    We hope you enjoy your meals.

    This was my 8th stay, and my 2nd since the renovation. Unfortunately, due to a typhoon, I had to shorten my trip this time.\nAfter the renovation, it’s clean, but it feels like it has become an ordinary Hotel. I also feel the quality (and planning?) of the dining has declined. For example, in the past there were dinner buffet events like an “Ishigaki Beef Fair,” with main dishes changing daily so you wouldn’t get bored. The serving area also used to be a square-shaped live kitchen where you could watch the cooking process, which was exciting.\nI feel both the food itself and the creativity behind it have dropped. I’d like to see more effort put into dining—especially since prices have gone up. Compared with Resort Hotels of a similar class in Ishigaki or Miyako, it honestly feels below that level.\nOn the other hand, the beauty of the sea and richness of nature that you can only experience on a remote island are unique experiences you can only have at Haimurubushi. Many repeat guests likely come for exactly that. Also, activities like watermelon splitting on the beach and fireworks at night feel warm and wonderful!\nThere are plenty of beautiful luxury Resort Hotels around Ishigaki and Miyako, but rather than imitating them, I hope you will compete by focusing on what makes Haimurubushi special.

    A Hotel I Love Too Much

    This was my repeat stay, and once again I felt it is an outstanding Hotel in every way. The thoughtful attention to detail, the staff’s naturally warm hospitality, and the impeccably maintained surroundings were all perfect. I have stayed at other Hotels on Kohama Island, but this is the only choice for me.

    It was very relaxing—thank you.

    About 35 years ago, I visited Haimurubushi for the first time in my mid-20s, and this was my second stay. Since the management has changed since then and I heard that the pool and other Accommodation facilities have been renovated or newly added, I decided to return. I barely remembered my first stay, so speaking only about this visit, Haimurubushi was a wonderful resort for me. When I was younger, I don’t think I fully appreciated it; this time, it reminded me what a truly comfortable beach resort means to me. (To put it bluntly,) in the end, it came down to the location and how spacious it is. Whether going to eat, heading to the pool, or visiting the large public bath, you have to ride a cart through lush greenery—and that “inconvenience” actually made me realize again how happy and luxurious it feels to live surrounded by nature. Except during the COVID period, I visit Okinawa’s main island and remote islands every year; perhaps because I’m older now, this trip—where I could enjoy an unhurried, natural kind of luxury—felt far happier than staying at a Resort Hotel where everything is just a short walk indoors from your room to restaurants, pools, or the beach. Although I don’t travel abroad often, it felt even more relaxing than similar overseas resorts (such as Fiji, Palau, or Cebu), not least because communication can be entirely in Japanese. If I had one request regarding dinner: there were limited restaurant options (it would be great if there were at least a Japanese restaurant), and while that may be unavoidable on a remote island location-wise، prices felt high for what was offered (though both the quality and portion of the meat dishes were excellent). As an aside: during this stay—unbelievably—I misplaced or lost items three times for the first time in my life; each time when I contacted reception they were returned immediately. They weren’t important items even if they hadn’t come back، but I was genuinely impressed by how thoroughly lost-and-found is managed (perhaps standard at any Hotel، but it was new to me). Including that experience، every member of staff showed hospitality so outstanding that there is nothing at all to criticize. Thank you very much.

    The concert schedule is unclear.

    This was our fifth visit. The Facility, activities, and staff service were wonderful, and once again we had a fulfilling trip to Kohama. However, as the finale of our trip, we were disappointed that Mr. Kikuo Tsuchida—who holds lobby concerts while sharing the history and traditional culture of Kohama Island—appeared less frequently. We had been planning this trip for months and were really looking forward to it. During our stay, we also saw other families feeling the same way, which made us realize how many guests look forward to these concerts. Because we期待 the blend of travel atmosphere and music so much, it was truly disappointing. If possible, we would love for the number of concerts to return to what it used to be—this is how our whole family feels, and we hope it can happen. We made many wonderful memories again this time. We will definitely come back—we want to hear “Welcome home” again.

