    Enjoy the Onsen

    I stayed with my daughter. The Onsen was wonderful, and we really enjoyed it. The meals were delicious and very filling, and we also enjoyed the late-night ramen. It was a great Hotel for a relaxing stay. However, I was a bit disappointed that the air conditioner in the women’s bath area was covered in dust. Even looking up from below, it appeared to be packed with cotton-like dust. It may have been the filter rather than dust, though.

    It was a well-equipped Accommodation.

    Because of the location, once you enter the Accommodation it’s not easy to step out casually, so the Accommodation provided a wide variety of complimentary drinks and snacks in detail, and we never felt inconvenienced. The amenities were also good quality, and it was nice that the Room had skincare items like toner and emulsion. The free private baths were also fun, surrounded by greenery. When we tried to go in during daylight hours there were bees, so we couldn’t use one bath, but we were able to use the other two. If I had to ask for one thing, I wish bath towels were provided there as well. Since you end up using several different baths multiple times, we ran short on bath towels. Dinner was mostly delicious, and the beef sukiyaki-style dish in particular was excellent—tender meat that practically melted in your mouth. The only slight disappointment was the chestnut mixed rice; it was a bit dry and not what I expected. Breakfast items like raw egg, mackerel, and the soy-milk hot pot were tasty. The amount of explanation varied depending on the staff member; sometimes we learned things for the first time by overhearing explanations at other tables. That said, many of the staff were young Japanese employees who seemed energetic and worked hard. It was very comfortable being able to walk around inside in loungewear and barefoot, and the restroom was spacious as well. The futon can feel hot in summer. Overall there weren’t many noisy guests, so we could relax peacefully, and it felt like a very good Accommodation.

    A Kyoritsu Resort accommodation that makes the most of the Shiobara Gorge landscape

    Unfortunately, our stay coincided with a day of record-breaking heavy rain across a wide area from Tokai through Kanto-Koshin to Tohoku, so we were worried about traveling to and from the Accommodation. Thankfully, the downpour was mainly while we were inside, and it wasn’t nearly as severe before check-in or after check-out, which was a huge relief. The Accommodation is designed to make the most of the Shiobara Gorge terrain. At first, I thought the time needed to get from the separate parking lot to the slope car at check-in/out would be inconvenient and inefficient, but it actually made things easier and added an element of fun. The building, opened four years ago, is very clean, and having tatami flooring throughout—so you can walk around barefoot—was comfortable and great. Although I couldn’t fully relax into enjoying the lush scenery in such torrential rain, we thoroughly enjoyed all three private baths, Yamaga-no-Yu (the large public bath), and the open-air bath attached to our Room. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent in both quality and quantity—we were very satisfied. In particular, dinner included three “Kokorobakari” items (a dish with creamy yuba tofu skin and sea urchin; a dish with eel and winter melon; chawanmushi with abalone and junsai), which you could order as many times as you liked—so we had all three twice over. We finished the night with Kyowitsu Resort’s signature late-night soba snack. Along with the great value for money, the wonderful hospitality from the young staff was another major highlight. It was a fantastic Accommodation that I’d love to revisit when I have another chance.

    The tatami flooring ...

    The tatami flooring felt very comfortable. The bath facilities were excellent and I really enjoyed them. The staff’s hospitality was outstanding. I would love to stay again. Also, the breakfast was very delicious. The view from the Room was amazing.

    Young staff members

    I stayed here on short notice. I chose it because I expected good quality from Kyoritsu Resort. Overall, it was nice to see even the younger staff working hard. What was disappointing was that one dish at dinner had three chips, and neither the kitchen nor the serving staff noticed. Also, a hair clip came out of the pocket of the in-house samue loungewear, which made me feel that it hadn’t been checked properly when collected. It didn’t feel pleasant to wear. Aside from those points, I thought it was good.

    An Accommodation for a Blissful Stay

    Riding the private slope car down to the Accommodation was exciting—kids will love it! The open-air bath at the Accommodation is deep enough to soak up to your shoulders and relax comfortably; it was wonderful. The hot spring water quality is great and warmed me through. The meals were beautifully presented in small dishes served one after another, and by dessert I was completely full. It’s an Accommodation that makes you want to come back again.

