Thank you very much.

    Is the price reasonable?

    The room is spacious and comfortable. The Onsen is excellent. The meals are average. It matches the price.

    A charming Onsen where you can enjoy the nostalgic Showa retro atmosphere and relax.

    We had a very relaxing stay. The room was spacious and clean. The meals were thoughtfully prepared and delicious. The dinner sashimi, breakfast dried horse mackerel, and other dishes were all delightful and complemented the rice perfectly. The rooftop space was quiet as there were no other guests, allowing us to enjoy a peaceful time. The Onsen in the room had tatami flooring, which felt luxurious. My son loved it so much that he stayed in for about an hour! Although the open-air bath on the 5th floor seemed to be out of order with no water when we arrived, which was a bit disappointing, the bath on the 6th floor had a nostalgic Showa-era charm and provided a luxurious and pleasant experience. Our family of four thoroughly enjoyed this Onsen stay. We heard it's relatively quiet during this season, so we hope to visit again soon! Thank you to all the staff members!

    A room with a tatami-mat and cypress bath at this price is delightful. The food was served warm, and seconds were available, making it a delicious experience.

    The staff were very courteous, and the food was delicious, making for a very satisfying experience. When I asked the staff for recommended sightseeing spots, they informed me that Omuroyama is famous, so I visited it later. I would love to visit again if I have the chance.

    I was able to spend a relaxing time.

    I was able to spend a relaxing time in a Facility with the charm of tatami flooring throughout. My spouse and I used a Japanese-Western style room, where we enjoyed leisurely and elegant moments that are hard to come by in daily life, such as drinking tea while watching TV in the Japanese-style room and resting on the bed in the Western-style room, allowing us to refresh ourselves. We also used all the baths, including the newly renovated open-air bath on the 7th floor and the baths that switch between men and women at night and in the morning, and were able to relax both physically and mentally with the abundant hot water and steam. The meals were also very delicious. If I may say, if the draft beer ordered at dinner had been brought promptly, we could have enjoyed the food and drinks more leisurely. That aside, I am satisfied with the courteous service of the staff from check-in to check-out. My wife and I are already talking about inviting our now independent children to use the Facility next time. Thank you for your hospitality.