    It was nice to be ab...

    It was nice to be able to see the ocean up close. However, the food was truly disappointing. The buffet had few options and little creativity, and many dishes were overly salty. I felt the stock wasn’t prepared well. I tried dinner as well, but the meat wasn’t great quality, and I was shocked that it seemed to be grilled once and left sitting out, then reheated—and served using the same tongs that had handled raw meat. For the high price, the overall offering was underwhelming. It felt like Japanese cuisine (including breakfast) might not be their strength. Although they promote a Multiple Night Stay, there was little variation day to day and I got bored. I used in-room dining too, but it also had limited choices and became repetitive. The prices are top-tier, but the content is clearly inferior compared with other Resort Hotels. I was also surprised that a simple salad—basically just raw lettuce placed on a plate—cost nearly 2,000 yen. I think it would be better if there were some simple Japanese dishes available. Several times my Room number was mixed up; they mentioned another guest’s name or rudely told me that “your Room doesn’t have that service,” so you may want to be careful about this. The private pool in the Room that I had been looking forward to was much smaller than expected and not suitable for swimming, which was disappointing. The float ring provided in the Room was good—I could stay afloat comfortably for a long time. Having a washing machine in the Room is very convenient. It would have been better if the complimentary drinks in the in-room refrigerator included more non-alcoholic options. The in-room amenities and furniture were modern and nice—perhaps because it is still a relatively new Room. Considering this is an expensive Resort Hotel, I hope the dining will improve.

    At age 72, I stayed ...

    At age 72, I stayed for two nights with my daughter’s family—five of us in total (ages 48, 34, 9, and 7). I visited here on my honeymoon 46 years ago, and my daughter’s family visited two years ago. We truly enjoyed an extraordinary experience that satisfied all three generations. The ocean view from our Room, the starry sky above it, and even a rainbow over the sea—something I had never seen before (I usually only see them between buildings). We are grateful to all the staff for everything: twice-daily cleaning, helping when our 7-year-old grandchild had a fever, and taking care of our 9-year-old as well. On future trips, we will probably find ourselves saying this place was better. Thank you for the wonderful memories.

    After the main building renovation, the stay felt unsettling and not relaxing.

    I am a returning guest. This was my first stay since the reopening after the renovation. I came all the way from Kansai International Airport to relax at Haimurubushi. However, during my time at the main building’s restaurant and lounge, instead of feeling relaxed, I felt uneasy and couldn’t settle down. The staff providing service also seemed to lack smiles and emotional leeway. I found myself wanting to get away from there as soon as possible. The atmosphere felt negative, and I was disappointed. When planning the renovation, did you consult an expert on Kyusei Kigaku or house feng shui?

    Impressions of Haimurubushi

    I’ll likely become a repeat guest. (1) Guest room: We stayed in an Ocean View Suite. The hot water came quickly, so we could relax right away in the bathtub while looking out at the sea. The refrigerator was stocked with complimentary drinks such as beer—everything was thoughtfully provided. The lounge was also comfortable, and the selection of alcohol varied by time of day, so the service never felt repetitive. (2) Service: Outstanding hospitality. I was impressed that the staff consistently remembered us. For example, a staff member who served us at the restaurant recognized us and asked about how yesterday’s activity went—showing genuine care for each guest as an individual. (3) Public bath: The open-air bath with panoramic ocean views was excellent. (4) Dining: We were satisfied with the food, but the distance between where the food is placed and the seating area felt long, which made me wonder if there’s a risk of bumping into others or spilling something while walking back to the table. (5) Price: It likely depends on the season, but for this price and this level of service, we were extremely satisfied. I think we’ll be repeat guests.

    My second stay at Haimurubushi

    I last stayed here seven years ago, and at the time I felt it might be better suited for our children once they were a bit older. This time, however, the Hotel pool and dining options were even better than before, and our kids were thrilled throughout our stay. In particular, the ocean view from the main pool is outstanding—just being in the water is so relaxing. It was also easy to go from the pool to the beach, so we fully enjoyed both the pool and the sea in summer. We had breakfast and dinner buffets as well as lunch in the lounge, and everything was delicious. Seven years ago I barely remember anything about the food, but this time it really stood out. We would love to stay again.

