    The Wonderful Staff

Dinner was wonderful, of course, and the breakfast was especially delicious. I really appreciated the benefits of it not being a buffet. The staff at Hiramatsu were excellent. When I visited the Sky Lounge, only drinks were available, so I would have been even happier if there had been some small sweets. It was a lovely holiday. Thank you very much.

We had a wonderful trip to Karuizawa.

The hospitality and the restaurant cuisine were outstanding in every respect. Their attentive, courteous communication before our stay left a strong impression, and on the day of our visit, everyone—from the seasoned staff to the younger team members—provided genuinely pleasant service. If you want a reliably excellent experience in Karuizawa, HIRAMATSU is without doubt the place to choose.

    It was very good.

Everything was wonderful. The only slight disappointment was the service during meals. Explanations varied depending on the staff member, and some items were a bit difficult to use (such as the honey container), so we listened to the explanations at other tables and managed accordingly. There was little explanation about the dishes, and no one asked whether we would like additional bread at dinner. The Hotel was excellent and we were very satisfied with the food, which is why these small points felt disappointing.

    I had been wanting t...

I had been wanting to stay here for some time, and I made a last-minute Reservation and stayed. As you would expect from a luxury auberge set on expansive grounds, everything—from the buildings to the furniture and amenities—felt refined, and the service was exceptionally gracious and attentive. Since Hiramatsu is known for French cuisine, we chose the French course. It had an authentic atmosphere and was delicious. (Personally, I don’t drink alcohol and I’m impatient, so I would have preferred the dishes to be served a bit faster—but I understand that this is simply how courses are paced at an elegant restaurant.) We also had breakfast at the Italian restaurant on the 5th floor; the view was wonderful, and I highly recommend terrace seating. (It may be nice to go early and enjoy the morning scenery from the terrace.) The Onsen is not fed directly from a free-flowing source, but it seems fresh Onsen water is delivered daily by a large, clean tanker truck, so we happily enjoyed the in-Room Onsen many times. That said—there’s nothing that can really be done about it—it was summer, so there were insects when using the deck or opening up the bath area like a semi-open-air bath, and our car left in their care did get somewhat dirty with leaves. Even so, we were very satisfied overall. Thank you very much. It isn’t inexpensive, and if it gets crowded I imagine hospitality inevitably declines (though perhaps it doesn’t), so if possible I recommend staying during a quieter period without packing your schedule too tightly—just relax and enjoy your time here.

    A Luxurious Stay

We are returning guests. This summer vacation, my spouse and I stayed at HIRAMATSU in Miyota for a relaxing getaway. The yoga session on the wooden terrace was wonderfully refreshing, with the gentle breeze and sounds of nature—truly a soothing experience. As always, the Hotel dining and the warm hospitality from all the staff were exceptional, and we were glad we chose HIRAMATSU again. Thank you very much.

    Thank you very much.

We enjoyed a very quiet and luxurious stay. In particular, we are grateful for the sommelier’s warm hospitality at dinner. One thing: at breakfast, some young foreign children were being noisy, and it was difficult to focus on the delicious food, so it did not feel relaxing. As a result, the appeal of Hiramatsu’s Accommodation was diminished. It was disappointing. While this may be unavoidable with children, we felt that some consideration from the staff would be appreciated.

    Relaxation

I arrived at the Hotel soaked from a sudden downpour, but I was able to sit comfortably while checking in, and they even brought me a towel. The Room had a spacious circular layout and was very relaxing. After a morning bath while looking out at the greenery, I enjoyed breakfast at the 5th-floor restaurant with views of the mountains and the townscape of Karuizawa. I also brewed coffee from freshly ground beans and enjoyed it on the terrace—it was truly relaxing. Even when it was time to check out, I didn’t want to leave, and this has become a Hotel I’d love to visit again.

Forest-view rooms may be visible from outside.

