    The bedding was terrible.

    The meals, featuring game meat and freshly milled brown rice daily, were delicious. The fact that they are pesticide-free is also a plus. The staff were friendly and accommodating, with both younger and more experienced members being kind and attentive. I wasn’t surprised by the small bath, dim hallways, or futons on the floor as I had read about these in reviews. However, I was shocked to encounter around 20 stink bugs flying around the room. Catching them was unpleasant. Additionally, the futon—just two thin layers stacked—caused back pain and made it hard to sleep. Underneath the sheets were yellow stains, marks of unknown origin, and even what appeared to be bloodstains; this was quite off-putting. Due to this issue alone, I rated the guestroom 1 star. While I understand that stink bugs are common in mountain areas, having them fly around unexpectedly can be startling. Accidentally stepping on them leaves an odor as well. Even at night while trying to sleep, their buzzing sound was distracting; sensitive guests might find this particularly difficult. For three adults and one child staying one night with two meals during peak season at ¥95,000 yen total—it felt overpriced considering the condition of the bedding despite excellent staff service. Although it’s an older building overall kept clean with well-maintained tatami mats free from splinters—the outdoor bath shown prominently online differs significantly compared against reality photos available via Google Maps which may provide better reference visuals instead!