    Services

    The bedding had a very strong unpleasant odor. Rather than only changing the covers, the bedding itself may need proper cleaning and maintenance. The timing of serving dishes at the dining area was very poor. Also, optional items such as alcoholic beverages took far too long to be provided.

    Only one.

    I visited Shionoyu Onsen Rengetsu. I thought we would arrive at the Hotel by Shuttle Service from the parking lot, but that turned out to be the first attraction—we arrived on a fun ride. After check-in, we went to our Room. The Room was comfortable, with a separate vanity area and shower room, and the toilet in its own space. There was also a small sink in the corner of the Room where we could wash teacups, which showed thoughtful attention to detail. The only disappointment was that the bed was quite low. It would have been easier to get in and out if it were a bit higher. Since I had informed them in advance about food allergies, they explained the ingredients at both dinner and breakfast. The staff clearly shared information well, and I was very satisfied with this. The meals were served slowly at our pace, so we could enjoy conversation while dining. The Onsen water felt smooth and very pleasant. There was also a medicinal bath as part of the bathing area, which was equally enjoyable. In addition, the open-air bath in our Room used Onsen water as well, and it was wonderful. Overall, I had no complaints other than the bed height. It’s a Hotel that made me want to visit again. Thank you very much.

    Exceptional comfort throughout the property

    We were highly satisfied with everything—the Room, the Onsen, the atmosphere throughout the building, the service, and the meals. Since there were three of us this time, we booked a quadruple Room. Usually the third person ends up on an extra bed, but here it was a proper spacious bed, so we could truly relax. The entire building is covered with tatami mats, so you can walk anywhere barefoot or in socks and feel relaxed as if you were at home. It was also fun being able to choose a colored yukata. In addition, several types of pillows were placed in the hallway on each floor along with pillowcases so guests could choose—this really felt like exceptional hospitality. The process of taking the slope car to reach the Accommodation was enjoyable as well, and everything about how we were guided was smooth—we really felt how good the service was. The meals were delicious and thoughtfully prepared, making them visually enjoyable too. We also had a dedicated staff member who carefully explained that no allergens were included and provided detailed guidance about each dish—their attentiveness was outstanding. It was truly a wonderful stay.

    Although it was my first stay, the in-house Facilities were clean and very comfortable. All the staff were kind and made a great impression. After parking, we traveled to the Hotel by shuttle bus and a monorail-like ride, which was also fun.

    We stayed here for my girlfriend’s birthday trip. From check-in to check-out, the staff greeted us with smiles throughout, and everyone was wonderful—an excellent Accommodation. There were many families with children, so it could get a bit noisy at times in the Onsen, dining area, and hallways, but in general the parents responded quickly, so it didn’t bother us much. Many Accommodations only provide enough towels for about two uses per person, so we really appreciated that our Room was stocked with enough towels to visit the Onsen multiple times. We would definitely like to stay here again.

    This accommodation was quiet, and the meals were very satisfying.

    This was my first stay here. The atmosphere inside the Accommodation was very calm, and I could tell the meals were prepared with great care, which allowed me to relax and enjoy a leisurely time. The staff’s service was gentle, and I appreciated the comfortable distance—they were attentive without being intrusive. One small point: some of the garden plants had grown a bit overgrown. Since the design is so beautiful, I think a little more maintenance would make the atmosphere even better. Overall, I was very satisfied, and this is an Accommodation I would like to visit again in a different season.

    Overall, the satisfaction level is high.

    This was a trip for the two of us, a couple in our 50s. What we look for in an Accommodation is how clean, quiet, and relaxing it is. At Rengetsu, those expectations were mostly met, and overall we were quite satisfied with our stay. Below are the points that concerned us. To get to the Accommodation you take a slope car. Based on other Reviews, we thought sharing would be rare, but we ended up sharing with another party. Moreover, they were asked whether they were okay with sharing, but we were not asked at all. If you had asked us, of course we would have said yes—but it left us feeling uncomfortable. Also at breakfast, at the next table separated by a wall, there was likely a family with small children. The child was watching videos; although the volume was low, the audio was on, and I believe staff should absolutely address that kind of situation.

    The bath was especially nice.