    A Luxury Resort on a Tropical Southern Island

    Staying at Haimurubushi—an Accommodation I’d always wanted to try—was a dream come true. From the pickup at the port, the service was excellent in every way! Even during our summer vacation trip, we didn’t have to wait in line for anything, and we truly enjoyed a relaxing island pace of life. Our whole family was very satisfied.

    Our two Rooms for four nights in the suite were excellent, and we’d love to stay again.

    Our family of eight stayed for four nights in two suite Rooms, and it was wonderful. The food at the Hotel was delicious everywhere, from the main restaurant to the beach café. In particular, the salad with sea grapes at the beach café was even better than the main restaurant. We also enjoyed the steak grill restaurant—the Ishigaki beef steak was excellent—but only at this restaurant, service took far too long: we entered at 5:30 PM and it took three hours. After the main course, it took an hour for dessert to arrive, and although we were the first guests seated, we were left unattended. For a dinner that cost 180,000 yen, this was unacceptable. Service staff at the other restaurants were very good, so I could not understand why this happened here.

    Exactly as the concept promises!

    We stayed here to coincide with the opening of the pool villa. I made the Reservation thinking it might be a bit of a splurge, but it turned out to be a stay with absolutely no regrets. From the pre-stay consultation to the private Shuttle Service, warm greetings throughout the property, and check-in guidance, every staff member was friendly and provided outstanding service. The in-room dining was beautifully set up, making for an elegant and delicious meal, and items in the refrigerator were replenished as needed—so there was no need to leave the Room at all. Thank you very much to all the staff! Right in front of us were the deep blue sea and Iriomote Island. Spending unhurried time in this private space—enjoying how the scenery changes with time—was truly exceptional. It was exactly as promised by the concept: “Happy no matter what you do, happy even if you do nothing.” Next time, we’d love a Multiple Night Stay of three nights or more.

    An Accommodation with exceptional hospitality and stunning starry skies

    The staff’s hospitality was outstanding. We asked for various favors, such as warming up baby food and taking photos, and they kindly helped us with a smile. We were especially happy that they were so sweet to our child. The starry sky was also incredible—I’ll never forget gazing up at a sky full of stars while lying back in the open-air bath. The entire property had a wonderful tropical vibe, and even just riding around in the cart was fun.

    The Ultimate Luxury Experience

    Our annual Haimurubushi trip as a couple felt like it might be a bit long at seven nights, but it went by so quickly. This time we stayed in a suite for the first time, and the club lounge met our expectations. Being able to relax, gaze out at the sea, and enjoy resort life without watching the clock was truly a luxurious experience. A personal story: in my late 20s I saw a Haimurubushi TV commercial and wanted to visit, but I didn’t have the money or time and had to give up. After retiring, I’ve been able to take longer trips with my wife, and we now enjoy Haimurubushi every year. We’d love to keep coming back every year to spend such relaxing, wonderful time at Haimurubushi.

    Grateful for the wonderful encounters and memorable moments.

    This visit to Haimurubushi, my first since staying at a Yamaha Resort, exceeded all expectations and brought me truly moving experiences and wonderful encounters. I could feel the dedication to hospitality throughout the vast grounds, and I was completely charmed by the warm smiles of everyone who took care of us. It was a 3-day/2-night trip, but we were overwhelmed by the wide variety of programs and Facilities—far more than we could fully enjoy in such a short stay. We’ve decided that next year we’ll stay for at least three nights. Finally, my heartfelt thanks to everyone we met and to all those who supported us behind the scenes. Thank you for giving us so many wonderful memories.

    It was an excellent accommodation.