I stayed in a Deluxe Twin with a forest view, but it was on the 2nd floor. From the cottage right in front, you can see straight into the Room. We had to keep all the blinds closed. The view of majestic Mt. Asama from the bathroom and bedroom should have been wonderful, but because we kept all the blinds closed, the Room became completely dark, which was disappointing. If you stay in a sky-view Room on the 4th or 5th floor, I think you can fully enjoy Mt. Asama in the morning and a starry sky at night from your Room, and even from the bath. Also, as an IKYU Diamond member, I appreciated the complimentary glass of champagne with meals, but they poured less than half a glass. Honestly, I couldn’t help thinking, “That’s it?” It feels like a waste of what should be a nice service. That said, as expected from Hiramatsu, both dinner and breakfast were excellent, and the hospitality and service were very professional. Because Hiramatsu should deliver top-quality service in every aspect, I hope they will improve both Room privacy and how they serve the champagne. Next time, I would like to stay on either the 4th or 5th floor.

    Forest View (2F)

I stayed here for the first time in the summer of 2026. (Points of concern) Everything was excellent except that there were no fragrance amenities. Would it be possible for guests to park their own cars in the parking lot? The pillow on the extra bed was small and very soft, and it made my neck hurt. (What I liked) We only had breakfast, but as expected from Hiramatsu, renowned for French cuisine, the food was delicious. Next year, I would like to make a Reservation for dinner as well. The Room felt like a suite—very spacious—and the indoor bath was also large. My skin felt smooth afterward, and I thoroughly enjoyed the Onsen. The drinks already stocked in the refrigerator were free of charge. There is a separate building with a library and a music listening room, which was very relaxing. There are two sinks in the bathroom. (What I didn’t like) I ground the provided coffee beans with the grinder, but setting up the dedicated filter was surprisingly difficult. I couldn’t fit it properly, and after brewing there were lots of coffee grounds floating on top—so in the end I didn’t drink it (which was disappointing). This is one Hotel I would recommend.

From check-in to check-out, the hospitality was excellent. We also enjoyed breakfast on the terrace with a view of the scenery outside—it was very pleasant, and we were very satisfied with the food. We would love to stay again.

Relax and unwind on your own.

They arranged a taxi from Sakudaira Station, and greeted me by name on arrival, which felt very welcoming. The spacious Room on the 1st floor with a terrace was wonderful. For dinner I chose the Italian course, and they kindly substituted an ingredient I don’t like with something else on the spot. The meat was sweet, tender, and delicious. The cheese I chose after the meal was outstanding. If I may add one thing, I wished there had been one more type of bread. As a bread lover, it would be even more enjoyable if another kind of bread were served to match the next dish—this is just my personal request. The butter was excellent as well. Their attention to ingredients such as bread, butter, and cheese really showed in the quality of the meal. Next time, I hope there will be more bread options that pair well with an Italian dinner. It was a relaxing holiday with great food—thank you very much. I would love to visit again for another solo trip.

We stayed at The Hiramatsu Miyota to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. We made a Reservation for a forest-view Room, and while enjoying the French dinner we had been looking forward to, we were deeply moved when they surprised us with a celebratory message plate saying, “Happy 40th wedding anniversary.” When we returned to our Room, there was another wonderful surprise, and we felt truly grateful for the thoughtful care shown by all the staff. They also warmly congratulated us at breakfast the next morning and again at check-out, making our entire stay feel heartfelt and special. We feel very fortunate to have marked such an important milestone surrounded by such exceptional hospitality. Thank you so much to everyone on the team. This is a Hotel we would love to visit again.

    Hospitality

Frankly, for this price point, I think you should offer a higher level of service. The Hotel staff’s service was inconsistent. Overall, I felt the Hotel lacked hospitality toward guests. It already takes some effort to get to Karuizawa, and going even farther to Miyota is even more inconvenient. It was disappointing enough that I found myself thinking we should have stayed near Karuizawa Station instead of coming all the way to Miyota and staying here. Even with amenities, items we were told would be replenished during dinner were not replenished. The complimentary juices and alcohol in the refrigerator were things you can easily buy at the station, which honestly gave me the impression that costs were being cut. I think the quality could be upgraded another level. The “French” course somehow felt more like Japanese fusion cuisine; it made me wonder if the chef is still in training or experimenting with different ideas. The flavors lacked consistency and stability, so I can’t say it was truly delicious. Most of all, the course took far too long. This was very frustrating. The intervals between dishes were excessively long—about 10–15 minutes—and even after finishing a dish, it felt like nothing came out for quite a while. From 6:30 pm until we finished dessert took until 9:30 pm. With this schedule, if you have an early morning the next day, you end up with no time to relax in the Onsen. Also very unpleasant was how a male staff member serving food and drinks poured beer into a glass and then casually set down the bottle one-handed before walking away. It gave me the impression he treated guests differently depending on who they were. If you claim to be an Accommodation known for fine dining, Fufu Kyoto is on an entirely different level—both artistically and in terms of delicious food that is also gentle on the body—and their staff are excellent as well. The TAKIBI Lounge staff also weren’t very helpful. In addition, because the lounge door was left open and the air conditioning wasn’t working effectively, we couldn’t relax even when we tried. The only positives were breakfast—the blueberries and omelet were good. However, even then, the tea and coffee quality was just average. Because it was my mother’s birthday, I had introduced this as a wonderful Accommodation—so it feels like I ended up giving her an underwhelming experience as a gift, which makes me very disappointed. I strongly hope you will review your hospitality standards and improve them overall.