    The Onsen options— the large public bath, the free private bath, and the in-Room bath—were all wonderful. The large public bath was very clean, and the Facility offerings were excellent, including a sauna, hot stone spa, and cold plunge pool. We also enjoyed being able to use the private bath together as a family. In addition, the post-bath lounge offered all-you-can-eat delicious ice cream, and even as adults we ended up having several. We also used the spa, and were very satisfied with the oil massage. One downside was that our detached Room was far from reception, and it was a bit tough having to carry our luggage ourselves. It would have been perfect if luggage assistance had been available. Still, overall we were extremely satisfied. Since it’s close by, we’d like to stay again.

    After reading other guests’ Reviews, I chose this Ryokan. After staying there, I felt exactly the same, so I’m writing this Review. From the lift pick-up onward, I was deeply impressed by the staff’s courteous service. The comfort of stepping onto tatami after taking off my shoes, and the thoughtfully planned layout of every Facility (the placement of decorative jars and the toilet, floral arrangements, etc.)—everything was wonderful. The meals were delicious and served in just the right portions, with genuine care in every detail. I also loved being able to choose items myself! It was my first stay here, but it made me want to come back—and next time I’d like to bring my whole family. Honestly, it’s an Accommodation I’d like to keep as a grown-up secret. If I had one request, it would be nice to have a few brighter-colored yukata. That said, perhaps the Ryokan intentionally keeps the colors subdued to make it easier to relax. The samue were also very comfortable—I could truly unwind and slept soundly. This was a wonderful Accommodation that stayed with me.

    Second Stay

    It was a last-minute decision, and I booked the day before my stay, but I came because I wanted to enjoy the Onsen. As always, the Accommodation was spotless and very comfortable. The meals were filling, and since the Room has its own bath, I was able to soak many times (I have atopic dermatitis, so using a large public bath can be a bit daunting). Great value for money. The private open-air bath was also available as much as I wanted, so I had a very satisfying stay. I’ll be back again when I feel like enjoying an Onsen.

    It was very relaxing.

    This was my first stay here. The location from the Room, with the mountains and river so close by, was outstanding. The large public bath, private bath, and in-Room bath were all clean with great views, and I was able to spend a truly relaxing time. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, but since I usually eat small portions, I was overwhelmed by the number of dishes and regret not being able to finish them. Although it was only for one night, I felt very comfortable and was extremely satisfied.

    Our once-a-year family trip again this year.

    This was our second stay, following last year, for our once-a-year family trip—one of the biggest events of the year for us. The kids, grandma, and we were all satisfied again this year. The children even asked to come back here again next year. The Hotel staff are kind, and the building is designed to be easy for seniors to get around, so it’s an Accommodation we can bring them to with peace of mind. We’d love to visit again.

    We thoroughly enjoyed the Onsen and had a wonderful trip.

    Round-trip Shuttle Service by bus from Nasushiobara Station. Along the way, we received sightseeing guidance and truly enjoyed discovering the charms of Nasushiobara. I wouldn’t have noticed the Holstein-pattern postbox if it hadn’t been pointed out. The Accommodation is located by the river, and you take a slope car to the entrance. The Room was spacious, with a view from the window; the sound of the flowing river and the beautiful greenery were very soothing. At reception, tea, coffee, and more are available 24 hours a day for guests to enjoy freely. For bathing, there are three unique private Onsen baths that you can use whenever they are available—I enjoyed them about three times. There is also a large public bath area, and in the relaxation lounge you can enjoy shaved ice and ice pops; at night, complimentary late-night soba is served. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. The Room also has an Onsen bath, which I used before going to sleep. Everyone at the Hotel had wonderful smiles and provided service full of hospitality. Thank you very much.

    The open-air bath in the Room was amazing.

    The Room, the food, and the service were all wonderful overall! In particular, the open-air bath connected to the deck from our Room felt spacious and very relaxing. The entire area from the deck to the bath is covered with netting, so we didn’t have to worry about insects getting in, and we could enjoy the outdoor space at ease. The only thing that concerned me was that while it was refreshing and comfortable that the entire property is barrier-free and you can stay without slippers, it seems that suitcases and strollers used outdoors are also rolled through indoor areas as they are. It felt a bit like mixing with shoes worn outside, which was slightly disappointing. That said, since the floors were very clean, I imagine you make efforts such as frequent wiping. If there were a way at the entrance to remove mud from wheels or disinfect them before bringing them inside, it would feel even more comfortable. It may just be a matter of perception and not make much practical difference, but…

    The Room was very nice.

