    I booked this accomm...

    I booked this accommodation expecting the atmosphere shown in the photos, but it turned out to be quite surprising. There were many issues with basic facilities such as doors that wouldn't lock, no hot water, ineffective heating, an extremely small dressing room, lack of cleanliness, and no drinking water. It was far from being safe and comfortable. The meals were served and cleared away quickly one after another, which made us feel rushed and unable to enjoy a relaxed conversation during dining—this was disappointing. However, the food itself was delicious with a variety of dishes provided generously. Perhaps the new building is different, but I hope all rooms can first ensure safety, comfort, and basic amenities are thoroughly reviewed for improvement.

    I stayed in a raised-floor Room. The Room shook every time I walked.

    I stayed in a special elevated room. The floor creaked with every step, and my husband mistook it for an earthquake. The meals, which had good reviews, were just average. The private bath had good water quality, but the room without windows (there was a small window that couldn't be opened) felt suffocating to me. Being close to the JR railway tracks, the sound of the signal was also bothersome. It was very disappointing.

    I felt completely rejuvenated in both body and mind.

    The warmth of the wood, the onsen, the delicious meals, and the heartfelt hospitality were truly impressive. I would love to visit again and perhaps stay in the annex next time or reserve a meditation room. Thank you so much!

    Ancient cuisine is more delicious than expected!

    The ancient cuisine was more delicious and satisfying than expected. The dishes had a light flavor that highlighted the ingredients, but salt and moromi were provided to enhance the taste if desired (though it was delicious even without adding anything!). They also explained the concept of ancient cuisine, making it an enjoyable experience. If you stay here, definitely give it a try!

    A chaotic inn with the scent of Showa era and ancient romance?

    Stayed at a twin Japanese-Western room in the main building of "Yagami" on the second day of my solo trip, based on photos and reviews. To conclude, I never expected to encounter such an inn on Ikkyu! My trust has plummeted, so this is my first review. The building that boasts ancient romance seems to be across the road, and I didn't step in at all. There was a building that looked like it was on stilts, as seen in the photos. However, if you use the main building, it's irrelevant. The main building is a chaotic space where a Showa-era inn has been remodeled with an ancient? Japanese modern? primitive art? fusion. I was taken aback from check-in... The room is next to the entrance. As others have written, it's a Japanese-Western room with a poor layout. I can't shake the feeling of being deceived by the photos. The sand walls are crumbling in places, and there are cobwebs here and there. Arriving in the scorching heat and being served hot water from a retro pot... Inside the closet-like shelf, there's a TV, a weak refrigerator, and a closet, with the sliding doors not fully closing in a strange design. There was about a 10cm gap at the bottom, and I deeply regretted looking, as there were about three cockroach repellents placed there... The final straw was the bed. The synthetic fiber duvet cover was full of lint, the sheets weren't pure white, and there were a few hairs. As for the pillow, did they forget the cover? It was supposed to be a twin, but one pillow was bare and yellowed... I almost cried. Pulling myself together, I headed to the onsen with natural hot spring water. The quality of the spring was impeccable. The water was excellent! However, the dressing room had an overwhelming sense of being run-down. The same foot mat was used the next morning, so maybe they are short-staffed. The meal wasn't particularly ancient cuisine, just ordinary. It was Japanese food with a touch of Izumo. I thought it was worth the price, but the breakfast used ready-made side dishes, and my spirit was broken until the end. The staff at the inn were kind. However, it didn't match the price, and it made me ponder what hospitality really is, leading to an experience where the Ikkyu brand collapsed for me. I hope this will be helpful to someone.

    First time in Shimane

    After visiting Izumo Taisha, we headed to the hotel. We had requested a shuttle service, so when we went to the station, there was a car parked, but the person inside was asleep. There was no sign on the car, so when we knocked, it turned out to be the hotel's shuttle. I chose this place because the building looked charming in the photos on the website, but when I arrived, I thought, "Huh? Is this a different building from the photos?" Upon closer inspection, the building in the photos was actually an annex under a different plan. The hot spring was absolutely wonderful. The meals were delicious, and I was quite full. However, when I returned to the room, the futon was not laid out, so I had to do it myself. The next day, they mentioned they forgot to lay out the futon. The refrigerator in the room was broken, so drinks weren't cold. They replaced it, but the area behind the refrigerator was covered in dust, and when they replaced it, large clumps of dust fell into the room... Since the airport is nearby, I thought it would be very convenient if there was a shuttle service to the airport.
