    The staff’s kimono dressing is excellent.

    The location is excellent. The Onsen exceeded expectations and could be featured more prominently. The staff’s kimono dressing is flawless. As expected of a long-established Ryokan, the proprietress’s training and guidance are clearly reflected throughout.

    A traditional Japanese Ryokan experience...

    We visited a traditional Ryokan during the New Year and were excited about the experience. The location was perfect, right by Togetsukyo Bridge, and we appreciated being able to use the parking lot. The staff were all very pleasant and their smiles left a great impression. However, regarding the Facility, the garden light in our Room was too bright for sleeping. We couldn’t find a switch to turn it off and called the front desk, but there was no staff on duty at night. The night guard couldn’t resolve it either, so we ended up cutting off the main power in our Room. This caused another issue as we couldn’t turn on any lights when using the restroom at night and had to leave the door open—something we’ve never experienced before. The meals were served in a large hall which felt cold; partitions would have been helpful. Since it’s a traditional Ryokan during New Year’s, some festive events or decorations would have enhanced our experience. Additionally, the TV in our Room was small and could only be viewed from where the futon was placed, which felt inconvenient. Overall, while there were aspects of charm as expected from a traditional Ryokan setting, these issues made us feel that its potential wasn’t fully realized—a bit disappointing for such an anticipated stay.

    A bit disappointing

    The Room was clean, but the lobby was small and had nothing. There were no bottled water in the Room, so it was inconvenient to wake up thirsty and drink tap water. I think the tap water is fine, but it's disappointing.

    The lobby?

    The Room was clean, but the lobby was small. When I arrived around 3 PM, there were no drinks available, and I had to wait for almost an hour with nothing to do.

    I had a relaxing time.

    Heartfelt hospitality, delicious cuisine, and relaxing Onsen made for a wonderful experience. The building has the charm of a traditional establishment, which I personally liked. The room was renovated and very clean. It is conveniently located very close to Togetsukyo Bridge, making it ideal for sightseeing. The staff provided polite service with just the right level of attentiveness. Even with international guests present, their service was excellent. Highly recommended for those who want to leisurely enjoy a traditional Japanese Onsen Ryokan experience.

    Accommodation fees are high.

    The Room has been renovated and is very clean. The cypress bath is exciting, but the unique scent of the cypress smells slightly unpleasant. Other Facilities are quite old. The elevator has a musty smell, making it uncomfortable to use. Service is typical of a traditional Ryokan and average. The reception at the lobby was slightly careless. The Room was extremely spacious and included a private bath, but considering there were no meals included, the price felt too high, so I wouldn't choose it again.

    We fully enjoyed Ara...

    We fully enjoyed Arashiyama during the quiet hours of morning and evening. The service, meals, and overall quality were excellent, making it a highly satisfying accommodation experience.

    Comfortable stay near Togetsukyo Bridge

    We arrived early in the morning by car, and when we called, we were kindly allowed to use the parking space as there was availability. Thank you very much. We chose a plan with breakfast and dinner included, and for dinner, we enjoyed Kyoto cuisine at Nishiki in Arashiyama Park. Everything was delicious, and the hospitality of the staff at the restaurant was wonderful, leaving us completely satisfied. The staff at Togetsutei were also warm and welcoming with their smiles. We would love to stay here again.

    The meals were excellent.

    Enjoyed Kyoto cuisine. The accommodation was good. The bus stop is nearby, making it convenient to take a bus to Kyoto. The JR station is also close, which is convenient, but since it's near Togetsukyo Bridge, there are many tourists, and walking to the station can be challenging. Shuttle service from the accommodation to the station would make it even better.