Staying to celebrate my wife’s birthday.

We stayed here to celebrate my wife’s birthday. The Room was very spacious, spotlessly clean, and extremely comfortable. In particular, the view of the fresh green mountains from the in-room Onsen was breathtaking, and I found myself soaking again and again without noticing the time. This time we enjoyed a special French × Italian anniversary dinner to mark the 5th year since opening. Every dish was beautifully presented, and it was an excellent course that let us fully savor the best of both cuisines. Everything was truly delicious, and they kindly prepared a message plate for her birthday as requested—my wife was delighted. We are grateful for the thoughtful hospitality of all the staff. If I had to mention one thing, there were quite a few insects at night. However, given the location in nature-rich mountains, it’s only to be expected, and it didn’t bother me personally. We chose this Hotel with the aim of relaxing on-site, and our stay exceeded expectations. We would love to return again in a different season.

    Mother-and-daughter trip

This was my first trip with my mother. She has an illness, and I wanted her to relax and take it easy, so I searched for various Hotels and chose Hiramatsu—and it was absolutely the right choice. Since I had informed them about her condition in advance, all the staff were very considerate, and everything—from the Room to the meals—was wonderful. It became a truly memorable trip for both of us. We would definitely like to stay again. Thank you very much.

    The Finest Forest Grand Auberge

After retiring, my spouse and I have been staying each month at highly rated places, looking for a Hotel we’d want to return to where we can truly relax as a couple—and we’ve found our second wonderful place. From the moment we arrived by car until we were seen off, we were impressed by the hospitality of the staff, who addressed us by name without us having to say anything. The Room was excellent in terms of space, cleanliness, view, and amenities such as towels (the only thing I wondered was whether the alcohol in the refrigerator could also be complimentary). The Onsen bath was generously sized with water kept at a comfortable temperature and level at all times, and roasting marshmallows in the TAKIBI Lounge was another highlight. We also thoroughly enjoyed the anniversary dinner we received for your 5th anniversary—created by both the French and Italian chefs. The flavors pleasantly exceeded our expectations. Thank you very much. We will be back.

    Simply wonderful.

The views from the guest room and the top-floor restaurant were stunning. Just taking in the scenery felt like a special treat. The breakfast restaurant was offering a limited-time collaboration with Ralph Lauren, and it felt like being at an overseas resort. The atmosphere was absolutely wonderful. We enjoyed a dinner course at the French restaurant on the first floor. The timing of each dish and the attentive yet unobtrusive service made us feel truly welcomed, and we had a very pleasant evening. Both the fish and meat dishes were delicious, and we felt genuinely happy that we chose to stay here. The in-room bath was also at just the right temperature. It was an Accommodation that made us want to come back again. Thank you for such a lovely time.

    The view was amazing.

This time, we stayed on the first floor of the Forest View. The wooden deck stretched wide to both sides, and the view was outstanding. Since it only opened five years ago, the Facility was spotless and felt brand new. The open-air bath in the room was our favorite—we used it four times. The French course dinner was carefully prepared dish by dish, and the portions were just right. Above all, we will never forget how delicious the freshly made butter from a nearby farm was.

I was able to relax and enjoy my stay at a very leisurely pace.

We chose this place to celebrate my wife’s birthday and our 35th wedding anniversary. We often visit Karuizawa, but we never imagined there was such a wonderful place beyond it. The staff were also extremely courteous and attentive. We would love to return again for another special occasion. Thank you very much.

There is an issue with the meals.