    This was our first stay with my daughter and her husband. The staff were very pleasant, and the Room, pool, and restaurant were all so comfortable that we didn’t want to leave (in a good way). We often visit Okinawa, including Miyakojima, but this was the most satisfying trip we’ve ever had. We will definitely come again next year. Thank you very much.

    Days to forget the everyday

    I had been wanting to stay at Haimurubushi for over 40 years, and my wish finally came true. It was a truly wonderful Hotel, just as I had imagined. Especially at the quiet pool, I could forget everyday life and feel calm and relaxed. What disappointed me was that most of the lockers in the panoramic public bath did not have numbered wrist tags attached to the keys, so many lockers were effectively unusable. Also, despite being such a luxury resort, the men’s bath did not provide cleansing oil, toner, or lotion. Even the local super sento I often visit offers these amenities, so having different amenities for men and women feels outdated. One more thing: the breakfast buffet selection was limited. In particular, there were no dessert options at all, and there wasn’t anything I wanted to eat, so I think this should be improved.

    This time was a shor...

    This time was a short trip for three women. Unfortunately, it was the rainy season and there were times when it poured like a shower, but in nature even that becomes part of the experience. We rode around the grounds in a cart, enjoyed the pool and sauna, and didn’t mind a little rain. In the humid weather, having an ice-cold Orion beer at the poolside bar was pure bliss. Breakfast offers a wide variety of options, and you can take your time while enjoying the view outside. The champuru cooked right in front of you changes daily; during our stay it was ma-mina champuru with bean sprouts. There are also many Okinawan dishes such as ninjin shirishiri. I recommend boiling your own noodles for Yaeyama soba and adding a little rafute curry to make curry soba. Relaxing with close friends in nature—planning our next trip and sharing memories—made for a truly satisfying stay even without doing anything particularly active. Thank you very much. We’ll be back.

    A rare Resort Hotel where you can relax and unwind in nature.

    Because this is a Hotel set on vast grounds surrounded by unspoiled nature, guests never feel crowded and time seems to pass at a relaxed pace—this is its greatest appeal. For that reason, I recommend choosing a Plan that includes a cart. I stayed in the Ocean View Deluxe Room, so there was nothing particularly special to note about the Room or amenities, but as the name suggests it offers an ocean view with Kuroshima in sight, which felt wonderful. Since I was traveling solo and like listening to music when I’m in my Room, I was also pleased to find a BOSE speaker. The staff were not overly intrusive, but everyone was cheerful and answered questions accurately. Their subtle sense of distance felt well suited to Haimurubushi’s atmosphere. The bathroom in the Room was fine as well, and the open-air bath at the large public bath had a great view and was very comfortable. One small point: there are no partitions between the faucets, so it may feel awkward when it gets busy—I hope this will be improved. The Facility and equipment—as well as activities—are very well equipped. It’s perfect whether you want to add no options and simply relax in peace, or stay longer and enjoy many different experiences. The only area that felt slightly lacking was dining. Breakfast buffet and light lunch were both fine (I could have rated them 4/5), but there wasn’t anything I wanted for dinner, so I ate off-site using Shuttle Service. Since most people come via Ishigaki Island anyway—and there are many specialty restaurants there for seafood and Ishigaki beef—when dinner options are limited mainly to buffet or steak grill at those price points… I found myself wishing there were something like excellent Italian cuisine on-site. That said, overall I was very satisfied and would definitely like to return. When that time comes, thank you again in advance. Even as it is now it’s more than enough; rather than unnecessary development, I sincerely hope you will preserve this calm, unhurried atmosphere. Thank you very much.