    The Room was very nice, and the open-air bath was relaxing—overall, it was great. However, the food wasn’t good. Service was far too slow, and the staff didn’t seem coordinated; for example, they said they would light the burner after we had already finished eating. Also, when staying in a detached room, you have to walk along an outdoor corridor. Children’s geta were not provided, so our child had to walk barefoot. I think this should be improved. It’s disappointing because the atmosphere of the Room was so nice. We won’t be returning.

    I stayed for one night the other day. Due to an unexpected matter, I couldn’t make it in time for the scheduled meal, but when I contacted you, you kindly arranged everything so the meal would be ready for my arrival.     I learned on social media that there is a private ropeway and decided to stay here. The Room was clean, and the open-air bath was great. The meals were delicious, but if any allergen ingredients were included, I had to avoid them myself. I had a wonderful time. I would like to stay again if I have the chance.

    Exceeded expectations

    With an open-air bath in the Room and a one-night stay with two meals included, it’s rare to find a price like this! The meals offered an amazing variety of dishes, all carefully prepared and delicious. Also, the monorail from the gate to the Accommodation was quite a surprise—and a lot of fun. The biggest surprise was the number of staff and their hospitality. Even the shuttle bus from the parking lot was arranged just for the two of us without making us wait for anyone else, and everything during meals ran perfectly smoothly. At the front desk there is a complimentary drink machine, three kinds of ice cream are always available in the relaxation area, and they even offer late-night soba service. There were also five or six massage chairs. Just one thing: in the Room we stayed in, the shower room and open-air bath were separated, so we had to walk through part of the Room after showering to get into the bath, which was a bit inconvenient. However, both the toilet and shower room had been newly renovated and were very comfortable to use. It exceeded our expectations, so we’ve already made a Reservation for November—this time for four people in an annex.

    This was my third stay.

    Both dinner and breakfast felt higher in quality than on my previous two stays. The portions were generous, and everything was very delicious. Aside from there being no cups for water in the large public bath, quite a bit of small debris on the floor, and what I felt was poor guidance during breakfast, my stay was very comfortable. I would like to stay again. Thank you very much.

    It was a wonderful Accommodation where you could really feel the attention to detail. The ice bars and late-night snacks were also excellent. I stayed with friends this time, and it was very quiet and relaxing, so I’d love to stay again with my family. Since I don’t eat much, I couldn’t finish either breakfast or dinner, and I’m sorry about that. If I had consulted in advance, you might have been able to adjust the portion size; it would have been even better if that option had been mentioned. Thank you for your lovely hospitality! We’ll be back!

    It was a great accommodation.

    At Rengetsu, part of the Kyoritsu Group, the private open-air Onsen baths were not too crowded and were easy to use smoothly, perhaps because each Room also has its own open-air Onsen bath. The in-room open-air bath was also convenient, as it could be filled at the touch of a button. All staff provided courteous service, and I felt the Facility amenities and meals offered good value for money. The dining area had partitions that created a private-room-like space, so we could relax and enjoy our meal without the surrounding noise. If you are visiting for the first time, I recommend checking the parking location in advance.

    We had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed our stay as three generations of family.

    At the start of summer vacation, we rented a car and stayed here with three generations of our family—seven in total (we welcomed one more member this January). When we previously visited as a couple, we loved the well-appointed Onsen, the varied meals, and the comfort of the barrier-free tatami flooring throughout the building. This time we wanted to bring our grandchildren too, and it was even better than expected. There were plenty of young staff members, and their service was truly pleasant. Our grandchild was curious about what the approach to the entrance was—and ended up absolutely delighted. At the dining venue, there were many families with small children as well, so everyone could relax without feeling overly self-conscious. We’re grateful for such thoughtful consideration by this Accommodation. Sharing our first “men’s morning bath” with our grandchildren in the private family bath became an unforgettable memory. The entire property was spotless and uncluttered, making it extremely comfortable. Thank you very much.
