Jikagen-sen 100% Kakenagashi Takayama Ryujin Onsen Ryu Resort & Spa

As explained in the bathroom guide, the water seems to have an ideal pH, so it feels smooth on the skin with no resistance, and it’s so pleasant you’ll want to stay in forever. I’ve been to many Onsen, and this may have been the most comfortable of all. The meals were extremely satisfying in both portion size and taste. The Hida beef shabu-shabu was especially tender, sweet, and delicious. The steamed abalone was also tender, and mixing the two sauces made it outstanding. Everything else was equally well prepared and thoughtfully crafted. The staff were highly professional, and their smiles were wonderful. As for services, we enjoyed a welcome drink and one complimentary alcoholic drink after dinner in the lounge, which made for a very relaxing time. Next time, I’d love to stay here with my parents!

We booked separate rooms for a group of seven. When making the reservation, we noted that we were traveling together and requested to be seated at the same table for meals. They accommodated us perfectly—our rooms were next to each other, and they arranged dining for all seven of us, which we really appreciated. The futons were already set up, which made things very easy. The hot spring is free-flowing, so the water was clean and felt wonderful. I think the scenery would have been even better if the autumn leaves had been a bit further along, but it was still very relaxing. The bathtub bath was lukewarm, though.Dinner offered small portions of various Japanese/Western/Chinese-style creative dishes, and the Hida beef shabu-shabu was especially tender and delicious. One minor disappointment was that the garlic toast tasted good but was a little hard. Overall, it was a stylish-looking course meal. After dinner, we enjoyed chatting in the bar while looking out at the forest and having complimentary alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.Breakfast wasn’t a buffet; instead, it came with many different side dishes that went perfectly with freshly cooked rice—almost like buffet-level variety. There were also cornflakes, and croissants were served at the end; we were even able to take them to go, which made us very happy. The room was clean as well. Since this is an inn surrounded by nature there were some insects, but they did their best to help in various ways. It can’t really be helped in this setting, but if you dislike bugs it might be challenging. They also told us where we could see beautiful stars at night, and everyone treated us warmly throughout our stay—it turned into a wonderful trip. Thank you very much.