    The Ultimate Paradise

    We had stayed here before the renovation, and we were a bit worried after seeing some negative Reviews post-renovation, but for our family “Haimurubushi” was the best paradise. Some people may prefer how it was before, but that’s just a matter of personal preference. This time we unfortunately didn’t get clear skies the whole time, so it was a shame we only caught a little of the starry sky, but we still enjoyed three nights to the fullest. The kids played nonstop in the main pool, and the huge banyan tree at Kohki Plains that we went to see on our island cycling tour was breathtaking! The snorkeling and “Phantom Island” were amazingly clear even in the rain—we even saw clownfish perfectly! We had the breakfast buffet three times; while I did wish there were a bit more variety day to day, everything was solid and delicious. We ate freshly fried sata andagi again and again. The buffet area is separated from the seating area as well, so we could eat calmly without worrying about distance or crowds. For lunch, we ate at both the Lounge & Bar and the Beach Café! The Lounge & Bar had a wide selection of menu items and everything was tasty. For dinner we chose Steak & Grill: one prix-fixe course and one T-bone course. The meat was excellent, and so was the chocolate gâteau—completely satisfied! On other days we ate at an island izakaya-style spot, though I was also curious about their evening buffet. The view of Iriomote Island from the observatory bathhouse is incredible—so open and refreshing. It’s rare to find an open-air bath with this kind of expansive feeling! We could see Azuki-chan (the water buffalo) up close, feed goats and tortoises, explore a bit along the shallow shore to find tiny fish and shrimp—overall it was relaxing while being close to animals and nature. There are washing machines (paid), but they’re clean and you can check availability; plus there are water dispensers around the property with free loaner bottles as well as pitchers—easy to carry when heading out! We relaxed together as a family and had such a great time. It truly lived up to its concept: “Happy no matter what you do—and happy even if you do nothing.” It’s pricey, but next time I’d like to come in an even better season—it’s worth it!

    Chura Island

    It was a short 3-day, 2-night stay, but I was surrounded by stunning scenery and was completely satisfied. The Room has been renovated, though some areas—such as the plumbing—felt unchanged from before. Still, it seems they are offering the best possible hospitality on this small island. I joined the morning yoga, stargazing tour, and Churaumi snorkeling—all of them were great fun. The insect museum on the property is also quite impressive, and I recommend visiting during your stay. There are also local cats on the grounds, and one came to visit in front of our Room. I’d love to return someday to enjoy the beautiful views again and see the cats too.

    "What Yamaha has built, what Mitsui aims to create"

    I’m relieved. I’d been worried because there were quite a few harsh Reviews for a while after the renovation, but “My Room in Obama” is still as wonderful as ever. I also enjoyed it just as much as before—the various guidance based on my history and the way the live music is presented—thanks to the efforts of all the staff, who have no doubt made many fine adjustments over time. More than 40 years ago, I’m grateful to Yamaha for creating “Haimuru” in Obama, and at the same time I’m looking forward to whatever new form My Room may take in the not-too-distant future. And I hope it doesn’t become a Hotel that’s out of my reach when that happens (lol). This may be a request from an enthusiast, but I’d be happy if you could bring back the postcards.

    We had a wonderful time.

    My stay last November was so comfortable that this June I extended my trip to four nights and upgraded to a Room with an open-air bath where the ocean is right in front of you. For the first two nights it was just my partner and me, and for the last two nights our daughters joined us, making four of us. Even with four people, it wasn’t just a place to sleep—we could relax and enjoy conversation. There’s also a sub-living area on the deck where all four can unwind, and from the open-air bath you can enjoy the blue sea during the day and a starry sky at night. There’s even a footbath, so my partner and daughters had their own “footbath girls’ gathering,” while I enjoyed drinks in the exclusive lounge with my mind completely at ease. The food has carried on its Yamaha-era commitment to quality, and both the grill restaurant and buffet were excellent. At the buffet, the area where you choose dishes is separate from where you eat, so you can relax and enjoy an escape from everyday life. There are plenty of marine activities as well, so even longer stays are more than enjoyable. There are many staff members who prioritize safety. I came to Kohama Island mainly for SUP, so I brought my own board. Using your own board at Haimurubushi Beach is allowed as long as you sign a consent form. Thank you to Mr./Ms. T for explaining this and also sharing information about waves, tides during our stay, and recommended SUP spots. My family wants to come back again—so we’ll definitely be returning!

    It was wonderful even after the renovation.