The Room was spacious with a great view, and the bathroom had an Onsen with a semi-open-air bath, so we could relax comfortably. Dinner was French cuisine, but it did not meet our expectations and felt forced; we regretfully left some of it. We did not feel it was worth the accommodation cost.

    A Wonderful Auberge

A serene retreat quietly nestled at the foot of Mt. Asama. We stayed in a villa and enjoyed the Onsen in a semi-open-air bath. The grounds also include an annex building with a bonfire lounge and a library. For dinner, we had authentic French cuisine in the main building. The wine list is extensive, and the food pairings are exceptional as well. For breakfast, we were able to relax and enjoy room service delivered in a box on the villa terrace. This is an Accommodation where you can fully savor both fine dining and nature.

When you think of HIRAMATSU, dinner should be the highlight… but…

Over the past three years, we have stayed with HIRAMATSU during the autumn foliage season.\nThis year, we visited in May to enjoy the fresh greenery. It was heartwarming to see that a staff member who was a new hire when we last stayed now seems fully settled into their role at the Hotel.\nOne of HIRAMATSU’s greatest attractions is, without question, its French cuisine. Until now, we have enjoyed dinners that were not only delicious but also visually beautiful, and we appreciated listening to the restaurant staff’s explanations as well.\nHowever, this time there were a few question marks regarding the flavors.\nThe fish dish used sea bass, but it was very salty. The meat dish was duck, and the sauce was similarly salty. On top of that, the duck was overly chewy. The saltiness was so strong that it made us wonder if something had gone wrong in the kitchen. We’ll look forward to next time.\nThe classic breakfast minestrone soup was as delicious as ever. However, perhaps because of the season, the fruit selection felt a bit limited.

This was my first stay, and it was an even more wonderful Hotel than I expected. First, the welcome drink was delicious. I really appreciated the thoughtful choice of herbal tea, so anyone can enjoy it without worrying about caffeine. The herbal tea was also available at the café and at breakfast, so I could enjoy it throughout my stay. Since few Hotels offer herbal tea like this, I hope you will continue providing it. The Room was much more spacious than I imagined, and I stayed very comfortably. The bath in particular was truly outstanding; even though this is not an Onsen town Accommodation, I was impressed by how much care has gone into it. The well-stocked amenities were also a great touch. The library café and the bonfire are also unique highlights of this Hotel. Both offered a luxurious experience that’s hard to find in everyday life, and I could enjoy a full day just within the Hotel. The food was excellent as well—made with local ingredients and seasonal flavors—and I was completely satisfied. It is a truly lovely Hotel where you can fully enjoy an extraordinary getaway. I would love to stay again.

A relaxing moment to celebrate a 70th birthday

We stayed here to celebrate our 70th birthdays, together with our daughter, who is pregnant and in her stable period. We were able to relax in the spacious guest room, and also enjoyed tea in the lounge with views of Mt. Yatsugatake and Sakudaira. In the evening, we also enjoyed an outdoor atmosphere at the bonfire lounge. For dinner, we chose the 5th Anniversary Dinner and leisurely savored the flavorful dishes that made wonderful use of local ingredients. The pregnancy accommodations we requested were handled properly, and the staff welcomed us with a warm, cheerful attitude. Thanks to them, although it was only one night, it was a truly relaxing and memorable stay.

    Mountain Resort Hiramatsu

With Shuttle Service by taxi from Miyota Station, you can actually reach the Hotel in about 30 minutes from Karuizawa Station. It’s not that far even from Tokyo. The welcome drink is herbal tea—light and refreshing. I don’t mind paying for alcohol in the room, but there was no price list anywhere. The juice was very good. The bath was wonderful, and it’s great that you can feel the breeze on the balcony. With the open highland views, it feels amazing. They recommended a walk in the woods, but there wasn’t much to see in the garden. Does anything bloom depending on the season? The bonfire lounge has a great atmosphere, but the smell lingers quite a bit—having jackets available to borrow would make it easier to enjoy. We had a fusion of Italian and French cuisine, and it was on a completely different level from typical Onsen Ryokan dining. That said, the venison main course felt light—less rich than Sengokuhara within Hiramatsu, but more substantial than Atami. Service levels varied quite a bit: there was an excellent sommelier, but also what seemed like new staff members—hoping for further improvement going forward. Overall, it seems like a great place to visit as an auberge-style highland resort mainly for enjoying the food.