    We stayed here for our wedding anniversary trip. Four years ago, we held our wedding at ANA Ishigaki and then spent about a week island-hopping; Haimurubushi was one of the Hotels we stayed at. At that time, we were treated to a celebratory drink at dinner and had photos taken for us, along with many other thoughtful gestures, which made us very happy. This time as well, we let them know in advance that it was our anniversary trip, but there were no particular congratulatory words, which was a little disappointing. (That said, it’s simply because we expected something similar to last time—there is absolutely no issue on the Hotel’s side.) Although it started with a slight sense of disappointment, it quickly became the kind of stay where “whether you do something or do nothing, you’re happy.” Our Room required taking off shoes at the entrance (which may be common on Ishigaki), so our 1-year-old could move around freely and seemed to really enjoy it. We used the breakfast and dinner buffet, and the food was delicious. The staff were all wonderful and full of hospitality—we felt truly relaxed. This time we couldn’t make much time and stayed only one night, but next time we’d like a Multiple Night Stay. We still haven’t been able to see a sky full of stars (it was a full moon four years ago, and this year it was too cloudy), so I hope next time we can enjoy them from the open-air bath. Thank you for such a wonderful stay.

    Kohama Island Trip

    It was a very beautiful island and an excellent Hotel. Rental bicycles were available for exploring the island, and it was a pleasant ride. Since the Hotel grounds are spacious, I recommend renting a cart as well. Everything was very clean. The weather was great, so we could enjoy views of many different islands. I would like to stay again if I have the chance.

    A place you’ll want to visit again and again!

    This was our second stay, after visiting two years ago. A Hotel beautifully in harmony with the island’s nature—every view is picture-perfect. The Room was extremely comfortable, and the bath came with stunning scenery. The only downside is that the buffet is quite expensive. Renting a cart is highly recommended to fully enjoy the expansive grounds. On the “Phantom Island” snorkeling tour, children’s wetsuits were available to rent, and we were able to see lots of fish.

    First stay since the renovation!

    The Reviews were so harsh that they actually made me want to go. In the end, I felt it wasn’t nearly as bad as people say. The buffet is often criticized. Since I remember when there used to be carts, it’s definitely much less convenient now, but it also helps you avoid taking too much food—and if you go in with a plan, it can be fine in its own way. Before, drinks at the pool were unlimited and that was great, but now it’s water only. I miss the days when it had a casual, family-friendly feel rather than being upscale. Still, having experienced both before and after the renovation, I try to see it as getting the best of both worlds. I’d like to visit again next year.

    We enjoyed our stay as three generations of family.

    I visited 10 years ago and had a wonderful time, so I’d been hoping to bring my grandchild to Haimurubushi as well. I’m very happy we were able to make it happen this time. We enjoyed the beautiful sea, interacting with animals, fireworks, and the peaceful scenery—making truly wonderful travel memories.

    Recommended Ocean View Suite

    This was my second stay in the Ocean View Suite. There is a lounge exclusively for guests staying in the Ocean View Suite and the Ocean View Bath Suite. From 11:00 to 19:00, you can enjoy unlimited drinks with a wide selection of alcohol. A cart is also included, so I recommend this Room for adults staying at Haimurubushi. Through the large windows, you can see the Yaeyama Sea and enjoy an extraordinary escape.

    Staff Training

    The issue is that the front desk staff did not seem to understand anything. Also, I paid a high price to stay here, but there was no ocean view. If it had been a second-floor Room, the view would have been spectacular, so this should be explained at the time of Reservation. If I had known there would be no ocean view at all, I would have paid a little extra to stay on the second floor. If I had stayed on the second floor, it would have been a truly wonderful Hotel. Also, the large public bath was quite disappointing: the indoor bath area is small, and the open-air bath is also small—more like a public bathhouse. I would like you to make an effort to provide Onsen water. Also, I would like you to sell coffee milk and fruit milk in the large public bath area. With better staff training and a more spacious Onsen bath, I think this could be an excellent Facility.
